A great spot in the Southport area! We came here for lunch on a Friday and I was surprised how busy it was. Must be a popular neighborhood spot. When placing our order we were told they stop selling their monkey bread at 3pm ( we missed it by 15 minutes) and that they normally throw the leftover away (very wasteful). I ordered a limoncello spritz which was okay, the cornbread was okay but not very warm, and steak frites to share. When the steak arrived, it was not sliced and very hard to cut. I mentioned this to the waiter and he let us know they don't cut it and that he told them it was for two and they still did not cut it. The fries were also not very fresh. Loved eating here last month on a Saturday with a girlfriend of mine! There was a bit of a wait which was expected, but when we were sat we were glad to get a table against the window. To start- we ordered a bottle of champ with some juices, which was a perfect way to start off brunch. To eat... we decided to share a number of items- we ordered the Monkey Bread, the Lobster Deviled Eggs, the Wrightwood Salad, and the Avocado Toast. Everything was so so good, the salad I could not stop eating! Great toppings, and I'd love to try the brussels salad next time. The monkey bread is a must order- we licked that skillet clean even if we couldn't finish everything else. This was my first time to Crosby's Kitchen but definitely not my last. It is obvious that Crosby's takes their customer feedback seriously. Hats off to a good management team who cares about patrons. I have updated my review to 4 stars. Original Review: I tried to order through Uber eats and GrubHub for delivery and the orders would not go through. I ordered through the website and a DoorDash driver was assigned. My food was picked up @645; and the arrival time kept changing. I texted the driver after 30 minutes, no response. Finally I called and he picked up. App malfunctioned and he was on hold with DoorDash customer service. No one let me know of any issues. I finally gave driver my address to deliver my cold food. Very disappointed. Crosbys has great food and I live within a quick delivery zone (under 15 min with traffic), but not sure I would order again through website if DoorDash is the only option. A little over a month ago my friends and I dined here an hour before closing. We didn't have a great experience. Perhaps we caught them at a bad time. I left a review about my experience and immediately someone got back to me with concerns. They apologized about the experience we had and generously invited us back for another meal. When I tell you this was the most delicious meal I've had in a long time, I'm not kidding. The hash browns are like crack, they're so good. The blueberry cornbread was delicious, as well as the mimosas. The service was phenomenal, everyone was so nice and attentive. I was very impressed by the turn around my experience had. Mistakes happen, not every night is perfect, but they made up for it and that's what matters. I recently ordered takeout as a treat on the way home. I'm a frequent guest at Crosby's and I always take my family to get brunch there when they are in town. Tonight, my to-go order was extremely disappointing. The chicken tortilla soup ($11) was not even a full container and it was 3/4 full with broth and a singular piece of chicken and a small triangle piece of avocado. I do not recommend ordering this item if you are expecting chicken in your "chicken" tortilla soup. read more

I have always loved crosbys. I used to bring my nieces and nephews here when I lived in the city and was excited to bring my family back today. My 4 year old ordered the chicken tenders and happily started eating the fries while mom and dad took a "mom and dad tax" bite of his chicken tenders. when I looked at the piece of chicken I ate, I noticed it was raw. each piece of chicken on his plate was raw in the middle. we didn't want to make a big deal, accidents happens, and honestly, I've never been in this position before. they apologized and provided my son with a new plate. I didn't say anything, wasnt sure if I should really even *expect* anything. At the very least I expected them to comp my 4 year olds plate. the bill came and it was a full bill. I'm impressed with this restaurant. I do find it a bit a comical that the best dish I had when I visited for restaurant week was the filet sliders appetizer. Not to say that the rest of the food was good - it was - but the sliders were on another level. I took one home to my husband and he not only agreed with me, we've been back to get just the sliders. Honestly, you can make a quality meal from a variety of the appetizers on the dinner menu. Outside of that love affair, the restaurant is busy, gives off a cozy aesthetic, and looks compact when you're walking around. I sat at the bar, and my service there was very friendly and personable. This place was bustling in early afternoon on a weekend. My boyfriend and I stopped in for lunch but they were still on their brunch menu (it was after 2 pm), which was mostly breakfast but whatever. Our waiter didn't seem to understand that talking quietly and rapidly in a loud space meant that I was going to ask him to repeat himself multiple times. Other than that he was fine. We went with breakfast items: the biscuits and gravy (which also included eggs) for him, and a few sides for me: hash browns, sausage and a biscuit. The biscuit was fine; the hash brown was a thick square (think a piece of lasagna), herby tasting but not what I was expecting. Likewise the three pallid plump links of sausage that seemed barely kissed by a pan. I cut one open and it was just not appealing, but happily the manager swapped it out for bacon which was perfectly fine (I would have also been happy at that point just taking it off the bill). The biscuit and gravy skillet was tasty, according to my boyfriend. Overall, I might come back for a meal other than brunch, but this was only so-so. read more

Reliable, quality neighborhood restaurant with a lovely outdoor patio and something for everyone. We've been coming to Crosby's since we moved to Chicago in 2017. The food has always been very good, and the servers all extremely friendly. It's the kind of place where you know what to expect every time you go - the menu rarely changes, nor does the decor, but there's always a dish or two you crave that is made extremely well each time. Even though I rarely eat meat these days, I continue to come back for their turkey burger. It is very well seasoned, and topped with an excellent asian slaw that adds quite a bit of texture and depth of flavor to the dish. The bun is equally tasty, and stands up impressively well to the large patty. We've also been fans of their veggie burger, a well-made quinoa patty with tons of flavor and crunch. It does tend to fall apart, but it's a great play on something often overlooked. You also can't go wrong with their sides, from the delicious mashed potatoes, to fresh veggies and a new mac and cheese. While they do have a glass of wine or two I enjoy, what falls short for me is their drink selection and cocktails. They're fine, but nothing too special. I will also say that despite trying it several times, the spinach and artichoke dip leaves little to be desired, very little seasoning and chips that border on stale. But, we each have our dishes we crave, and continue to love, all these years later. I'd love to see them try some new dishes on the menu, but when your restaurant is packed every day of the week, I guess you stick with what works! read more

Our table started out with the spinach dip that comes with tortilla chips, which I would order again. I ordered the fried egg breakfast sandwich with the hash brown's. Came this morning for brunch/lunch with my best friend and her son. The place itself is nice and cozy and located at the corner amidst a shopping area on Southport. We walked in without reservations on a lovely Saturday afternoon, we were told wait would be 45 minutes, but we were called back after waiting for about 20 minutes, not bad at all, esp considering how nice the weather was that day and how many ppl were out and about and dining here. Service is great, everyone is friendly and helpful. The food is good, i usually always get the lobsta deviled eggs and a wrightwood salad. The spinny dip is always good too.
