This is my brother's favorite restaurant so I have been here a number of times with him. While I love my brother I do not particularly love Crandalls. Positives: Roomy dining area and a menu which focuses on their specialties. OK: Service was just OK, nothing more. Chicken is OK. Meh: Cole slaw and mashed potatoes were a bit less than ordinary Negatives: The attitude people bring with them when they head to an all you can eat restaurant. I've only eaten one thing here so my review is just about that. Friday night is all you can eat broasted chicken night. If you don't know what broasted is well it's a cross between roasted and baked. All that means is technically it's not fried in lots of oil but the outcome is some darn juicy and crispy chicken. This stuff is delicious. The meal comes with cole slaw and your choice of potatoes. I always get the potato pancakes. These are a lot more pancake like than latke like so think soft and not as crispy but still yummy with applesauce. There's a full bar to go with your meal and they have a homemade pie and sundae dessert menu. Go early or be prepared to wait. But there are tables outside and you get to stare at the giant chicken. This competes well with Friday fish fry if you are looking for a change. read more

Stopped in for my first time today and it's safe to say I'll be coming back. Had the all you can eat chicken (white meat only, you get to choose) with fries and it was phenomenal. The chicken is crazy good. The service was great, very friendly folks. I finished my meal with coconut cream pie and a cup of coffee which was icing on the cake. We ventured out one Saturday to one of the orchards in the area and on the way back home we stopped here for dinner. Parking lot was completely packed with cars so that's a good sign. Not a long wait and were seated with recommendations from our server. We got the Broasted Chicken which is their specialty here. Not to be missed - excellent. Not only is it delicious but its all you can eat. The sides were good and we landed on the Coconut Pie for dessert which was just over the top good. Best broasted chicken eva! I've honestly have never had anything else off the menu but the chicken. They say all you can eat but I've never met that challenge. There is plenty of seating and parking but during the summer with all the Wisco bound traffic it can get real busy and packed fast. So be prepared for a short wait. Love this place. My family and I have been coming here for years and probably will keep going there many years to come. The reason? The chicken! Well, lets see - you come in on a night when they do a very good fish fry, coupled with all you can eat chicken [which you can do an all you can eat chicken and fish combo] and you expect flawless service? Idiots. Once in a while I have had cool chicken, but not as a matter of course. If you expect you can't eat all of the chicken you'll be served - order the chicken dinner and not the all you can eat. As a regular customer I'm sad to say that I'm done dining here. I just called to order a 2 piece chicken dinner and wanted two breast because I usually get a wing with no meat. The wings are so bad that they actually could pass for a parakeet wing. I ENTIRELY expected to pay more but they would not do a 2 piece breast PERIOD. So, the ignorance to not be able to charge the customer more and just deny. They've lost 3 regular customers PERIOD! We have come here for Fish Fry and we decided to try the Sunday Brunch. Very Good selection of "Brunchy" food. They also have their Chicken and rib pieces. So there is something for everyone. Plus one side of the buffet has desserts! We will be back. read more

We traveled over 50 miles for the broasted chicken. We haven't been here for a couple of years, since our kids moved back to Wisconsin, and it was as good as I remember. If there is a negative, your only choices for the chicken is a 2 piece lunch or all you can eat. There are signs on the table reminding you that all you can eat means in the restaurant, not at home also. I can't eat that much at one time, but they allowed me to take home whatever was uneaten from the initial serving. I appreciated that. read more

I took my mom and dad for lunch a week ago excited for them to come to Crandall's. But to my dismay my lunch was terrible. The chicken had been sitting under a heat lamp and was cold, and my mashed potatoes had a hard crust on them. I was very disappointed this wasn't the first time I was disappointed. OK, I've got to give some kudos here... As I said in my original review, the chicken here is awesome and worth any delays you might experience due to service. Well, after my last three visits (spread out since July or August) the service has actually improved significantly. I know they didn't dump the whole wait staff since I've seen some of the older ones still there so I'm not sure what the cause was. All I know is, the service has been pretty good! Last year on our drive back from Lake Geneva, we passed by Crandalls, and made it a point to check it out sometime in the near future. Well, we finally had our chance. Crandalls is a great family restaurant and the menu is varied enough for most appetites. I was very impressed with my choice of a chicken salad. The dressing was amazing and the chicken tasted fresh. Our kids ordered off of the kids menu and, of course, ordered the chicken strips. They were obviously not from a frozen box, and they tasted great! I have not been to Crandalls for at least ten years, my friends used to rave about their fish fry which I always thought was mediocre. Heard about how great the fried chicken was so we thought let's go! The hostess could not have been more rude. All the food was cool to cold. Friday all you can eat. It's been constant for many years. Servers do there best for a busy Friday. Fish was good, I usually just order chicken. But chicken was greasy and tough. The last couple of visits. The potatoe pancakes were very greasy and the cole slaw swam in dressing needed a lot more slaw. They should stop giving desert rolls before the meal. I've heard of this place from a buddy and decided to take the 50 min road trip there. The place is in h th joe middle of nowhere. Plenty of parking which fills up fast. Lot of locals and feels like an old converted farmhouse with a couple of additions. Clean. Staff semi friendly. Beer ice cold, bottles only. Had to get the all u can eat chicken which is the only way u can get 2 breasts. The pieces looked real small but had a ton of juicy meat and the skin wasn't greasy. Needed some kind of seasoning though. My wife got the 2 pc lunch which was one breast and a wing that must have been from a baby chick. About 1" big and no meat. Cole slaw was creamy and good. Rolls before were stale or had been reheated. Fries were good and looked like fresh cut but weren't. 3-4 stars is it and not worth the gas I spent going up there. lunch read more

Delicious food! Arrived for a fish fry and had about a 20 minute wait for 7 people. Large dining area and big tables makes it comfortable for the entire family. I have a ton of food allergies and was able to have the gluten free baked cod with a home made dill sauce. Really good and nice portion of food! Will be going back to try more options! I have been coming to Crandalls for years - a phenomenal establishment with a great community vibe. I'm surprised it doesn't have a higher rating. The fried chicken is consistently good, and you cannot leave without ordering a piece of chocolate cake. My boyfriend and I once came just for a slice of cake to go. I understand that we see in COVID. However, I have to compare our service to other tables. It took them more than 10 minutes to welcome us and longer for basic drinks (ie wager), drinks were never refilled, and never brought us our rolls which are part of the experience. I looked around and other tables were getting refills on drinks and were served with attention. Not us! Food was pretty good, I had the breasted chicken and loved it. The food was good however it was the service that was horrible. We were the only people in the restaurant, sat down, placed our order and watched 4 to 5 other tables be seated after us. We came in for the broasted chicken and sat waiting for our order when I just happen to notice that every person seated AFTER us were being served their meals. And they had ordered the chicken as well. After everyone else received their dinners, then our waitress finally brings ours out. Never once came by to ask how things were, never offered to refill our glasses.. nothing. When she finally did come by we were both so angry we just wanted to pay our bill and get out of there.
