Very quaint place! Inside and outside seating and a very nice menu. Convenient parking , friendly servers.

I suspect Locals like this place but, as a Tourist who visits Cambria once or twice a year, I do not recommend it for other tourists. This morning, the Front Desk person at our 'hotel,' recommended both Hidden Kitchen and Creekside Gardens for breakfast once she learned that we go out to eat; we don't partake of the free (barely) breakfast the 'hotel' offers. We arrived at the Hidden Kitchen at 8:40 only to find that they don't open until 9:00, so we walked to nearby Creekside Gardens. When we reached the old rickety stairs with the rusted handrail, my husband knew that he and his cane couldn't navigate those stairs. I went in to get us a table; he moved the car. I stood and stood and stood in the 'entry' but no one greeted me. I finally walked to the kitchen and stuck my head in. A waitress immediately took notice. "Should I seat myself or did I perhaps come in thru the wrong door?" She told me to "Sit anywhere you want." There were two two-tops left and one table for four. We're on a week-long road trip, so I took the table for four. That gave my husband an unused chairback from which to hang his cane; it gave me room for my denim jacket, over-sized purse and tote bag in which I had a 28-day pill case, our itinerary, maps, etc. Before my husband and I could order, three Locals came in to the restaurant. No, they did not want to sit out back even though there were plenty of empty tables and space heaters. The waitress came to us and asked if we'd be willing to move to a two-top so that the party of three could have our table. I looked at the two empty two-tops, thinking "Push them together." There was plenty of space in the middle of the room to do so. She didn't pick up on that. I said, "I don't know where we'd put all of our stuff." I looked at my husband and said, "Why don't we just go to Linn's?" He said, "No, we're here." So the group of three continued to stand in the very small entry, blocking it. A single man finished his breakfast, paid and left. He had been at a two-top. At that time, the wait staff finally pushed his table together with one of the empty two-tops. Why they hadn't done that earlier with the two empty two-tops, I have no idea. When you tell a guest "Sit anywhere you want," you don't get backsies. We have been coming to Cambria once or twice a year for nearly 30 years. We always have a breakfast or two at Linn's; I can't recommend it highly enough for food, service and atmosphere. In the past, we'd have one Mexican breakfast at Cambria Cafe but that is now under new management and is Mediterranean. I don't know if they are open for breakfast, but I don't want Mediterranean for breakfast. We will usually drive either north to The Cavalier or south to Dorn's for one breakfast. And, of course, there is the French Bakery. No reason for us to ever come here again. It's not easy access for those with mobility issues and, in 66 years, this is the first time I have ever been asked to give up my table. Under other circumstances, I might have done so, but there were two two-tops that could easily have been pushed together to accommodate the threesome. The food was okay but nothing special, although the menu was fairly extensive. Breakfast for two was $31 which is hardly a bargain; very typical prices for a sit-down breakfast. I photographed the receipt so that you can see the prices for yourself. I won't be back. We wont' be back. If you're going to visit Cambria, do yourself a favor and have breakfast at Linn's. You will not be disappointed. read more

This place was delicious!! Not too bad of a wait on a Saturday but totally worth every minute. The apricot French toast was so good. Bacon was good and cooked well. Got pancakes on the side of an omelette and they were some of the best pancakes I've ever had with a nice slight griddle crisp to them. Huevos rancheros was also good. Champagne was very good for mimosa champagne. Definitely will hit this place when we come back! read more

We came here for breakfast. It's a small cute little cafe with a really nice outdoor seating area. The French toast was delicious and the staff are extremely friendly. My only complaint would be the slow pace however I'm a fast paced person (city girl) and I do recognize that this is a slower paced town so I get it. Decent food, AWFUL service. Never got the beers we ordered, so we cancelled them once our food came. I then had to ask for a water refill which didn't come until my food was finished, server was nowhere to be found. I am in the service industry so I am very understanding when it comes to servers jobs. But it wasn't busy, and we had a very simple order. Unfortunately, we had bad service here. The waitress probably forgot to put our order in because people who got there 15-20 minutes after us finished their food before we even got ours. I'm an understanding person so if the waitress had just come up to us and apologized and offered a free something or other, I would've been fine. But I had to flag her down and ask where our food was after witnessing everyone else get theirs before us. She never acknowledged that she messed up or apologized for the long wait. It was very odd why we were the only customers she was neglecting. Then by the end, she completely disappeared and the other waiter brought our bill and cleared our plates. He was great and we wished we had him as our server the whole time because he seemed super on top of it. But it just shouldn't take 30+ minutes for eggs... My husband ordered a scramble and the portion size for the scramble was not impressive. We laughed when we saw his plate and said, "we waited 30 minutes for that!?" We left very annoyed that the service was so horrible for us. I get that everyone has bad days, but we were the only guests who were totally ignored. Very odd. read more

Quaint restaurant in downtown Cambria with a very nice outdoor patio. It is on the Main Street, but in a shopping center so you have to be on the look out for it. We had Sunday brunch there and all enjoyed our meal. The Apricot Stuffed French toast was a big hit with our family - 3 out of the 4 of us ordered it. My wife and I made a visit to Hearst Castle and planned breakfast stop here. It's typically a hole in a wall that we usually like. Our waitress was very nice and very attentive. The set back and issue was that the pricing for the food. We got only one toast, restaurants usually service two slices. One cup of mediocre tasteless coffee at $3.95 a cup. One side order of burned bacon at $7.00., regular 3 pancakes $12.00, the omelette was less to be desired, believe me I don't mind paying for service and whatever the pricing would be. However since it's a tourist hub all around the area, not worth this stop. Sadly to say you'll probably enjoy Denny's more food for your buck. read more

Great place for breakfast! The back patio is the place to be. They have multiple electric heat lamps and propane patio heaters to keep you comfortable on a chilly morning. A nice water fountain and greenery gives it a serene feel. The pancakes were delicious and I am particular about pancakes. The Ranch Hand Pancake breakfast was really good and so was the price. I don't leave reviews much but I felt like I needed to after my 3rd recent visit to this amazing little spot in Cambria. The food and atmosphere is near perfection. The service and quality of food just blows my mind. The back patio is a beautiful place to enjoy a perfect breakfast or lunch. This is by far the greatest breakfast cafe that I have ever been to. The outdoor atmosphere is pretty good but the food is not that great. I ordered the *Alaskan Benedict which advertised as having shrimp and "crab" for $25.00. At that price I expected real crab and instead I get imitation crab. Also the potatoes are boiled and not crispy. The eggs where very under cooked including the whites. Usually for Benedict just the yellow part should be runny not the white part. Probably the only good thing was the salsa. read more

This restaurant is tucked away in the back corner of a little (but cute!) center along Main Street. I was visiting and wanted to get breakfast before riding out on my motorcycle, and this place--excellent. I ordered the "John's Special" both times, as it was a small but rounded enough breakfast before a 5 hour ride, and asked for sausage instead of bacon--which they happily substituted. (Not sure if it cost extra, wasn't worried--I was on vacation. I just wanted to have a good time.) The food was perfect, the employees/staff were amazingly friendly and attentive when I needed them, and of course: this place made my Cambria mornings even better. Thanks y'all! This breakfast spot has a lovely little patio in back complete with a fountain which I always enjoy. Lots of space. Some space heaters which was good because I definitely wish I had worn pants. Friendly, fast servers. My huevos rancheros were unfortunately pretty mediocre. I just had some amazing huevos down in Los Angeles so I guess the bar had been set pretty high. Coffee was in a huge cup and the menu is extensive. Check it out but perhaps aim for a different menu item. read more

Ate here on our last morning in Cambria. The wait was not too long and the patio area was nice and relaxing. They have some unique menu options, like the Applesauce Pancakes that I enjoyed, but the normal food, like omelettes, potatoes and eggs, etc, are pretty standard and a little pricey for what you're getting. My daughter loved her biscuits and gravy, and I agreed after I snuck a few bites, that they were pretty good! A nice place to eat overall! read more

My friend + I were visiting Cambria for a quick getaway we live in LA so we weren't sure what to expect after reading Kathryn B's bad review. Let me just tell you, Kathryn B. was having a bad day and went on a rude tangent because she's use to pot pies. Let me tell you, this cafe is super cute with a patio that has heaters on those cold windy days. The service was great and the food was good. We ordered blueberry and apple sauce pancakes with hot chocolates and everything was delicious. We're true foodies and are a bit particular but this exceeded our expectations. Just to note - they do charge $2 to split orders and that would be my only thing that I'd change. Enjoy ! read more

My husband and I enjoy traveling to Cambria often, and this is our choice for breakfast every single time: him, the chili omelet and me the apricot French toast. They are so delicious, served with good hot coffee, and always great service. We have tried all the other restaurants in Cambria for breakfast in the past and this is truly the best. Okay this place is GOOD. It was one of the only dog-friendly brunch options in Cambria so I wasn't sure if it would actually be good and it really was. My husband and our puppy went on a Sunday morning and it looked pretty busy but we only waited for a table for about 10-15 minutes. They serve breakfast all day and have a special brunch menu. Most of the staff spoke English and Spanish and took good care of us. The food was delicious. I had the Eggs Sonora off the breakfast menu and my husband had the Monterey Scramble, then we shared some blueberry pancakes which come with blueberry syrup. The orange juice was fresh-squeezed! My mom and I met a friend here recently for breakfast while we were in town visiting Cambria. The inside space is small so we ended up on the outside patio. They do have heaters so that made it okay. You do get quite a chill though sitting outside in the winter. But overall it was fine. I had the COUNTRY BROWNS - Large order of country style potatoes with diced ham, green onions & Cheddar Cheese. Topped with one egg (I held the egg),salsa & sour cream. This was really tasty. A big portion, loved all of it. Lots of toppings. Mom had poached eggs with toast. She really liked this but they did not butter her toast. And she is a butter lover. But it was good none the less. Our friend had some sort of egg dish that she enjoyed. A nice friendly local spot. Get there early if you want to be inside. Or bring a coat and blanket for outside under the heaters. read more

We ate here in a larger group and the service was a bit slower as a result but other than that, the food was very FLAVORFUL and so tasty. I had the real fast burrito and although it didn't have protein in it, I found it to be one of the better bfast burritos I've had! My husband got a Parker scramble and I had some of his and found to be very tasty and full of flavor! The ambiance was really quaint and felt quite tropical and laid back. Creekside Gardens Cafe was a hidden gem, as my wife wanted to try a different breakfast spot. What a surprise, what with the wide variety of items on the menu. We opted for French Toast Scramble and the Ranch Hand breakfast and black coffee all served in the patio al fresco. Ramona was very attentive, offering coffee refills 3 times. We returned the following morning for more. The owner was a very gracious, pleasant gentleman who went from dishwasher to owner. His story was inspiring. Hands down the best breakfast spot in Cambria. Staff is efficient and helpful. Food is hot, plentiful and although pretty much standard breakfast fare, they prepare it well. Pancakes are fluffy and so good. Plus the Fiscalini preserve is down the road a bit so you can enjoy that after breakfast! Skip the ice tea. Recommend for breakfast. read more

While in Cambria last night we had the best meal in well over a year at the Black Cat Bistro. I figured this town had a higher standard so we made the trip out here the following morning for breakfast. Nice little place with a garden environment that was pleasant and just a bit cold. Lots of seating with heaters but not ours. After we were settled we ordered our coffee and shortly after that ordered breakfast. We were having fun for a while then we realized people around us we're being seated and getting food within minutes and we were getting hungry. After 30 minutes we saw people leaving and the people that replaced them were getting food. So we asked our server about our food with a note of frustration pointing out how long we waited. She did not apologize but blamed the kitchen for the delay. She also said she could go in and cancel the order if we wanted to leave. At this time it was clear she forgot to place our order. 45 minutes into our visit the fruit cups came out followed shortly by the rest of our dishes. The fruit was good and most of the food was pretty good except the John's special, basted eggs were cooked to death! I would have complained but these people had enough of me and we were late for a tasting appointment so I'm hoping for a good lunch. I don't like giving poor reviews but this is the worst eatery we experienced during our yearly trip and something like this can ruin your day so people need to know! I think they would have gotten a star back if they made any attempt to reconsile. This is also the first time in my life I picked up my tip and left nothing. read more
