Overly hyped and expensive. It wasnt that good. I went on a Wednesday with my brother and my cousin. The best thing there was the water, the server and the calamari appetizer. The seating is really tight and cramped. I under it gets busy but its so tight and limited in there. The calamari w/ the spicy mayo was really good. It was light and crispy. Loved the seasoning on the calamari. I ordered 4lbs of crawfish w/ The Mix flavor extra spicy. I also ordered Garlic Parmesan wings. Quite expensive. The mix was okay. The lemon pepper is extremely overpowering. My crawfish wasnt extra spicy. Our server went to get it fixed 3x. I felt bad and asked if she could just bring the spice on the side and she offered to just get it retossed. The wings were not good. It was overpowering with minced garlic and barely any parmesan. I thought it was hella parmesan on it, it was garlic instead. I had to scrape off the garlic. My wings also had feathers as well. The ranch tastes like it came from a Kraft bottle. My brother ordered lemon pepper wings and he did not like it. It was barely any lemon pepper on the wings. They should've packed it on the wings instead of the crawfish. My cousin ordered the fried fish and 6 shrimp w/ garlic fried rice and cajun fries. The fish was good. Nice flavor cornmeal. Fish was a bit fishy but nothing overpowering. The shrimp was okay. Didnt like the batter on that. The fries were good. He also ordered 2lbs of crawfish and got the holy grail mild. The flavors were okay on that as well. The basil is really overpowering. Our server gave great service even w/ the issues we had with the spice on my crawfish. She was very sweet and attentive. Was very patient. Would I come back again? Probably not. Maybe if someone else wanted to go, but theres better crawfish places for cheaper. read more

Crawfish $8.99/lb - the mix flavor (garlic butter & lemon pepper) is my go-to. I've tried the signature, the grail, & kickin Cajun. There are 4 spice levels (mild, medium, spicy, x-spicy). I get medium. Bf and parents liked spicy, but it's actually spicy, so beware. The crawfish were still huge! (Went on 5/5/23). We got 2 lbs medium & 2 lbs spicy. It was a good amount for us 2 to share. I might have eaten a bit more than 1 lb. Corn $1.49 ea - kinda pricey but delicious. Soaked up the juices, so it's kinda spicy. Potatoes (3) $1.99 - good. 1 was small tho! $1 for 2 melted butters - didn't know they charged for this. 9 fried shrimp platter $11.99 - comes with 2 sides. We got Cajun fries (medium) and garlic fried rice. Fried rice was decent, but the fries were very good and crispy. Very good, crispy, big shrimp. I've liked the crawfish eggrolls before, but they've gotten more pricey at $8.99 for 4, so I decided to get more bang for my buck with the shrimp platter. read more

Garlic noodles: amazing we ordered 2 off these Side of garlic fried rice: I would pass on this next time. Seasoning we got hot speciality. I think next time I'll try medium the hot I didn't get to taste any of the Cajun seasoning. It focused more on the chili flavors. King crab: soo good. Came here with my SO to try crawfish. We were from out of town, so many of our friends told us that we needed to try it. We got two pounds of their crawfish with their house sauce. It was very garlic and salty but so good. Wait time was a bit long and I see a lot of the waiters and waitresses being so busy. They are diligent though! Overall - an ok experience. I attempted to join the waitlist on Yelp prior to arriving, but was unable to. I called and they said that you had to physically be at the restaurant to be placed in line. Ugh. Also was told it was a 20-45 minute wait on the phone, but when we arrived 10 minutes later, that time frame had changed to an hour/1.5 hours. Upon arrival, we checked in and had to wait a total of 45 minutes. After finally being seated outside, we ordered crawfish and snow crab legs. Both were seasoned really well, but took forever to come to the table. Our waiter wasn't the greatest - not once were we checked on or asked if we needed anything. We had to go out of our way to get him to help us with refills and another order. All in all, it was an experience. We will not be back though - the inability to join the waitlist online/via phone was a huge inconvenience and so was the long wait time. The inattentiveness also took another hit. read more

We discovered Crawfish Cafe due to two of its locations being in Yelp's top 10 list for crawfish in 2022. We tried both locations, with the other being the Alief location. This location certainly offers a livelier, typical Heights type vibe, and is always exceedingly busy on weekends. We've visited twice and each time there was a line of folks waiting just inside the door, with others likely on the list but waiting in their cars. Once you're seated you can take in the loud, raucousness of the atmosphere and enjoy some watered down cocktails and descent crawfish. They're descent, but nothing to write home about and definitely not worth the long wait when there are so many other places--including in the Heights--with less of a wait and better crawfish. read more

To note, the shrimp were mildly spicy and had tons of garlic, which I love. But if you're not a garlic fan or want more spice, you may want to ask for an adjustment. Whenever it's crawfish season, this is the place where you'll always find me at! I believe it was even the first place my friends took me to for a seafood boil when I moved to Houston (well at least their Chinatown location). Definitely for good reason! My go-to order has been 2-3 lbs. of the grail medium spicy, which is a mix of garlic butter and Thai basil. ABSOLUTE chef's kiss! The flavors are seriously out of the world, and it keeps me always wanting for more. I tend to also add in some potatoes and sausage as well; however, when I'm feeling extra hungry, I'll also get some cajun fries as an extra side. If you aren't wanting to use your hands, give the cajun fried rice and the fried catfish a try! Those are some pretty tasty substitutes. The only reason I've got to dock off a star is because of the wait time. It is almost always busy, so definitely expect to wait a bit. This goes for to-go orders as well! I remember I waited maybe an extra 20-30 minutes after placing an order an hour before picking up, and wait time to sit is usually around an hour. I think it's worth it, but I know that there will be some hangry people who disagree. read more

I have never tried crawfish cafe, but all my friends loved coming here so I decided to give it a try. I walk in and get sat immediately our waiter got our drink order and then took our order. Then our waitress was never seen again. We were sort of in a rush so I got my crawfish to go and then my oysters were on the expo line, the cooks rang the bell about 6 times and everyone just ignored it and walked past the 2 trays. I was gonna ask our waitress but she was sitting down eating a few tables down from us. I get it if she's on a break but that means someone needs to be attending our table for her. Or even I don't go on breaks unless I finished out all my tables let alone take another table if I'm about to go on break. We were not able to ask a server for our check because I only saw one person tending to tables so we had to go up to the front to pay it ourselves. I'm not bad tipper but for this small experience I gave what I believed the server deserved. Oysters were good I'm about to eat the crawfish when I get home but I already see there was no napkins, lemons, or gloves at all in my bag. I used to work at a crawfish spot and I've always asked if they wanted any condiments for their Togo order but this place is different so I understand. Overall, I would try this place again but if all this server stuff happens again I probably will not be back. I'll be back to update crawfish review. I've ordered food from here recently via DoorDash and so I knew they had some good choices. But I've never dined in. My girls and I had a nice dinner here last night and we got there just in time. Around 6 pm. Thank goodness because by the time we were leaving around 8pm it was packed and people were waiting for a table. Service was great. Gabe was super attentive and answered all our questions despite being a newer server there. He also gave some great recommendations. The ambiance is fun and lively. Great upbeat music playing and you can hear the background noise of multiple conversations at once. But not in a bad way. They also have a patio so I look forward to going back and sitting outside on the warmer days. The inside can get a little chilly because the AC is going but that's needed in the summer. They had decent sized crawfish and huge boiled shrimp! My friends and I ordered the crawfish egg rolls, boiled seafood, garlic noodles and everything was seasoned well, came out in a decent amount of time, and tasted very good. They have a option for curbside pick up, but the parking lot is a bit small (within the plaza). Also saw that they have outdoor seating on their patio as well.
