We live in Tomball and our close friends just moved to The Woodlands, so we tried Craft Grill as an "in-between" place for us to meet up for dinner. We were not disappointed! The place was packed for a Friday evening, but that is to be expected anywhere. We waited at the bar and had a couple beers from their vast selection on tap. Once seated, our waitress was prompt with getting appetizers ordered. Bama Balls were amazing, and the crab cakes were good. Chicken and waffles was a huge hit (a bit spicy, but delicious when dunked in syrup!). Shrimp and Grits were very good as well. read more

Just left Craft Grill after eating for the first time. The food was mediocre. The 'Bama balls came out first... I sliced one open and there was a COLD cube of cheese surrounded around the macaroni and cheese. Waitress apologized and brought us another batch that had at least a warm center, but wasn't melted. The pretzels were pretty good and the queso was the best thing we ate. Though we had to request an extra ramekin of queso because the two pretzels come with enough cheese for only one. I visited today with my dad for the Park 4 Paws car meet. It was a great time and I think it's wonderful that they are willing to reach out to the community. My dad and I both had the Texian burger with bacon bits mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was not my forte, but it had bacon and I think that's great. The burger was awesome. It has pico de gallo, queso, avocado, and a little jalapeño. It was delicious and just the variety I needed for my burger needs. I will definitely come back at some time. read more

Below average beer selection and a Mediocre menu make Craft a place you can skip without many regrets. The place is new, which explains why the waits are long these days but once the newness fizzled out, I cannot see the place last any longer. I ordered Goose Island stout, what they brought out was the Goose Island IPA. When I informed the waitress(who was really nice) she apologized and offered to replace the drink. She came back with, "we're sold out of the stout". Now I can totally understand selling out, but please indicate that to the customer when they are looking at the menu. For the entrees, I ordered Grilled Chicken with Cilantro lime rice and Fries. Turns out they were out of rice so brought me Mashed Potatoes instead(without even asking). I don't know how Mashed Potatoes are a replacement for rice and I don't know why it's difficult to have a quick word with the customer. Again, when I mentioned it to our waitress, she gladly brought me some veggies. So I suspect, the bar and the kitchen do as they please with replacing drinks and side items. I probably won't go here again. There are other places with better food and beer selection. read more

As the two-star rating description suggests, "Meh. I've experienced better." My girlfriend and I have been here two times now. I don't want to speak for her, but I'm losing patience - mostly with the food quality. It's average. On our last visit, I had the COD's Jalapeno-Queso Cheesesteak. It just didn't bowl me over flavor-wise, but it was edible. As for beers and wines, the selection is decent. The self-serve wine dispenser is a nice twist and allows you to buy different size pours with a prepaid card. Fine tune it a bit with a few more premium offerings. In its defense, Craft Grill's service and attentiveness is very good. Besides our waiter, we had at least two other people stop by our table to ask how things were. Perhaps we should've been up front then, but I think this venue will hopefully get their attention. Overall, this place has real potential if it can do something with the menu. If you're going to stick with your Southern cooking theme, bring in a chef or consultant with expertise in this cuisine who can make recommendations to jazz up the flavor. Maybe even offer a few healthy alternatives, such as turkey burgers. I really want to like this place. But there's work to be done ... read more

We chose the TV-encrusted bar area where we found the delightfully attentive and friendly Amber ready to take orders. We selected Deviled Eggs, wonderfully paired with fresh basil and rich, enough for two. Mains followed. Me: Fried Catfish, tomato-basil soup, slaw. Guest (son): Chicken-fried Steak, mashed potatoes/gravy, bacon mac & cheese, and a craft beer. For some, the catfish may have been "well-done" but as we all should know, there's few things worse than under-done catfish. Anyway it paired well with the "come back sauce," a substitute for tartar sauce. The boy (21) couldn't finish his carb-stacked selection but managed to finish beer, leaving potatoes and mac. We came here to see what all the hype is about. They don't have reservations but do offer call ahead. We did the call ahead and once we got there were promptly seated in the bar area. I would have liked a regular table, but the bar area is nice. Service is good, they are still working on kitchen times and getting used to busy nights. The servers help each other which shows teamwork. We had to remind for drink refills and she got better at it as the meal progressed. She was always smiling and made recommendations. They have happy hour until 6pm so we were able to get some Bama balls and lucky we did. The outside is crunchy and fried perfectly. The inside is cheesy goodness. Yes, you can make a meal off these. We think a good addition to these would be bacon and/or jalapeños giving another layer of flavor and contrast. I had the tomato soup- more like a bisque as it is chunky and thick. I like the onions and tomatoes along with shaved parmesian plus little strips of basil. Yummy soup. Also, I tried the Mississippi catfish. It is $12 and comes with 3 small catfish beer battered, 6 hushpuppies, coleslaw, and a Mississippi sauce. I like the sauce as it has a great spiciness to it. The hushpuppies are tasty and crispy. The coleslaw was creamy but not overly, the vegies were fresh and crisp. The catfish have a good batter reminded me of English fish n chips, and the fish was cooked well with a light flavor. I was a little disappointed in the size. Heath got the chicken fried steak. Good portion of gravy, size is decent, and battered well. The steak was fork tender. Tried this place with them being open only one week. Should have waited a little longer.... 1) That table in the bar area that has the booth on one side and bar stools on the other is terrible!!! The height of the table is too high for the booth and too low for the bar stools. That needs to be addressed. We asked to be moved and saw two other groups of people seated there do the same. 2) Beer taps were having shelves added DURING HAPPY HOUR!! Draft beer was "unavailable" for an hour and a half. I'm not in the food & beverage industry, but even I know that's bad business. 3) I ordered pork sliders and the waiter asked me how I wanted it cooked. I was confused and said "it's pork...well done??" His question made sense when I ended up with the pimento burger. I hate pimento cheese but didn't feel like dealing with sending it back. Smh... 4) My boyfriend ordered a chicken salad and it looked like a bagged salad from the grocery store. For $11!!! Not sure if we will be back. The beer list seemed good. Had an amazing delicious meal at Craft Grill tonight. Started with Bama balls, campechana and pretzels with Connie's queso! So good! The Bama balls were crispy on the outside and creamy and cheesy on the inside accompanied with Tito's sauce. The warm soft pretzel paired nicely with Connie's queso. My bone-in double cut pork chop was one of the best pork chop I have ever had, so tender and juicy with Dr. Pepper bbq sauce. Made room( don't know how) for fried apple pie and ice cream and sheet cake brownie, yummy! Service was impeccable! Thank you Brandon for taking care of us! We sat and watched him yell at an employee because he didn't like the way she "placed the menus on the table." I really wanted this to be good. It wasn't. We ordered take out. Order was wrong. Unfortunately we didn't notice until we got home and opened boxes. We live close, so we ran back. It was annoying. I ordered tomato soup -- no. It tasted like marinara sauce. Tortilla soup is on menu but they said they no longer serve it. The menu has a ton of different type dishes -- I suppose all southern, but the diversity made me think that they're not going to do anything well since they have so so much. We ordered the pretzel with queso -- pretzel ok, but there was only a thimble size cup of queso. I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. The chicken fried steak was ok -- just ok. There was bacon in gravy. Not good. Mashed potatoes were just ok. Meh. Too salty. We got the hush puppies as well. Dry. The meal they mistakenly sent was grilled chicken with cilantro etc. It was so gross -- rubber chicken and sour tomatoes and onions. I was really anticipating having a good neighborhood restaurant with craft beer. It isn't good. I don't see ever eating there again. It just doesn't taste good. read more

So I finally decided to place a review on Craft grill. I came here a couple of months ago when I yelped for banana pudding and I wasnt disappointed it was delicious. That time I had a waitress that was super attentive and nice to my whole family. It was a great experience and they reason why I choose to return. I decided to come again for my friends bday dinner which would be my treat because she rarely comes out. When we arrived we were seated immediately which was nice and our orders for drinks were taken. Unfortunately we had a very young server this time and she seemed to be rushing us through not only our meal but it seemed as she didnt want to serve us. I kept brushing it off as sometimes I can be extreme but than my friend noticed it too. The table next to us had finished their meal and was talking with their family and they didnt get the same treatment. I really enjoyed my meal as did my friends but this young lady made me feel soon type of way and this is why I give it 3 stars. Guys we still left her a 25 tip. If she thought Mexicans dont tip we do, and we still do when we get bad servers. To the owner I am sure this isn't something that is accepted from and employee and I dont blame you. I will return because I enjoyed my meal but I will look for the lady who waited on us the last time. read more

After drooling over their photos on Instagram for over a year, I finally drove from Kingwood over to my old stomping grounds to give this place a try. The restaurant has a cool atmosphere, very chill and not too loud. The food, oh the food!!!! The menu had so many unique choices it was really hard to decide. My boyfriend had the All American Burger and I had the southwest salmon. OH!MY!GOSH! We barely even talked to each other because we were so consumed by the overwhelming deliciousness of our food. We saw how busy the restaurant was with the outside patio completely full. It's always a good sign when it's a packed house! The wait wasn't long for a Saturday night maybe 15 minutes. The hostess was very friendly and gave us an accurate timeframe to wait for a table. We picked to sit outside since they had heaters. Service here is excellent! They really do take great care of you. The food here is also a great deal and tasty! Everything was seasoned perfectly and portion are on the larger size too. I ordered the appetizer Nachos and the Chicken Fried Steak. Both I highly recommend and with a side of the bacon mac and cheese. You won't be disappointed if you come try. read more

You can order a small medium or large glass. They charge by the size. I'm planning to trying it sometime. It's an odd place to store it but it's there. I was disappointed that they did not have macaroni and cheese. I tried some mashed potatoes and they were really good. The catfish I ordered was small and not very well seasoned. The corn was dry like it had been sitting there all day needed some water and butter. The cilantro rice was mushy and not that great. Tartar sauce was good and so was the wine I ordered. My boyfriend's chicken fried steak was also very good. The best thing of all tonight was the crab cakes. I will give this place another try. Maybe next time they will kick it up a notch. 2nd time giving this place a try. Somehow i deleted the 1st one. Friendly staff like always but this does not make up for theflavorless food they have. This time I tried the salmon and it had no flavor whatsoever. The macaroni and cheese was dry and hard, like it had been sitring out all day. It was not creamy at all. The only thing that is good there so far are the crabcakes, tea, tarter sauce & mashed potatoes. My dinner date had the chicken fried steak & was very satisfied. I'm assuming the gravy was good. Went during happy hour. Only had queso to eat and it was good. Good enough we ordered 2nd bowl. Beer selection was pretty good and prices seem about normal for area. I'm a cigar smoker so it was nice to be able to sit on patio and smoke and also nice that a fan was blowing so my smoke blew away from other customers. Only complaint was service could better. First it took a while to get our drinks. I also asked for water and they forgot. Then brought two glasses. Then someone else brought two more. Ask for second round of drinks and it took forever. Asked again and got them. Waitress made point of saying we got them one minute before happy hour ended.
