This spot is a little difficult to find but recommended by a local. It wasn't busy when we arrived at 9am on a Sunday. When leaving it did pick up. They have a great variety of breakfast options. You can sit indoor or on their patio which is well heated with standing heaters or above head heaters. We had the Alaska Benedict and seafood omelet. This cafe yearns to be like the diners of the past but lacks the flavor. I rarely write reviews but wanted to warn other people passing through town. The bacon literally had no flavor and same with the gravy and biscuits. There is nothing worse than paying $16 for something you could have made yourself but yours would taste better. We spend a lot of time in Cambria, but in the future I won't include the Creekside Cafe. On a recent morning I ordered a short stack of pancakes and when they arrived they were tough, overcooked and smelled and tasted burnt. When I pointed this out to our waitress, she remarked that they didn't look burnt. She then turned and walked away, leaving the uneaten (except for one bite) pancakes on the table. No offer to provide unburnt pancakes, no apology and when we received the check she had charged me for the meal. I paid and left a minimal tip (at my sweet wife's insistence), but it was the singular poor dining experience that I've had in Cambria. read more

This is my favorite breakfast spot in all of Cambria. I visit often because my mom has a home here and I've tried most of the cafes and restaurants. This is one of the best. The service is great and the food is delicious. I personally love the Mexican pizza and stuffed apricot French toast. It's the best French toast I've ever had and they use local jam that is divine. Creekside Garden Cafe is a nice little restaurant with charming outdoor seating. The patio is dog friendly which is a big bonus for us, as we never travel without our furry companion. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Your coffee cup will never be empty. I cannot speak for their food outside of breakfast options. However, if you enjoy a sweet breakfast over a savory one, the apricot French toast is a 10 out of 10. It's SO good, it should be illegal. Get it! As far as savory options go, I have to admit the food lacks a bit of seasoning. It's not bad food -- just a little on the bland side. Easy to fix with the salt and pepper on the table. In my opinion, it's better to be under seasoned than over seasoned anyway. To me, the overall experiences that I've had at Creekside over rules the fact that the country potatoes needed a little salt. read more

If you're looking for a classic breakfast with eggs, pancakes, and the works in a cute restaudant with a nice patio area this is the place to go! I got the garden scramble and loved that they do not skimp on the veggies. I subbed the toast or bread for choice of pancakes and I highly recommend doing that. The blueberry pancakes!!! That's it, three exclamation points for it because they're so good. And the syrup I think has blueberry in it too and it makes it even better. Breakfast is breakfast, but at Creekside Gardens, you can have breakfast on their patio next to the fountain that makes you feel like you're sitting creekside. A thousand stars for the ambiance. My friend and I ordered the following: -Monterey scramble ($12.50): eggs scrambled with green chilies, bacon bits, topped with Jack cheese + avocado. It comes with toast and country style potatoes -Country brown ($12.50): country style potatoes with diced ham, green onions and cheddar cheese topped with one egg + sour cream While the dishes were your run of the mill breakfast fare, they were solid in execution. Great service, great food! We arrived minutes before the big breakfast rush, and got a table for 4 immediately. It was about 10am on a Sunday. We dined inside and felt spaced out and safe. The views outside, at the garden tables looked pretty though, so I'd reco to sit outside, if you can. All staff was super friendly and had great suggestions. A nice spot for a good breakfast. The name has "creekside" in it; but there was no creek visible from the patio. Still, the garden patio is comfortable, spacious, with views of large trees, and plenty of shade. I had the Linguisa Omelet ($13.95) which was very good. Three eggs and lots of linguisa pieces. It was a lot to eat, but it was so tasty, I ate it all (perhaps later realizing that it really was too much to eat in one sitting!). It's fantastic that they had linguisa, which I love but it is hard to find. My wife had the Abelskivers ($13.95). They were tasty, but not up to the taste of the ones you can get in Solvang. (But then again, we weren't in Solvang!). The service could use some improvement. My wife had to wait a long time for coffee. read more

Typing this review as I sit at the table drinking a mimosa which is probably the only good thing on the menu here. I asked if their corned beef hash was out of a can (nasty) or made in house and he advised it's in house, "not out of a can." When my plate arrived it was cold, canned slop with eggs that had egg shells on them. The country potatoes are slimy and look like they are made from frozen. I managed to take 1 bite of each item (including their biscuit and gravy which tastes like it's out of a pouch of powder concentrate. Everything on my plate was Luke warm at best, so I sent it back. I was told that I would still be charged even though 95% of the plate was remaining and the server misinformed me about their corned beef hash because "we don't waste food." I can count on one hand how many times I've actually had to send a plate back. 10/10 will not be returning. Will update this review if I end up with GI issues after eating here. read more

Hands down the VERY BEST breakfast potatoes I have had in a LONG while. Corned beef hash was delicious and just like I prefer... not homemade, eggs were runny as I ordered so I was a happy camper. Though we didn't have homemade jam which I was surprised as we were in Cambria and fresh preserves seem to feel like an automatic LOL Service was fine, coffee was good. I have found that since COVID servers seemed to really be more appreciative. Coming from the hospitality myself I try and leave a bit more as I understand these are hard times for many. It's been a while since I've done a review for CG, although it's the one place we gravitate to on 100% of our visits to Cambria. They have a doggie friendly patio there, with lots of tables, umbrellas and pretty plants. They have heaters on the patio, too, so it's comfortable year round. The hubby likes their California omelette and usually opts for that. Avocado, onion, tomatoes, Jack cheese. And of course, their homemade salsa. The other day, the hubby tried something new, the abelskivers. They were bigger than what you usually see. Very tasty. A couple visits ago, I discovered the French dip sandwich, so I've had that the last two times. Tender roast beef, caramelized onions, melty cheese and a delicious au jus. Both times I ordered the fries with my sandwich, but only ate a few. They look good, they're super skinny fries. But they're like the battered kind and just not that good. Service is attentive. Creekside Gardens has quickly become my favorite breakfast place on this occasions I visit Cambria. The staff are always friendly and the ambiance is so peaceful. On the occasion I went there with some friends, we were actually seated near a little water feature and truly did feel like we were in a garden. I had the applesauce pancakes, which were of a nice light texture and served with sliced apples and spiced applesauce as the 'syrup.' It was so seasonal abs delicious. One person in our group ordered the Ebelskivers, since these hail from her heritage (and she's able to make these at home). She said the texture was a bit different than what she's used to, but thought the flavor was good. She thought her bacon was too crispy for her and prefers more a more tender texture. The other person in our group ordered Eggs Benedict, which she did enjoy (but found the eggs a little over cooked and not of the more liquid consistency that is typical for a poached egg).. However, she did enjoy the flavor of the dish. We're it not for those few little issues, I would've given 5 stars for sure. Not big enough issues to keep me from coming back. read more

First impressions: a damn shit show! Be prepared for servers not knowing who's seating who. Be prepared for preferential treatment period! Came here for some breakfast for my bday celebration. A Saturday afternoon for brunch. There was one family of 4 in front of us, and we got our names on the list: party of two. We were about to get seated, the waitress called our name and followed her the the back patio when we turned away because another waiter said it's taken, but nobody was sitting. We went back to the waiting area, we finally got seated about 10 min after the first attempt. We were seated and we be began to look at the menu. We waited to place our drink order-water and coffee...and we waited! We continued to wait until we saw another couple (elderly white couple) get seated and the waiter asked then what drinks they can get started with. As the waiter began to walk past us, I looked at waiter and asked if he didn't mind taking ours since we were waiting as well. We then ordered our food, it was delivered in a timely manner. Shout out then cook who did a great job with the food. The pancakes were delicious and the corn beef hash was delicious. But as for customer service from the waiters and staff, it's definitely a piece of crap. I'm actually surprised they have Latin people working here who caters to a certain type of population better than others. Maybe it wasn't a race thing for the employees, and willing to give the benefit of doubt. But it sure comes off that way when I sit and wait to get served well after "everybody" else and I literally had to ask for everything. I suspect Locals like this place but, as a Tourist who visits Cambria once or twice a year, I do not recommend it for other tourists. This morning, the Front Desk person at our 'hotel,' recommended both Hidden Kitchen and Creekside Gardens for breakfast once she learned that we go out to eat; we don't partake of the free (barely) breakfast the 'hotel' offers. We arrived at the Hidden Kitchen at 8:40 only to find that they don't open until 9:00, so we walked to nearby Creekside Gardens. When we reached the old rickety stairs with the rusted handrail, my husband knew that he and his cane couldn't navigate those stairs. I went in to get us a table; he moved the car. I stood and stood and stood in the 'entry' but no one greeted me. I finally walked to the kitchen and stuck my head in. A waitress immediately took notice. "Should I seat myself or did I perhaps come in thru the wrong door?" She told me to "Sit anywhere you want." There were two two-tops left and one table for four. We're on a week-long road trip, so I took the table for four. That gave my husband an unused chairback from which to hang his cane; it gave me room for my denim jacket, over-sized purse and tote bag in which I had a 28-day pill case, our itinerary, maps, etc. Before my husband and I could order, three Locals came in to the restaurant. No, they did not want to sit out back even though there were plenty of empty tables and space heaters. The waitress came to us and asked if we'd be willing to move to a two-top so that the party of three could have our table. I looked at the two empty two-tops, thinking "Push them together." There was plenty of space in the middle of the room to do so. She didn't pick up on that. I said, "I don't know where we'd put all of our stuff." I looked at my husband and said, "Why don't we just go to Linn's?" He said, "No, we're here." So the group of three continued to stand in the very small entry, blocking it. A single man finished his breakfast, paid and left. He had been at a two-top. At that time, the wait staff finally pushed his table together with one of the empty two-tops. Why they hadn't done that earlier with the two empty two-tops, I have no idea. When you tell a guest "Sit anywhere you want," you don't get backsies. We have been coming to Cambria once or twice a year for nearly 30 years. We always have a breakfast or two at Linn's; I can't recommend it highly enough for food, service and atmosphere. In the past, we'd have one Mexican breakfast at Cambria Cafe but that is now under new management and is Mediterranean. I don't know if they are open for breakfast, but I don't want Mediterranean for breakfast. We will usually drive either north to The Cavalier or south to Dorn's for one breakfast. And, of course, there is the French Bakery. No reason for us to ever come here again. It's not easy access for those with mobility issues and, in 66 years, this is the first time I have ever been asked to give up my table. Under other circumstances, I might have done so, but there were two two-tops that could easily have been pushed together to accommodate the threesome. The food was okay but nothing special, although the menu was fairly extensive. Breakfast for two was $31 which is hardly a bargain; very typical prices for a sit-down breakfast. I photographed the receipt so that you can see the prices for yourself. I won't be back. We wont' be back. If you're going to visit Cambria, do yourself a favor and have breakfast at Linn's. You will not be disappointed. read more
