My family and I love RA Sushi. Solid spot, variety of sushi and food options. They offer cooked, fried and raw sushi. If you don't want sushi they have several other options like bento box, ramen and hibachi. I recommend got trying anything here as it's all good except for the Ramen. I wasn't a fan of the ramen as the noodles were the very thick kind. Not your traditional thin or curly ramen noodles. The service is always good and restaurant is always clean. Recently went to RA sushi. It's been awhile because it's far from me but was on this side of town for work so popped in. It was about 4:30 so the restaurant was pretty empty, which was nice for a quiet meal by myself. It still took a few minutes though to be initially greeted after being seated. I ordered the chirashi poke bowl which came with miso soup and a snack roll of tempura sushi. Unfortunately the tuna in the poke bowl tasted fishy, and the portion is kind of small for the price which I'd gladly accept for high quality sushi but this was not that. The miso soup was delicious and actually a sizable position for a side. The tempura shrimp snack roll is a measly 4 pieces, not large pieces and it was an average shrimp tempura roll, the only stand out was the sesame seeds on the outside. It definitely didn't live up to what I was used to for RA sushi. And when I was ready to go, I kept looking around for my waiter or anyone to get my check and it took 10 minutes of me looking, turning around in my chair for anyone to notice in the empty restaurant with my waiter stuck on his phone behind the bar. read more

Unfortunately I did not have an enjoyable visit. This is my first time dining at the memorial location and will be my last. I came out around 1:30 pm on a weekday and upon arrival I was seated instantly. Even though there weren't many customers it took about 10 minutes for my server to come and greet me and ask if I wanted to start off with any drinks. By the time she came I was ready to order and was asking her questions about the menu but she seemed very unfamiliar with it and couldn't give me clear answers. I didn't mind her going to double check with the kitchen but it seemed as if she kept trying to make assumptions about how the dishes were prepared without being completely sure of it. I ended up ordering a plain snack size shrimp tempura roll, shrimp fried rice, sesame garlic wings, and pineapple cake. Maybe I should've specified how I wanted the order of my food to come out but one of the first things that came out was the pineapple cake served with ice cream which I found very odd! I've never had my dessert come out first when dining out, so by the time I got to taste it at the end of my meal all the ice cream melted and the cake was no longer warm. My wings and fried rice were also brought out at the same time with the cake. As I was about to eat my wings there was a long blonde hair underneath and between two wings. At this point I kind of checked out and realized I wasn't going to have a good experience. I verified with my server that she saw the hair as well and asked her to kindly remake them which she did. Finally at the end of everything my sushi came out, and I believe my shrimp were undercooked but I didn't even complain because it wasn't worth it. As for the wings and fried rice it was decent but not great. I also ordered a strawberry lemonade to go, and it was brought out in a kids cup which has never been given to me at other locations. Overall, it just wasn't a good dining experience for me what so ever. I didn't feel any type of warm or welcoming hospitality. I was looking forward to this visit because I was redeeming my birthday reward for being a member, but I just wish I would've stuck to the highland village location! **Additionally, parking is a pain in citycentre!!!! They do have some garages that allow you to park for free at upper levels which is what I did but you will have to walk. I work at Citi Centand I'm a couple of minutes from this place. Unfortunately I have not yet experienced this location, only the Galleria one over a decade ago. Me and my boyfriend ate here a couple of weeks ago. It was a Sunday night and we were really looking forward to some sushi. It was not our first time, we had a pleasant time the first time,however this time it was different. We ordered the spicy tuna and two soups with tofu and seaweed. After we had seconds of the spicy tuna we had a tingling sensation in our tongue. We did not think too much of it; we did however asked one of the waiters if it was normal, however we didn't really get a clear answer it was kinda shrugged off. I really like this location ( along with their Westheimer location). I typically ask for a sushi roll that they don't have on the menu, and they always graciously accommodate me, and do a darn good job with it too! Shout out to the wait staff at this location for taking good care of our table. Great service, if I might add. They made a fried smoked salmon roll, drizzled with eel sauce and pico for me (not on the menu), and it was divine! I also ordered a chicken fried rice which was just as yummy. To wash it all down, I went with their Carribean Passion mocktail that was so refreshing. Always a good time at RA. Ambiance is chic, yet casual with an Asian influence. Seating is available both inside and outside (patio). Convenient parking is available at this location either on street or parking garage. To get to inside the restaurant there are stairs or elevators to use, since the restaurantis located on the 2nd floor. Stellar Service Saves the Day at Ra Sushi Bar (City Centre) My wife, son, and I made our annual trip to City Centre to enjoy the Christmas décor and had a 6:45 PM reservation at Ra Sushi Bar on a Saturday evening. We don't frequent this area, but we'd certainly consider making the trip again after this experience. Upon arrival, the restaurant was at about 50% capacity, including one very large party. We settled in and ordered our drinks--Hot Sake for my wife and me, and a Caribbean Passion Fruit Mocktail for my son--along with three appetizers: Shishito Peppers, Lobster Inferno, and Chili Ponzu Yellowtail. Our initial drinks, appetizers, salads, and miso soup arrived promptly. However, things quickly changed. The restaurant unexpectedly jumped to over 90% capacity in a short amount of time. We placed our entrée order for the Sushi and Nigiri Assortment and began a significant wait. Although we felt the restaurant was slammed, we weren't upset because the appetizers had kept the hunger at bay. Our server, Evan, was attentive and periodically checked on us, assuring us the order was coming. Above and Beyond Customer Care The real test of a restaurant is how they handle mistakes, and Ra Sushi Bar passed with flying colors. After a prolonged wait, the manager, Silvana, approached our table. She sincerely apologized, explaining there had been a system glitch that prevented our entrée order from being sent to the Sushi Bar. She immediately offered to comp our dessert as compensation for the long wait. When our delicious sushi finally arrived (about 15 minutes after her apology), we ordered another round of sake. Evan then went the extra mile, informing us that our next round of sake was on him to further make up for the delay! We were truly impressed by the genuine effort from both Evan and Silvana to turn a frustrating situation around. They both provided service that was truly above and beyond. The Verdict While we rarely come to the City Centre area (we live in Cypress), Ra Sushi Bar's staff showed remarkable professionalism, ownership, and generosity. I will start by saying I used to go to the location near the galleria all the time. Tried this location today and received the worst service I have probable received from a restaurant in a while. For starters the appetizer plates they brought out were all dirty and we had to send them back. After that our meal came out before our appetizer (appetizer was ordered about 10 minutes before meal). Unfortunately we were disappointed with the quality of food when we last visited. Last time we went to Ra was ~4 years ago and we had such a positive memory then. Flash forward to today and we spent $110 (excluding tip) on food that tasted equivalent to mall sushi/fast food. Started off with one of the fried shrimp appetizers with sauce on the side and it reminded me of what I buy from Costco. This was $17- insane. Bf ordered Vegas rolls and presentation looks good and was edible, but again did not seem worth the $20 tag. I unfortunately forgot to take a pic of my plate, but I ordered the hibachi plate with shrimp and steak (almost $50) and again just disappointed with overall taste. It all seemed on par with what I could get at HEB or at my local restaurant for half the price. Overall everything seemed $$$ and didn't seem worth it. I don't mind paying top dollar for ambiance or ingredients, but ingredients were standard at best and the space while clean and modern, was not enough to warrant prices (compared to an expensive rooftop bar for example). My have things changed. I came for lunch today, and there was no or at the host area. So, instead of continuing to wait, I decided to just seat myself at the bar area. After another, maybe 3 minutes, I look for SOMEONE and ask them if I could have the server. The guy I spoke to looked around and then conceded to just take my order himself. He told me he would pass it to my server. Now... I've been waiting here for an additional 10 minutes. I ordered a steak teriyaki bento box. They always send out the miso soup maybe 1-2 minutes afterward. I had to ask... again... the bartender who had no customers if my order was actually processed. He said yes. Then he said he would go check on it. Mind you, I've seen my server maybe 3 separate times during this and he had not ONCE came to check on me OR come to confirm with me that he had, indeed, processed my order to put me at ease. Nothing. Bartender brings me out my miso soup. ANOTHER 5 minutes later, I see the server assigned to me. He has a bento box in one hand and fried rice in the other. I was guessing that it was someone else's order. Nope. Not completely. He PASSES me, and my area goes to place the fried rice on the table, then walls AALLLLLL the way back to then deliver my bento box to me. I'm pissed with ALL pissivity. Amid allll the rooky mistakes he had made THROUGHOUT my experience, I still chose to give him grace. My extended grace was met with complete apathy and no apologies. We enjoyed drinks & appetizer, main dishes took over twenties minutes from first entree to hit the table to the last, and they were the same exact dish. Hot dishes were like warm at best. The wait person had little table management, mostly invisible & left dirty dishes & empty beer bottles through dessert. They took the last dish off the bill, but too little too late. This is a torched roll, which I don't think I've had before. The server told me it was one of his favorites. I always wonder if they just say that to get you to order something expensive, but I really believed him after I tried it! It was one of those meals where you're sad when it's over, and I defintely was. It had halapenos and torched tuna on top. With my favorite basics, tuna and avocado inside. You could definitely taste the flame broiledness (not sure how else to say that) of the tuna. Delicious!! I also had the pork gyoza - happy hour price which is $6.60. I rarely write reviews, but I found writing one necessary today to express my party's disdain for this experience. This is a restaurant we used to frequent but won't anytime soon. Service quality definitely worsened since I last came. She came by with the refills after the meals were finished past when they were actually necessary. We waited twenty minutes. before she came by after seating us to finally order, sitting around with menus in our hands. We saw maybe two waitresses strolling around the busy restaurant. I ordered the garlic edamame, the salmon sashimi, and a rainbow roll. Rainbow roll was good, but I found a little hair on the plate that was too short and straight to belong to my party, like someone had had a haircut. Yuck. Instant mood-ruiner. I could not finish the plate after seeing that. I couldn't even request a different plate for the waitress was absent. I did not like the sashimi. Salmon is my favorite. Two slices were attached by a thick section of fat. The rest also had fat, which forced me to leave un-chewed bits. Garlic edamame was good. As for the rest of the party, all complained of smaller portions sizes. Everything has shrunk, and prices haven't, unfortunately. Flavor has weakened and worsened. Mind you, they ordered Rackin' rolls and Las Vegas rolls, which I'd argue are the best on the menu. All in all, we will be leaving this restaurant in the past, unfortunately. Ra Sushi in CityCentre delivers a mixed experience that ultimately fails to justify its price point, despite some genuine bright spots. To start on a positive note, the service was excellent. The staff was attentive, professional, and clearly working hard despite being short-staffed. That effort showed and deserves credit. Unfortunately, the physical environment presents a serious concern. The dining room floor was dangerously slippery--multiple guests slipped during our visit. No one fell while we were there, but it felt inevitable. This is not a minor inconvenience; it's a safety issue that needs immediate attention. We opened with the mango ceviche, which was genuinely very good--bright, fresh, and well balanced. However, it arrived last, well after other items had hit the table. Adding insult to injury, when we ran out of chips, a small bowl of refills came with a $1 charge. Nickel-and-diming at this price point is never a good look. The "Adults Only" roll came with a dramatic flaming presentation that was visually fun, but functionally flawed. The flame singed the sushi enough that we had to blow it out at the table, and it slightly overcooked parts of the roll. That said, the flavors were strong, and we did enjoy it overall. We also ordered salmon and yellowtail sashimi. Portions were respectable--six pieces per order--and at $16.50 each, the value felt reasonable. The yellowtail was excellent and clearly the standout. The salmon, however, was inconsistent. The first bite was noticeably fishy, lacking the clean, sweet, buttery profile you hope for. Subsequent bites were better, but first impressions matter with raw fish. The biggest miss of the meal may have been the tea. It had an unpleasant, dry raspberry flavor and was essentially undrinkable--yet still rang in at $4 on the bill. In the end, lunch totaled around $120, and for that spend, the experience simply didn't deliver. Between safety concerns, inconsistent fish quality, questionable upcharges, and forgettable beverages, Ra Sushi didn't earn a return visit. Good service can't fully compensate for execution and value issues--and at this price point, expectations are higher. read more
