Restaurant week desserts
Joel S.

Stopped by for restaurant week. The space is long and narrow. They have a very strong happy hour- scored some $1 blue point oysters. Cocktails were good. Our waitress was lovely. The food was very good. The crispy river with tuna was really good. The calamari was crisp. The barramundi was really good. We coughed up the upcharge for the lobster curry. The curry was excellent. The lobster was unremarkable. This dish would work as well or better and at a lower price with shrimp. We were surprised that rice wasn't included and had to be ordered separately. The cookie and ice cream was good. The cheesecake was OK. Great spot for restaurant week and happy hour.

Amazing service!!!!!!! First time dining here, i will definitely go back. Oysters were fresh, $1 per oyster can't beat it. The sushi was fresh and delicious.

Crave is participating in Restaurant Week; prefixe 3 course meal for $60. Happy Hour lasts until 7pm which includes tiny tinis and oysters along with other small plates at discounted prices. The blue point oysters were $1 each and they were so good we got a few rounds of oysters. For RW we each got one appetizer: spicy tuna crispy rice and warm crab sushi. The warm crab wasn't like a tempura but the wrapping was toasted/seared on the outside, and although it was tasty the soy sauce was overly salty, my friend and I agreed it did need some sort of sauce aside from the soy. For entrees I got the stripped sea bass fillet over some asparagus and it was seasoned to perfection, perfectly balanced with some miso honey soy glaze, my friend opted for the black squid ink seafood pasta which was very tasty as well and flavorful. The reason I have a 4/5 was bc certain dishes were missing something to make it a wow factor for me. The dessert cranberry orange bourbon cheesecake was alright, the crust was a bit too grainy/sandy for my liking and the cranberry skins in the compote were annoying as I kept taking them out during each bite. Would I come back yes of course, the HH alone is worth it. It was a quiet Wednesday and the service was great, always coming to check in and would offer to get us another round of HH drinks and posters before the 7pm cut off. The place is big but still comfy cozy, dimly lite but not the point that you couldn't read off the menu.

Where do I start?!?! The space is beautiful, the service is great and extremely friendly and the food was on pointe. We had: - Seared Tuna - Perfect! I got it with the curry sauce on the side and honestly it didn't need the sauce (which was also very good). - Roasted Salmon - delicious - Za'atar Cauliflower with Tahini - delicious - Carrot Cake from Magnolia - very good Overall we had a great meal and can't wait to come back.

New upper east side location of the Crave Fishbar family which has a few other locations across the city. TLDR - vibes + service both 5 stars. Food 4. Overall very enjoyable meal and would go back again. The food was good, but not mindblowingly great. Menu is a mix of your fishbar favs (i.e. some sushi rolls, some raw bar, fish-forward entrees etc). Started with the octopus and warm crab sushi roll. Octopus was a hard 10. Possibly the best grilled octopus I've ever had. Octopus is very easy to get wrong but this one was perfectly tender, not at all fishy, wonderfully cooked and perfectly paired with surrounding accoutrements. Best thing we had by far. Warm crab roll was disappointing. A lot of rice and the crab itself definitely got lost in there. Not a big fan of the ghee and resulting greasiness of the roll. Others may care for the flavor profile more than we did. But again, flavor aside, the crab was really overpowered by too much rice. Entrees were good but not great. I got the seared tuna which was served over a Mexican street corn style corn + potato mixture. The tuna was fresh but i wasn't the biggest fan of the pairing. The corn tasted good but there was too much of it and it was a bit sloppy for a more refined seared tuna. The potatoes were good but became soggy and overpowered by the wet corn. Nothing tasted bad but just not the most optimal preparation IMO. My wife got a fusili dish which was tasty for sure. Food aside - vibes were great. Really nicely designed space with the right mix of hip and coziness. Service was a highlight too. Shout out to EVE who was our server and couldn't have been more lovely. Happy to be there, answered all our questions passionately and was by our table all night. Reminder that good service is not lost and makes such a big difference. Good meal overall. We'll return. Go check it out

Heard that Crave Fishbar opened another location in the UES so I stopped by for their happy hour. Only oysters and some drinks were cheaper during their happy hour so overall it was still pricey, but I still enjoyed my time. Started off with some of their apps: -Salmon sashimi tostada: the salmon was fresh and well-seasoned, while the tostada shell remained crunchy. -Calamari: fried calamari pieces were mixed with a mayo sauce, paired with additional herbs and bean sprouts. I like how it was well-seasoned overall, and the herbs provided a refreshing mix, but not sure if the mayo really added anything. -Fish taco: The fish was fried nicely with a light batter. The ratio of sauce to veggies to meat was solid. Tortilla was soft. I enjoyed the taco as a whole but thought it could use a little more seasoning. Also thought it was supposed to be spicy per the menu? -Oysters: I'm not a big oyster person but my partner said they were all really fresh. We also tried the crab sushi roll - you can't go wrong with seafood and rice, but really surprised was that hidden basil leaf that provides a sweet herby taste to the crab meat. Drinks were also good! You can get your margs spicy or regular. Appreciate how it wasn't too sweet or too sour. Service was fine. The staff checked in with us frequently but wasn't super warm. While we understand it takes a while to shuck oysters after receiving several orders, our oysters took at least 30-40 mins, and interestingly other parties who arrived later than us got their oysters first thing before our apps even came. The store itself gave off intimate vibes and was pretty spacious with high top tables and bar seating.

First time dining at Crave last night and I'm already planning my next visit. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the ambiance is cozy and comfortable. My server, Cami, was a delight and she knew the whole menu front to back- a rarity in restaurants these days. The manager, Heather, was an absolute gem! She overheard me say it was my first time there and came right over and introduced herself. She even checked on me throughout my dinner! I started with oysters (recommended by Heather) which were honestly the best I've ever had in my life! Not to mention the oyster slider which was equally amazing!! I had the linguine and clams for my entree and absolutely loved it! The whole experience was top notch and so incredibly craveable!!! This is my new spot!

Great dining experience, very swanky settings (we had a cozy corner view of the kitchen, and the ambiance is what I'd call "smooth jazz on a Friday night". The food was excellent and we had a great waitress who was gracious and patient.

Grilled Fish Tacos

Food was good, I didnt realize we were dining in a sustainable seafood restaurant until we got the sushi with the soy wrap instead of the seaweed. It made sense. The wrap reminded me of dashi but overall pretty pleasant in adjunct to the tuna. Oysters with caviar were delicious! Fresh and a little bit on the pricey side. Fish tacos were out favorite--the fish was fresh. Service was good.

Great vibe, nice happy hour, service exceeded expectations! We came for oysters, bubbles and dessert. It did not disappoint.

We have been going to the West side location and are glad they finally opened one on the UES. We always come for the oyster happy hour which is excellent. Service was also amazing!! The happy hour in this location is from 5-630. They have a wide selection of oysters on happy hour and several drinks. The sliders are a must. They are juicy and perfectly cooked. I will definitely be back for more.

The biggest question then became, where to go? We needed a place that was relatively easy to get to that would hold close to 100 people. Jungly was a contender for several reasons - it's location, size, vibe, and menu all seemed to check off. It also helped that I had done business with the owner previously at one of his other spots. It seemed like the natural choice, so I went ahead with the booking. Jungly is located in LIC - it's a pretty convenient spot as its close to the LIRR and the subway. Parking can be a challenge, but luckily I found a spot only a block away. The space itself is nicely set up - walking in you're immediately greeted by the bar area with dining areas both to the left and the right. Due to our size, they closed the place to the public and we were able to freely roam the bar area and one of the dining rooms. In addition to standard tables, they have some lounge space and high tops by the bar. The vibe is somewhat modern - a black/grey color scheme paired with neon and golds. It looks like the space could easily be converted to a club-like atmosphere. Since we were here for a private event, the food was set up buffet style - we chose three apps, four mains, and two sides. Ultimately, for apps we chose pita bread with dips, steak tacos, and shrimp tacos. For mains we chose fried chicken sliders, smashed beef sliders, cacio e pepe, and roasted chicken. For sides, we got fries and Brussels sprouts. In general, all of the food was tasty; the strongest dishes were the tacos, fries, and the chicken tacos. The tacos were generously filled, the fries were the crispy skin style, and the chicken sliders were nice and crispy. The weakest for me was the cacio e pepe - not much flavor and just not really a standout IMO. My communication with management to set up the event were a little staccato, though in the end everything worked out. For the most part, my communication with them was consistent in the days leading up to the event. Service the night of the event was overall good - they were very accessible but I found that they could have replenished the food a little faster in response to the rate it was being taken from the buffet. The bar, on the other hand, was great - both in service and variety of liquor available. Overall, we had a great event at Jungly. They were professional, fair, and delivered on the goods. I would definitely consider hosting another event there, or dine here on my own.

The bartender, the one person who should be welcoming and engaging, came across as rude and lacked any charisma. On a Friday night, good energy behind the bar makes a huge difference, and that was completely missing. I ordered a margarita, which is one of the simplest and most common cocktails to make. I asked for it really sweet with plenty of salt on the rim. Instead, it came out barely sweet and with almost no salt. For a $17 margarita, I expected much better. I've had to return the drink because I've had better margaritas for $12 at other places. While waiting for my friend, I had to wait with a glass of water because I didn't trust the way they made the drink. The bartender told me I either needed to order another drink or move, which felt unnecessarily rude and unwelcoming. To be fair, the food was good and the space itself is nice.
