Finally came around trying this place. Nitrogen ice cream..it seems to be a big thing in the Bay Area, so I wanted to see how this place turned out. It was a little confusing to order, with the 3 choices of milk. The server had to repeat everything to me twice because it was quite a large amount of information the first time. I ended up getting the cookies and cream, which seemed to be just frozen milk with oreos? I got the small, premium milk, and it was more than enough as is. Very very good, and very filling I would admit. I tried my sister's salted caramel and that was declicious too. Biggest flaw for me is the cost (a little over $5) for a small without toppings. I ice cream. And Creamistry services it up like I've never experienced before. The one main reason I have taken a huge liking to their ice cream is how smooth and cream it is. They say it's because of the immediate freezing of the cream with the nitro. Whatever or however they make it, it's always a great texture that I appreciate for my favorite creamy dessert. There's such a great variety here and they even offer alternatives for those of us, yes I am, that are lactose intolerant or sensitive. I'm more on the sensitive side rather than intolerant. But lucky me, whatever cream they use here, I can tolerate really well. I would NEVER come here again. It was really dirty and looked very unsanitary. They had messes everywhere they didn't bother to clean up and the wait was extremely unreasonable. I was there for a little under an hour for ICE CREAM. Yes the line was very long and slow but that wasn't even half of the wait; the majority is spent waiting for your ice cream to be made. Plus this place is pretty pricy, $20 for three regular, their smallest size, ice creams. Behind the counter was complete chaos. When I received my ice cream it was melted and leaking all out of the cup creating another mess. Basically in the time I was here none of the workers were bothered to clean up any messes, paid an extremely unreasonable amount for ice cream, and of course was here for more than 45 minutes.. Decided to spend my NYE with my son this year and make a day of it. After the morning of shopping we decided to grab a snack and ended up at Creamistry. Since we were the only customers there they gave us all their attention! They gave us the breakdown on the process and we began by choosing the size, and then the cream base, and finally the flavor of ice cream you want. They mix everything up and then they move over to the nitrogen to freeze all that yumminess right before your eyes. My son was quite amused. There are tons of flavor combinations to choose. We decided on medium sized signature premium $8.50 and organic is $1.50 add-on. My son decided on the organic with Reese's Peanut Butter in a waffle bowl (free) and I went with the signature with butter pecan in a waffle bowl. We also ordered the cookie sandwich with cookies and cream ice cream ($7.50). My favorite was definitely the cookie sandwich. The fresh baked cookies were still warm and melted the ice cream a bit but so sweet and creamy. There were a ton of Oreo cookie bits in the ice cream which I really loved. I highly recommend trying the cookie sandwich! The waffle bowls were also creamy and full of sweet flavors. The Reese's flavor was amazing, next time we will get the add-on of Reese's Peanut Butter pieces to make this one more chunky! The butter pecan was so rich and buttery and full of pecan pieces! Finally gave Creamistry a shot after a year of watching liquid nitrogen clouds surround the employees when preparing ice cream from the outside. The process is fun to watch and the ice cream is good but I don't think the liquid nitrogen does much in terms of flavor nor texture to make it differ from others. I ordered a root beer nitro float while a friend customized a cup with strawberry ice cream, cheesecake mix ends and whipped cream. The strawberry ice cream was decent. The cheesecake mix brought a better flavor to the ice cream in my opinion. I'm not sure what I was expecting when I ordered the nitro float but when it was ready I thought to myself...that's it? LOL It was a simple, classic root beer float. The float however is one of the better root beer floats I've had in long time. Just goes to show sometimes keeping things simple tends to work best. My only gripe is for something as simple as a single scoop of ice cream with soda poured, its a little steep in price. Creamistry isn't groundbreaking but it does it's job with satisfying an ice cream craving. This is the new ice cream parlor in Cerritos where they utilize the nitrogen to freeze cream turning it into ice cream. It's the same concept used at the Ice Cream Lab in Beverly Hills except at Creamistry, you are offered a lot more options in terms of flavors and combinations. A few of us ventured here after stuffing our faces at Gerry's Grill because a Yelp gathering is just not complete without dessert. Yes, you can quote me. Just as the place in Beverly Hills, it's always cool, no pun intended, to watch the servers prepare the ice cream and see all the smokey condensation that is made when they freeze the cream to make our desserts. I had the Nutella Ice Cream and it was really, really creamy! I thoroughly enjoyed the consistency and the flavor was quite good too. Would you like to pay $6 to watch your ice cream being made with liquid nitrogen? If you answered yes, then come to Creamistry. The ice cream here is pretty good, but not great. I don't indulge in ice cream that often. To give you a frame of reference, I enjoyed Hans' Homemade Ice Cream more than Creamistry. You select from four bases: signature premium, organic, sorbet, or nitro Dole. I went with the small size signature premium vanilla bean. The vanilla bean ice cream was thick, creamy, and good. I didn't add any toppings. Mix-ins, toppings, fruits, and syrups are $1 each additional--things can get out of hand if you get trigger happy! Essentially you are coming here for the novelty act. Watching the liquid nitrogen fog and cool the ice cream is pretty much all there is to it. My wife and I got two small ice creams (she got one add on) and our total was $13.08--not worth it IMO. The concept is fairly unique to the area with the liquid nitrogen gimmick. The ice cream itself is velvety smooth and of good quality. I loved the matcha flavor and the pistachio was okay. The strawberry and vanilla w/chocolate chips weren't very memorable. In regards to flavor, I'd say tastiness is all case-by-case, flavor-by-flavor, and in the eye or taste buds of the beholder. So, choose wisely! The wait, pricing, portion sizes, & calorie count make this a "once in a while" ice cream lab to visit. I got thai tea with the coconut ice cream base and added kit kats. That's probably where I messed up. My friend got the mango with sorbet base and strawberry pieces mixed in and it was better compared to mine. I guess I like places that have premade or already tested and tried ice cream combinations so that I don't have to think so hard about what I'm going to get, and then totally fail at it. Creamisty is a prime example of a gimicky ice cream parlor that leaves a lot to be desired (too much sometimes isn't always a good thing). I agree with everyone else that the ice cream is over priced. At the very least, they should include one or two add-on's with the steep price. I brought my nephews here and the nitrogen process of ice cream making is actually pretty neat. Their eyes lit up when they saw the fog seep out from under the glass. They however got bored of it very quickly. Regardless, it's still definitely a cool place to bring little ones. While I was here we saw a bunch of liquid fly over the glass from the machines and land on little kids, one of the customers promptly complained about it, but nothing really happened (it might be of a concern if you have kids that may be sensitive to allergens, since nut ice creams are mixed). We decided to share a black sesame and for some reason, all three of us felt a little nauseated after eating it. I, myself, have a strong affinity for food. I eat everything and rarely get sick. I can't prove it was from the ice cream, but it is a fair warning that the consistency probably isn't the best. I've worked with ice cream before, and when making it, if the recipe isn't followed exactly and the processes are off, plenty can go wrong taste and texture wise. I was pretty excited for Creamistry but I don't think I will be returning. Creamistry is a cool place: no doubt about that. The whole nitrogen liquid is such a craze nowadays so I had no regrets visiting creamistry a couple of nights ago. The whole ice cream making process is such a visual treat and hey, don't tell me you never played with dry ice and found the whole smoke oozing out to be such a treat. This alone makes Creamistry such an Instagram worthy place. So yeah, it's cool but I feel that the variety of toppings and flavors overwhelmed me. Is it something I should use against this place? The tartness and acidity of the strawberries and banana were great complements to the sweet ice cream and nutella. You also have the option of adding whipped cream without any additional charge. I went with the premium base, but I can see why people opt for organic (aside for being healthier, it's lighter and smoother). This was something the Captain's Breakfast was not. Service: They are patient especially when you are indecisive on your order. Moreover, once your order is placed, they work on it right away! Unfortunately, once I sat down to wait, I looked at the menu again and realized they had one of my favorites (Amaretto). I asked if they could substitute the captain crunch ice cream with amaretto, but 1)the ice cream was already being made 2)no substitutions for the creations. Price: Although it comes at a hefty price tag of $7.58 (tax already included), the creations indeed save you money compared to the single scoops.
