Fabulous vegan ice cream, AND I'm not a vegan! Still I get it every time. The best is when they have special vegan flavors like Dandelion. I dare you to try a new flavor. Went back again tonight (2/13 8:00 pm) with the family. While I bought two pints of 5 star Icecream the customer service was awful. The young lady acted put out because we wanted to try a few flavors first (vegan pistachio rose and vegan golden milk). She also was hard to hear and when asked how many scoops in a pint vs their two scoops she said it depends. Depends on what? Seems that when paying over $6 for two scoops they should be generous and the same each time. The over $8 pints should also be packed full of what ever delicious flavor you get. She was so hard to hear that she had to repeat herself. This is not the first time I experienced poor customer service here. Again the Icecream is 5 stars but I have to change my stars to two. It is the most delicious ice cream I have ever had. I now hardly ever get ice cream anywhere else. The flavors are so unique. I would be surprised to find many of the flavors anywhere else and the flavors are changed on a regular basis, so you can always find something new and exciting! I wanted a sundae but with one scoop of ice cream in their sundae it would have been way expensive to add the 2nd scoop. Their spoons were biodegradable as was their bowl, way to go!! We took out spins home. A really cool thing is you can by a growler for $15.50 which includes a scoop of ice cream and each time to can refill for $7.00. A great deal because the growler looks to hold about 2.5 scoops! A gem!! What got my friends & me into the shop was the sign promising "Honey Lavender Ice Cream." Yes, it was delicious. I bought the ZuberFizz float, with vanilla creme soda & vanilla bean ice cream ($6.25+tax). ZuberFizz is a locally made soda - SO worth it! The carbonation of the soda didn't overwhelm the float, as common sodas do. I also enjoyed being able to add the soda in myself!! That way if I didn't like the combo, I could drink the soda separately (which I did because there was more soda than I needed in the float). If I knew I was able to add the soda to the float myself, I would have gotten the honey lavender ice cream with the same ZuberFizz cream soda, and possibly just enjoyed them separately. Parking- metered city parking all over, but we arrived on a Sunday evening (free parking). The plan was to explore the city, so we walked until we reached the parlor. There may be free neighborhood parking also within 5 blocks of the shop, you would just have to look & have good timing. Brought the family here as it was one of the only places open somewhat late. There was a young male and female working and it was obvious that they were annoyed by us coming in so close to closing time as acted extremely put out to take our order. As they only allow five people in at a time to order, my wife and sister stayed in while the rest of the family sat outside and waited. When they came out with our ice cream, they had quite a story to tell about how the two workers were very rude and when my sister went to use the restroom, she overheard the two employees complaining about our us coming in and they used several expletives in doing so. I'm sure the shop owner would not appreciate this type of behavior toward customers, especially since the downturn in business due to COVID. Lastly, the ice cream was just not great. Between our two families we ordered 11 items (sundaes, cones, shakes, etc.) and 8 of the 11 went into the trash with more than half the ice cream remaining. Visited while passing through Durango, always on the look out for the best ice cream spots. This one definitely fit the bill. One of my simple tests for "This is a quality ice cream shop" is: How does the mint ice cream taste? If it tastes like it came from the grocery store freezer, big meh! If it tastes like fresh mint leaves, it's good to go! Suffice to say, the Mint Chip here was delicious; chocolate-y minty goodness. Due to the health regulations we couldn't try all the inventive flavors, but I guess that means we'll just have to go back. Prices are inline with other excellent ice cream shops. People, if you're paying less than $3/scoop, you're getting mediocre ingredients. There was no line so I don't know how fast they go, but the staff was very helpful and willing to answer my questions. read more

I was very disappointed when I saw it closed at nine but we decided to walk by it at 915 anyways just to check and I'm so glad they were open and I got to try this. This may be just a summer thing though. This may be one of the best ice cream shops I've ever been to - and I've been to A LOT. There is a somewhat limited selection of about 6-8 flavors each day however I would have been happy with any of the three I tried (salted caramel, mint chocolate, and "green mountain" lemon-lime). They do have non-diary options as well. Everything is locally made and they use organic ingredients. You can even top it off with a blue corn waffle cone (which was fun!) or make an ice cream sandwich with house made cookies (definitely trying this next time). We come to Durango every year for Labor Day weekend and this was the first time we have been to the Cream Bean Berry. The ice cream is sooooooo good. We went Saturday with a group of 6 we all had something different and all the choices were amazing. I had the peach and it was like I was eating an actual peach. Recently on a trip to Durango I discovered Cream Bean Berry. This creamery offers unique seasonal flavors and will please most palates. Their flavors change daily which is nice but also a bit sad if you find a flavor you really enjoy. I tired two flavors: the rose pistachio and Belgium chocolate. Rose pistachio - I should start by saying pistachio ice cream is my favorite so I always love to try new takes on this classic. At the Cream Been Berry, they mix pistachio with rose to create an aromatic delight. You get a great tasting creamy pistachio flavor with a punch of rose. And, it is a punch - If you don't like rose, this is not for you as the rose accent is not subtle. If you're willing to try something new and like unique flavors add this to your list. Belgium chocolate - creamy, decadent and chocolatey just like it should be. I recommend mixing it with a lighter option like vanilla. And, I can't say enough about their home-made waffle cones. Great flavor and crunch! If I could have ordered a dozen I would have. Overall, this was a great experience and I went back before I left. I highly recommend giving this place a try. Not kid friendly or parent friendly. I took my three year old in with me because he wanted ice cream. I am from here. Not a tourist. Born and raised. I was not welcomed nicely at all. I asked for a spoon-sized sample so my young child could try out sorbet, which he picked out but has never had so I didn't want to waste what little money we have on something he hasn't ever had and may not like (all of this I told to the ice queen that was begrudgingly waiting on us). I don't think I have ever come across a single ice cream establishment in my life that won't give you at least one small spoon sample. Very strange. I ended up going with the Cherry Amaretto ice cream (one small scoop in a small sugar cone) which came out to $5 and some change!! We walked a block down the street and my son ate his ice cream then began to choke on a sliver of almond that I didn't realize was in the ice cream. Much to his disappointment, I ended up throwing $5 in the trash a block away from this shop with the very unpleasant cashier who, if possible was even more unpleasant when she realized I didn't leave her a tip on the credit card machine. I assume she must either hate kids, mothers, or maybe she just broke up with her bf/gf/unicorn whatever. Either way, the owner here should do a customer service seminar because I'm going to start complaining to the chamber of commerce and ask them to do something about all of these entitled arrogant kids left to run our beautiful down town into the ground. Honestly, I'd rather had a long conversation with one of the homeless dudes that roam around than this chick. I won't recommend this place to anyone. $5 dollar small scoops, bad attitudes, and not a single sample for a toddler...jerks. read more
