This may be the spot on a hot day. Their ice cream is rich and very creamy but some flavors I preferred over others. The chocolate hit the spot, but I was not as much of a fan of the chocolate mint. Cream Bean has some tables to eat outside. It can become rather crowded. read more

My wife had the salted caramel and I had the coffee chip. Both were quite bland. My son also didn't like the mint chocolate chip. It had a funny aftertaste -- it tasted like rye bread to me. Hard to understand the high ratings for this place. read more

Yummy ice cream!!!! If there is a line don't let it discourage you, they do a great job of moving the line quickly. Everyone was so friendly and the ice cream was yummy. The selection wasn't huge maybe 10 flavors, so if you're wanting a specific flavor this may not be the place for you. It is totally worth trying out though. I had peanut butter which had real peanuts in it and salted Carmel. read more

Long line out the door. Looks like it would be nice local establishment for a dish of ice cream. Followed the line up to the counter to order. We were a party of 4. The young lady scooped us up, but wasn't exactly dished the way we thought we'd ordered. At that point I thought no big deal. Instead of handing it over to us , it was placed on the counter on their side and me continued standing in line to pay. When we got up to the cashier she never looked up at us or acknowledged we were standing there. She was counting the money in her drawer totally indifferent to us or our melting ice cream. I finally had to ask her if we could pay. She told me to go ahead and take my order. I asked her if she wanted us to pay. She was very rude. $32 for 4 servings and bad attitude? Never again. I hope someone will do something about this poor procedure in ordering to paying. read more

This is one of the best ice cream shops I've ever visited in the US! There's a dozen of different flavors which rotate on a regular basis plus, you get a few options for waffle cones - that includes the blue corn waffle cone depicted below. Tastes amazing! For good reason... great ice cream, and an amazing no-milk Chocolate flavor- made with coconut milk SO Good! You can have tastes to help you decide. And a single cone can have 2 flavors. Flavor was excellent but since they seemed quite busy, they neglected to scoop into the right cone at first and did not ask if we wanted our order rescooped before transferring into the correct flavor of cone. Loved this ice cream shop!!! So cute and a great spot to stop at after some shopping. The flavors are the unique kinds such as Honey Lavender and Strawberry Balsamic!!! We got both flavors and more) The Strawberry balsamic: unexpectedly SO GOOD!!! The balsamic didn't even come through like the way you'd think- it helped the strawberry and we will definitely get the flavor again!! Honey lavender: was muted. Not as good as Strawberry balsamic but still good! The lavender wasn't as strong as I though it would have been. There was a bit of a line but it was worth it! The employees behind the counter were awesome and offered sprinkles (free of charge) on the Strawberry balsamic and Honey lavender- super nice!! The sprinkles were also dye-free a nice perk to those who would need/want them. Plus some dairy-free ice "cream" was available too. This place is the BOMB. The selection of icecream flavors is small (10 total) but there's lots of GF and vegan options. The vegan peanut butter fudge was terrific. My husband had the salted caramel which he thoroughly enjoyed. They also have little desserts available (including a GF carrot cake which looked very tasty). There were a wide selection of beverages which combined teas/sodas/etc with ice cream which also looked delicious. My favorite part of the experience was being able to choose from 3 gluten free ice cream cones (cake, sugar, and blue corn). Highly recommend this local Durango spot! read more

Ice cream is kind of like pizza to me. It's hard to find bad pizza or ice cream. But it's also not easy to find exceptionally good pizza or ice cream. The ice cream I had here was enjoyable, especially on a hot July day, but not anything exceptional. I'm only basing this review on the one flavor I tried, which was coffee chocolate chip. It was fine. The coffee flavor just wasn't forward enough for me to rate it highly though. The blue corn waffle cone was an interesting option but ultimately it didn't add a whole lot over a traditional waffle cone for me. I wouldn't dissuade anyone from going here if you have a hankering for ice cream. And when I'm in town again perhaps I'll try another flavor. But I've had much better scoops and cones in my travels. read more

Stopped by ice cream truck in Home Slice parking lot to pick up 2 pints of vegan chocolate ice cream. Was told they no longer had it there but they did have cookies and cream and peanut butter fudge. Okay no problem may I have a sample of the peanut butter fudge to see if I like that one instead. NO you may not! Understand samples can be costly but if you don't have what I came for? We were so excited to stumble upon this place! There are dairy free ice cream options. I got the chocolate coconut. There are also gluten free waffle cone and sugar cone options. This was probably one of the best dairy free ice cream consistencies. It was super smooth and reminded me of traditional ice cream. They also offer gluten free and vegan cupcakes (chocolate cupcake and carrot cake when we went). I would stick to the ice cream. Hubby said the cupcake was dry. But the ice cream is fantastic! read more

Cutesy little shop on Main Street. Be prepared to hunt for parking. Employees were super friendly and patient with our large group of nine kids. Plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor. Bonus for gluten free cones! We got a wide range of flavors, including watermelon sorbet and salted caramel. The peanut butter vegan fudge swirl was the clear favorite, but everyone loved what they chose. Mint chocolate chip was the only disappointment- they use leaves, not oil, for flavor, and it had a strong herbal flavor. Just not our favorite. Excellent local ice cream maker with a great assortment of ice cream and sorbet flavors. There are several choices for cones and cups, or you can have a unicorn sundae, which is served in a cup with a cone (and some magic) on top. They also make floats with sodas or coffee. Very delicious ice cream with good serving sizes. The selection of flavors is both very good and adventurous. My mother is completely dairy free and gluten free, and when she saw the flavors on the vegan menu she had to ask to make sure they were gluten free and dairy free, as she was in disbelief that such good options were possible. We've been back two nights in a row, as my mother and now my older sister are incredibly glad to have found good vegan ice cream that isn't just a sorbet. My partner and I were in Durango on vacation and searched for an ice cream shop. This one has great ratings, is local/organic, and looked cute. We arrived at Cream Bean Berry about an hour before they closed on a Saturday. Sadly, they were out of cookies and one of their "today's" flavors, so an ice cream sandwich with salted caramel was not to be. That said, the staff was extremely friendly, the blue corn waffle cone my partner chose was quite tasty, and the flavors we sampled and selected were yummy. I'm an ice cream snob, and this is some of the best I've ever had. My go-to flavors are mint chocolate chip and coffee with dark chocolate chips. They had both and both were exceptional. Great flavor and texture. We spent a week in Durango and Telluride and little towns in between. This was the only shop I found that makes their own ice cream. They do it well. read more

My son got a scoop of the vegan cookies and cream at the cart by Zia. Unfortunately your menu board highlights it is "dairy free". It does not highlight that it contains nuts. He spent 4 scary hours in the Mercy ER due to a nut allergy. Please include this in your menu board, if you aren't "vegan", you may not know that those products are made with nut milk! read more

The location was perfect for us because we were able to easily walk there from our hotel. We were lucky enough to get outdoor seating, which made the experience even better. It was great to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful Durango weather, and people watch while having dinner. We decided to do a beer flight so we could sample a variety of their beers before committing to a full pint. It was a great way to try different styles, and we each ended up finding a favorite. Everything we tried was really good. My husband liked their Buffalo wings and whiskey burger, I enjoyed the seared tuna bowl, and our kids liked their pizza. It is definitely a busy and popular spot, especially during peak vacation times, so I would recommend putting your name in early and expecting there could be a wait. In our opinion it was worth it. Steamworks had a great casual vibe that worked well for both families and adults wanting to enjoy a brewery experience. The downtown location adds to the charm, and it definitely felt like one of those must visit spots while in Durango.

She returned with our drinks and said she would be back to take our food order. My wife and our friend's wife both ordered a pasta dish with sliced steak and spinach. My friend had a salad with salmon and a bowl of soup, and I ordered the filet with potato lasagna and spinach. As the evening went on, it became breezy and chilly. I asked another server if the patio heater could be turned on, and someone came over right away to help, which we appreciated. When our meals arrived, everything looked excellent and tasted very good. The food was definitely the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately, our server only stopped by our table once during the entire meal to check on us and it was lien she was in a rush to leave to table. We spent a long time waiting to see if she would ask whether we needed anything or if we were finished. It wasn't as though she had to go out of her way to reach us--she walked past our table numerous times while serving her other tables. The chocolate flavor was very mild, and the crunchy layer on the bottom was not particularly enjoyable nothing like a Dubai Chocolate. Overall, the food was excellent and deserving of praise. However, for a fine dining restaurant where both the food and drinks come at premium prices, the service fell well short of expectations. Great meals can make for a memorable evening, but attentive service is an important part of the fine dining experience, and unfortunately that was missing during our visit.
