Visited about two weeks after it re-opened and it was a great experience. The inside is really well decorated and there is nothing else like it in the area. Attention from the waitstaff was excellent providing good recommendations. I had the crispy duck while my wife had the chicken parm (her staple). Duck was cooked to perfection and really tasty. Wife said the chicken parm was very good and there was enough to take home. Good cocktails, especially the espresso martini. Creme Brulee for desert could not have been any better - it was traditional so not flavored with anything, just the way we like it. I have been wanting to go to this restaurant for so long. Finally we went last night to celebrate our anniversary. We both had the rib eye. It was absolutely terrible! Burned on the outside, bloody red on the inside and it was swimming in blood! It was the toughest piece of meat I have ever had! It looked like steak soup swimming in blood! AND our bill was $250, we weren't going to leave a tip, but we couldn't do that to the waitress, so basically a $300 meal that was the worst! If you want a good steak go to Longhorn. read more

I had the most amazing time at the Crane Brook!! This is a must try place. The food and atmosphere is 5 star. It overlooks a beautiful pond and it almost feels like out of storybook. Truly magical!! We had the meatballs as an appetizer locally sourced from owners farm!!! They were melt in your mouth in locally harvested cranberry sauce. For my meal I had the scallops also local the were cooked to perfection and the sides also fresh and local was butternut squash perfectly cooked. The staff the decor the whole experience was amazing. The staff recommended an amazing port wine that paired with my meal perfectly. I can't wait to return. So disappointed: My wife and I were celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary and she has wanted to go here for such a long time. We were seated in the back section of the restaurant with no atmosphere; lights on full, no music, plastic flowers at a table by the entrance/exit to the kitchen. Service was okay, nothing special. Food came and could not have been more disappointing. No flavor, poor presentation, over/under cooked and overpriced for what you get. I ordered a Caesar salad and added anchovies, I think they dumped the whole can on top, charged me $6 bringing my tasteless salad to a grand total of $18. Then came the Portuguese mussels; defiantly not fresh and over cooked. My wife got the cod with day old mashed potatoes and flavorless squash. Fish was okay, but not fresh that day as advertised. I could go into more detail as I am a veteran of the restaurant business but I think you get the idea. Clearly there is not a chef in the kitchen; I have no issue with the prices as long as it is chef driven; this is not. Will not be returning and suggest other options when looking for a special night out. read more

The food was good, but the service was painful, I feel like if you are paying $23 and up for an entree the servers should be top notch. Our server did not know the specials, she brought the wrong drink, never had our water refilled, did not bring bottle of wine out till way late and when she did, she did not open properly. It was painful to have such horrible service, and every time she did show up at the table she had some explanation of why everything was off. I love this location and do hope that the owner reads this and gets some qualified wait staff. read more

Currently avoid this restaurant. They've just reopened and service is absolutely terrible. Took over an hour for the waitress to take our order, despite asking multiple people if we could order. Then we waited another 30 minutes for our appetizers, only to have our entree come out 2 minutes after. Food is decent, not as good as it was pre pandemic. They should've waited a few more weeks and trained their new staff, which seems to be like everyone who currently works here. Nice atmosphere and the service was good but the food was very disappointing. The French onion soup is like a very thick beef broth and was very salty. The broth was unlike any French onion soup I've ever had which was not good. The pan seared scallops were sadly very fishy and a bit rubbery and were served with asparagus that was completely limp and an olive green color. I've never seen asparagus that looked like this before - I couldn't eat it. The Parmesan risotto side was loaded with peas which was unfortunate because I don't like peas and it would've been nice if they had mentioned ahead of time that the dish contained peas. I will say that the crispy duck was tasty and a good sized portion. The prices were also a bit high for this area. Unfortunately this was a very bad experience for us and we will not be going back. read more

The Cranebrook restaurant is a hidden gem! It's located on a large lake in Carver just outside of Myles Standish state forest. There was plenty of parking that was well lit. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess that sat us promptly even though the dining room was filling up fast. Our waitress was very professional and knowledgeable of the menu. She told us that all the beef was Wagyu cattle from the owners own ranch! The steaks did not disappoint. We got a filet mignon and a huge Tomahalk steak that were cast iron cooked in a brown butter sauce. They were perfectly cooked both medium rare and served with asparagus and roast potatoes. The couple who dined with us got a pan roasted Chilean seabass with roast tomato risotto and a crispy skinned duck that had a sweet and spicy chili glaze. Everyone enjoyed their meals so much we had to get desert. We shared a creme brulee, a carrot cake and a chocolate layered cake. All to die for! We'll definitely be back, I can't wait to try some other items on the menu, but probably a steak! read more

Second trip to this beautiful renovated restaurant in South Carver. The setting can't be beat..on the beautiful Sampson Pond..complete with swans and wildlife. The interior is gorgeous..the back deck overlooking the pond is perfect for cocktails and fantastic food. Everyone in our party was impressed with the quality of food. Excellent all around. We went to celebrate Father's Day and have a delicious meal. Crane Brook was an excellent choice. My parents have been frequently as they live in Carver, however, this was the first time for my husband and I. They were sold out of the Tomahawk steaks, so my husband got the ribeye and I ordered the filet mignon. Both cooked perfectly-his med-rare and mine medium. Great flavor. I had the Crane Brook salad as an appetizer and it was delicious. My husband got chicken wings, which were cooked nice and crispy with buffalo sauce. My mom got the scallops and risotto and my dad got lobster raviolis. Great presentation and they loved them. Our server, Emily was personable and took careful notes as I require gluten free. Since the food is cooked to order, they can modify menu items as needed for dietary restrictions. Our food and drinks were excellent. It was busy when we arrived at 7 pm, but soon we were only a couple other tables. Atmosphere was wonderful. We sat inside, but there is an outside covered porch area along the waterfront. We had a water view with swans. Old Hollywood & rustic decor. Prices were competitive for the quality. Foodies would say it was a great value. Fast food & diner folks may not appreciate this quality farm to table fare and find its outside their budget. Overall great experience and we will be back! read more

Boston prices, without the service. Waitress, did not know what types of gin(s) where avaliable, what type of beers etc. We asked her if she's was new she was not. Probably my new favorite restaurant . The atmosphere is cozy, warm and inviting while maintaining a finer dinning feel without overdoing it . The food is amazing and all locally sourced including the beef and chicken . I had the surf and turf. Beef was fresh and tender and the scallops were sweet and meaty. Prices are reasonable for what you get . The owner approached us on our way out as we were poking around outside admiring the building and the grounds . The owner seems very passionate and proud of his restaurant and it shows. We will definitely be back . read more

We just left the Cranbrook restaurant. This was our first visit to this establishment and we were very pleased. We found the establishment to be very clean and very interesting and comfortable atmosphere. The food was very very good and we both felt that our whole experience was fantastic. Got to say when I heard the Crane Brook had reopened I was pretty excited to go back, little did I know I was in for a disappointment. My fiance and I decided to take my parents out for birthday dinner, their birthdays are within a month of each other. Crane Brook was suggested so I checked out the menu online and found that it looked pretty good. We set a reservation for 6:30 and when we arrived at the friendly host gave us our choice of tables. We started with the cranberry meatballs which were surprisingly good and that is really where the good ended. My father ordered the steak au poivre cooked medium rare with the rainbow carrots and whipped potatoes. When it was brought out the dish was missing the carrots, which the waitress apologized for and asked if my father still wanted the carrots. She took his plate into the kitchen and it came back with the carrots. When he cut into the steak he noticed that it was cooked well done and not medium rare. He sent it back and was brought back a new meal. After cutting into his steak the only comparison he had for it was that it was like chewing on a thick piece of leather. My mother ordered the chicken statler which was supposed to come with whipped potatoes and grilled tomatoes. She asked for roasted potatoes and a side of asparagus. When the dish arrived it was missing the tomatoes and there were only four asparagus on the plate, a fifth asparagus was later discovered in my father's whipped potatoes. I ordered the short rib which was supposed to come with sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and swiss chard. The sweet potatoes were no where to be seen and there was about two handfuls of swiss chard on the plate. My fiance's steak Diane was supposed to be beef tenderloins, but it was anything but tenderloins. The waitress and the manager both apologized multiple times and told us the next round of drinks and dessert would be on the house. Looking into the bar area I could see the waitress, manager, and then eventually someone from the kitchen arguing in front of customers, I have been in management for over 10 years and one of the first things you are taught is to take manager employee discussions and arguments away from the view of customers. The manager kept apologizing while we were trying to eat and the waitress seemed like was very confused. For dessert my father and mother split the marscapone which they said was very good, my fiance got the creme brulee which was small and mediocre at best, I ordered the lime gelato and when it was brought to me was actually the mocha flavor. The waitress took it back and when she bought me the new gelato she asked me to taste it because she was unsure that it was the lime flavor and thought it looked lemon even though the person in the kitchen told her it was lime.....it was lemon. When we got the bill the second round of drinks were taken off and there was no charge for the dessert, but we were still paying $200 for a meal and service that was not ever worth $20. My mother sent an email to them yesterday citing the same story and the response was "we're working on it". Needless to say our experience at the new Crane Brook was less than desirable. Even though the second round of drinks and dessert were on the house, at least my father's meal which had to be sent back twice should have been comped as well. I don't know who the new management is, but they need a lot more "work" in this restaurant if they want to stay in business. read more

'Went to the Crane Brook Tea House for the 1st time since it re-opened. We were regulars before it closed years ago. Much to our surprise, it has been remodeled beautifully with a whole new look with gorgeous furnishings! Congratulations to the new owners. They have put their hearts and sole into reviving this place and it truly shows their efforts. We ordered the 2 for $55 which included a bottle of delicious wine. Christine was our server. She was wonderful and makes an awesome expresso martini! She was pleasant and very helpful . Food was excellent. There are a number of specials on the 2 for $55 menu and runs on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Not only is this restaurant a perfect place for dinner, but also would be excellent for a bridal shower, rehearsal dinner or any special occasion. Deck and courtyard out back overlook a beautiful pond with lots of wildlife. Can't wait to return. read more

My family of four decided to try this restaurant despite some bad reviews. We made a reservation for 6 PM on a Thursday evening. My husband and I ordered a strawberry and blueberry Mojito, they were very bitter, I think they forgot to add the simple syrup or simply did not add enough. Our food took about an hour and 45 minutes to arrive and our waitress just kept coming up with lots of excuses as to why it was taking so long. The food was average tasting in my opinion. I've read some reviews where you had to pay for the bread, we were not offered bread and no crackers with our soup... I understand that places are short staffed due to Covid however I think if you have to wait almost 2 hours for your meal the restaurant should do something to make you feel better about it maybe offer you a free drink or a free dessert, but that was never offered. I definitely will not be going back, there are way too many other options out there. read more

We went for dinner on Saturday the 3rd. Made a point of booking a reservation on line for 6PM. Was not necessary for us. We had a lovely experience from beginning(Gianna) to end at the Bar with a nightcap with Christine. Had dinner on the outside deck. Lovely night. Swans, Ducks, lovely Sampson Pond. Drinks.... nice wine selection..., great extra dry martini, straight up, three olives. Dinner was wonderful.....Swordfish and Rib Eye. Highly recommended. Will be back next week. Unless you take advantage of the weekday special, I would agree that pricing vs area could prove difficult to sustain. At the same time it is an upscale restaurant - so chances are no small children will be screaming during your dinner . That is a huge plus! Went Tuesday evening for the $55 special, dinner for 2 an a bottle of wine. We sat at the bar waiting for our friends. The bartender Christina is great. Very personable and attentive to your needs. When our friends arrived we stayed at the var a little longer. We were seared by the window in Yhe dining room like we had asked for. All of us enjoyed our meals. My husband and I both had the fish. Cranebrook is attempting to fill a niche in the area that needs attention. There is a lack of fine dining restaurants in this area and Cranebrook is attempting to step up and fill that void. With any new establishment there will be growing pains, but my experience there was pretty darn good. We went on a Saturday night and although the parking lot was full, as we walked in the host offered us any available table which was a nice touch. Second we were met promptly by our server Jennifer whose smile and enthusiasm were worth the trip alone. The service was outstanding, the cocktails delicious, and our meals were fantastic. I had the Rib Eye, which was mouth watering along with fingerling potatoes and green beans. My better half had the Swordfish which she completely devoured and yet still found room to enjoy her Creme brulee for dessert. My only complaints were that the Molten Lava cake was so freaking hot I almost burnt my mouth and the difficulty parking, as we ended up parking across the street. read more

Thought this would be a great place to go for Thanksgiving dinner. Ordered a bottle of wine, brought us the wrong one. Not to mention, it took 3 people to open it!! When we finally got the wine we ordered, it was great. Service was quite slow throughout the evening. Finally ordered a starter, a bowl of clam chowder, pretty simple. If it's on the shortened Holiday menu, it should be hot, on the line and ready to go. Wrong. Waited about 12 minutes for a lukewarm cup of ultra thick chowder. I'm guessing it was heated in the microwave. While we were waiting for the soup, we both ordered the 12oz prime rib on the bone, medium. Neither of us got a bone, mine was so well done it was inedible. It came with mushy cranberry stuffing, whipped potato and bland Brussels sprouts. Absolutely awful. To top it off, we watched a waitress serve a dessert after her hair went through it!! One of the cooks in the kitchen had long hair and a beard with no coverings at all. So you also had to be on "hair" watch. We did get money taken off of our bill for the mediocre (word actually on our receipt), but nothing else. This "chef" is constantly posting his pic and pictures of his food, but can't apologize to a paying customer, on a holiday, who got crap for food and service. I was disappointed because I was so excited to see this wonderful restaurant re-open after many years standing empty. We were having a double birthday celebration for my daughter and a friend and we were happily remembering our last visit there about 15 years ago. It didn't really pan out, though. The ambiance was a little weird and the floor varnished to the point of blinding you but we sat out on the patio overlooking the water, which was just lovely - if you tried not to look at the odd and incongruous statuary collection off on the lawn area. There was a wonderful family of swans that provided us pleasure throughout our stay there. The bread came out - and I always unfairly judge things to come by the bread - it was just bread, nothing special. The butter was a strange cranberry butter mix that did not spread well - it just kind of crumbled and was not very tasty. I had the shrimp scampi, which was fine but no better than anyplace else. My friend had one of the specials, a Portuguese steak dish that sounded odd (included mashed potatoes on rice as a side) but interesting. She ordered the steak rare and was told that might not be possible but it would at least be medium-rare. It turned out to be very well done and leathery. She left most of it and dined mostly on potatoes and rice. We could have stayed home and raided the refrigerator and come up with that. The staff was very friendly and attentive, could not have been nicer. And we were treated to a Great Blue Heron sweeping in and landing near us at the end of our meal. That was a treat. just this past weekend after me and my wife was away on the north shore and stayed Hilton and also had dinner there on Friday night , we came back home and said to my wife Saturday lets try the crane brook restaurant that just opened back up so I called made reservation for 8:30pm and so we went, when we arrived greeting was joyful . we were seated and so it begun about 20 minutes before someone comes by to wait on us we ordered 2 drinks and my wife ordered lobster Bisque I ordered the clam chowder my chowder was great!! my wife was served very cold bisque strike 1 on this place 2nd food came out again my meal was great and wife was served undercooked lobster that can get you very sick this was not good at all lets clarify then she sent it back for salad that was fair at best she was very unsatisfied now waitress says she will talk the almost $40.00 lobster off the bill, lets back up bit after the bisque was cold the new owner came over to apologize for this. when food was under cooked no apology was given this is not how you get or treat new customers very disappointed. lets be clear if the have good chef this is not a training issue its lack of customer service and should not be in this field of business. We recently visited the Crane Brook Restaurant on the occasion of my husband's 84th birthday. There were six of us. Two couples in our party are local (Plymouth and Wareham), and we were joined by a daughter and granddaughter visiting from California. None has been to the restaurant before, but we have frequented many local eateries over the past ten years. We were absolutely delighted with the ambience; the location and view from the dining room, the well-appointed tables and fresh flowers, and, yes, even the antique highly-polished floorboards. All the service people were attentive. friendly and professional. We ordered scrod and beef and were impressed by the size of the portions and the accompanying fresh veggies. The owner wandered by during dessert and chatted warmly with us. We were very impressed and hope the place does well as we plan to return often. Especially looking forward to fall lunches on the patio so we can watch the wildlife up close. read more
