Food is decent quality for a chain place, good American comfort food. Service at this location is consistently good - management walks around talking to customers, its obvious they care. I always enjoy looking in their store, they have many interesting and unique items you can't find elsewhere. For about $12 including drink, I had a great meal the other night of Chicken & Dumplings with three side dishes, and corn muffins. Was all served to me in less then 5 minutes after I ordered. Arrived hot and tasty. I like the Cranberry Apple Ice Tea they have available right now as a seasonable item. I'm sorry if this makes people sick but I shouldn't be the only one lol. My husband and I were going out to eat dinner. We decided to go to the Cracker Barrel. The wait was 45 minutes, but that's to be expected on a Saturday night. After we were finally seated we were greeted by a server who looked like he had been taking out the trash just a minute before. He was messy and very unkempt. The worse part though was his sickness was leaking from his nose. Yes a grown man had snot , green, coming from his nose. To the point of it being very obvious. He took our drink order and as soon as he left the table, we got up and left. I kept picturing him touching my food after touching his snot nose. I do feel bad for leaving, but I had to hurry home to drink an airborne. I feel bad he has to work being sick, but Cracker Barrel should have never put him out to serve customers. Omg! This is the worst place ever!!!! I placed a to go order online at 12 PM, my confirmation said my food will be ready at 12:33. I showed up at 12:35 proceeded to wait another 20 minutes with no food and no responses from the managers, when the cashier called for one. I had to leave to go Back to my office for a meeting At 1pm. I returned to Cracker Barrell at 1:40, the manager came up I explained what happened and he didn't offer any apology or even try to make it right, he just was like well "let me go to get your food". So at this point the food has been sitting for over an hour and it's cold and he's just gonna give it to me and let me walk out the door. I told him I just want my money back and again he didn't offer any real apology or try to make it right, he walked into the back had the GM refund my money, didn't bring me a receipt or any confirmation of the transaction and said it would be back on my card in a day or two. So now, I have no food, no record of the transaction showing that it should be credited back to my account, which is very annoying. My arting words were "well I guess I'll go get lunch at lion's choice" and he told me OK. What an arrogant Person, he should not be in management. Botton line, if you want to actually get food to go, do not order from this restaurant!! I'm not a frequent reviewer, but I felt that I had to give a shout out to Gerard and his team at Cracker Barrel. We set out Tues, Dec 14 with a church group of 37 people to go to dinner and then tour Christmas Lights. Knowing that Cracker Barrel doesn't take reservations, I still wanted to give them a heads-up that we were coming. Gerard explained to me that they didn't take reservations and would likely not be able to seat us at one table. He also told me that they were short handed, but would do all they could. When we arrived 23 minutes later they had tables already set up close together and prepped for us. He explained that even though they were short staffed, he was giving us two great servers and they would do their best. We were amazed at the service. The servers were awesome - the food was prompt and great - and we were able to get on to our Christmas Lights Tour in a surprising short time! Gerard and his team and kitchen went the extra mile to make sure that we were WELL taken care of. Great job! In the midst of his huge dinner rush and being short-handed, these folks knocked it out of the park! This is why we keep coming back to this location. Biscuit n Grits. These things don't sound as appetising as they actually are. They form part of a large but tasty breakfast, with help from pancakes and okra (My favourite food discovery of 2013). Poor food ate breakfast there and ordered the Uncle Herschal plate. When it came I thought I ordered off the kids menu. The ham was razor thing and the eggs were real small. They brought a serving of watery grits in a dixie cup size bowl and I measured it out with the spoon they gave. It was exactly 2 tablespoons. We have been to this location several times over the past two years. They must have a lot of waitress turnover as I have never seen the same waitress twice. Many new faces tonight with 1 or 2 stars on their apron. The service is good, but the cost of doing business has obviously hurt Cracker Barrel as the food quality is not as good and the prices are rising. I had a grilled chicken salad tonight. The chicken and crotons were great. The lettuce was wilted...something CB would have never let happen in the past. The shopping in their lobby was fortunately better than the food. I bought a MIZZOU 100% cotton t-shirt for $11.65. That was a good deal. If you are watching your weight it is not easy to find a number of good choices here. Cracker Barrel in my opinion has slipped a few notches over the past 2-3 years. Worst dining experience of my life. Several things were wrong, I.e. dirty silverware, no butter/jam with our biscuits, I requested bacon instead of ham-the waitress misunderstood and brought all bacon and no sausage. These are minor things, but when we said something to the waitress in a polite manner, she got defensive and argumentive, telling me she brought what I ordered and wanted me to show her on the menu where we were supposed to get butter and jam with our biscuits. I was showing her when she interrupted me and said she will just get her manager. Very rude. The manager tried to cover for her saying she was new at waitressing. A different waitress brought our check, it was half the price of what we ordered, we sat and talked for a while, we thought he was comping some of the price, which I did not expect or request, and I went to pay. After swiping my card, the rude waitress ran up yelling it was the wrong ticket and the cashier proceeds to tell me TWICE, that I need to look at my receipt prior to paying. 2nd time in the last month with terrible service but this time was the worst and I feel compelled to leave a review. We had what was obviously a new waiter and that's ok, we get that people are new. However, at his first visit to our table we asked for coffee and immediately gave our order. 10 minutes later still no coffee. The people next to us stopped another waiter to ask for their drinks. When our waiter brought their drinks out we asked him for our coffee again. He asked me for clarification on my order regarding the steak-I did not order anything with steak! He finally brought our coffee but then never came back. After 15 minutes and no food or coffee I asked the manager to bring us coffee which he did and said he would check on our food. About 5 minutes later the food came out and the order was completely wrong at which point we walked out. 40 minutes and the order was wrong. Still hungry we went down the street to Bishops. My wife and I LOVE Cracker Barrel. And this one is representative of our reasons why. This was our first visit to this location as we travel through the area. We were seated timely and our waitress was extremely courteous and professional and brought our drink orders rapidly and accurately. The food orders were outstanding as always - my wife had the ham dinner with corn and mashed potatoes. She loved it. I had the chicken and dumplings with corn and pinto beans. Mine was equally good. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and then we found out that another patron was kind enough to pay for our bill as a gesture of thanks because I was wearing my Viet Nam Veteran's Hat. Waited one hour and almost 30 minutes for a table even though we put our name in online. We finally got seated and got our drinks. Waitress was kind, but when the food came out it was nauseating. Chicken tenders were the size of nuggets and there were three of them. Hash brown casserole had a hair in it. Manager came up and told us it is "natural" for it to happen. This was one of the best and most accommodating experiences that I've ever had at any restaurant I've been to. I have a dairy allergy, and the manager Dan was so kind in helping me with options that Cracker Barrel offered. From giving me an allergen free menu and suggesting the best tasting meals to even directing me around the store, showing me the food products and candiesthat were allergen free, everyone was so kind. Not to mention that the food tasted wonderful. The manager's accommodation, hospitality, and passion for Cracker Barrel and it's customers was one of a kind. This place is really kids and family friendly the atmosphere is great the waitress are always professional and country friendly Highway K in OFallon, Mo and Fenton, Mo. are the best ones to me but I am sure Cracker Barrel is an American favorite family kitchen all over. The food menu is great needs a makeover though and fried chicken shouldn't be like Thanksgiving it should be an everyday food item. As usual there is a wait not long and the hostess did quote a good time. We were sat quickly and the server arrived promptly but that's about all the positives of this outing. We ordered our food and it took much longer then expected considering the dining room was about 60%. My coffee cup spent more time empty then full and that's not because I was drinking it quickly! There were about 4-6 servers standing at the kitchen doorway doing nothing. They should have grabbed some coffee pots and walked the dining room and did refills instead of standing around. Our meal was just mediocre as expected but our server just wasn't on, she seemed to be in the weeds/overwhelmed with her 4 table section. The busser was not doing a good job either. We were sat at a sticky table and I have to admit that is one of my many pet peeves when going to a restaurant. I understand the history of the store but maybe they need to modify the concept and maybe build the store separately form the restaurant. It takes away from the eating experience which I guess after eating there a few times its not a bad idea. The food is really in need of review I ordered scrambled eggs I was served an egg patty it actually looked like it was cooked in a mold of some type. I've been a regular at this store now for seven years and I'm sick and tired of ordering their Chicken BLT sandwich on carry-out and ALWAYS having to check it at the counter. Why? you might ask...because the cooks, waitstaff as well as the MANAGERS don't seem to know what the 'B' in BLT stands for. I've had the waitstaff, the MANAGERS both argue with me and tell me that that sandwich doesn't come with bacon. REALLY?!?!? Your MENU says it does! Your MENU has said it does since it was called the Ruby's Dressed Up Chicken Sandwich waaaaay back twelve years ago!!!! Help me out on this one corporate! I figure this is the most appropriate place to write this review as the cooks there cannot read this as I believe they are illiterate and the managers nor do the waitstaff even know their own menus (which by the way when I was a GM of a restaurant I HAD TO KNOW!!!!) I have always been a fan of Cracker Barrel so obviously I like it or I wouldn't have chosen to eat there last weekend. My fiance and I went to the Ofallon location which neither of us had been to before. Our waitress Jenn was super friendly and checked on us frequently (which sometimes annoys me but it was fine). You wouldn't think this type of restaurant would offer many gluten free options but they actually had quite a few items on the menu that my fiance could eat which was nice. Our food came out very fast which normally I would appreciate but for a "home cooked meal" this surprised me. The food seemed like it had been sitting out for a while and we were there at 5pm so I really expected to be fresh. My dumplins weren't hot but slightly warm which was disappointing. My chicken fried steak was delicious and the fried okra is always amazing but the hash brown casserole was not hot and slightly dry as if it had been sitting out for a while. Something else that I noticed is that their portions don't seem as big as they used to. Don't get me wrong, with a chunk of meat, three sides and corn bread, it was still plenty of food for me but I remember going to Cracker Barrel and not being able to see my plate and this time my sides didn't even touch. I was just hoping to have leftovers and for the prices staying the same, I expected to make two meals out of it, but no big deal. Lastly, I noticed that the restaurant at 5pm was not busy at all. Maybe a quarter of the tables were being used and yet our hostess sat us right next to a table of five. Perhaps they do that because servers have specific tables, but as a customer, if there are several available tables, I prefer to be spaced out to have a little privacy. We visit here often on Monday mornings after our sales meeting. I really never look at the menu because I get the exact same thing every time. I get the Wholesome Morning Sampler that has a yogurt parfait, eggs, sausage and muffin. The parfait is really good with granola and almonds. I like my eggs over medium and sometimes they miss the mark and they are too runny. But the turkey sausage is good and the muffin is just enough food to get me through the day. This enormous chain of restaurants serves southern-style food. The large portion meals are truly large, with biscuits added in case you're not full yet. Like all Cracker Barrels, you have to walk through the store area before you get to the restaurant. This is obviously deliberate, and has probably been a reason for this chain's success. While the store has some neat products, it's annoying when, every time you come, your kids run off into the store and you have to corral them, then fight off requests for a toy while you eat. Nevertheless, we keep coming back, so the chain has a good formula for success. There are also no other restaurants quite like this; at least not in the Midwest. The consistency of the portions and taste of the food has kept me visiting Cracker Barrel for years. read more

Very good staff, and Becca our sever was very helpful and patient. My wife and I had the Campfire seasonal special. She had the chicken, and I had the beef. We loved them, enough to split, but as far as the roast beef, I wouldn't. lol I think this one of the better run stores, so hats of to the managers and staff. This Cracker Barrel is okay most of the time, but it's full of crazy workers the other times. Our waitress on one visit disappeared for 20 min and when she reappeared felt inclined to tell us that she was pregnant and had needed to pee. (disgusting!) On a business trip, Cracker Barrel has been my go to because of the location and hours I work. Unfortunately, I have found the service is horrible after 8:30pm. Food does not taste fresh, more or less microwaved. My waitress would continually forget to refill my drink and forgot half of my order that she wrote down. I've always received great food when dining at Cracker Barrel & have seen the newest commercial for their "Southern Fried Chicken" meal. Their commercial looks so good- nice Golden Brown chicken! Mmmm... even the poster at the door looks great.... all good until the order was placed & the server brings out a plate of WAY OVERCOOKED FRIED CHICKEN. (& the Hash brown potato casserole was Luke warm) we motion the server about the burnt looking chicken to return it & bring back a plate of nice golden brown chicken.... Nope! the next plate was basically the same. ???? The manager came by to assist... advising that's how their fryer does it. (? What?!) She tells us the timer on the fryer isn't adjustable) she asks if we want Chicken Pot Pie...Or... ? Bummer! No... We came in for the 50th Anniversary fried chicken advertisement BUT WE WANT OUR CHICKEN GOLDEN NOT DARK. Sorry... it doesn't take a super trained Eye to see your fryer is either set to HOT or the timer is messed up OR MAYBE the cooks are setting it too long? In addition, when the Main Course is returned to the kitchen, new side dishes are returned with the new meal... NOT in this case. Unreal.
