We have frequented Crandalls over the years and used to really enjoy it. But, it has really gone down hill. The food was just adequate and very high priced for what you get. We ordered the broasted chicken, which is their signature menu item. Our only choice was "all you can eat" which does not appeal to me at all. The chicken was only mediocre at best, the mashed potatoes must have been left over from previous days, and the slaw was good but skimpy. Don't was your gas or money. Crandalls is not worth the trip. read more

The breasted chicken was good. The cole slaw was a little bitter. Good service. Good fries. Warm rolls. But, for this breasted chicken lover, not a good value. $12.95 for all you can eat is too expensive. To get the most bang from your buck, you'd have to eat 12+ pieces of chicken, which is a little much for the average person. Still, a nice meal. Service is awesome. Barb is the best waitress on this planet! Food is tremendous. Known for their chicken and after you try it, you will know why. They also have a buffet which we have tried and it also is terrific. We did Mother's Day there once, and we'll do it again. Mom loved it. Very reasonable prices. I ordered the steak and shrimp. I asked for my shrimp to be substituted with their gluten free shrimp and they charged me an additional $9 for 3 shrimp. Seems like too much money for a substitute to me. I wrote to them and asked for this to be brought to the attention of the manager/owner, but no response. read more

Loved their all you can eat broasted chicken. Most and full of flavor. Mashed potatoes are outstanding. Great rolls with dinner. We had two children with us and the waitress was so great with them. Very comfortable atmosphere. Will be back again. read more

I LOVE Crandalls. Excellent food. The wait staff is top notch! The NEW bartender. . . .on Friday nights. . . not a fan. She serves her locals, without asking what they want. Not good, sometimes the locals do NOT want booze. They want a soda or water with their dinner. After serving the local person, then she she acknowledges their guest, Ummmm, she needs to address both of us and ask what we would like. Not just shove an expensive beer in the one locals face. That completely changes the mood of the people dating and eating there. They come in for dinner, not always booze drinks, but too late, beer in your face and a charge for it. When she DID ask, "do you want another, the reply was no thank you, cash me out, I know you are closed". Boom, another beer was opened and served! I even called her out on it! Said, " um hun, he said NO to another beer". Her reply was, oh, i I misunderstood" The restaurant was closed! We wanted to go home, so the staff could too! Being charged for the beer, of course it was drank. Not happy at all with the new bartender. Crandnallls is classy and fun. I feel that the new gal, bar tending, is not a good fit. Because we ended up being the last group there, Not by choice, but by being over served. Just to make tips, in my opinion. We still will continue to eat there weekly, But it won't because of the new bar tender. Please talk to her about service. read more

Do NOT have your private party at Crandall's. Our son's rehearsal lunch was planned there for months. They promised me the restaurant area that faces their yard. Although I wanted everything in writing, the owner said "they're out in the country and we don't do things that way." In addition, through out many phone calls, I received conflicting information (ex. drinks included in price, no drinks are not included in price, etc.) Less than a month before the wedding, they said they couldn't give us the room they promised, and wanted to put us in the dark bar area which faces the black tarred parking lot. If you do have it there - make sure you get everything in writing. I ended up finding a better place, highly recommended, and the people are professional and trustworthy. read more

my son took his mother and i for her birthday on 4/30/2014 to crandels . we come here quite often . i had the ribeye and they had the chicken, both orders were done to perfection .we had a beautiful waiterss by the name of PEARON . orders came very fast in my way of thinking . but we are country folks , that fast pace we left i long time ago ! for anybody complaining about not enough or to much chicken . i do not see where you are coming from ? all & all i give this restauant a high ( 5 ) the service and food EXCELLENT . read more

Ate there around 5p 4/28/18. Lot was perhaps 1/2 full. Have eaten there several times over the years. Good chicken and or fish, but not worth the effort to sit and wait 40 minutes for your meal, while watching others who came in after get there orders before you, as well as others getting their second helping of chicken before you get your first. Mind you same waitress in this section. Seems each visit, service declines. Clearly kitchen was not capable. Waitress removed my only fork while I still had a potato side to eat. Waitress only brought one hand wipe packet after my wife asked for some, even though I was dining, too, and was in need of a wipe. Yes she was very apologetic, but should have been waiting customers at DQ, not this place. Mentioned my experience and dissatisfaction to waitress, and she was going to summon the manager, but no manager ever came by. Again mentioned my dissatisfaction on way out to host and hostess, and only received an apology. No one asked what was the issue, no one suggested I speak with a manager. This place is far from what it used to be and no one should go out of their way to patronize it. It's just another chicken joint, folks. read more

I wish there was a no star option. Organized a large group of 13 to have dinner on a Tuesday. Called ahead and made a reservation so they knew we were coming. When we got there they sat us and for 15 minutes no one came over to greet us or even bring water. Finally someone came over to let us know they were short a waitress and gave water to the table. We should have left then. But we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately it got worse. They were out of three things we ordered and then we waited over an hour after placing our meal and smaller things were forgotten (sugar, butter, etc). As we watched a bar tender casually make drinks and another member of the staff engage in a 15 min conversation with a table of regulars our waters remained empty and we received no service. When we shared our concern the staff quickly responded with excuses vs. taking accountability and apologizing. We did our best to make the most out of an incredibly disappointing situation and when the bill arrived Crandalls did not do one thing to make the situation better. Throughout the entire night, they missed opportunities to treat us like customers. Most of the table has been in the service industry and there are small things Crandalls could have done to address the situation. #1 --inform big groups who have reservations immediately you are shortstaffed and set expectations that service maybe slow (or better yet, you had my phone number you could have updated us BEFORE we drove to your establishment. #2--have table on the water since you knew we were coming #3 --give us our own pitcher of water so we could refill our own drinks when the staff never came back to our table #4-when you're shortstaffed everyone should jump in to do what they can including bartenders and managers #5--be apologetic and compassionate instead of argumentative #6--take a percentage off the bill or offer the table a low cost item as a gesture of good will. The horrible experience ruined our moods and our evening. read more

With a summer home on Geneva Lake which is now our retirement home, we have eating at Crandalls for many years. It has always been for the outstanding broasted chicken. But once while we stopped there twice in a week, I decided to try something different. That's when I found the greatest bargain I have yet encountered! The chopped steak dinner with rolls, salad, etc, for $9.95 (at the time). This past summer we brought some friends from out of state to sample the chicken that we had been raving about for some time. I was disappointed when our friend's wife ordered the chicken pot pie! She is a very particular person and very knowledgeable about food having been involved in the restaurant business for some time. I nearly fell off my chair, when after she had consumed the very large serving, she declared that "it was the finest pot pie she had ever tasted!" So last night, after our usual broasted chicken, my wife ordered a pot pie to take home. Tonight it provided dinner for both of us with some left over for my lunch tomorrow! And for once I have to agree with my friend's comment, it was unbelievably delicious! PS. A note to a previous reviewer. I know they have a sign on the table about not taking chicken home but in all the years we have been going there, my wife who is a light eater, had taken a breast home. The servers even provide a carry-out container. As long as it is from the original serving, there never has been a problem. read more
