First time dining in, but I've always done take out. Sitting down was very quick in a Friday evening also the service was fast too. I ordered the combo #1 mild with the garlic butter and Louisiana style mix. Everything was fresh and hot. It was definitely enough food to fill me up and for the price was even better. I'm not the biggest crawfish eater, but I gotta have it atleast a few times per season. When I do get the craving, its always for the Viet Cajun style, and Crawfish Cafe has some of the best. This location is located in the Heights. Parking is located on either side of the restaurant with one side being a fast food parking lot. Park at your own risk. We must've came at the right time because we were seated right away. Customer service was prompt and friendly. We came for the crawfish but got a smorgasbord of appetizers and entrees as well. Thai Chili Wings were good but had a strong fish sauce flavor to it. Beware if you're not about that funk. Boudin Balls were huge and packed with flavor. Cajun Calamari was one of my faves. The light, crispy, and perfectly seasoned squid was delicious. Cajun Fried Rice was also a great addition to the meal. They don't skimp on the portion size of this either. We shared a bunch of crawfish and headless shrimp. We got it tossed in the Signature sauce which contains both garlic butter and kickin Cajun flavors. This blend was very tasty and had just the right amount of heat we were seeking. I also love they do most of the peeling of the shrimp for you so you can get through them quicker. There is no shortage of great crawfish spots in Houston, but Crawfish Cafe is still one of my faves. I will definitely be back! read more

Oooh mahhh gawdd. The basil garlic butter sauce was finger licking gooood. Definitely get the vasil garlic butter with MILD if yiu like that little kick. I accidentally ordered the medium and was slightly more uncomfortable than id like. I got the combo snow crab and 1/2 shrimp. I would recommend just getting the shrimp since the snow crab really wasnt as good as i thought. The shrimp was a pretty decent size though. The combo came with one corn and one potato. I also got the fried platter with 1 catfish, 6 shrimp, and 3 fried oysters. This also came with 2 sides which I ordered french fries and garlic noodles. The best part of the fried platter was probably the fish. It was nice and juicy as well as fresh. Cant say the same for the oysters. Was pretty hard and dried up. Can skip. I ordered a side of garlic butter which is a must if you looove garlic. I originally got it because medium was too spicy for me and wanted to dilute it eith more garlic butter. Either way, spicy or not i would 100% get it as a side again. Must try place. Great service as well read more

We came here after hubby heard about my crawfish cafe experience in Bellaire. This location is down the street from us so we were overdue to try it! We got the crawfish which is currently $8.99 per pound. We both got the grail (garlic butter and Thai basil) and the signature (garlic butter and kicking Cajun). Hubby enjoyed both but he liked the signature better but I liked both and couldn't decide which one was better! The good thing is you can order by the pound if you don't know which flavors to get and you can try them all! We also got the corn, potatoes, hush puppies and garlic bread! The only thing I'd prob pass on for next time is the hush puppies. They were pretty standard. I liked the garlic bread but wanna try the crawfish cheese bread next time! Service was very good! We sat on the patio and staff always came by to see if we needed anything. It's patio weather so it was nice getting to enjoy some crawfish with some good weather. read more

I know I'm going to eat good every time I visit Crawfish Cafe! The crawfish was fairly large and super fresh when I came in for dinner a few weeks ago. It was so good I ordered an additional pound in the Kickin Cajun flavor. The service is good even when it gets super busy they make sure to come check on you if anything else is needed. The only minus when dining inside is certain tables are right under the ac vent and it made my food cold quick. My dipping butter solidified faster than I wanted but the show must go on. It may be better to order in phases if you sit under the ac by chance so you can finish each item before it gets cold. read more

Crawfish cafe has been a staple for Viet Cajun crawfish/seafood in Houston. Long story short, this is probably the place I'd take out of towners and first time crawfish eaters. They've been consistent, and the long waits during crawfish season is a testament to that so plan accordingly: the weekdays are usually a bit better than the weekends. The inside is spacious with a lot of tv's. The acoustics is terrible and it can be hard to hear your conversations when it's packed. Outside seating is plentiful and available but it's not dog friendly. Service is usually good. We've had a couple rude hostesses before. As far as food I usually go for the butter garlic flavor for the boiled seafood - i think it's the best in my opinion. Some other favorites are the fried rice and their fried seafood options. We used to like the boiled shrimp, but the past 3-4 times it's been over cooked so just keep that in mind. Overall this place is our go to spot for mud bugs. Definitely check them out if you haven't yet! read more

I got the shrimp etouffee, so don't read this if you're looking for a review for crawfish! The size of the bowl was pretty big! You get quite a bit of food for $13.99. They use really tiny shrimp so it's not quite as satisfying as some of the other etouffee I've had. I thought it was a little more watery as well. Overall, I wouldn't get the etouffee again (yes, I get it, I'm getting etouffee at a crawfish restaurant, what did I expect?). Service was okay, though when they were resetting one of the tables outside, it wasn't great that the workers were dragging several metal chairs against concrete. Parking is a little tough but you can also park right along the homes behind, there's a little alleyway that lets you cut through to the other side. I would be open to trying the fried fish and shrimp in the future. read more

This is my second go-to place for crawfish. They have different seasons, spice level and flavor. The crawfish bread, crawfish and snow crab are a hit. The crawfish have been small this season. The margaritas are wine base. They don't let you add a shot to any drink. I ended up ordering the category 5. I would recommend eating but not so much ordering a mixed drink unless you order a beer. My family and I dined in on a Friday night so it was a little busier than usual especially with spring break as well so the wait was a little over 30 min but well worth the wait. I've been to this location a few times and have left extremely happy and satisfied every time. The cajun fried rice is a MUST. On my last visit, the crawfish were a lil small..but to be expected in January. The plus to that is 4lbs went a long way. I love that this place has a selection/range of flavor and spice whereas some places you just get what you get. The turkey necks are extremely tender and flavorful; although a little odd they come served in a separate bowl full of broth as opposed to a separate bag or mixed in with the boiled seafood like the other side items. They do not have a full bar but a small selection of frozens and bottled beer. The frozens are well mixed and still tasty/strong unlike some places with premixed frozens. The ambiance is okay..nothing to brag about. They have indoor/outdoor (covered with plastic on the sides for warmth) seating. The tables are pretty small, which can become an issue if you're with a group that orders several items. It can get noisy when it gets crowded while they are playing the top 40. Service is decent. The servers do seem a little frazzled once it starts getting busy but they are very friendly and apologize if any missteps. read more
