Crema is an excellent addition to the neighborhood. I've been frequenting them at least one morning a week since they opened as a quiet place to get some work done. Their coffee is delicious, their toasts are simple but with really great ingredients that set them apart, and the ice cream? Don't even get me started. The cheese danishes are left unbaked semi-raw inside where the cheese and the dough meet. It is clearly not correctly baked, some amateur consistent issue baking this item. Next, the plain croissants are sometimes close to the so called "real" deal and sometimes basically bread in the shape of a croissant. The almond croissants frequently are stale plain croissants recooked in oil, then cut in half and filled with the almond paste. Upon walking in this was an adorable little cafe. The children's play area was such a sweet touch and made for a great first impression! The menu was unique and fresh. Everything was clean and the service friendly. We ordered toast, an empanada, and an açaí bowl. This is where they lost two stars. We waited over 30 min for our food. They only had one girl working but it was still unacceptable. I would have been fine with it if they gave us a heads up but we had no indication. Seems to be a popular spot for parents to stop and grab coffee with their kids, as there is a small play area available. Got pretty loud so I wouldn't recommend planning to bring work on the weekends, unless you came early. Really enjoyed my cold brew and blueberry muffin, but I'm also intrigued by their coconut milk ice cream displayed prominently by the register. I love Crema so much!! I am so lucky to live right down the street from such a great business! Crema is a quality, family-owned local coffee shop that takes the quality of their food & coffee seriously. They offer all of the traditional coffee/espresso based drinks - they are delicious & they always have non-dairy milk, which isn't easy to come by everywhere. I usually get lattes with oat milk and I'm never let down! They also serve a lot of toast dishes that are unbelievably good (the bread they use is so good wow!). My favorites are the mozzarella toast, the vegan toast, and the eggs benedict toast (they only serve eggs benny on weekends for brunch). In addition, their ice cream is on point and they offer a great selection of vegan ice cream and grass-fed (non vegan) ice cream. The store itself is bright and uplifting & very family friendly. As far as I'm concerned, the best Açaí bowl in jersey city and one of, if not the best, espressos in the city. Ice cream (several flavors) are also top shelf, song with the prepared toasts. One of my favorite cafes! I have been eating here for over a year now and every time I have enjoyed it. They never miss instructions and the food is so delicious! Awesome to see another bright spot popping up in our neighborhood! The owner seems to be have a real heart in for business and he seems very honest and passionate for what he does. Every details of the store seems very well thought of and the goods behind the counter looks absolutely delicious and homemade. He was whipping up some brisket in a slow cooker behind the counter when I grabbed my coffee this morning. He explained that this was a locally roasted coffee in JC in which I never knew that this city had its own roastery! And after taking few sips, I can honestly say that this was one of the best coffee that I've tasted in East Coast. This mom and pop shop is simply amazing! The atmosphere is super chill and you know they use quality products in all of their menu items. We got a cortado, hot chocolate, salmon toast, and a Nutella toast and after all that the bill was still below $20! So reasonably priced. They use actual espresso beans and a machine and the drinks are wayyyyyy better quality and cheaper than generic Dunkin donuts or Starbucks. You have to get any toast there because the bread is AMAZING. You know that awkward moment when you order a toast and the bread is super tough and chewy and one bite ends up ripping apart your whole toast and mutilating the roof of your mouth? Not this bread! Makes it super so easy and enjoyable to eat bite sized portions with perfect amount of crunch in the toast. I would recommend the salmon toast. Of all the cafes in Jersey City, Crema has to be my absolute favorite. The owner is the sweetest woman in the world! I hadn't been able to stop by in about 2 months and she still remembered me and my dog! When I got there, I tied him up outside and went in to order. When she saw me, she asked where he was and insisted I bring him in since it was so cold out and then set up a table outside for me to sit with him (he didn't go #2 yet so I didn't want him to have an accident inside since she has a cute children's area with artificial grass). ALL of the toasts are delicious and her prices are amazing compared to other cafe's. What truly makes her toasts the best is the bread. You have to try it to know what I mean!! I always get the avocado toast and another one to split with my boyfriend. The atmosphere is adorable, and the best part is it's only about 4 blocks away from me!
