Racist Manager Michelle My family and I visited this restaurant on 9/24/20 and chose outdoor seating. The waitress was delightful and everything was going well until my daughter found hair in her food. We requested the food be taken back and the waitress was adamant about remaking the dish to go although we said we were fine. She remade the meal and when the check came out I was still charged for the dish. I requested to speak with her manager since she said there was nothing she could do about the charge. I then came in contact with Michelle, one of the rudest people ever. I tried to explain my frustration with the charge and she talked down to me continuously and assumed we wanted something free although we were already spending $200. It was explained that we were not looking for handouts but instead good customer service and food that did not contain hair. I have never felt so discriminated against in my life. It was clear that she had issues with my African American family. The conversation ended with her walking off in a rude way and me still paying for food that had hair inside of it. My husband and I have been coming to the crispy waffle for years. It's our usual go-to breakfast/lunch spot and I've always raved about the great food and service. However, one weekend I took my best friend and grandma to eat here and left utterly disappointed and with such a bad taste in my mouth. First, My friend had asked for a medium rare burger and it came back well done. My grandma had ordered a chicken basil panini and all it had on it was chicken and cheese. No pesto mayo or basil or anything that the menu had said. Food was bland and had no taste. I was disappointed and embarrassed because I raved about CW to them. I had to send back my one year old's mini burger because it was like chewing rubber. Then I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap and it had two cents worth of chicken. It was stuffed to the brim with lettuce. The waitress was a doll. She was so sweet about getting my daughter a new burger and making sure we had everything we needed. However when we were getting ready to leave my grandma told the girls at the front about her sandwich, they said sorry ma'am nothing we can do about it and then she walked away. I was standing at the counter to pay for our meal and they started talking about my grandma and rolling their eyes in front of me not realizing I was with her or that I could hear them. I was livid. Of course one bad experience isn't going to stop me from trying again, cause like I said, we've been coming here for years. But that weekend was terrible. Today our family had a big birthday brunch for my mother in law. We had a party of 10. My husband ordered an omelet with American cheese they brought one with shredded cheddar. So he didn't eat. Our niece ordered a Turkey avocado club. Some of the Turkey was over cooked and really poorly made she didn't even take a bite. They offered replacements but the experience was already ruined. Since we had such a large party we asked if those could be taken off the server went and spoke to the Manager then came back to the table and informed us they don't return or remove food from checks the server felt horrible. My husband pushed the issue (which shouldn't be needed) they removed his but not my nieces sandwich. The manager didn't even bother to come and address the issue with our party. My husband is a General Manager and oversees Food and Beverage. He has 20 years of experience with these issues. It was very unprofessional and rude for the manager to make the new server handle something she should have. Ordered an extra CUP of Hollandaise for my fries, arrived at the end of the meal. Got a forgetful waitress, forgot water, forgot a box for left overs, forgot to check on us. There is a laundry list of misses for this establishment. I always give places a second chance, but they have fell short too many times to count. The 1st time I came I got the Ole omelet which has chorizo, black olives, onions, jalapenos, and cheddar cheese. It wasn't like any kind of omelet I have ever had. The egg was kind of blended into all the other things and cooked as one. There wasn't the traditional fold the egg over the meats, veggies and cheeses. The spicyness gave me serious heartburn but that's my fault for ordering it. It was quite tasty. On 8/30 at approximately 8:40am. I visited Crispy Waffle for the first time. The first impression of what could have been the manager. An older woman, she did not greet us, she did not smile, she grabbed the menus to seat us and we were just expected to follow her. She did not smile or speak to us during this time. (It was not busy this morning, there were only a few tables occupied at this time.) We were on a time schedule and just wanted to have breakfast before being off to our appointment at 9:30 am. When the server came back she gave us our check, didn't ask how everything was or anything. Still no smile. Still had a sour attitude. We let her know we received the wrong food and she didn't apologize or offer any discount, nothing. The hash browns were raw and cold. When we went to pay we told the hostess and she didn't apologize or smile or greet us or seemed happy to be there. The older woman who seemed to be the manager came back, still no smile and still seemed to hate her life and her job. We let her know we received the wrong order and she still did not apologize. We simply just informed her that maybe the wait staff need to pay more attention of what their customers order. The entire ambiance was off in this restaurant. Lack of ownership, lack of accountability, lack of positive customer service experience. If we do go back here it will be a long time. Hostess was not overly polite. I had to greet her and advise only one in my party. Once seated, on the other side of the register station, she brought me a child's size water. Our waitress, Alex, was super sweet, funny and attentive(but not in a suffocating, overbearing way). I decided to shake it up and get a Santa Fe skillet and share an order of biscuits and gravy with my partner. The biscuits were a little dry, but the exceptional, home-style gravy made up for that. The skillet contained fair portions of everything and was very well done. My partner very much enjoyed his corned beef and hash as well.
