Been here twice in the last month. Omg! The crispy Brussels Sprouts are a must!!!!!! Our party of 3 had the pork chop, lamb and gnocchi. All were amazing. Especially the pork chop. The 2nd time we had the meatball calzone and of course the Brussels Sprouts which were as good as we remembered. The calzone was delicious and a must have here. The 2nd time we went it was storming it but we were well protected and the heaters outside pack a heat punch. You've got to go here! read more

Sometimes a well reviewed Yelp restaurant does not live up to the hype. Creekwood exceeded the hype and then some. We started with a medley of appetizers including a pizza, meatballs, squid, tomatoes, and a salad. Mind you we had two guys from Jersey with us, dubious of the whole farm to table Italian cuisine theme. Aside from a FALSE comment by them that NJ tomatoes are better than California tomatoes, the apps were consumed within minutes, and the two NJ wiseguys wanted a second order of meatballs. Btw...corkage fee of $18 is pretty reasonable. For entrees we had pasta dishes and ribeyes, all prepared to specification and tasty. Dessert was an almond cake and an affagato. All in all a fine dining experience. We will back...likely without the Garden State contingent. Solid service too. And a comfortable decor. read more

Lovely little neighborhood place with delicious food, great service, and a friendly staff. I've been here twice in the last month and expect I'll be eating there again soon. This restaurant is amazing!! I love the atmosphere, and the servers and the chefs. I sat at the counter so I was able to watch and interact with the kitchen. It was quieter than sitting at a table. Solid food, nice set up with friendly service and great neighborhood vibe. Pasta - don't miss the Rigatoni .. I eyed the lamb dish at our neighboring table and it's a must on our next visit. Speck pizza was done perfectly and our starter persimmon chicory salad was excellent! Good selection of wine and beer to add to a well balanced unfussy dining experience. The details were on point too such as the awesome Acme bread with salted butter as well as all the details of the newly constructed space which is hip and cozy. Great beers on tap. Great addition to the neighborhood! We have been hoping for more restaurants in South Berkeley, and this one is hits the spot. Delicious food, very friendly service. We enjoyed hearing from Greg (one of the owners) about the little touches in the interior design, as well as the special items on the menu. Rigatoni was excellent. Cozy, clean aesthetic, perfect for all ocassions. I also really appreciated how welcoming everyone was. Can't wait for the weather to warm up for a little al fresco dining out front. We went for dinner with a group on Saturday night - still packed at 8:30! We were family, so ate family-style and shared a lot of dishes - here are my thoughts on each one: Starters: Gnudi - outstanding, delicious, and indescribable - so light, made with silky ricotta slightly crunchy on the outside. Get this any time you go! Grilled squid - delicious, tender, nicely season and dressed - would have liked a few more squid pieces (note - the plate came to me nearly last - did my family cherry pick the squid??) ;-) Meatballs - a very flavorful meat combination, slightly spicy, in a very tasty tomato sauce - one of the crowd's favorites. Secundo: Speck pizza - white pizza, thin crust, excellent ingredients Mushroom pizza - not sure this is right, but the red sauce was very garlicky, delicious (I say that a lot here) Gnocchi - very light, in a tasty sauce with mushrooms - good, but I thought a bit lacking in flavor Rigatoni - maybe the hit of the night. Sauce is "ragu", but I felt it was closer to sugo. Excellent meaty flavor, just the right amount of sauce. Mains: Rib eye steak - generous cut on-the-bone, perfectly cooked, with twice-baked potato and sauteed beet greens, which I love. Worth the trip for this dish alone. Lamb shank - very good execution of the traditional dish. Tender, flavorful, another crowd favorite Chicory salad - another crowd favorite. Came with tangerine slices and pomegranite seeds in a light vinaigrette. Desserts - the group was happy, but I did not indulge so no review. Wine list - well chosen and moderately priced. Not a broad list, but quite adequate and complemented the food nicely. All in all a very satisfying experience. I'll be back! read more

Delicious poached eggs, scrambled eggs w wild mushrooms/spinach/goat cheese, greens with a simple & bright lemony oil dressing (a bit unsure of the perfect ingredients), perfect bacon, crispy/fresh hashed browns, grilled bakery toast, great vanilla latte, coffee, and warm cinnamon-sugar and honey biscuit beignets. We rolled out of there with such happy bellies but sad brunch was over. read more

A-OK is exactly what this place is. We went early on a Saturday night (around 5, 5:30). Although most tables were open they seemed a bit taken aback that we didn't have a reservation, and half heartedly offered us the chef's counter or a table to the side. It came off as pretty pretentious (they had tables that remained open during our entire time there) but fine, this place thinks they're hotshots, whatever. The chef's counter wasn't very well planned - it's difficult to see over if they are doing something right in front of you, but if they are working on the other side it's a cool view. The chef working in front of us greeted us, and we enjoyed watching the action. The food did not blow our minds, but it was fine. The portions were a bit smaller than we expected - it's a bit overpriced. It's a fine place, but I don't see any reason to return. read more

Creekwood is a must go place and worth the drive! It was an easy 5 star to give. It start with the hostess (and the owner) greeting you and it is obvious from first meeting with them until the end of your meal that they really care about your experience. I had a talk with the owner before leaving and you can see why his place is so excellent, he obviously is very thorough in his hires and in the execution! The food is awesome. The pizza, the pasta and the rib eye are really must orders (and I rarely order steak!). The service is the best (as good as Gary Danko which is the best I had ever seen before this). Our server was amazing, very helpful with the recommendations and answering all questions, very friendly and very efficient. And the busser was also great, his attitude was exceptional. What a great experience! Very attentive, friendly spot on service and great food. This new restaurant has all the makings of a neighborhood favorite and a place to drive to for a warm, delicious dining experience. To start we had a margherita pizza that was really as good as any I've had in Italy- thin crust with just the right amount of fresh tomato sauce mozzarella and basil and a "gnuti" (naked ravioli) that was so yummy. For dinner the three of us each had different pastas that were all perfectly cooked with just the right sauce flavors. For dessert- oh my- the kind of gelato that you would have to go to Rome for... I went to thIs restaurant tonight and had the worse pasta dish I've ever had. The pappardelle came in a glutinous lump, no flavor, truly grossed me out. My partner ordered a pizza, tasted okay, except half of the top surface was scorched black, highly unpleasant. Not sure what happened with this place - we liked it a lot last time going there (about a year ago). The quality was gone this time, embarrassing for a place that charges the kind of prices they do. I would have given a one star if not for the owner apologizing for their mistakes. The waitress was nice and professional which made things better. But overall, we are not planning on coming back anymore. read more

Yo so I got the salad, gnocchi, farro on the side, and carrot cake. Good selections for vegetarians. It's all super fresh and you can taste each individual ingredient. Man I wish I could get more food for that gnocchi. I love mushrooms. What I ordered did not scream something wicked divine, but then again I didn't get the pizza. I was sitting at the bar and saw it being made right in front of me so I totally regretted not getting some pie. All in all, a great opening. Hope to get the pizza next time. Just had some of the best takeout in the 5 months of the shelter-in-place; New York Steak and Fries and a Little Gems salad, from Creekwood. Only those two dishes with plenty for my partner and me, with some left over. The steak was amazing. I like steak rare, which seems impossible for take out--but however they cooked this steak it had all the flavor of rare, though I suspect it would satisfy a medium steak lover as well. The fries were still crisp and tasty and came with a yummy aioli sauce for dipping. The little gems salad was a great combination of tastes, and included a six-minute egg, split in half, and a couple crispy slices of pancetta. The meal was not expensive, but tasted like it was--treat yourself! read more

I called last minute for Mother's Day weekend and ended up getting the "small table by the bar." Now, for a party of four I was a little bit nervous but grateful that they could squeeze us in. Let me tell you, this table its THE BEST table in the house. It's small, but you get a whole bench and you're away from the bustle of the main dining room. Needless to say, everything worked out great. We began with the Gnudi, Meatballs, and Squid and all were gone within seconds of them being placed on the table. We got 2 pizzas, the Speck and the Nduja (both excellent however we decided next time to get a pizza course instead of it as a individual entree). We also got the Ribeye and the Cameroni and WOW, GET THE CAMERONI. I'm obsessed. The carrot cake, flourless chocolate cake, and the adffogato, all amazing. Their wine selection? Flawless! We got the Le Grive and it paired so well with everything that we got that we took a picture of the label for later. I came here because there was a lot of neighborhood hoopla about it and it is officially my new dinner spot. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. Yes, the management is still figuring a few things out logistically however they are doing an amazing job and I will be back! I'm excited to see them grow and hopefully add a brunch menu one day (*nudge nudge*). Thank you for making my mom's Mother's Day special and for serving us at such a fun little table! read more
