They are following COVID19 guidelines - checking temperatures and wearing masks, but could social distance a bit better, they have the space for it. Food was good. Soooooooooooooooooooo, while I consider myself a foodie and I am definitely a chef. I have never had crab legs before October 2020. I don't know why we didn't eat them growing up but we didn't. For the longest time I was uninterested. However, on a whim, I ordered some snow crab legs from Lotus seafood and fell in LOVE. Soooooooooooooooooooo, I decided to order more crab legs for my coworkers and I on another night and Lotus was closed. I decided to order from here instead. I ended up buying lobster in garlic butter and king crab legs in lemon pepper sauce. I think both were medium spice. Bleh and meh! I forgot what came with what. They provided potatoes and corn as part of the orders. The lobster was cooked very well but it was super super salty. Super salty and the spice sauce smelled weird. The king crab legs were salty as well but appropriately spicy. The sauce also smelled weird. I don't think I like king crab legs. Tastes too much like chicken and not sweet. We finally visited again while this virus is going on since we were craving crab. I wanted to Dungeness crab but not everyone sells them. Crafty Crab does and they are soooo good! I love Dungeness more than snow crab. The flavor of Dungeness crab are so flavorful, perfect texture of meat and really good. I hope this restaurant survives this pandemic because the 2 times I've been, the food is really good and the restaurant is always clean. They were distancing customers away from one another which was good. The waitstaff wore gloves and masks. Everything was sanitized. I don't know how often they change their gloves but hopefully it's every time they touch something new and before going to a new table because otherwise the glove thing doesn't work and more germs are continually spread. It's good for everyone to carry their own wipes as well everywhere they go while this virus is around. The bathrooms were clean as well which is good. Again, I don't know how often anyone is sanitizing the restrooms though. We will be back again for Dungeness crab. read more

Meaning you cannot say I want to order 1 sausage to go with my food or 1 crab. They make you order by the pound and however much comes with that is what you get. That I DO NOT LIKE! First time visiting and honestly if you've visited one seafood boil joint you've visited them all. Food wasn't bad but definitely didn't stand out. I've had better boils at home so I was looking for something that was a bit different from what I'm able to produce myself. Our waitress Alex(Girl), was super nice and very accommodating. Being that she was so friendly my party decided not to mention the underseasoned shrimp/ crab/ etc. I would visit again but perhaps a different location because I was told that the flavor/ seasoning differs at each location. Decided to check this place out and I was not disappointed. From beginning to end the experience was great. I'm sorry we didn't have any pics but the food came out and looked to good we had to start eating ASAP. Everything was full of flavor and you can tell the seafood was fresh. I can never get enough of crawfish and I know what's good and what's not. All the tails were tucked in which is always a plus. I will come back and make sure to support a business like this. Incredibly hard to remove from the shell, indicating bad or old crab legs. The crab meat was almost impossible to remove from the shell, indicating over cooking ... was very dry, stuck to the inside of the shell, making it nearly impossible to remove. Ended up throwing half of it out. The corn that came with the steam bag was very tough and incredibly overcooked. The potatoes were actually the star of the meal - cooked just right. ... That's why I gave one star. Atmosphere here was incredibly uninviting, right down to the Sheriff's Constable sitting at the front entrance. (That should have been the sign to "GO AWAY"). All in all, I will not go back. Especially after the waitress told me the gumbo was bad, and not to get it. I will not return. I ended up getting a combo at Popeye's right next door. My friend recommended this place but after reading all these negative reviews I just told her idk about this one, but she persuaded me to give it a try & so I did. Let's start with the service, I didn't particularly like the hostess attitude. She wasn't really welcoming & seemed annoyed. Our server (Martinez) on the other hand was very accommodating & nice to us. I decided to get their snow crab & whole shrimp & I picked "The BOOM" as the seasoning (medium spice). I really enjoyed the seasoning it was garlicky buttery & had a nice Cajun spice to it. I didn't get any of the lemon pepper taste so that was a let down because this sauce was suppose to be all 3 seasonings mixed together. The sauce was a little oily but it didn't have any effect on the taste of the food, I just basically dipped around the oil. The crab was cooked nicely, I enjoyed the sausage, the shrimp was amazing and not soggy & the corn & potatoes were alright. The Crafty Crab- fun name and logo. Unfortunately no craft in service. My mom really wanted a seafood boil and decided to dine here. The location is a hole in the wall in the gym strip center, but I was impressed to realize how large it is inside. That said, a man in a sheriffs uniform ( off duty officer possibly??) asked us to wait for the host. While we waited I noticed there was a wall of 'dash-n-dine'. It's weird to walk in to a restaurant and see this first. It made me wonder about the neighborhood and then it made me question what management wants me to think of this. Welcomed? On alert? Threatened? Our host told us it would be two minutes for a clean table and a 30 minute wait for food. No argument there. We were sat at a table 5 mins later, but then we didn't see a waiter ask us for our drink orders for another 20 minutes! We ordered our drinks and meals, because I didn't know when we would see her again. I have some instincts! The bad: -- more wait time. Everyone in my party for their drinks after 15 minutes. The food arrived nearly 40 mins later. --The waitress asked us if we wanted plates and she zoomed off. We never got the plates and she never told us what happened. -- the waitress never asked us if we wanted silverware( we're aware eating with your hands is acceptable in these types of restaurants and especially for a boil, but it would have been nice to be asked and offered gloves at the very least).also, How does a restaurant expect you to eat crabs without crackers? -- I initially ordered an additional 1lb of sausage, but they slice it like pizza pepperoni. Was there 1 1/4 lbs in in the bag? who knows. Here is where having a fork would have been nice too, especially if you are sharing a bag. -- halfway through my boil I asked about my ice tea again and I get it 10 mins later (we saw the waitress so sparingly it was hard to remind anyone, but she certainly was rushing to the other tables) -- I cancelled my hush puppy order because I won't need them since I'm halfway through -- The bathroom was sloppy and another guest mentioned he thought he was going to get a disease while I was in there. When I first moved to Houston in January, the same week I moved my friend and I went here. A Maryland/DC native, I am *very* particular about my crabs (it's blue crabs or nothing for me!). Crafty Crab totally delivered on taste and variety. I opted for a boil, which came with shrimp, potatoes, and clams. The flavor and seasonings were so good. Second time visiting this restaurant. First visit was at Pearland second one was here. I love that the food and flavors are consistent. Our server was awesome. We had a party of 6 and they you they add 15% gratuity. Server told us about this upfront. I was like that was cool but make sure you earn it and also by doing that you limit yourself on that. She answered our questions about the menu and was very patience. She even bought us samples of the gumbo to try. We ended passing on the gumbo. Worked at nearby hospital for thanksgiving day got off early and decided to ride down westheimer to see what was open ... saw they were opened popped in ... was few in number due to the Holiday I sat was checked on about 3-5 mins of sitting. He saw the drink he's say that's not the drink I made... I said what you mean it's not the drink you made?!?I can't say for sure what happened but what I do know is that is horrible and very hazardous! I don't think management was even informed of the mishap.... Was from an old strainer or carelessness at its finest . He made me another green in appearance and was ok. My family and I tried this place last weekend and we thought it was pretty good. My wife and I bother ordered the B, which was snow crab and whole shrimp. I ordered sausage and a lobster tail in mine. We both got the boom seasoning, which is a mixture between all of their seasonings together. The seafood was really good and I'd highly recommend trying them out. I also ordered gumbo. I am from Louisiana and the gumbo was definitely not what I'm used to.
