The ice cream here is very creamy and perfectly sweet. We had French vanilla, soy milk mint chocolate chips cookie sandwich, and very berry strawberry on waffle cone. They were all very good. We were lucky to come in before a crowd of people lined up behind us. The shop only allowed in 1 group at a time which was great. It will cost you around 4$ each time but it's so worth it. They have freshly made ice cream sandwiches with freshly baked cookies that are epic. The classic chocolate chip with vanilla ice cream is amazing. The next favorite would be the sugar cookie with the strawberry ice cream, insane...There are 4 different sandwiches you can choose from and they do sell the ice cream by the pint which is nice too. Horrible service, horrible communication. Was wanting a nice ice cream before my flight home. However when we got in they had 4 ice creams left. All flavors nobody wants. An ice cream sandwich is good enough to share and can be a bit messy, grab those napkins! However, the ice cream sandwiches are well worth the price. They also offer different bases to hold your ice cream together, such as Brownies, Waffle, Do'Sants and even have GF and Vegan cookies. My bad for underestimating CREAM before. When I first saw the photos posted by Yelpers, I thought to myself, "Ok, just ice cream sandwiches. What's the big deal." Was I wrong! Normally, I don't go downtown because of its lousy parking situation but this time, I was here for the SJ Jazz Festival and happened to walk by CREAM. My sweet tooth nudged me to step inside...just to have a look which conveniently led to buying one to taste. It's a 3-step ordering process: choose your cookies, ice cream, and toppings. Simple! There were close to a dozen flavors of cookies to choose from. I picked the classic Chocolate Chip and the White Chocolate Macadamia. The cookies were big and chewy. I would be happy with just these roundies alone. But wait. There was still the middle layer of Very Berry Strawberry ice cream and my beloved Nutella topping in between. The ice cream by itself didn't really stand out but all three components together made the whole ensemble irresistible. It totally hit the spot on this warm day! I know this looks like an easy DIY treat but let's be honest, when you have a sudden craving, do you really want to wait for the whole process of baking and cooling the cookies and get the ice cream ready? I want it now :) There was a line at the store but it was moving. The workers stayed pleasant and patient. I didn't feel rushed. If there's anything I should whine about, it would be the small size of the scoop of ice cream which also started to melt quickly, although they were generous with my topping. I've observed many raving reviews of Cream for the longest time, but each time I was in the vicinity of the Palo Alto location, the line originating a block away from the entrance was discouraging at best. So after a few lost chances, I gave up until the new location in San Jose opened. The lines here are shorter and at times lacking. Waiting in line, the build up is grand but also very disappointing at the same time. Once inside, you have few seconds to make a choice, as the chaos and sheer quantity of customers gives you the feeling that you are stalling the whole factory like process of ordering, paying and exiting. I don't understand why they chose to occupy such a cluster-phobic place. Once you get your ice cream sandwich, with the first bite the whole chaotic process is a distant memory. I had the macadamia nut cookie with coconut ice cream and shredded coconut; it was a delicious combination. The cookies are perfect, not to hard or soft, so the sandwich is easily consumed without the potential mess if the cookie has the wrong consistency. The ice cream alone was smooth and soft with subtle sweetness. The marriage of the two was meant to be like Janet O. and I, and forever it shall last. I'm also a chocolate-a-holic. Whilst service was rather upbeat and friendly, they got my order wrong. Since there wasn't a huge price increase, I decided to let it go. I originally wanted a half sandwich (one for Gavin and one for myself) but the girl that helped me was either deaf or wasn't paying attention. I know I spoke loud enough. Cookies were chewy but had no taste to them. It certainly wasn't chocolaty and it felt as though the Nestle cookies baked at Subway would have been a better fit.
