    Chicken Parm

We met up at Cravings for lunch with my mother-in-law, and this spot is totally deceiving from the outside! I wasn't expecting them to have so much variety. The desserts in the case drew us in right away, and they had a great selection of breakfast and lunch options. They also had a nice selection of ice cream! I enjoyed a chicken parm sandwich, my husband liked his Italian combo, and my mother-in-law liked her omelette. We picked out a lava cake, which we were a little sad they couldn't heat up for us, but it was still good! We'll be keeping this spot in mind for a convenient breakfast or lunch.

First impression when you walk in is that the service counter area is bigger than you'd expect but they only had 6 tables to sit down and enjoy your food. My wife and I ordered the Godfather and a make your own Rost Beef with lettuce, tomato, Swiss and mayo. The meats were pre sliced in the refrigerated prep station but the godfather meats were a little too thick than what I like in my sandwich. The roast beef was a nice med rare and sliced properly. The veggies were fresh and the sandwiches were well prepared by the friendly staff. My only 2 areas of opportunity other than the thickness of the godfather meat would be .. 1) a bit more meat in the sandwiches and 2) the bread. The bread was a soft white grinder roll that just didn't cut it. I'm looking for a crispy crust and a soft inside possibly with some sesame seeds baked on... If they just changed the bread it would take them to a whole other level !!!! The best surprise was the desert cases with lots and lots of options. I have pictures of the cake slices and cupcakes but I forgot to take a picture is the other one with all rhetorical different brownie options ... there had to be at least 10. My wife added a Reese's brownie to our order and it was amazing !!! Definitely worth a try if you're in the area and we would definitely go again !!! But to the owners !! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE up your bread game and you'll be the best of the best !!!

Some Instagram Friends posted pics of sandwiches from Cravings. I could tell it was a great place, with terrific ingredients and well made grinders. I recently ordered a Chicken Bacon Ranch and a Godfather (essentially an Italian Combo with lettuce, tomato, roasted reds, provolone, oil and vinegar) with added Banana Peppers and Mayo and them over the course of a few days. The bread was fresh and up to the job. The Italian meats were first rate. The chicken cutlets were awesome. All of the toppings and flavor combinations were on point. Cravings is now up there with my favorite places to get grinders in the Greater Hartford area. A few words on the atmosphere. The outside building appearance, while fine, is not really a draw. The inside, while not fancy, is a comfortable place to eat. But you could get takeout as well. I'm not factoring this into my score at all. Five Stars

Way better than I was expecting. I was craving a sandwich for lunch today but haven't had a ton of luck in the area finding a good one so decided to order from this place on a whim and it was 20% off on DoorDash so I figured why not. I was very pleasantly surprised. I ordered The Godfather and The Bear. The former is their version of an Italian combo and the latter is a warm chicken cutlet sandwich. The chicken cutlet was perfectly breaded and pounded thin. Delish! Both of them were a really good size for the price (around $11.50 for the whole grinder. I'm so picky when it comes to sandwiches but I was blown away. The bread was soft, the flavors were balanced, and there was a little handwritten note apologizing for being out of a condiment and giving me (delicious) chipotle mayo instead. Everything was packed well and delivered on time. I would absolutely order again.

We were entertaining and in a crunch for a quick meal. We typically don't order out since we are most often disappointed. After finding Cravings on Yelp, we were impressed with the pictures and reviews and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! We placed a pickup order, and the customer service in person and on the phone was great. The restaurant was clean with a nice ambiance, with a showcase of desserts we would like to try in the future. We ordered both hot and cold grinders- turkey, roast beef, chicken cutlet, and meatball. Everything was delicious. The deli meat was fresh with a good texture (some deli turkey can be slimy and spongy but this was delicious). The prices were extremely reasonable which we appreciate in these very expensive times. We definitely will return and recommend this to others!

Cravings definitely will have us craving their sandwiches. Our food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful. The staff was super helpful and great at recommendations. The place is definitely popular based on the quick selling display cases. The Eli special is not on the menu, I asked the worker what his favorite sandwich was and he said a variation of the Bear. I asked him to make me what he would make himself and it was delicious. We also tried the steak and cheese which was a 9/10. If it was toasted, would have been a 10/10. The only piece that disappointed us was the side salads but that's okay. It's about the sandwiches and those were delicious.

    Baked goods

I was in the mood for a panini and smoothie spot, and came upon this gem on Yelp. Happy to say I was not disappointed. This sandwich shop/bakery has a great selection of sandwiches, pasta dishes and baked goods. I ordered a Chicken Cordon Bleu hero (grinder), a slice of carrot cake and a strawberry shortcake cupcake. The hero was very tasty with a deep fried chicken cutlet, ham, swiss cheese, lettuce tomato and mayonnaise. Hard to get that combo wrong. The carrot cake was fantastic, the cream cheese frosting was the highlight, tangy and not too sweet and the cake had the perfect amount of ginger, raisins and nuts. The cupcake on the other hand, was a disappointment, in particular the cake base which I found to be very dry, and the strawberry topping was ok, not enough to make up for the dryness of the base. Service was quick and friendly, and the premises appeared clean and welcoming. I highly recommend this place and look forward to returning to try the other signature heros (grinders!) ‍

Outstanding Wrap sandwich! Options included Hoagie, grinder as well. Got this toasted...so good!

Quick visit in town, always looking for local spots...this place is a gem! Great variety, lots of help to make the sandwich just your way.

Boyyy have I been waiting for this. After seeing this place on Yelp multiple times and always being next door buying food for my fur baby, I had to stop in today to give it a try. I must say it's a bit dimly lit on the inside (hardly any windows) but veryyyy clean. The service was fast and friendly. I ordered the Italian American grinder, the meat on my sandwich was top quality, the bread was good, and it was pretty large! I could barley eat half before I got full. I also tried the pasta salad and potato salad. I wasn't a huge fan of the potato salad, personal preference 100%. I'm quite biased and their recipe tasted rather sweet to me which was a no go. But the pasta salad however was amazing, full of fresh veggies.

Very cool concept, you walk in and it's like a deli counter style of ordering. You order your food and then get a seat after. The menu items I sampled was a quite delicious chocolate cupcake, The Emmie sandwich, and a chocolate chip cookie. The desserts were really good, the frosting had a really nice texture and coated your mouth in a very pleasant way. The chocolate chip cookie was nice and loaded with chips. My sandwich was fire, I highly recommend getting your sandwich toasted because *chef kiss*. The sandwich itself was the perfect portion and so good. The bacon on it was so insanely crispy, that's how I like my bacon, and the bread was tasty. Cute place, definitely would stop there again and the staff was very pleasant as well.

The angry Rick. Fresh chicken cutlets. Great sandwiches for only $10

Let's get into some great eating guys! I ain't ever been to J Timothy's, but I was recommended…read morethis place at work when I mentioned to some co-workers I would be going to the AMC in town where I got to see the first two episodes of "Lion". Honestly, after reading the reviews, I wasn't too confident I would even be able to eke on in for dinner, but my God was I able to get in, and thank the LORD I was able to find a parking spot with such a full lot of cars! What started as a solo trip to J Timothy's became a welcome table event when fellow Yelper Angie showed up with her husband and invited me over to their table. I'm SO glad we were able to have that happen! It became one of the best post-event dinners I've had yet. It did take a bit of time to decide between the three of us, but we eventually split our checks, with me taking care of my order and Angie taking care of the rest. We had Kate as a waitress, and might I say, she was not only nice and efficient, but she was very knowledgeable of the menu and very helpful and accommodating. I immediately requested a take-out box and she delivered just like that. She was even knowledgeable on what foods and such were made in-house and what wasn't, which is honestly very impressive! Also note, we all got to have a taste of everything that came in tonight, so we got lots of food to get to! We did have the wings for our appetizers. I did the 10-wing Dirt Style Honey BBQ Gold for mine, and they got I wanna say 20(?) Buffalo wings. They were cooked to perfection, and I was able to twist the bones off the flats. Both flavors were good, but even though it could possibly be my bias talking, I did prefer my flavor of wings. I will say the Buffalo had that signature spice level there, but it didn't overpower the wing, which is awesome! Oh, and there were also the potato skins which was rated perfectly, and that tasted really good as well. For the entrees, this is why I immediately requested the box. My order was the full rack of ribs. Angie got the chicken pot pie. Usually, I don't eat pot pies, but the one Angie ordered was honestly very good. Flaky, buttery crust top, and savory filling or chicken, potatoes, peas, etc. As for my ribs, whenever I tried to cut them, all the meat kept falling off the bone! That's how you know it was cooked properly! And dear God were these ribs were delicious, succulent, and delicious! Did I mention they were delicious? The BBQ sauce was a symphony of bliss that helped make each bite of rib taste like I went to Cloud Nine! The coleslaw it came with was good, but it's not something I would say can compete with the South. But good all the same. Drinks were great too. I got the Dragon Fruit Martini(?), and that was sweet and relaxing to have after a long summer and a long drive to Plainville. Oh, and we also got dessert! Again we picked different things: Angie ordered the "Not Fried Chicken" while I went with the Key Lime Pie. Wherever these guys get their key lime pie from, keep them coming and let me know so I can get some more myself! The raspberry sauce was a great choice for accompaniment and complimented the pie nicely. And the slice was divine! The Not Fried Chicken is a very innovative idea, and it tasted good as well. I can see now why this place gets so much love. It's insane how good this place is in just about every aspect! The sink did take a bit to learn, but that was about my only criticism, other than that this place easily gets 5 stars from me, and I am so glad to have had this dinner with Angie and meet her husband. #KeepYelping

A friend of mine took me here for lunch after church during a recent visit to CT. The interior was…read morerustic, comfortable, and spacious with 2 levels. We chose booth seating on the 2nd floor, which was cozy, and boasted a cool view of the downstairs area. For my beverage, I chose the Cherry mocktail, which was oh so fizzy, refreshing, and a nice mix of sweet and tart. We shared the Chili Dirt Wings and Fried Calamari. The Wings were fried twice and generously sauced. They were satisfyingly crispy and full of bold flavor with a bit of a kick. The Fried Calamari was light and crunchy. I had a tough time selecting my entree, but finally went with Taverne Grilled Meatloaf. This dish consisted of beef and pork meatloaf, loaded mashed potatoes, and mixed vegetables. The Meatloaf was cooked perfectly on the char-broiler, giving it a slightly smoky taste and bit of caramelization, then smothered in a tomato glaze. Meatloaf was delightfully tender and well seasoned. Loaded Mashed Potatoes was mouthwatering, covered in melty cheese, bacon, and scallions. Veggies included carrots, zucchini, squash and had a great consistency, adding a fresh element to the dish. For dessert, I had to get one of my favorites: Sticky Toffee Pudding. Their version was a moist, dense sponge Bundt cake with caramel sauce. It was decent, but overly sticky sweet even for me. Service was solid. Our waitress was welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. Everything came out in a timely manner. If I return, I would want to try the Shepherd's Pie, Boneless Braised Short Ribs, or Pierogies and Kielbasa.

With things getting so…read moreexpensive, it's very refreshing to see a place that can give a lot of value for a reasonable price. The restaurant is fairly small, but the portions are big! I got the disco fries as an appetizer and they were a delicious combo of gravy cheese and seasoning. You could also tell by the bite and the shape that they were made fresh which is also a big plus. I got the hungry bull burger and they were accommodating with substituting the horseradish crema for the house sauce. You would think double meat might be a bit much but it works well and the onion straws really make it shine. Finally I got the strawberry milkshake which was probably better than any shake shack milkshake I've had! The restaurant itself is also very eco-conscious by participating in newport biodiesel, so its great to know that not only are you getting a good meal but the restaurant you are supporting is also helping the people of the connecticut.

Mostly good burgers and dogs, great fries, nice but small location…read more Came here on the way to an event, so we opted for some lunch beforehand. This place was well reviewed, so we decided to make this the spot this time around. Ordering was done up front, but there were tables to sit at. Missus ordered while I took photos, and the food came out relatively quickly. Took pics and dug in. Sweet potato fries were the highlight. Hand cut, fried and seasoned. With ranch, they were really good. The burger and hot god were good in terms of quality and quantity. The condiments were a little overpowering though, ended up taking over a lot of the dish and really muddled the meat. The meat itself was lightly seasoned, relying on the condiments to bring the flavor. Not bad, but all elements should bring their own identity and add to a meal. The burger felt absent, and although flavorful was lacking that extra bit of salt or fat to make it truly shine. It's not bad at all, just lacking. Everything else was good, the price easily reasonable for the quality. It was just missing those finishing touches to be truly great
