We had dinner last night, and the experience was not good. The waitress was boderline rude, and I had to explain to her that the salad bar came with the cod that I ordered (said so right on the menu) she tried to argue until she finally looked at the menu and read it. Another diner ordered Pork chops which came with salad bar- (one trip, which I find odd) and the other also got cod. We had our salad, which was very good and had a nice selection. After about ten minutes the waitress came out and said they had forgotten to turn the roaster on for pork chops and it would be another twenty minutes. Mistakes happen! We said hey thats ok we dont mind waiting. So after probably another 30 minutes they finally come out, the fish and fries look good but we were told the veggie of the day was brocolli, and it ended up being brussel sprouts and we were never informed. We dont care for brussel sprouts, but we didn't comment on it. However the diner who got the pork chops, kindly adn patiently waited, went to cut into her porkchop and it was rock solid. It was a very thin , poor cut and they way over cooked it. The waitress did not come back to ask us how our food was for probably fifteen minutes, the diner told her she couldnt' eat the pork chops and she did not want to wait for another meal so she would just take another trip to the salad bar. she never got an apology or anything. and then when we get our bills the waitress tells us that she took the pork chop off the bill, which we expected. But as we look at the bill, she was still charged the 7.99 for the salad bar, which was supposed to be included with her meal, and then the measly salad she grabbed even though he dinner was messed up and she waited a very long time. she has diet restrictions and can only eat certain things. The fish and chips were very good, and I've ordered out from here before and the food has always been good. I think its the service that needs some work, and the Pork was probably just a fluke thing but they did not handle it correctly. I wont be going back for awhile. read more

We don't come here often but I thought we'd give it one more chance. That was it. Hubby wanted ribs, ordered full slab. Ribs he got were over done, didn't seem to have been freshly prepared and were slathered in sauce which tends to be the method of covering up deficiencies. I ordered the chicken Alfredo pizza with extra garlic. We got deep fried mushrooms as an app. Mushrooms came out, second one in was ice cold in the center. Waitress came back and said they couldn't do my pizza because they were out of Alfredo. Guess she meant they were out of GFS Alfredo because what restaurant doesn't have butter, flour and milk/cream? Guess they don't know that recipe. I changed my pizza order to the Goat Cheese / Portabella one because it's my favorite and asked for roasted garlic on it. She comes back again in a bit and said they are out of garlic. I said that was fine (not really, I LOVE roasted garlic on any pizza) and we move on. Ribs and pizza come out, ribs for hub are as previously stated. We have judged rib competitions so our standards are pretty high. My pizza comes out and it is missing the Italian sausage that it is supposed to have. I am thoroughly bummed at this point because it seems like the last 3-4 visits here have all been disappointments- somethings not available, or something is overlooked. And with the prices charged, they should be more on top of their game. We paid $55 plus tip for two beers, an app, my small pizza, and hub's ribs. We could have had a far better experience for that price at many places in GR or Cadillac. Wish this wasn't basically the only brewpub in our town...why do other towns get all the good stuff?! read more

Service was solid! The atmosphere is unique and we'll worth a second visit. They have a great menu and some interesting home brews. Their menu is good but they lack execution. ... for example the parmesan fries should be amazing --- they sounded great but lacked flavor. I asked for mine to be well done and they were not and came unsalted. My husband requested his steak fries with cajun seasoning fresh out of the fryer & they wouldn't do it. The pulled pork sandwich on a pretzel bun was yummy but needed another tip of sauce. My Chipotle chicken sandwich had great flavor (had them put it on a wrap instead)! Restrooms in the coney were a mess. All in all the place has great potential! We'll go back again... perhaps this was an off day being the day after their big Valentine's dinner. read more

Cranker's used to be my favorite place to eat in Big Rapids. Today, we went in for brunch and were treated poorly from the moment we sat down. Our waitress (whom couldn't even be bothered to wear a name tag like the rest of the waitresses) was rude from the get go. Almost made us feel like we were an inconvenience to her. We waited for our meal (simple foods) for almost 45 minutes and were out of drinks and coffee and never refilled until we finally received our food, which was thrown down in front of us. Honestly, I could deal with the wait for our food if we weren't treated so poorly. It'll be awhile before we come back. What a shame. read more

I tried the sampler. The only brew that stood out was the coconut porter, it had a good taste. The IPA had a weak finish. The Irish Red resembled an "over the counter" brand, not craft. Nice atmosphere. We had a nice waitress who knew her brews, hops, malts and yeast's etc. The food was bland and left me hungry. The burger comes from a frozen beef patty and is dressed up with a cool bun, but I'd rather have a fresh ground beef never frozen on a regular bun, a hamburger, as its name suggests, is about the meat, not he fancy potato bun. The burrito was small and had a bad tasting sauce resembling blood. The menus were confusing. Different menus for different times. The place was a bit empty for a Friday evening. We thought a small town would be more energetic to support a brewery, but like I said the brew was just OK and the food is bland. Stick to Grand Rapids for great craft beer and awesome food. read more

Went there about 2 months ago, late afternoon and kind of busy but not packed. Waitress finally approached us after 20 minutes-too late, we were on our way out. Went there last Saturday night,a live band was playing but way too loud. The first thing the hostess said was we had to leave by 11:15 for a "private function". Solid range of beers making this place worth a trip. Odd name, in the same building shared by a Coney Island. Low-key, large space, that was pretty quiet in the middle of the afternoon on a weekend. Wait staff was knowledgeable and friendly and the beers were very good. I would imagine some nights this place might get very busy. read more

Do not buy the brewery's Professor's IPA. This is the second-worst beer I've ever tasted (after Black Dragon Madera's Dragon Drool), and IPAs are my favorite style of beer; I've never had an IPA that I didn't want to finish. But the bottle purchased at a Traverse City-area restaurant on 8/23/16 tasted as if it came from a bad batch. (That, or the brewery came up with a taste which mimics that of a bad batch.) read more

What to say? Walked in and had one waitress say they would be right with us. Then several people walked in and sat themselves. The next waitress said to have a seat anywhere. We sat down and waited and waited. Finally out drink order was taken and we said we were ready to order but waitress said another table in front of us. 20 minutes at this point. She finally came back and took order. Still no drinks. 15 minutes later she came back and said they were out of prime rib which my wife and I both ordered. Asked if we needed menu. We said yes. Brought them to us. We reordered and assumed our kids food was cooking. Wrong. After over 1.5 hours we got our food but our son's calzone not even in oven yet. The kids food of soup, baked potato and calzone were good and only reason for 2 stars. My wife and I had ribs and ribeye. Both very blah. Waitress very apologetic and she was working hard. Never saw a manager or offered any consolidation. We spent 70$ for 4 with tip, which really wasn't earned, there almost 2.5 hours and no alcohol. We will not be back. read more

Absolutely one of the worse places we have ever been to. First, the place was rather slow when we were seated. We ordered an appetizer which was served 20 minutes later and took an additional 15 minutes to get silverware. We ordered steaks - the steaks were so burnt they were not edible, the veggies were cold and raw, and the entire meal took us over 2 hours. The waitress apologized to us and said she had a bad day. She provided us with a 10.00 gift card for next time. The meal was over 50.00 and we tipped the waitress for honesty. We shared our disappointment with the owner regarding the way the steak was cooked. He was rude, blamed the waitress for being inefficient, and did not once apologize. We gave him his 10.00 gift card and told him we would not return. He said "good" - so for sure we will never be back to Crankers in the future. read more

We walked in at 12ish and was told to sit anywhere. We were greeted by our server promptly and then received our drinks. The Coke she mentioned when we sat down tasted very odd, almost as if the syrup was expired? or maybe the mix was just wrong, but it was not good. She then took our orders which took a while to get, despite not being busy. When we received our food it was only slightly warm, but pretty good. We also noticed that the dining room and windows were pretty dirty and they had only been open an hour. The floor was very dirty and the room was extremely cold. The menus were dirty and apparently a little outdated as they featured items crossed off and the server offered items that were not on the menu. There was a very weird smell when you first walk in and it kind of seeped into the restaurant. Overall it was just kind of okay. While the food wasn't bad, it wasn't the best and I am not sure that we would really want to return. read more
