Not sure if that's allowed or not but I did not get towed. There's usually a wait and you will not be seated if your whole party is not all present when your table is ready. There's indoor and outdoor seating. But areas are more on the loud side as there so many table close together. Once seated the service is pretty quick. I tried to order just 1/2 pound of shrimp but was told that wasn't an option. I would have to order a full pound. On this day I ordered two pounds of crawfish and a pound of shrimp. I ordered them both the same way, spice level medium, tossed in garlic sauce. My only complaint was the shrimp was not the same spice level as my crawfish. My first time trying this place even though Im in the area quite often, the parking lot can be intimidating, but I came at a decent time and didn't have any issues I ordered 3 pounds of crawfish a with the Thai basil and garlic butter seasoning, which was delicious flavorful but not salty. I ordered mild and it had just the right amount of spice. The cluster of crab legs in the Coco Loco was good. It's a sweet coconut but not overly sweet. It really reminds me of a coconut based Alfred sauce, and it was good. Located across the street from the Kroger on N. Shepard, this is the Heights location of the Viet Cajun style Crawfish Cafe in Viet/Chinatown on Bellaire. The restaurant shares a typically full parking lot with couple other business, but additional street parking are available around. Now that the initial frenzy surrounding the restaurant's opening has dissipated after couple years, we didn't have to wait in line this time. We got the Cajun fries and cajun fried rice to share. For crawfish, my go to flavors are the Grail and the Signature, which are the mixed flavors. I'm disappointed with the Grail, unfortunately, the Thai basil notes weren't as prominent as they were before. And the crawfish size was pretty mid for the price. Among each pound of crawfish in various flavors, we found a couple of dead ones in each batch, which was less than ideal. They also ran out of bibs, but luckily no shirts were harmed during dinner. Got the smack pack and some broiled oysters to go. Oysters were delicious and with a good amount of bread. Smack pack was pretty good too. They even brought it out to my car after I ordered it online which was nice and you can just check in from your phone. There was so much food we ate the leftovers for lunch the next day. The best crawfish place I've been to. Love the taste of the seafood here and have been multiple times. Go-to order is oysters and a smack pack. The sauce/oil at the bottom of the dishes makes everything taste extra delicious. Even the sides like the potato, corn, and garlic bread are all worth it. The service is great, and I really like that they give you the gloves, the bibs, and the trash cans at your table so everything can be eaten cleanly. Parking lot is shared with other businesses and the parking space itself is quite small so you really have to park right in the middle. Getting out of the car was challenging but doable. I'm glad they have a location in the loop. I mostly go to the location on Bellaire. During peak season, the size of the crawfish was bit smaller at this location versus the Bellaire one and I was just there before coming here. Other than that, it was pretty much the same. I've been here a few times so on that note I'll rate it 4 stars because I've been here and I've been back, and I'll come back. It can be hit or miss honestly, the first time was amazing and the second/third were good. So Ive ordered crawfish from here, boiled shrimp, Cajun rice, garlic noodles, smack bowl, fried shrimp, mussels, boudin balls, chicken tenders and frozen drinks. Drinks- too sweet for me Crawfish- sometimes great and sometimes taste frozen-iykyk Garlic noodles- drier than expected Shrimp- 4/5 - seasoning is great Boudin balls- surprisingly not a lot of flavor but the dipping sauce helps Smack bowl- this is good, everything in one bowl!! Add a little hot sauce Cajun rice - this is good also and has small pieces of sausage which add a lot of flavor All in all, it's definitely worth a try and I know I'll be back. There are three crawfish cafe's in the Houston metro area. This one is the best. Food is always cooked to perfection. I get the kicking' Cajun or Texas Canjin. And the spice levels are consistent. I get it spicy. The place can get busy and the only downside is parking. There is parking behind the building but that can be full too. Don't park in the Burger King lot. read more

Crawfish in Houston is a must! I've been to Houston a couple of times and never had time to get crawfish. This time around I made sure to try some and it's currently crawfish season. We ordered a little bit of everything off the menu, garlic noodles, crawfish egg rolls, cajun fries and crawfish cheesy bread. The garlic noodles and crawfish cheesy bread were so good! The egg rolls were unique, it's filled with rice, peppers and crawfish. For the seafood, we did 6lbs of crawfish, 3lbs with the signature sauce and 3lbs with the Thai basil sauce. Also ordered 1lb of the head on shrimp with the lemon pepper sauce. Each of the sauces you can adjust the spice level. We did medium and spicy, I didn't think it was too spicy. The signature sauce is AMAZING! Full of flavor and lots of garlic. The Thai basil sauce had nice aromatics and you can taste the basil flavor. The lemon pepper with the shrimp was delicious, light citrus flavor with a tang. Overall, I enjoyed everything we ate and I can't wait to come back to Houston to eat more. read more

Loved my experience at Crawfish Cafe! We came in on a Saturday afternoon (~2pm) and were seated immediately, albeit outdoors. The outdoor area was really nice though: covered on top and plastic wrapped around to keep out any bad weather. There is a parking lot in the front and back, as well as some street parking behind the plaza. For the 5 of us, we ordered 2 lb of crawfish, 2 lb of black mussels, Cajun Fried Rice, and Crawfish Eggrolls. Everything was so so delicious, and not too pricey either! Yey! It's crawfish season. First time to visit Crawfish Cafe at the Heights. It is located in a strip mall. Limited parking and stores have reserved parking for their customers. There is additional parking at the back. We arrived early (5 pm) and the place was not full but we still had to queue for 30 minutes. Think they were trying to control the flow. There is inside as well as patio seating. Once seated, we quickly placed our orders. 2 lbs of crawfish per person. I ordered mine with The Mix sauce (garlic butter and lemon pepper). We also ordered 2 lbs of head-on shrimp with The Grail (garlic butter and Thai basil) and Cajun fried rice. Definitely order the fried rice. Highly recommended. Crawfish was a mixture of medium and small.... At least what I got. Hits the spot! Shrimp's wee ok... some shrimps are fresher than others. Place is busy. No frills place. The food at Crawfish Cafe is awesome and the service is friendly--definitely recommend trying their crawfish and wings! That said, I had a really frustrating experience with parking that I want to warn others about. There's a lot nearby adjacent to the shopping center. I parked there briefly while trying to check with the restaurant about where to park, and my car was towed within minutes. It cost me $300 and the towing company (Cody's Wrecker) was extremely rude on the phone. This seems to be an ongoing issue in the area. This company has scouts and tow trucks ready to tow in a predatory manner. If you're visiting, make sure you double-check parking signs and don't assume nearby lots are safe, even if they're just steps away. It's worth the walk to avoid getting towed. Still giving them four stars because the food and staff were great--it's just unfortunate that this parking issue is hurting the customer experience. Probably won't be back to location as the parking situation is not great. read more
