Love coming here! This review is long over due. It all starts with the service. John our waiter is so attentive, nice,fast and very kind. Great service goes a long way and my wife and I can't say enough about John! Kudos my man! Keep up the great work!! Food - for starters my wife and I always get the Cajun fries to load up on carbs lol. They're seasoned well and have a great spice to em. Only during happy hour we'll get the oysters ( I think it's 12$ for a dozen) - depending on the time of year, etc etc you'll try different oysters from different parts of the country. They're always amazing and fresh. Dinner - we get the shrimp with cracking mix and spicy along with sausage and potatoes. Sooo good! Not like other places they let the bag soak for a bit to Marinate everything and it's soooo tasty!! Have to say that this place is delicious if you enjoy seafood and spices, spicy spices that is. Came in on a Saturday night and I thought we would have to wait a very long time to grab a table since the last couple of years I have seen these types of restaurants being slammed and the wait time is somewhat ridiculous. Got sat down pretty quick, saw the menu and my friend and I ordered the garlic noodles, mussels, shrimp and crab legs. Everything is by 1 pound weight but as we later saw our receipt the crap legs were 2 pounds per order. Other seafood options are market price, so make sure to ask before going all Loco and order a bunch. Add-ons such as potatoes, corn and other stuff is usually 50 cents per item, so again, make sure you know what you are ordering. The staff is attentive at first but I noticed that at least our server after a while wasn't to be found, we didn't wait more the 10 mins but you figure that the other staff could help one another out. They apply a plastic bib so you don't get messy, they offer plastic gloves but come on, you came here to Crack and Claw your way to food glory. They offer three stages of spicy sauce. Make sure you ask, we went with Medium and it had a small kick, we liked it, anything higher would have been overwhelming. Mussels were good but small, enough meat but on the small side. Shrimp were very good, nice size whole shrimp. The crab legs were a good size, we got two just to have our crab leg fix. Garlic noodles were decent, tasted fine but a basic dish that complimented our seafood just right. Plenty of parking behind the restaurant or side streets. Will return for sure. read more

Okay so here's the deal. My friends and I are absolutely obsessed with boiling crab. We meet at the ktown location at least once a month. No joke. I came here today solo after work just to test this place out. Ordered the half dozen of oysters, as well as a lb of shrimp medium with their everything sauce. Oysters were fresh and very yummy. The shrimps on the other hand were fresh. . But something about the way it was cooked. . My shrimps heads were are all disintegrated.. sort of a weird mushy texture. . Which made it difficult for the shrimp head sucking we Asians like to do. . The sauce was good with the shrimp. . I usually like to drizzle the shrimp sauce on my rice at boiling crab. . Doing so here. . I definitely don't like the sauce as much. . A lil too tangy to mix with my rice. . Not saying it was bad. . But definitely wasn't as thick nor bold and zesty as my go to Boiling Crab. They are quite new so I'm sure the sauce will only get better in time. . So ill be back to check on that. Otherwise. . HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I come here all the time and always order over $100 worth of food. When I called to place the order , they stated I needed a credit card to place my order. I explained to them I'm not comfortable giving my credit card information over the phone. I said I'm a regular check the records. I'm going to come. The Manager goes to say Well you would have to come to place the order. I come to place the order (mind you it took me 10 minutes to get there). I arrive he goes to say Sorry the kitchen just closed. How when you close at 9? It was 8pm. All he could say is he is sorry. Chef comes from the back to close the door on me saying we don't have time for the Shenigans. Really?? Our server Kelli greeted us as we entered. I brought my parents out for lunch to the cracking crab because I prefer to the boiling crab. The place was pretty empty we got to pick where we wanted to seat. We got or drink orders right away and we had something to drink within a minute of being seated. After a few minutes our orders were taken and the bucket, gloves, bibs and limes were brought to the table. My dad has the fish and chips with garlic fries, he said they were the best he ever had! My mom and myself had 2lbs of mixed shrimp with some garlic fries and white rice. The food was delicious and throughout our server would check in on us and refill our drinks. Once we finished our server brought us wipes to clean our hands. Overall it was a great experience. Besides the great food the service was amazing! Unfortunately, this is only a one person bathroom so a line may form especially after eating a delicious, yet messy meal. The decor is nothing fancy but at least it's a spacious bathroom. I've been here two times and I was very pleased with their service and the quality of their food. The seasonings and all that stuff that goes inside the bag are delicious and well put together. We had gotten tired of the whole Cajun shrimp thing after eating at Boiling Shrimp, Shrimp Lover, etc., when we found ourselves in Montrose at the Farmer's Market on Sunday. Wanting to eat comfortably, we elected to duck in to the cool interior of Cracking Crab. As the place had just opened for the day it was empty and we were the first customers. We loved the corn nuggets, and we found the Combination 1 a great bargain, getting 3 lbs (1 lb each) of our choice of shrimp, black mussels and clams, with sausages and potatos and mixed sauce. The service by John and Mark was excellent and friendly, refilling my diet Coke before I could even ask and handy with helpful tips. Not perfect, but good enough. This place is no boiling crab but will do the job if you are too lazy (like my self) to drive out of town for some cajun seafood. I would say the portion, taste, and the price of the food is pretty average compared to more known cajun restaurants, however, the freshness of their seafood is questionable. I've been to this place 3 times so far and the first time I was very happy and satisfied but for the last 2 visits, the food didn't taste very fresh for some reason. Ordered the Crackin Combo and they just cooked all the seafood and threw on their sauce on top and served it on a platter.You would think that if you are going to get a combo they would put a little more time into it and actually take the time to mix everything together. I used to go to Crawfish on Fire in Eagle Rock a lot but it has been closed for some time now. I found Cracking Crab on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I am very happy I did! I paid about $55 and split the check with a friend. In total we got Alaskan Snow and King Crab (both market price), one corn, one pound sausage, potatoes (comes with 3), cajun fries, rice, and 4 beers. I think that's pretty decent! The place was quiet for a Saturday night, but it was right before closing, so no big surprise. What was surprising was how welcoming, friendly and helpful the wait staff was despite us walking in ten minutes before closing and ordering way too much food for two people. We ordered a cracking combo #1, which the server said would be enough for two. When it was served, we were almost overwhelmed by the portion. After spending some time trying to polish it all off, we finally gave up, and the server packed the rest to go. Each combo comes with your choice of spices. We got the mixer, which is a blend of garlic butter and medium Cajun spice. It was just about perfect! There's never a wait time when you walk in, you get seated immediately which is awesome. If you like to drink, the do have a bar for you. They have lots of beers, wines and cocktails to choose from. Love their shrimp!!! My favorite sauce combination is Cajun Medium with Garlic Butter Medium. First time I dined in, felt not welcomed with no service. I had to call and look to get water, napkins, bucket for trash etc. I went with my parents and kids and really felt bad for them. We didn't really enjoyed our meal. But food was great!!! Not the wait staffs not at all. Not At All. Second time we decided to just togo since I didn't want to deal with wait staffs. Togo tastes as good as dine in. It actually tasted better even I did not get my order right. Then Next time when I order Togo I added some request note , what you get to do when you use Yelp Order system, didn't happen.
