Went with a party of 3 to Roebuck for dinner on a Wednesday night. There was no wait and we were seated right as we walked in. The service was very prompt. We got waters immediately and had our food within 15 minutes of ordering. I got the grilled chicken BLT, which was absolutely fantastic. The garlic aioli that comes on the side is so good. Perfect for both dipping sauce for both the sandwich and fries. I also got their signature Shark Meets Hipster IPA, which is one of the more solid local IPAs I've had in Lakeview. The others with me got the fried chicken sandwich (it was huge) and the Back of the Yards pizza (I had a couple slices- it was wonderful). Visited this place on a busy Saturday afternoon after riding bikes all morning, and it was a perfect spot to rest for a bit, have a margarita, and also some chow. While we didn't order their infamous pizzas because we weren't filling pizza, we both ordered a chicken sandwich and a spicy Nashville chicken sandwich respectfully. I liked my sandwich! We both agreed it was a solid friend chicken sandwich all around, and I love the sauce that accompanied the fries and meal as a whole. I kept adding that sauce to my sandwich and it was delicious! Despite it being cold, I do have to say the pizza was delicious. The crust was crunchy on the outside but still soft and bread like on the inside. First time trying Roebuck and was pleasantly surprised. Super easy ordering online and reasonable carry out time. I went with the standard bearer because the reviews pointed me that way and I was super happy. Really nice crust, not too thin or thick, not greasy, little wood fire flavor and the best part is it heated up awesome in the toaster oven the next day. Couldn't taste the honey but all around a great flavor. I also got the kale salad and that was super lackluster hence the star drop. It was just kale chopped up with Sind dried tomatoes. There's two photos of a Frozen Old Fashioned, this is not an error; I do often mistakenly double post photos for businesses. I can assure I did not. I enjoyed the Frozen Old Fashioned enough that I ordered another one. A little on the sweeter side but it definitely carries its booze and I had a brain freeze on number 2. My latest visit, saw that the frozen drink had changed to a Paloma, which I wasn't interested in tequila so I got their beers instead. I got two vastly different styles of beer and both of them were solid. I also ended up splitting two pizzas with a friend. The Margherita and the Standard Bearer, both of which were excellent. I was impressed because it's something that everyone does, but it's hard to make well, and the pizza was cooked well and the ingredients were balanced well, and not just a glorified cheese pizza like a lot of places do Margherita. The Standard Bearer has 'honey drizzle' I made a comment of how that's now a new thing on pizza and was a weird culinary cul-de-sac of hipster food but damn if it actually didn't boost the flavor of the pizza. It seemed to highlight the soppressata and mellow out the jalapeno a bit. I sat at the bar the first visit and the bartender there was great. When I had beer and pizza it was table service which also was good, definitely didn't feel neglected but also had time to catch up with my friend. read more

I'm so happy we found Roebuck for pizza! The pizzas are delicious and super unique, and the constantly rotating selection of beers is always a bonus. The best pizza by far in my opinion is the Bank Raaber with broccoli rabe, and my bf loves the Standard Bearer. The house hot sauce and rosemary honey are game changers - I've never thought to put honey on pizza but I could easily use a whole bottle when I come here. We were very excited to try this new spot in Lakeview and we were not disappointed! The ambiance is very chill and calm when you first walk in. It would be a great place for a date or a get-together with friends. Very open and cozy. The staff were super friendly and helpful without being overbearing. I always appreciate that balance. My partner and I both got drinks. My husband got the Juicerassic Park IPA and he loved it! He is a big IPA fan and was in his happy place. I got the Rye, Dry, and Pie cocktail and it was perfect! It will be hard to try something new next time since I liked it so much! For pizza, I got the Standard Bearer and my husband got the Spicy AF. We both LOVED what we got. I will probably ask to go lighter on the jalapeños next time, but that is just a personal preference. This may be weird...but I GEEKED OUT over the homemade rosemary honey. It was sooooo delicious! My pizza already had some on it...but I definitely dipped my slices in some more because it was sooooo good! And the hot sauce was great too, it just didn't vibe as well with my pizza...but it did with my husband's ! Slick new space in East Lakeview (not quite Boystown, definitely not Wrigley or Lincoln Park) on Broadway. Literally stumbled upon this place as we planned to go to DryHop and amidst conversation glanced at windows, saw door on the left, entered left sided door to approach a hostess...only to realize this wasn't DryHop. The place is a mirror image of its neighbor to the North! Not too surprising given same owners, but I literally didn't mean to dine here! That being said we stuck with it given we had heard good things online and LET ME TELL YOU - the food and drink and atmosphere are awesome. Tried the Back of the Yards pizza and some drinks. They have some really unique sounding pizzas but we went with this simple meaty 'Za as the first pass should always be the conservative test pass...which they pass w flying colors. Certainly want to expand on the offerings next time for sure, given everything tasted great. Only reason for lack of star - service. This gem is just what this strip of Broadway needed! A wonderful restaurant with elevated pizzas and food. Recently opened this place has their act together, don't let the fact that they are still working on getting an exterior sign up dissuade you. Pros: Our server was delightful and very knowledgeable. It's a lovely, dark, cozy space...great for fall/winter eats and comfort food like pizza They bring the card reader out to the table for easy check splitting. The Italian salad was a highlight, while the pizzas are great too...don't overlook the salads! Pizzas are Neopolitan style made with fresh dough and cooked to perfection. Get 1 per person. Cocktails were gorgeous and delicious They have a wall of vinyl and play it for music which is a fun, unique touch. We got to enjoy lots of Beatles music when we dined. If you do take out or have leftovers, they've kindly printed reheating instructions on their pizza boxes. They have wonderful and unique combinations of pizza toppings. Can't wait to go back and try more. The only slight con I'd note is that I found the art on the walls to be a little dark & disturbing. That said...this place has character and I've given it 5 stars! I don't even wanna write this review bc Roebuck/Dry Hop is so damn popular and I don't wanna have to keep fighting for a slice of heaven but the hype stands true, folks, they have TERRIFIC PIZZA!!! Visited Dry Hop (they serve Roebuck's pizzas) around 2:30p on a Saturday. The outdoor seating had a 20 min wait, but indoor dining was available IMMEDIATELY--which for this place is nothing short of a miracle! (Here's why: We tried swinging by the night before like amateurs and were told that the waitlist was closed.) Well, I was STARVING at this point so I couldn't have cared less if the only seat available was on the toilet; I was like "YAS, LET'S GO!" My bf is a vegetarian so besides the Margherita, Fungus Among Us was the only viable option for us. Now, as a carnivore, I'm usually like vegetarian shmegitarian *yawn* but this little toadstool toast of a gem was heavenly! The white wine lemon cream base with the fragrant mushrooms and lemon zest sprinkled atop to finish totally works!! My palate is forever grateful for this culinary experience. This new pizza spot is dimly lit and fits well in the neighborhood. It puts out a vibe and attracts everyone in. ;) I was with a group of about 10 and visited on a Saturday night. Considering it's a newer restaurant and we were a big group on a busy night, it's not a huge surprise that we had a long wait for a table. We ended up getting to sit in a line at the bar all in a row, so that was a good alternative. (Moral of the story: see if they take reservations if you'll have a larger group.) Our bartenders were great and took care of us. I enjoyed the baked goat cheese. Their bread that they make in house is fantastic! The marinara is quality and is slightly spicy (I'm a wuss). It was just so tasty. I didn't have any pizza, but my friends had the Spicy AF pizza. They love spicy foods and said it wasn't very hot. They added the house honey with rosemary infusion to it and also dropped some of the of their hot sauce on it. Then they were very happy, ha! This is a delicious wood-fired pizza place run by the folks at DryHop, so it is basically destined to be very good, and to have nice beer too. It opened only after we left the old neighborhood so it took me a long time to make it back, but it's basically everything I hoped it would be. Very good crust, nice toppings, excellent beer, chill service. I was dining one-on-one with my toddler and he had a miniature cheese pizza and liked it too. (In a throwback to the favored pizza parlor of my youth, you and your toddler can even go watch them slinging pizzas over the half-wall of the open kitchen.) It is a sign of how truly spoiled we are to live in Chicago that I'm not sure whether this is one of the best five wood-fired pizzas in the city, but that doesn't matter. I am a big fan of Dryhop Brewers as I used to live in the area. I am also a big fan of pizza and saw this on Chicago Eater so I had to try it. I came here on a Tuesday night around 7:30pm after my haircut. The place was pretty packed probably because it just opened and Dryhop is pretty well known in Chicago. So there would have been a little bit of a wait for a table, but there were a couple of single spots at the bar so I was able to walk in and take one of them. The ambience is modern, dimly lit, and a decent sized place. I sat down and waited quite a bit until I was able to order a drink. The bartender didn't acknowledge me until after about 10 minutes waiting. She was very nice, but she was swamped (seemed overwhelmed) and unfortunately did not make a very good Old Fashioned. Roebuck (nice Chicago touch if it's named after Sears) is supposed to be a cocktail bar and the Old Fashioned was below par. There was way too much ice (try a rock or sphere) and zero sweetness to it. Even though Old Fashioneds have simple ingredients, they are very hard to perfect. I ended up ordering the Red Riding Hog, which looked delicious. The crust was soft and the tomato sauce was tangy. The cheese was good, but I thought the sausage lacked flavor and there wasn't enough on the pie. I get that too many toppings will destroy the pizza from the weight, but I thought the onions and basil overpowered the pie from a toppings standpoint. But the vegetables were fresh! Prices were reasonable for the neighborhood. The pie was about 12 inches so it's perfect to order a few and split, but I can eat an entire pie with ease for myself. I think Roebuck best compares to a much quieter, intimate Parlor Pizza. Unfortunately, the pies do not best Coalfire and Spacca Napoli, but they were decent. I thought service was slightly below average and it took forever to get my check, but I knew she was pretty swamped. We sampled their Always Phoneless and Disco Call beer and ended up ordering 16oz of Always Phoneless for its mild flavor and aroma. For appetizers, we ordered wood fired carrots and Stracciatella. The Stracciatella cheese was really soft and tasty! And the bread was baked fresh (made to order) which we enjoyed. For pizza, we ended up ordering Fungus Among Us and Marinara and both were good. If you can handle some spice then I highly recommend that you try their hot sauce on the pizza. It's a jackpot! Don't tell em that we finished the entire bottle, haha. I have excitedly been waiting for this new addition to the neighborhood and I'm happy to say, I was not disappointed! From the people that brought us Corridor Brewery & Provisions and DryHop Brewers, Roebuck Pizza brings a pretty good little craft cocktail menu, house beers and a good selection of Neapolitan pizzas! The table started with the house stracciatella and house meatballs, both served with delicious hot and crusty house focaccia and both were delicious and got thumbs up from everyone at the table. For pizzas, we got the Bank Raaber, Red Riding Hog and Curds of Prey. My fave was the bank Rabber with a nice little kick from the chilli oil balanced with a hint of lemon. The Curds of Prey was also very good, the gorgonzola was definitely the predominant taste, but not overpowering, pretty subtle actually. The Red Riding Hog was a little bland...really the only disappointment food wise. Service was quick and attentive and the staff were knowledgeable. The only other downside was it was a little loud. The front doors were closed, but still, they'll be closed in winter, so a little baffling in the ceilings or something to soften some of the noise might be a good idea. It has a very home-y and romantic ambience with dim lights and a fun vibe. Came here today for lunch with friends. We were looking for a good lunch place around the neighborhood so we decided to check it out, it's right next to Dryhop Brewers in Lakeview. Overall we had a good experience they have a pretty selection of craft beers and cocktails. I had the "Oh Hey Australian Pale Ale" for drinks which was pretty good, the great thing is that you can always have a sampler of the beer if you're not really familiar with it. For appetizers we had the Baked Goat Cheese which was amazing and delicious! The Calabrian Tomato Sauce and Focaccia was incredible and so fresh. My friends got the Veggie Club Sandwich while I ordered the Double Smash Burger and we all got a side of Tater Tots to come with it. Overall I had a pretty decent and good meal, the tater tots was so good and the burger was good it was a little greasy though but overall it was good. My friends veggie sandwich was good as well. The experience that we had was good the server was very nice and attentive and super friendly and most staff members are all wearing masks and outdoor seating and indoor seating were both socially distant and they have hand sanitizers all over the restaurant. Roebuck has quite a bit of hype, but for all the right reasons. The food is delicious, and the drinks just make it all even better. The ambience is perfect for any occasion, although outside seating is hard to come by in the warmer seasons in Chicago if you don't want to wait. FOOD: If you like mushrooms, you MUST try the Fungus Among Us pizza. The slight tang of the lemon pairs perfectly with the creamy sauce so that it isn't too rich. I love the Little Green Men pizza as well, which has a yummy pistachio pesto. Another favorite of mine is their burger (add bacon!), although I'd recommend asking for medium rare if you want medium- I've found they tend to cook it a bit more than you ask for. The fries that come with have the PERFECT texture and crunch! DRINKS: I ordered the flight the first time I dined at Roebuck, which is the perfect way to try a selection of their beers. The sweet, but subtle, flavors of peach and lychee made the Shark Meets Hipster my absolute favorite, even though I don't typically enjoy IPAs.
