Our chicken strips were soggy and pale. We had to put them in the air fryer to make them edible which I found strange since the regular fried chicken was brown and crispy. Yes they make some regular crispy fried chicken and among a few other things here, but they also make some crispy chicken wings and drumettes, a perfect way to satisfy a Wing Wednesday craving. I ordered an combo deal which included five hot wings and two sides for $7. For my hot wings, I ordered them plain, just breaded and fried, with the hot sauce on the side. My two sides were the mac and cheese and some sweet potato fries. The wings were very well prepared. The breading was just right, where it offered a light crunch, adhered well to the chicken, and had seasoning that was on point. The frying process was just right, because the breading was not oily and neither was the tender chicken meat inside. I liked having the hot sauce on the side because I was able to control the amount of sauce and or eat some of the wings without it. The mac and cheese had that nice creamy cheesy appeal and arrived nice and warm. The cheese was velvety and creamy and found its way through all the tender elbow macaroni. The cheese had good flavor and a I really appreciated the addition of black pepper to the cheese sauce. The sweet potato fried were very good, with a light crispy exterior and soft center. We have truly enjoyed Crispy Fried Chicken over the past year. The chicken is always good, but everything else seems a little hit or miss lately. Sadly I'm noticing a drop in the quality over the last couple of orders. The last few times we ordered the biscuits had obviously been microwaved, they were hard as hockey pucks. Stopped by this place after not being there for a few years since the precious owner moved to another location. Inside was simple but clean. WOman at the counter was attentive and cheerful. Ordered 10 pieces of chicken and a sid eof hush puppues (my wife is from the south). Noticed tht the price was cheaper than the big chain chicken places and the bag of chicken was HEAVY! Got home and was surprised with how large the pieces of chicken were and perfectly cooked. Simply seasoned so i just added siracha and japanese bulldog tonkatsu sauce. Wife was happy with the hush puppies and i was very happy with the chicken. I usually eat at least 3 pieces of fried chicken at a single sitting. Could only finish 2. The chicken look like they were from a large whole chicken that they cut up themselves (which is smart because its cheaper and fresher). Its now on the regular rotation of take out for us now. We ordered a 10-piece meal that came with "2 large sides." Large, if you are maybe a child, a toddler, but not an adult. It would have been nice if they had answered their phone, so that they could tell us large meant tiny. We would have ordered more. It gets worse. The side order of onion rings had 8 very small onion rings, that were undercooked, greasy and had no coloring resembling onion rings, the color was blond. The mashed potatoes are instant mashed potatoes. The corn bread was the highlight of the meal, it was the only item I would put near my lips again. The 10-piece chicken meal had four legs, one wing, 5 thighs, NO breasts. It came in two different containers. One was filled with chicken that was barely fried, it had a light, yellow coating, say the color of butter, and was undercooked. The second container, the coating was a bit better and darker, like fried chicken should be. Neither were golden brown. Both containers- the chicken was greasy and we felt ill, relatively quickly. We didn't taste the gravy, we felt ill at that point. Someone called this chicken the bomb. If you meant a toxic one, you are correct. Seriously, this meal made KFC look like gourmet food. I would say eat anywhere for fried chicken, but here.
