I have rented from Cresco a few times but this time found out what a quality place with quality people it is. I rented equipment to remove some dirt from my back yard and all was fine until we tipped the equipment. I left an after hours message and they called the next morning to find a solution. Since it was a holiday weekend they did not have the necessary mechanic till Tuesday but came over and used another piece of equipment to put it upright and left the other piece to allow us to finish our job. It was stressful to deal with but they made it all seem like there were no worries. We will use them again. read more

Only used this place a couple of times to rent air compressors. There are a couple of places closer to me but they will always be my preferred choice next time I need light plant. The customer service is excellent, and I mean EXCELLENT. Whether I reserve in advance or just walk in the service is fast, efficient and friendly. First time I used them I rented an electric compressor and thought that I broke it, took it back sheepishly, found out it was too much for my electrics and just popped the thermal cutoff. They upgraded me immediately to a gas compressor for no extra charge!! Last time I used them I rented the more powerful gas one. Even before I left the office it was loaded into my truck. When I took it back, left the office to find it was already unloaded. These guys are great. read more

Went in to rent an auger to drill holes in the ground for a fence. I was not looking forward to this task. When I went down to Cresco I was met with the absolute best customer service. This guy was so friendly and funny by the time I walked out of there I was looking forward to finishing the job so I could come back! I went in to rent a chainsaw at Cresco Express in Concord after seeing multiple YouTube videos on trimming and even cutting a palm tree down. I'm told that what I need is a grinder. Then without any solicitation on my part Jim from the Concord shop says he has to protect his equipment. Suddenly the phone rings and although I am there in person trying to rent equipment for my project, I am made to wait while Jim helps the more important caller. So, I ask another question then another customer walks through the door and Jim greets him in a friendly and familiar way. Then I get it. I needed an older rototiller repaired. Joseph 's has a 3 week turnaround. I was referred to Cressco, by another rental firm. Called Cressco and was told that they have an independent mechanic on premises. When I showed up, he was at lunch. His assistant asked me to wait or come back. He said he would get in trouble if I left the machine with him. I grabbed a bite, came back, the boss was not in yet. This time, the same assistant told me to go to the Martinez location. Concord does not work on private equipment. The guy on the phone told me otherwise. The guy at the counter told me otherwise. The same guy who turned me away told me otherwise just minutes prior. This is my second time renting from Cresco and they are great. I went on a Saturday morning and The phone was ringing off the hook. I was impressed as Jim blitzed through 3 or 4 calls and helped me and the guy in front of me in less than five minutes. My previous rental was stored in the computer and I was loading it into my vehicle within minutes. One of the yard guys helped me load it and Jim came out from behind the counter to make sure I didn't have to unload the 200 lb sewer snake myself. Fantastic service guys! As a general contractor and home owner I have been renting from all of the various local locations for probably 30 years. There naturally have been some problems but mostly good. The last time I went to Pleasant Hill is the last time I will go to Pleasant Hill. The equipment failed and they first demanded payment for repair to their defective equipment, refused to repair the damage it had done to my property and then got very unpleasant. I believe it was Mark or Matt (the manager as it turns out). This is only one of several small but very unpleasant rentals at this location. The true is it will depend on whom you deal with, but this is not acceptable in my book! Lafayette on the other hand I have found to be very helpful and friendly always adjusting for problems and always doing exactly what they said they would. Alamo location has always been very good as well although I have been there less often. read more

Great inventory, very friendly and well informed staff, these guys to an incredible job. Once you try them you'll see what I mean. I needed a "manly" rototiller for a patch of dense sod that is to be a garden this summer. I called them at 10:30 Sunday and it was all "no problem" from then on: Picked it up about 11:15, had it home by 11:30 (and was dead tired by 1:30, when I was done and the beast was back in my truck). I've been here twice to rent tools. I've been replacing fence posts and needed a faster way to remove the old cement footing. For $61 for 4 hours I can rent an electric breaker that will beat up an old footing in 20 minutes. Its similar to a jack hammer. I rented one today, brought it home and it didn't work. I called the store and the general manager personally drove a working one over to the house and got me on my way. Excellent customer service like this will keep me coming back in the future. Can't say enough positive things about this place and the guys there. I rented a tile saw and picked up a compact all in one wet saw for 12 inch tiles. I picked it up around 11. They were on a short schedule for the holiday so closed at 12:30. By time I got home and made a few cuts, the machine was struggling with getting through the tile. Wade had given me his card, so after giving up with the machine I called his mobile around 1:30. He went out of his way to head back to the shop so I could get the bigger saw. I was in a bind trying to get this done so my wife can have her bathroom back..I really appreciate his willingness to help out and didn't seem put out at all, if he was. Following past experiences with the Cresco folks and their commitment to a charity very near to my heart, "The Taylor Family Foundation" in Livermore, there was never a question about traveling any further. Not only did Cresco have exactly what we needed, the service agent, Daniel Wright, really made this experience great. Daniel had great expertise with the scraper and he went over the top with loading and unloading upon our return.
