Visited on 6/11/18 for breakfast. Walked in the door at 9:37 and got our food 41 minutes later! We ordered 1 breakfast special and a ham & cheese omelette. The pancakes were crusted on the bottom which mean they sat for a long period of time. We were about to give up and leave when the food arrived, wished er stuck with the plan. Had to ask for jam and ketchup. Food was just ok. The place was not busy! Only one cook? Doesn't make sense. Zero Stars....I've never been so unsatisfied by a restaurant in my life. Arrived and was told to sit wherever and found the only clean table available. No one greeted us for at least 10 minutes. Honestly, we should have walked out then. Once our server came over, we ordered drinks and were given menus. After we were given a lot of time to look, we were able to order... But only to be told that they were out of this and that. Fast forward to AN HOUR LATER and not only do we not have food, but we haven't seen our waitress, nor have we had any drink refills. The restaurant had maybe only 15 tables open because of COVID and most of them were empty. A member of our table went and looked for our waitress to figure out what was going on. Twenty minutes later the waitress came back with food. And get this...IT WAS STONE COLD!! The waitress didn't even seem to care and the manager neglected to come to our table even after asking for them twice. We walked out with no food, unsatisfied, and almost two hours wasted. I'm still shocked at the experience. Terrible service, inedible food, a night of disappointment. Will not be returning. read more

We have been here many times before and everything is usually at least decent. Tonight I ordered the ribeye and it was not a ribeye cut and tasted bland eventhough they tried to cover it in sauce and onions. My brother in law never got his meal and at least two other orders were not right. The beers were good but three different porter/stouts tasted very much the same. Just want good this time. Came from Muskegon despite some average reviews. We were seated right away, had our order in right away, but waited a bit more than a usual amount of time, despite it not being busy. However, the food was outstanding, from the burger to the brisket, to the ribs, to the fish! Sides were plentiful and very good. Will definitely visit again. read more

We love to visit breweries...Food was blah. "Brisket" didn't look like any bbq I've ever had before and came out cut up smothered in sauce. Good service from waitress and beers give them a better rating. If I was rating it on the brisket it would be a zero. read more

The food is good. The staff is often high and is often seen smoking marijuana on premisis. I have seen drug dealing happen as I walk in between cooks and servers. Food was alright. Feel like its ran like a mob. read more

this micro brewery is actually really good. They do run out of things however almost everything is made in kitchen! That "horrible smell" people are posting about is the smell the hops give off when they're getting brewed. Beers rotate often to ensure everyone finds something they like. usually 15+ brews on tap and lines get cleaned every week. The wait can be long being that there are 300+ seats in the restaurant and one kitchen! As for the staff everyone is very friendly and tries to make consumers feel welcomed. Food pricing is generous to say the least, Servings are large and typically more then enough. Great atmosphere! Had dinner on a Sunday evening. We both ordered broasted chicken. The menu had conflicting language on whether or not we would also get a salad. No salad. It took at least a half hour to get our food. The server stopped back once during the wait on the food. No explanation on why the food took so long or warning on cooking time of the chicken. The chicken was good, the broasted potato sides were slightly undercooked. When we received our bill, the meals were each $1 higher than the menu price with explanation it was due to COVID. Terrible service, lack of a salad, long cooking time, price changes without notice, 60 Minutes on the TVs made for lousy atmosphere, and the undercooked potatoes, made for a negative memorable evening out. I blame it on COVID. Prior to COVID never had bad food or a poor experience at Crankers. If I go back it will be for breakfast only. read more

Service and quality have really gone downhill. I used to go on a regular basis, but more than once the staff have acted drunk or on something. Jess is the exception; she's awesome. Stopped for lunch which was great and saw the ad for their Octobeer Festival on Saturday Night. We drove back and had the Buffet and several of their Beers brewed on-site. The Buffet was really good, worth every penny and there was several beer choices. I especially liked the Bulldog Red which is similar to Killians but maybe a little better. Lots of people, good service, well worth attending. I will stop again on my way up north. read more

Staff are friendly and I really like the inside. Separated into dining and bar side. Seat yourself. Outside seating is a little awkward as it's right on the main road. Eh. Menu is wide and varied. I went with a calzone which came to the table burnt. Waitress asked if I thought it was too brown - why would I hold up the whole table who already received their food in order to get another one made? When I asked for some pizza sauce on the side to help it go down the waitress brought me a cup of cold pizza sauce. Why would I want cold sauce? Other people were pleased with their order - was a little weird that the pulled pork dish didn't come with a roll or bread, but it was still good. Worst meal and customer service I've ever experienced. Ordered a turkey ruben that I wasn't edible! One bite and it was more like pressed turkey, with something rubbery in it. I returned it and didn't order anything else as the rest of my group was done eating. Still got charged for the sandwich as the owner explained it's their policy to charge you for food that wasn't edible! He informed us that I could have ordered something else.... why would I eat anything from the restaurant after I was completely disgusted by the original plate. Instead of immediately correcting the situation he argued with me that the food was very good, well I'm the customer and I couldn't eat it! He did offer to give me a $5 gift card to help pay for the $12.99 sandwich that was returned, again pay for something I didn't eat or have to take home! Did I mention it took the waitress running back and forth between him and I three times before he left the bar (watching golf) to finally come to the table to discuss the situation. It was finally resolved when I told him I would not be paying for it and if it was an issue we could call the police right now! The other 2 people in my group didn't finish their food either because of quality/taste but did eat more than 1/2 of their meals so it was fair they paid. I had a very disappointing experience when I visited Crankers. I went in to get a growler for my son for his birthday because he collects them, and Big Rapids is where he was born. He lives in southern California and I knew that it would be a wonderful gift. I was hungry so I thought I would get a bite to eat before purchasing the growler. I sat down at the restaurant and ordered a burger. I waited over 45 minutes before it came. I went to get the growler and lo and behold there was not one that had the city of Big Rapids printed on it. Tons of Mount Pleasant and Grand Rapids growlers but none for Big Rapids. You would think that since this Crankers was in Big Rapids that they would keep a few in stock. Double whammy! Needless to say, I don't think I will be going back there soon. read more

Lemonade wasn't great, chips and queso was eh, the chips were stale and the queso was sorta gross. We were recommended Crankers by family in the area. We are from Grand Rapids and have had their beer but never visited the brewery. To enter the brewery, you have to walk through a 24 hr type cafe ... so that was odd. The bar area is large and has a cool atmosphere but there was almost no one there! The bar tender spent most of his time chatting with the one other patron at the bar who was on his laptop. The kitchen ended up being closed which was frustrating as the website stated different hours. The website is confusing and has hours for the attached food joint, crankers kitchen AND different hours for the pizza. Which differed from the hours on the menu. Giving Crankers 3 stars for strange in house experience and service. Will continue to support their brews from a distance . read more

Decent brew, good food. The bartender made a good effort to know her hops, yeast and malt. Always a good sign of a decent taproom. They didn't take AHA members as discount. I had the brisket based on the waitress' recommendation as the house specialty. While it wasn't awful it wasn't particularly good either. the meat wasn't very flavorful. I tasted more like a pot roast than a quality brisket. And the whole order was slathered with a sauce that tasted like a mix of A1 and Heinz 57. The brewery portion was closed too, which was disappointing since I wanted to try a local craft brew, and picks this restraunt because the said it was a brewery. Twice i've been screwed on pricing. The first time my mother and i ordered burrito's and ended up with an extra 3.00 charge with no explanation. We didn't see it until the next day because of being distracted by friends. When emailing them the said they would check into it but never got back with me that was in the fall of 2015. Now today i went with other friends and again they tried to slide in a charge that was supposed to be free. Today the food was just ok, not much flavor and some was kinda cold. The woman i was with today had mac n cheese as a side and she said it was literally the worst mac n cheese she ever had, her daughter wouldn't eat it either. So as of today thats two families that won't go back. Not sure if they are putting all their efforts into the brewery and not the restaurant or not but its not a good place to go anymore. read more

We have been waiting for our food for about an hour and 20 minutes. Our waitress has been kind but the manager has been avoiding our table. The manager has no idea how to handle the situation and apologize for the wait but continue to walk by our table and ignore the fact that there is a problem. I went with my boyfriend to Cankers for a date night during the week. The parking lot of the restaurant didn't really have any lines that you could see well to park they were so faded. We were greeted at the door by the hostess saying we could sit anywhere we liked, we sat and were greeted promptly by our waitress with menus being handed to us. It took a long time to have our drinks re filled and we weren't checked on to see if everything was made well and was tasting good. Our waitress seemed bored and in a hurry even though there were only two other tables in the restaurant. However, we were happy with the food that came out hot and tasted wonderful! The restaurant itself was clean and orderly, however the bathroom smelled like cigarettes. Overall I would go back but it wouldn't be one of my top choices to go. read more

First time there this weekend and I will admit that the beers where good, however the experience overall was horrible. Ordered a $20 "Artisan" Meat Lovers pizza that came out looking like a burnt DiGiorno pizza which had hardly any meat on it. Asked if we would like another one and declined based on what the first one looked like, The server than stated they talked to the manager and offered a 10% discount (which we received) on the meal but never saw the manager. To top it off what appeared to be a patron at first when we arrived was eating dinner and drinking at the bar for at least a hour, then got up prior to us leaving and went behind the bar and poured himself a beer and proceeded to drink it behind the bar while cleaning glasses. Hit or miss. The food is "meh" on a good day and I only recommend breakfast. Heard the pizza was amazing so called a few weeks ago to order and apparently something in the kitchen was broken and the girl in the phone told me the kitchen was shut down and that they wouldn't be making food until the following day. Which was odd because the following day was a Sunday. Most of the morning staff are friendly and outgoing so the service is usually decent. One of the morning servers is a straight up b**** and the server's on the other shifts act like they hate their jobs. Overall if ur going for anything other than breakfast, good luck. read more
