My domestication has begun. We stopped Crate & Barrel to register for wedding gifts. When we entered the store we were greeted by an employee who happened to be manning the registry desk. We told her the purpose of our visit and she got us up and running with a scanner in a few minutes. She let us be for the rest of the hour or so we were there. She also told us to remember to come back at the end of our scanning and she would have a small gift for us. The interior of the store is laid out well, though certain items seem randomly spread out in the store. Cups may be found in one section of the store and then more are also found on the other end of the store. Just a small thing, really nothing compared to the plastic and aluminum jungle that is Bed Bath & Beyond. Items are well spaced, everything is organized, and prices are clearly marked. Customer service was great. If we presented someone with a question she (all the employees were women) didn't know, first off - she was honest enough to admit it, and second - she would be helpful enough to find someone more knowledgeable. Some workers stopped us and asked if we were ok, but nothing seemed overbearing in any way. When we returned from all our scanning, the woman at the registry desk helped us get the information onto their computers. I'm assuming the store gives small gifts to everyone that registers here, we were presented with a heart-shaped glass dish. Very nice touch. The fiancee (thanks for the spelling tip Ina!) and I were very happy with our experience. Store was very professional. Employees seemed genuinely helpful. read more

*This review is based on customer service only. In general, I love this store. A few weeks ago my mom and I were shopping here. My husband and I recently bought a home and she and I were looking for furniture. Things were going well until a sales person basically told me what I was looking for was cheap, then told me she'd help me but goes and leaves me to help another customer without telling me. Maybe it was because I was younger, or in sweats, or because the item I was interested in was not expensive enough for her taste. Regardless, I spoke to the manager and my mom and I left and will not be back. Unlike this C&B, the store in Arlington is great and that's where I'll be shopping from now on. I ordered a small appliance online to be picked up in the store. They tell you not to come to the store until they text you that your order is ready for pick up. I waited all day on the scheduled pickup day for them to text me and I did not hear from them. I called the store half a dozen times and the phone just rang and rang and rang until it was disconnected. No one ever answered the phone. So I drove to the store and they got the item for me and when I checked it they had taken the small appliance and wrapped it in tissue paper. I told them that the appliance was supposed to come in a box and that should have a users manual and they told me that the users manual was available online. I asked him if it was a floor model and they said they didn't sell floor models. I asked them why they didn't have the box that it came in and they said they didn't know. When I looked at the appliance it was missing parts. I can't believe they tried to sell this thing to me - something that was obviously used and missing parts. It's a good thing I checked the bag before I left the store. read more

Awesome and huge stand alone Crate and Barrel. It carries all the stuff from the regular stores, but with things that I normally only see in the catalogue but not in the average mall stores. My only caveat is that if you see something that you like - hurry and buy it then! There were some curtains that we saw at this store (but wasn't available at any other store nor online) and we wanted to think it over before purchasing. When we came back two weeks later, they were gone. Sad. But the staff at this store, while busy and rushed, has been very helpful and nice. read more

I love Crate and Barrel. No, seriously. Come over to my house and see the thousands and thousands of dollars the Mister and I have spent on C+B products - from bookshelves to hutches to glassware to our dishes. So why no love for this place? Terrible service. We registered for our wedding at this location and it was a clusterf*ck. No one knew anything. The registry guns didn't work properly. Registering for sets vs singles was nearly impossible. We gave up after about forty five minutes and finished registering online. We've come back a few times since and the service has continued to disappoint. I went there today to replace some broken wine glasses the 888 number had promised me the store had in stock. No dice and no help. The clerk actually refused to help me order them online once I was in the store. WTF? In the last year, we've probably been to this location a dozen time for various reasons. Exactly once have we experienced good service. If you want to see a C+B item in person before you order it, this location will get the job done. If you want anything more... go to Clarendon or call the 888 number. Despite this location being 2mn from my office, I will do my darndest not to return. read more

Wow - this place was great! I mean, it felt like the first day I walked into a graduate school class out of undergrad. That feeling you get when your previous acquisitions were from Ikea and now you're moving to the big leagues. This, is Crate and Barrel *with the ESPN theme in the background*. Everything was painstakingly organized and set up. I mean, seriously, I would not take kids here. If they knock crap over, granted some items are cheap ($2 for a water glass), they're going to still cause a couple of hundred dollars worth of damage. The amazing part though was that you did periodically hear the clattering of a dish or glass hitting the floor - only you didn't hear breakage. The staff was amazingly non-chalant about it - they didn't rush over to see what the ruckus was or approach waving receipts of the "you break it you bought it" variety. I did like the fact that they pack the hell out of your purchase so when it tumbles around in the trunk, it will still show up in one piece. My only complaint is that you have to use baskets so if you're looking to buy dishes, beware. The basket will get heavy. Carts would be nice. Otherwise, I think I found a place that I'll be using to furnish the house. Now if I can just control my wife's spending in there.... read more

Update time! Last time I posted, this store was on its third attempted delivery of one table. Now, after two full days I have spent doing nothing but waiting for this one table to arrive, they have failed on a FOURTH delivery. This is a clown car hell show of a store and I advise you to literally go to Walmart if you want a better delivery experience and better customer service. I love love love Crate and Barrel! The items you can find in this store range from useful and necessary for any kitchen to the fanciful in glassware, dinnerware and decor. Personally I make this a trek during the Christmas holidays. The interesting and imaginative tree ornaments and slightly off-center room decorations all fill me with glee! This year, the economy being what it is, I found myself browsing and since I was sticking to a budget....I didn't pick up the fun items I was longing to fill my basket with during my pre-holiday shopping. All that being said - thank heaven for after holiday clearance sales!! Yes, I was the one languishing over the stainless steel mini-flutes, margaritas, pitchers and other "drinking" related tree ornaments. I was the mad woman foraging through the plexiglass bins (quite noisily I might add) to make sure I found a set for me and my sister and a fraction of the original cost. Success!! I do shop for many fun kitchen items as well especially for my husband who loves those "gotta have kitchen toys." This store is eye candy as well...the colors and patterns that can start a decorating frenzy is almost as stimulating as a bar of 85% cocoa and a double espresso. read more

You can get some decent deals if you wait for sales, and as a bonus there is always parking...and perhaps the opportunity for happy hour deals at Cafe Deluxe right next to it. Therein ends the positive. Customer service? Don't hold your breath. Order something at the store instead of online? Shame on you (me) for thinking they could manage that. Awful customer service. Stopped coming here when they moved out of the Mall. Now I remember why. Hubby and I were looking for a certain set of glassware. We did research online and found it there. We bought 4 glasses which were luckily in stock. However, when we got home, one of the glasses had a chip out of the rim. That sent me back a few days later for an even exchange. For the 30 minutes it took me to DRIVE back to the store, it took another 30 minutes to finally get waited on. No one to be found at the glassware checkout area so I stood there waiting. A female employee came over to fool with one of the cash registers, did not make eye contact with me at all and left. She is the only employee I'd seen in the store. I was standing there, clearly with an exchange since I already had a shopping bag (with the chipped glass in it) and a replacement glass in my hand. Eventually, I wandered over to the cookware section where that same female employee was ringing up a male customer. There was a second female employee who was helping a female customer with a personalized item. The first female employee finished up with the male customer and then without looking at me said, "Next person in line." Well I was the only person standing there. I went over and put the shopping bag on the counter, said this would be a simple even exchange due to a purchased chipped glass, and set the replacement glass on the counter. The female employee stared at me for what seemed like an eternity. Eventually, not knowing what else to do, I opened up the shopping bag and took out the chipped glass, unwrapped it, and handed it to her. She took the glass and said, "Oh yeah, I see that," and put the chipped glass on the counter. Then she stared at me again. OK, then. I got the receipt out of the shopping bag and handed it to her. She printed out an exchange receipt and put that and the original receipt down next to the two glasses on the counter. I guess I was silly to think she would wrap up the replacement glass and perhaps put it into the shopping bag. Nope, I had to do that myself. OK, then. I carefully rolled up the replacement glass in the previously used packing paper, put it in the bag, put my receipt in the bag. While I was doing all that but not yet finished, the female employee said, "Next person in line." The female customer behind me said, "That's me, but I'll wait until this lady is done wrapping up her item first." Wow. Talk about horrible service. Also, I would like to point out that a nice lady in the furniture department talked to me at length about some dining room tables on the first visit. Her business card had a different name than her actual name. Someone else already working there has the same name as her actual name so she had someone else's name on her card...really...that's low class Crate and Barrel. But she's the ONLY reason I would head back to that store. Very sad considering my husband and I have a LOT of Crate and Barrel items from 20 years ago when we first got married. It was the "go to" popular trendy store for everything at that time. But not anymore. Ouch. The store gets TWO stars for the lady in furniture who was very nice and for the cool items but loses THREE stars for the rude employee who could have told me when she FIRST saw me that there was no one at the glassware register and to please go over to the cookware register for assistance instead of my standing there waiting and waiting. I guess the company might not treat the employees well...but that's not my problem as a customer now is it? read more

I love Crate & Barrel. I come here for fun. Sick, I know. Park, walk in- you are transported to a wonderful world you can use to furnish your home. Whether you're looking for furniture, dinnerware, serving bowls, or that perfect piece or missing touch- you can probably find it here. I buy many of my Christmas presents here- decorative glasses, vases, accessories, decorations- and I can't help but pick up a little something for myself. I love some of their decorative stuff- whenever someone moves into a new place I pick up a new vase or two and some stones to spiff up their apartment. Everything is organized and the people who work their are helpful without being crowding and overbearing or indifferent and unhelpful. You can find many things here- anything from simple and monochromatic to decorative pieces to modern, even something a little more classical/traditional. This is my go-to place for most anything to do with housewares and decor. If it's a gift- they give you boxes (or I have had them box it for me) and you can get gift receipts, too. read more

On oct 21st, in the afternoon, I went to the tysons corner, VA store. I bought a marble table from the clearance rack. As I was walking out of the store with this very heavy table, the greeter accused me of stealing it, despite having a receipt. And demanded I walk back to the other end of the store with this 70 lb table to make sure the receipt wasn't counterfeit. I will never shop from your brand again. I went to Crate and Barrel Tyson's Corner location yesterday to look at sofa beds. I told Rebecca, the associate, right up front that I was just looking and didn't plan on buying anything that day, but she went above and beyond to take the time to show me all available sofa beds and how they work, and even gave me a couple fabric samples (custom) to take home. Rebecca is one of the best sales associates I've ever encountered at any store, ever. Give her a raise, seriously! Great experience here. read more

I don't use to write reviews but I was very surprised today when I almost fell at the store and one of the employees saw me and don't even bother to come. No matter that I called him. His name Andrew (he told me his name out loud) and I asked him a question about the furniture that I intended to buy (I didn't at last because of him) and a comment: to be careful because In the future perhaps an older person can fall ... he answered me so rude he was not even thinking about me or any customer falling in the store because of their furniture (wheel ottoman) he told me that I should know in advance that the furniture had wheels (how can a customer know something in advance???) he ended shouting that he did not need to grow and if I wanted I could talk to the manager and ran to the second floor leaving me there. So, I asked for the manager. She was really nice. Hope the store can take actions towards that kind of employees. I just wanted them to know that I almost fell and that they should have an eye on that forward to avoid any legal problem with other customers. This is a very colorful, HUGE Crate & Barrel location! It's like a playground. The fiance and I decided to put together a Crate & Barrel gift registry for our upcoming wedding. We love the brand names, quality and wide array of products. What took us to this store for the first time was the monthly Gift Registry event the store does for engaged couples. For two hours on a Sunday morning, we had the store to ourselves with other couples. Equipped with our own scanner and the helpful advice of store employees, we enjoyed choosing items that we thought would be useful for our home together. There are times a store employee here or there may be "too helpful"...overhearing my fiance say all the silverware looks the SAME, but then being "schooled" by one of the female workers that yes, there are in fact differences in each set of silverware (hehe....). But, the more info the better, especially as a young couple beginning a new home together! Love this specific location and will be back soon to add more items to our registry! One more thing to add...as far as I know, there are no expiration dates for gift cards, a very practical option! read more

What's not to love about Crate and Barrel? The location is a little off the beaten path by Tysons on International Drive and the parking lot can be a bear to get in and out of. The staff is helpful though, and there are two stories of furniture, housewares, baking accessories etc. I've seen better C&B's, but found everything I needed here and know I'll be back many, many times. read more

With this particular Crate and Barrel, you are truly getting the top of the line experience. There are several reasons why. (Rohan Siddhanti) 1. The size of the store = lots of options. I have never seen a C&B this big. It is multi-level, and has thousands of square feet of well-lit floor space. It is very well organized so that the items you want are easy to find. 2. The prices are not very high. The amazing part about this store is that the prices are not very high, and yet the items themselves look rather expensive. Additionaly, it's clear that C&B works to ensure quality in all their products. 3. It is the perfect place for any kind of gift for a family, house warming, have't seen someone in a long time, etc. Other than buying tech-gadgets a for you dad/husband, this place has something for everyone. read more

We came here last Sunday afternoon after visiting a few other furniture stores around the area. Most employees here seemed normal/helpful but one interaction really stood out to me - enough for me to post about it here. We needed some help on the top level of the building so I waited in line in front of the nearest service desk. There was a a middle-aged female employee talking with a customer behind the desk (so she could clearly see me waiting there). This woman saw me waiting there but consciously ignored me for over 15 minutes. I initially assumed she was just busy so I waited until I realized what she was doing. When I complained to one of the staff members on the middle floor she seemed genuinely apologetic and was very helpful in making sure we found what we needed. For comparison, at the West Elm near Mosaic District all the staff were completely busy but we were told MULTIPLE times by MULTIPLE employees "We are so sorry about the wait, we will be right with you!" I'm not sure why that employee at Crate & Barrel was behaving the way she was. She probably believes she is working at a high-end designer fashion store.. she needs a reality check. We won't be coming back, and we agree with other reviews about the terrible customer service. The service we received here speaks volumes about their brand. Such a shame too, but I'm sure Arhaus and West Elm are very happy. Bullet dodged. read more

I had placed an order online that was subsequently cancelled due to the clearance item being out of stock. The online customer service provided me the numbers of a few stores which may have the product I was looking for. One of the stores was this location. Amanda who helped me, was beyond kind and made every effort to help! It's always difficult to find clearance items when the system says they are in stock. Amanda went out to the floor to look for the product, of which I needed 8. She came back and said they had found 1, but thought they could find others. They then went back to find the others and complete my order to be mailed to me. For many, when they found the one, it would've been easy to come back and say; 'sorry, we only could find one'. But this team continued to look for what I needed and went the extra mile to fulfill the order that the online store was unable to do! Fantastic service Amanda....thank you! read more

The ladies who work here are cold and unhelpful. They looked at me like I had two heads when I asked if C&B carried a 7 quart slow cooker. It took someone 20 minutes to bring one out from the back, and when I went to the register to pay for it, the same lady who was 'helping' me had to ask what I was waiting to pay for. But my main review is for the Crate & Barrel company itself. I ordered two of their Ebony Rattan chairs online (BIG MISTAKE) on April 17th. Apparently the chairs are made to order, although that was not specified online. Both chairs were delivered in June, but with only one custom cushion. I have called customer service more times than I can count, only to be given the same answer every time---that the cushion is on 'back order until next month'. What?! A cushion to a custom made chair that was already delivered is on back order? So the cushion delivery in June became July, July became August, and August will now become September, for a chair that was ordered in APRIL. But the customer service representative that I spoke to yesterday did offer me a $38 credit (20% of the cost of the pillow) for the inconvenience, so there's that..... Ordered a 4 piece sectional sofa from Crate and Barrel Tysons. Told it would be about a month before it was delivered. 2 months later, we took delivery and one of the pieces was clearly used. The item was covered in pet hair, grey human hairs, under the sofa cushion we found food crumbs. Item was ripped underneath. It was just gross. Not happy that Crate and Barrel is pawning off used items as new. Crate and Barrel Tysons was apologetic about the "mixup" and offered to replace the item. Terrible customer service. Tried to return an item off of our wedding registry and was told that we were unable to. Even after speaking to the manager Candice, who very was rude and dismissive. Not setting the appropriate example for the rest of her staff. Ended up going to another location and they were happy to return our item since we are longtime crate & barrel customers. My husband and I visited Crate and Barrel last Saturday night to accomplish 3 things: to pick up an online order, make a purchase including a gift card and return an online order. There are so many people working here and so few working the registers! We had to wait for the pick up order in a line 3 deep- and then the guy told us it would be better if we picked it up at their outside direct pick-up location instead. Then we waited in another line to make the return and purchase. The salesperson took a long time to complete our transaction, mainly because she talked to every salesperson that came her way. She didn't know what to do when my husband told her the credit card we originally purchased the the items on had been closed. She offered us a gift card which of course did not work towards the purchase of a gift card. There were no wedding themed gift cards to be found and my husband (not one of the many people working there) went from register to register looking for one. No one offered to help or look in the back or anywhere else for them. We get home and the icing on the cake was the online order items we received were wrong. I'm not sure what is going on with this store, it is nice and beautiful inside but we did not have a good experience with the staff. read more

I absolutely adore you Crate and Barrel!!! But that adoration alone doesn't earn you this 5 star rating. No no it just doesn't. But I will tell you, this store plus associate Melissa Z. has done it! I have yet to be at this store physically, but called around to locate a item that was sparse within the entire company. I called everywhere and the associates at the other stores sounded annoyed and said they would call me back after looking... And guess what? None of them did!!! (Surprise, Surprise) When I called this store and the lovely Melissa Z. assisted me over the phone and I was truly shocked at how great she was, I mean, she was truly amazing!!! I could tell she genuinely wanted to help me find what I was looking for. She was an absolute doll! And in the end she located it for me and actually called me back to ask if I had located the second one I has asked her about. I mean who does that??
