After more than a month of curiosity, Creamistry finally opened. I had read a few things about this Nitrogen ice cream so I was interested in giving it a try. I think what actually sold me were the flavors they offer and seeing some of the gas pouring out of the mixers. My largest concern was the value, was the larger than regular price tag worth the schtick? I decided to go with the cookies and cream and the wife went with the black sesame. Something to think about, as a result of them mixing the ice cream right there, anything that would normally get soggy is actually crispy and fresh. This is a refreshing change in texture and flavor and is most certainly noticeable. The cookies and cream were delightfully crisp and the "cream" still had a sweet flavor with the sugary texture. Highly recommended. For something different, you can try the black sesame which is again, rich in flavor and is goes very well with the creamy base. It's hard to compare this to anything since I have never really had anything like it in the past. Now for the side I was concerned about, each ice cream was a hefty $6 a piece without toppings. If you want the toppings, add another $1. No sir. While the treat was unique and different, the price tag is a bit high. In my opinion, at the very least a single topping should be included. It's new and clean with tons of staff training so go a touch easy on them. They are frequently getting the order mixed up, forgetting to print tickets, etc... Liquid nitrogen is so much cooler being used to make ice cream than it is in a real laboratory setting because there's dessert involved (uhh yes, I'd like to give my lab one star please lol). The first step is to choose a base; you get the choice of sorbet, premium milk, organic milk or pineapple sorbet. The next step is to choose your flavor and there were plenty to choose from. I saw that they had churro, cinnamon toast crunch, fruity flavors and other various chocolate ones, but I opted for Captain Crunch (that's how they spelled it unlike the actual cereal itself). I'm so glad they didn't skimp on the cereal pieces because it would've been plain but every bite contained plenty of cereal! Finally, you can choose an additional topping for $1 each. Since I'm still a child apparently, I got mini gummy bears mixed in with my ice cream. There were also flavor combinations that were being advertised which looked good, too. The small size was perfect for an individual and it goes up to the family size which I'm sure is more than enough to share. The whole liquid nitrogen process is pretty cool, but $6 is a little too steep for a cup of ice cream! Their ordering sequence consists of three steps. First, you choose your size and base: Signature Premium (which they claim is the smoothest and creamiest of all the bases); Organic, Sorbet (4 flavors), or Coconut. Next, choose your flavor: Creamy, Fruity, or Nutty. I think they had about 38 different flavors in total! Last, choose your toppings: Candy, Nuts, Cookies/Cakes, Fruits, and/or Syrups. I ordered a Matcha Green Tea with Mochi, one of Creamistry's "Top Picks" according to their display list. The Signature Premium base was definitely super creamy, and the mochi paired really well with the matcha. It wasn't too sweet, but it did melt a little faster than I expected it to. I also got to try a taste of my friends' Thai Tea, which was pretty sweet, as well as the Taro, which had a pretty strong taro flavor. Creamistry definitely has a fun atmosphere. Candy toppings are displayed in different sized beakers, and you can watch them make your ice cream with the liquid nitrogen through the glass. Their ice cream is pretty good and they have a nice variety of flavors, but the high cost for what you get might have me choosing another ice cream shop next time. read more

I expected to pay more for liquid nitrogen ice cream but this is simply ridiculous. I've been to two other places that make liquid nitrogen ice cream and the price was not nearly this much. One place even uses organic ingredients that are locally sourced, and even that place doesn't charge this much. For similar size I paid about $4-$5 at the other place. This place actually charges extra if you go with organic base ice cream. I think it's about $0.75 extra so you end up paying $7 if you go with organic base. Don't get me wrong, the ice cream tasted great and the texture was very smooth, thanks to smaller crystals generated from using liquid nitrogen. I just don't think the price matches the quality. The wait time is also ridiculous. You need patience to eat liquid nitrogen ice cream since each ice cream is made to order. However, this place seemed slower than other places I've been to. From the time I placed my order, it took about 15 minutes before I got my ice cream. It's a good thing I came when it wasn't too busy, otherwise I probably would've waited at least 30 minutes. On the positive side, Creamistry has tons of flavors and topping options. They have about 50 different flavors and toppings to choose from. It's quite overwhelming and I think that's part of the reason the line tends to move slow because people have a hard time deciding. I suggest you look over the menu before you get here. You can access the menu from Yelp app. You can look at their top 12 flavors if you want to narrow down your choice. They are cookie butter, cookies & cream, Nutella, pure hazelnut, nitrogen dole, strawberry, matcha green tea, coffee, mint, chocolate, black sesame, and vanilla bean. Ordering is pretty simple: 1. I say luxurious because first of all, it is sooo creamy & rich, and secondly, it MUST be high in calories!! For those reasons, I cannot indulge as often as I'd really want to! Plus, it is a little too pricey & is considered a splurge! I really enjoy watching the Liquid Nitrogen in action and freezing the ingredients into the yumminess I know it will be! I did notice that the mixers in this Creamistry are different from the ones installed in Irvine. Nevertheless, they both function the same, from my vantage point! I usually get the Pistachio with almonds mixed in. This particular visit, I got the Match Green Tea. Both are delicious! When it is packed to go, I think they add just a tad bit more Nitrogen so it will still be frozen when it reaches its' destination. The couple times my son & his girlfriend brought them to me, they were fine! And it was about 20-30 minutes later. I like their waffle cones... more like a waffle cookie folded in half and put in a paper bag if it is on the side, and not served in your cup. When they are fresh & cooked properly, they are crispy and perfect. When they are either under-cooked or stale, they get chewy and are difficult to break off, bite and/or eat! If they put a Creamistry in my area, I'll be in trouble! Good thing I have a little distance between it and me! If you haven't given it a try yet, I urge you to get in your car and head their way! The novelty of liquid nitrogen ice cream has worn off for me; once the razzle-dazzle of the process is no longer exciting then one starts to wonder if the price is worth it. I walked into Creamistry at 1pm on a weekday. Business was steady but there was no line. I ordered a small cup of cookie butter. They really have the process streamlined here as it took only a couple minutes for my ice cream to be prepared and created, ready to enjoy. I even came back a couple days later to have a small "dole whip" in a cup (wow! yum!) and again, no line and quick service. The ice cream is indeed very creamy and more dense than regular ice cream. I can't dispute that it tastes great. I also can't dispute that the workers here are very chipper and customer-friendly. This is still a fun place to come once in a while but I'd be more apt to patronize one of the custard or shaved ice places in the area which provide equal if not more pleasure at a lower cost. read more

Ok, I'm a fan. My first experience here was eh. I didn't know what was good to get and I went for the basic combo: green tea, mochi, red bean. It wasn't all that great so I never went back until yesterday! I went with captain crunch and Nutella (a combo recommended by my friend) and it was AMAZING! Now I see what the hype is all about! I recommend the cereal flavors, one of my friends had the fruity pebbles flavor and it was really yummy. What I really like about the ice-cream is that it isn't mushy and takes its time to melt unlike other ice creams that melt quickly. When enjoying super-awesome liquid nitrogen ice cream from Creamistry, Eddie Murphy's "Delirious" bit fills my head: "I have some ice cream, I have some ice cream. And I'm gonna eat it all. And I'm gonna eat it all!". I love ice cream, but not all ice creams are created equal. When I first heard about Creamistry, I didn't understand what all the chatter was about. But I wanted to see if this place's buzz was well-deserved. When you order you choose your "base" - Signature Premium, Organic Straus Creamery (extra charge for this), non-dairy sorbet, or NitroDole pineapple sorbet. You pick a size and then decide on one of their pre-set flavors or mix and match your flavor with customized mix-ins (mix-ins are $1 each). A regular size with no additional mix-ins will set you back $5.50 (the reg size is a hefty sized scoop). Before trying it, I used to think it was too expensive for ice cream, but IMO the quality, taste, and uniqueness make it well worth it. The taste is amazing! Seriously the creamiest ice cream I've ever had the pleasure of eating. The nerd in me loves the science behind the creamy texture - because the liquid nitrogen freezes the ice cream almost instantly, smaller ice crystals are formed than in standard ice creams, thus resulting in ultra creamy deliciousness! The kid in me loves the "show" that goes on when watching the ice creams being made in front of you through the glass counter partition. As the employees add the liq nitro, large amounts of cold smoke fill the area and cascade down the counter, fun for kids and adults to watch. They have great flavors here that are different than the standard strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla. Some Asian influenced flavors: black sesame (really good with loads of yummy black sesame bits), (sweet) red bean, green tea, Thai tea (really good), lychee, and taro. Salted Caramel is also a must-try, perfectly sweet and salty. Other interesting flavors that I've yet to try are Captain Crunch, Nutella, Orange Bang!, and Tiramisu. Tonight I decided to get the mint flavor with Oreo mix-in with the standard Premium Base. Tasted like a Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookie! I have to say that getting crispy mix-in items is a great choice because whatever you choose will remain crunchy after the ice cream is frozen. So unlike store-bought cookies and cream where the cookies turn soggy, the instant freezing process keeps the cookies' crunch intact. So. Friggin. Good. If you're taking your ice cream to-go, they actually give your order an extra blast freeze to keep it frozen longer! My husband got a small Cookie Butter which I tried a few bites of. The flavor was really sweet (a little too sweet for me) and very creamy. What I liked about Creamistry is how the ice cream is creamy yet doesn't melt too fast. Also, the whole liquid nitrogen thing is a cool concept. What I didn't like about the place is it's pretty dang expensive for ice cream! We spent over $11 total for our two small ice creams, and we didn't even add any extra toppings or mix-ins. You will find Creamistry located in the same plaza as 85C Bakery Cafe, Gen Korean BBQ, and Class 302 Cafe in Cerritos. The menu was pretty overwhelming and it took me a while to figure out the ordering process: Step 1 (technically 2 mini-steps): Choose a size first (mini $3.95, single $5.50, double $8.50, nitroshake $7.50) and follow by choose a base (signature premium, organic [cost extra], coconut, or sorbet). Step 2: Choose a flavor (30+ different options) Step 3: Choose toppings. EACH topping & waffle bowl is additional $1 for single or double size & additional $0.50 for mini size. Brownie bowl is additional $1.50 for single or double size & additional $0.75 for mini size. Chocolate bowl is additional $2.00. *** Black Sesame (mini - $3.95, $0.50 for mochi and another $0.50 for waffle cone): As expected, liquid nitrogen ice cream had pretty smooth texture and ice cream wasn't too sweet. I was happy that the taro ice cream was more delicious than I remembered but I was shocked to find out it was almost $9! How do you charge $9 for a small ice cream?! I have visited a similar concept ice cream shop before creamistry. However, I like this place the best. The parking was easy and the store is clean for how crowded it is. The franchise owners are there all the time and they would listen to your suggestions if you can catch them on a slower time. The staff members are friendly and helpful. Even if it's your first time there, you wouldn't feel so lost. Also, if you are not hungry, a small size is a good size. A medium to share if you like the same flavor. I would suggest the cookies n cream for sure. I would also recommend black sesame and matcha tea with mochi. Both are refreshing and flavorful. Oh man, mouth is watering just by thinking about it. I've checked out Creamistry once before in Beverly Hills and I have to say this spot is so much friendlier, faster, and not cheap with their servings. It didn't take too long for our custom orders of vanilla bean, chocolate chips, and strawberries to come out. As the guy was pumping up the nitrogen, he was entertaining the crowd which made it a fun experience. The ice cream was super smooth and fulfilling for small size. When I saw the sign that Creamistry was coming soon, the nerdy side of me told me I had to go check it out. This place is unique because they use liquid nitrogen to make the ice cream right in front of you with their special mixers. You get to choose your size, type of ice cream (premium, organic, sorbet) and toppings (which is similar to Coldstone). They also have a menu with top flavors/combos that you can choose from too (if you can't decide). I ordered the Medium-sized Coffee ice cream with almonds in a waffle bowl (which is free if you order at least a medium). The ice cream was rich and creamy! Loved the coffee flavor. It was perfect! I also like the hint of cinnamon they used for their waffle cone. Only downside is the price. It's $6-8 for a small, $10 for a medium. They also sell drinks and shakes. One of the lower end Creamistry's that I have visited. It's pretty filthy here, and kind of disturbing that they make our ice cream on top of these sticky and dirty counter tops. I always order my Cinnamon Toast Crunch ice cream cups and of course they mess up on my order and secretly add in Cap n' Crunch when I didn't ask for it! Granted, Creamistry offers a delicious and extra creamy blend of your favorite ice cream made right in front of your eyes. I think majority of the hype is the liquid nitrogen process, but it is so darn mesmerizing to watch your ice cream made right in front of you! PARKING Creamistry is located next to a small pho place in the same plaza as Class 302, 85 Bakery and the Gen Korean BBQ! They have a pretty large parking lot, and parking was definitely not an issue during our visit. FLAVORS We ordered the cookies 'n creme with almonds, black sesame with red bean, and matcha with mochi. These choices were among their top picks and customized to our liking. Since it is their grand opening month you get a free topping with your order of ice cream. I believe each topping is $1 so that'd knock a dollar off your bill. We also received a free waffle cone with each order of a medium size cup. Their medium is definitely too much to handle for me! My cookies 'n creme was creamier than usual, which was surprisingly pleasant. The waffle cone was delicious as well but a little stale, probably from sitting out for a bit. Black sesame was light and fluffy and matcha tasted fresh and... real. We totaled about $32 for three medium size ice creams. Regardless, it was definitely worth the try! This is not your basic ice cream, this place is super duper scrumdiddlyumptious! I had no idea what to order because it was my first time here. I didn't even plan on stopping by but wanted something decadent to end my busy day. Paying my cell phone bill next doot, I got temper watching people having ice cream outside and made my way in. I didn't know what to order but a brownie with ice cream sounded just about right. I got the brownie with banana ice cream. I was told to have a seat and they would call me when it was ready..that means they took their time making it fresh..machines were working, must be a special technique cause it was absolutely fabulous. Probably the best ice cream I've ever had, it was delicious! Price for a medium brownie cup with ice cream was $12.00, no toppings just ice cream. Service was great! I've been here before a year or so back and I use to love their cake batter ice cream but today the texture was off. As it melted it got kind of stringy gummy and the flavor was lighter than what I remembered . Plus I swear the cup or the size of scoops was smaller than before. Also my husband's ice cream was melted on the top the bottom he said was fine but why even hand it to him like that. I saw the guy making it struggling and he had to take time to wipe the cup because it was goopy. I just think their having alot of technical problems with their product. Idk if I'd be back since it is on the pricey side. read more

Absolutely fire ice cream place the ice cream was made super quickly and I can tell there was care taken to make sure it was made well. The store was kept very clean and all the tables were from crumbs and not sticky. The lady taking my order was also very nice and helpful as this was my first time here.
