This is a 5, but should probably be a 4.5. There is a lot of really, really, yummy food. The Envy is my favorite, and also the chicken pesto sandwich, and the Alysha (roasted portabello and other goodness) and those amazing little saltines soaked in something addictive. Actually, I haven't had a bad sandwich (or even a lackluster sandwich) yet. The only time I've ever been disappointed was with their salad plate. The pasta salad was lacking something (flavor?), and the chicken salad didn't do it for me either. But seriously - this place puts the usual sandwich places to shame, and for that it gets 5 stars. read more

Who knew sandwiches could be so cool! Who knew?! Everything is fresh & they even have gluten free. They have this seasoned cracker that is out of this world. Their ice tea is fresh brewed & everything is clean. Totally important to me. Sandwiches & crackers. Wow. Simple & Fresh. I always order the chicken salad sandwich so I cannot tell you about the tuna or meat sandwiches. This place is always busy so plan ahead. I think they even have a drive through window. read more

I previously gave this shop a great review and have since returned multiple times; however, I am not impressed with the rude member from today and the changes being made. Do not ask to substitute your side with the dessert any longer because you will be disrespected by away from the counter staff. They looked at me today as if I had 12 heads and when was told they never do that ummmmm every time I ordered like today in the past never a problem. The chicken salad was also far from fresh which was disappointing because I was excited to stop by. Unfortunately our wait for sandwiches was well over 20 minutes. Overall sooooo unhappy with the experience and all the changes that are going on. Oh I forgot to mention. About 2-3 wks ago prices were increased on almost all menu items. read more

This place is just awful. We were so disappointed after reading the reviews that this would be a healthy fresh option. Everything was a big sloppy greasy mess. My youngest son ordered the kids pbj. I guess they grill it so that when you pick it up the peanut butter is pouring out of the sandwich. My other son ordered the kids turkey sandwich. I assumed it would be deli meat but it was some kind of processed chunks. I got the club and a spicy ranch soup. They were out of fruit and pasta sides. The club meat had all been fried and again just looked like low grade meat. When I opened the soup it had a layer of grease. My husband ordered the envy. It had way too much of this nasty sauce. That ended up not sitting well. We paid over $30 for 2 kids meals, 2 sandwiches and water. Lesson learned. read more

I had the grilled pb&j for breakfast and of was delicious! There aren't too many vegan options but you are able to customize the menu to add or remove any ingredients you need to. For lunch I got the Alisha Sandwich which was really good I got it with no cheese, and when I forgot about the mayo pesto the cook came out and asked me if I wanted it (very proactive) I really appreciated that! She knew it had dairy so asked anyways. There's a hummus wrap I want to try next! read more

The Envy Sandwich with pesto pasta salad is the best combination you could ask for, and has never disappointed!

Any place that dresses up some saltines with various spices and renames them "Firecrackers" has chutzpah. I like that in a restaurant, so I guess that means I like Cravings. And the firecrackers are a free add on and somehow delightful, so dressed up saltines are fine by me, especially when paired with one of the delicious soups they have here. I haven't been wowed by any of the paninis yet (although I suspect you can't wrong with the prosciutto panini) but I think this is a worthy stop for a quick lunch. Personally, I love to get the soup and add on a decadent cupcake. One important thing to note-- there is only outdoor seating here, so people who can't handle the heat should plan to take their food to go. read more

I love trying local places and who doesn't love a good sandwich. With the help of Yelp, we made the short drive from Gruene to Cravings. From the reviews, I knew either me or the hubby was going to have to order the Envy. All the sandwiches come with a side (chips, soup, salad) and all sandwiches on the menu sounded delicious. Hubby got the Envy so I decided to continue my quest for the best chicken salad sandwich. We both got chips (they are the basic knockoff Ruffles) as a side. Didn't have to wait long for our food, but I have to say that the inside seating area is pretty small and would fill up fast if busy. My chicken salad sammie was pretty good, more toward the dry side for chicken salad, but good seasoning. The toasted croissant it was served on was an added bonus. I only got one bite of the Envy and it was really good. People behind the counter were nice, seems to be a family run business as they have everyone from grandpa to grandkid working that day! They had a variety of yummy looking cupcakes and pies for dessert but I had no room =( I think the total for two sandwiches, chips, and waters was about $17, so yeah a little pricey but it's worth it. Love this mom and pop place. All of the ladies working the day we went in were super friendly. I had the portobello sandwich with the pesto mayo and it was fantastic. I had the soup that tasted like king ranch chicken and it was tasty. Would have preferred it to be a little thicker but I still managed to eat the whole bowl. I grab lunch here about once a week and everything on the menu is good. They have different soups everyday of the week and they change monthly. The tea is really good, the pesto pasta salad is really different but great, and they have cupcakes...can't say if they are good or not because I don't eat sweets but they look amazing. Stopped in for lunch after visiting the farmers market. Staff was very friendly and looks to be a family run operation. Wife had a BLT and I had the Envy which is their signature sandwich. Both were excellent. I would have given them 5 stars if they made their own chips. Definitely will be back when we are in town. read more

We accidentally found this gem after visiting the children's museum and we are so happy we did! It has a drive thru which is super convenient with a toddler, and the food is amazing!!! We stopped by saturday after a trip to the farmers market, great location right off the square. Easy in and plenty of parking in the back. Food was great, I had a club and my wife had the reuben. The pickles and seasoned crackers on the side were a cool touch. Nice friendly service and well prepared food. Today at lunch...I had the Envy sandwich with chicken tortilla soup for 8 .49 with tax. Great sandwich warm and tasty, soup was hot and flavorful came with spiced up saltines and sweet pickles and even a little truffle cake ball! Excellent lunch. My only advice to this restaurant would be to fix up the outdoor seating a bit. The small plastic tables and wood folding chairs gave me a cheap feeling that did not match my lunch. read more

When looking around downtown New Braunfels for a dive that has fresh prepared sandwiches - find Cravings! It's a small space with lots of fans vying for sandwiches. Kinda like hitting up a large food truck. Space for about 30 people inside and out with a drive through. They bake a light Hawaiian style bun on site every other day! And its very good. The Envy is their signature creation - a very good turkey sandwich. Chicken Pesto is the second most ordered sandwich. Lots to choose from and good kids sandwiches too. The Tomato Basal soup... yummy. The firecrackers that you'll read about in every review are saltines with an herb rub. See you there! read more
