David, the sales rep, on my first call assured me a 3-5 day delivery for my out-of-state move from NJ to TN. On moving day, the driver tried to renegotiate our Signed Bill of Lading, $1,394 -- siting he didn't have enough space in his truck to pick up at his next stop-- to $3,100+! I had NOT added one item from the fully executed BOL, and, in fact, had one box LESS! I asked Rico to leave and I would pursue the return of my deposit. He advised that the company would Not return it, regardless of who my Attorney was. After hours of back & forth, with several managers of Cross Country Movers, I agreed to pay $400 over our Agreement, which was a Huge mistake! They held my stuff for 28 days!! We signed up with them because they promised excellent customer service and that they were not a broker. These were lies. They ended up sending another company out call Move Quick. If you sign a client and send another company, you're a broker. They told me no charge for my inside stairs, they charged me. The movers were 1.5 days late arriving. They arrive at 5:30pm and take 12+ hours to load 40 prepacked boxes, and two bedrooms with misc frames, etc. We then get to Florida and it takes 3 weeks to get a delivery date after being told several times, 2-3 days. Now I have a ton of damage, that is not worth anything in replacement as per the contract. After being up for 36 hours waiting on the movers, we sign papers at 5:30am in my truck. I should have read better. But basically, they lost all hardware for furniture and didn't assemble furniture back. My mattress is still on the floor because no one can fix it. Get the better insurance. Bed, lamps, dresser, lamp shades all damaged. But, with the $0.60 per pound per item won't replace one lamp they destroyed. They are horrible, uncoordinated and shouldn't be used. They pawned everything off to Move Quick who were not impressive at all. read more

The team picked up my stuff during the last week of April with delivery date of May 2. They charged me a thousand more from the initial quote. Until now, I haven't received any update regarding progress on delivery. When I call them, it goes straight into a pre-recorded answering machine. If i get lucky to talk to a person, they give the same answer. They said they still have not found a driver to deliver my stuff. The person named Juan Hernandez whom I initially spoke to about commissioning the company's services avoids my call or sometimes pick up my call and drop it eventually like he is very busy. Very frustrating. I'm reporting this company to the Better Business Bureau if they don clean their acts. Awful experience!!!! They quoted us one price and then when the movers showed up the poor guys were forced to ask us for more. The company wanted $29k to pack up our items and another $30k on delivery. Vanessa in quality control was the rudest to deal with and didn't get our list right but said we had to sign the contract in order for them to update to the right list. She gave us her direct line to text and call and never responded and her voice mail was full. She even charged us an additional deposit but the movers list reflected 2 items less than the original even though the price went up. In addition we only got 30 of the 70 boxes paid for and didn't get our couches, TVs, office furniture and 1/2 of the storage unit that were on the list and paid for among other items. We were told that if we filled the truck we would trigger the $29k so we literally were forced to prioritize what we wanted to take. We still have a home full of furniture that we now have to move over 600 miles to our final destination. Josh the sales guy insinuated we were to blame and that we were treating this like a hostage situation (all on text by the way) but he was the BEST when trying to win our business. Once they picked up my stuff, I never heard a word from them. No updates, no tracking info, nothing. I had no idea where my belongings were or when they would arrive. The worst part? If I could give zero stars, I would. Cross Country Movers is nothing short of a criminal enterprise masquerading as a moving company. From start to finish, they proved themselves to be utterly dishonest and completely unreliable. First and foremost, they managed to "lose" nearly all of our belongings. Yes, you read that correctly. We entrusted them with our entire lives, and they somehow managed to steal almost everything. Despite numerous calls and desperate attempts to track down our possessions, we've been met with nothing but excuses and a complete lack of accountability. To make matters worse, they didn't just lose our items--they also charged us to clean the items they did manage to locate after their truck caught fire. At least that has been the story as we have no police or fire report on the incident. How is that even legal? Their negligence has left us with virtually no egal recourse as they subcontracted out most of the move and their own insurance company is not liable for any of this. So they essentially walk away free of any obligation. We are left dealing with the subcontractors' insurance carrier who is even worse, as they offered us pennies to arrange to have our items cleaned ourselves or they will be discarding of our belongings. In addition to their outrageous behavior, their customer service is a joke. Getting any sort of meaningful response or resolution has been an exercise in futility. They've clearly designed their entire operation to dodge responsibility and make it impossible for clients to recover any damages. I have been battling colon cancer and multiple sclerosis for four years. I am medically retired from the City of Philadelphia. In July I talked with Frank who quoted 1,500. Overjoyed, I paid. They said I had more than I represented. I gave them more money. They then said my stairs were no longer included. I said I was no longer interested in contracting with them. They gained access to my storage unit via my mother. BoA supported my charge back. They told me that they were "sorry I was in the hospital" but "that's not how any of this works." There are a few companies using this name. The company with the PA address is the SCAM company. They quote you very low and when they have all your possessions held hostage, they triple your price. I'm talking several thousands. Then they promise a 2 day delivery and when you show up at your empty house, they are nowhere to be found. They stop answering the phone and send you an email that says they have 21 days to make delivery. Meanwhile I'm in an empty house after spending much money on motel rooms. I had a very good experience with them. I just got my license and my brother decided to give me his old car. It wasn't a bad deal since I just had to pay for transportation for the car instead of buying one. I chose the open trailer truck since it was cheaper per mile. It cost a little over a grand to have it shipped. The car came on time and it was in the same condition as my brother said it would be in so no complaints at all! Shipped my car with them from Philadelphia to Phoenix. Price is reasonable and the staff was very easy to communicate with. My car arrived undamaged and that is really the most important part for me. I would use their service again. Two things that could be improved: - I wish I knew beforehand that my friend (who sent the car for me) would have to go drop off the car at a remote location from Philly. I understand the why (truck is too big to fit where he lives) but again just a couple of days heads up would be nice. He was told that information the day before he had to drop off the car. - I also wish I was given the updates on my car during the transportation and not my friend who sent the car for me who then had to relay the info. Had my car shipped from New Jersey to California. They were very easy to get set-up, friendly, and answered all my questions. I had a very short timeframe from when I called them because I needed my car shipped ASAP, and they were able to find a driver within two days. The driver was friendly, and I was able to reach him without a problem. He responded quickly and didn't make me wait. My car actually arrived much earlier than I expected (2-3 days in advance to be exact), and there were no damages. My belongings I placed in the trunk were untouched, so everything went smoothly. Though the car arrived dirty, that's normal since it's open and not covered. Their price point is great as well for the turn around time and high quality service. They stole everything. They work in conjunction with summit moving llc. Bait and switch. Summit sets you up with a quote. Cross country comes and says it may be more. You understand and have probably budgeted a little more than they quoted. Once the truck is loaded they they tell you it will cost more than double your budget. You don't want to pay that but they know you have no choice. They then tel you they will not accept the payment form that summit has already used for your deposit and take your things and put it in storage charging an outrageous price so they know you'll never be able to get it back. He was very professional and friendly, and was able to arrange a better than expected pick up time for me. I did a LOT of research before settling on a company for a move from Philadelphia to Ann Arbor, MI for a new job. I had initially committed to another company but after experiencing truly awful customer service cancelled and changed to Cross Country and I'm SO glad I did. I moved at the end of the summer, at the end of the month, so it wasn't cheap, but I have a moving allowance from my new gig that I'm using so it's alright. From the get-go Cross Country were professional and communicative. Mark walked me through every single step of the process and clearly laid out what was on the contract and how things would proceed. Timing is a little hard because they're all based on West Coast but he always followed up with me as soon as he got into the office. I was loaded by a crew sent down from New York. Hector and his guys were amazing. I lived in an apartment building without a freight and the day they moved me the second elevator broke down so my reserved elevator was a no-go. They were so flexible and chill about sharing an elevator with residents (and another unscheduled move!). They put me at ease and made a stressful process easy. They labeled and barcoded ALL of my things and showed me the inventory before they left, which made me feel really confident. Because I had a large delivery window, it was a little frustrating to wait and see when it was "going on the truck" to get a better idea of when my stuff would show up in MI but once it was loaded it got there fast. Ivan and Clayton unloaded me in Ann Arbor to a third floor walk up. They were SO fast and efficient and again friendly and professional. They had me check off each item from the inventory as it arrived, assembled all the furniture the other crew had disassembled and made sure that furniture and heavy boxes were placed EXACTLY where I wanted! Everything arrived undamaged and in great shape. Customer service was great about following up to make sure everything went exactly as planned and ensure that I didn't have any lingering issues or questions.
