I had to relocate from San Francisco to Irvine and needed some help. I called/emailed different companies for quotes. Cross Country Movers provided me with a reasonable and competitive quote, not to mention they were very responsive in answering my questions. Moving day was a breeze! If you're like me, you despise the moving process. Packing, making sure everything is safe, putting away valuable items, transporting things to the truck, etc. Cross Country Movers made everything so easy, it almost makes me want to move again! Just kidding. Professional and punctual are the two words I'd use to describe this company. My furniture was transported with care and safety, which was one of my main concerns. Additionally, my valuable items were placed in a special wooden crate which was promised. I was very satisfied with the care they used to transport all of my belongings. My more fragile items were wrapped quickly but carefully, and everything arrived to my new home in one piece! Once in a blue, a company pleasantly surprises you. Four years ago, I moved my parents from the east coast to the west coast with Cross Country Movers. It wasn't a good experience (as you can see in my previous review). Recently, the new owners of this company reached out to me to apologize. A sincere apology in the modern world of sorry-but-not-sorry, of banks swindling customers, of tech companies stealing your data. The new CEO and Quality Control manager said, (I paraphrase) "We bought the company after your move occurred, and even though you didn't move with us, we want you to know how terrible we feel about your experience. This is not a reflection of our company, values, or the way we treat our customers." They actually took the time and read through chains of old emails I had exchanged with the previous owners which detailed my frustrations. Who takes the time to do stuff like that anymore? In my first career, I worked in strategy and business development for a huge financial firm. We bought and sold companies, platforms, businesses big and small. When you buy something, you acquire both the assets and liabilities. Then you write off as many of those liabilities as possible. A move like mine would've been labeled as "toxic" and shoved under a rug. Instead of writing me off, they treated me as a valued customer. I very much appreciate that. As a small business owner (my second career now), I know first hand that sh*t happens. The best employees make mistakes. Well-intentioned efforts sometimes fall short. What I appreciate about the new management at CC Movers is their adherence to accountability. Isn't that the most desirable quality in a moving company? We moved from SF to Maryland. Grace was our first point of contact. She was patient with all questions and concerns and explained to us everything. The movers came in time to move our stuff to the warehouse where it sat for a while before being loaded into a truck that would take it to Maryland. They had a window of 7-21 days and they met 21days delay exactly. The delivery was seamless and it was quick. The guys reassembled all furniture that had been taken apart while shipping. They were pros... did it all with minimum advice. NO DAMAGE to any furniture. Only small spills in dry foods inside the boxes which is totally normal. Even before I submitted my initial review, Cross Country Movers began to make things right. I'm the type of person that has low expectations (happier that way) so I didn't really think that Cross Country would truly put their dollars where there mouth was/is. Surprisingly (again, low expectations...), they came through. They processed my claim for the two items that were damaged fairly quickly, added a fair amount of money for the inconvenience, and honored a 50 dollar/per missed day reimbursement. So, perhaps their service for the actual move had some hiccups. Even the best movers are victims of circumstance. More important than what initially happened, the way they responded was courteous, especially Amanda who processed my claim. Everyone else seemed busy, but Amanda took care of everything. I really appreciated the emails back and forth and for staying on top of my account even though they already had my money and there wasn't much I could do to get some back. They went and helped me because it was the right thing to do. All the communications are done and I am simply waiting for the reimbursement to post. I'm dealing with commercial loading equipment most likely used one, Im buying it from all over the country fix and resell. Business is good , but transportation from other states is very expensive. I made my research and gave them a call , they offered me flat rate shipping from east coast. After comparing prices with my current transportation company , I decided to give them a try . Prices were lower but what about timing ? They promised to deliver my equipment within a week , I was prepared for delay . Guess What?! I received my equipment in 6 Days !!! Unbelievable!!! We just moved between one bedroom apartments. Our movers were Mike and Kana and they worked hard and did a good job. My observations were the following: - They showed up on time. - Packed everything nicely, nothing was damaged and they did a solid effort wrapping furniture. - Prices were reasonable compared to other competitors. - The truck was big and they didn't charge extra for having to move the gear up two flights of stairs. - The job was completed in a reasonable amount of time (~3.5 hours end to end). My partners and I decided to move headquarters of our business from San Francisco  to  Los Angeles.   As a business owner I used to deal with everything in my company .Even now when my company is growing  , I'm trying to track every penny , and do not waste it. I checked the rates all over my surrounding area , in my personal experience cheap is most likely not good , too expensive is not good either .Price should be reasonable and  quality on the level . This is my 3rd move in 4 years and these folks were the best I've experienced. Moved my stuff from CA to MI this year. Chris was co-coordinating from the beginning. And all my boxes arrived on time (except 1 that arrived a few days later) and all were in good shape. There was just one minor issue with my bike's brake cables (on one side) were off. Claims department issued me a repair cost so I was covered there as well. I move almost every 2 yrs and I know who will be my next movers as well - 5 stars definitely!!. read more

Despite the tight window to move out, Grace was quick to respond and scheduled the move out day at a fair price. Not only was the entire process quite professional, she was able to answer all my questions and went the extra mile to make sure she met my needs (eg. first month of free storage, extend the storage period, etc.). When the actual day came to pack, everything was packed with extra care and electronically recorded. By the end I was confident I had received an accurate electronic record of my items. Once I confirmed the earliest delivery date, they brought my stuff within 6 days and unloaded in a timely manner. Could not have been happier with how our move turned out, so many positives that we experienced working with this company. We first gave them a call merely to seek an approximate quote on how much the price would be for their help on a move. The receptionist was very kind and knowledgable about their field and explained to us the best way to go about doing everything. It began with an estimator arriving at our house early in the afternoon, he began scoping out the entire house including our backyard and basement. He made a few phone calls, took a few notes, and then arranged the move to begin the following morning. Within the next day we had about two trucks and a bunch of people entering and exiting our house with their hands full. The hardest part was getting the couches out of the doorway as it was very narrow and we had completely forgotten how we got it inside when we first moved in. It ended up needing to be turned sideways so that the more narrow side could go out the doorway first, I must admit I'm really glad these guys were there or else I would have probably never figured that out. Ultimately, all of our things got packed and sealed, loaded onto the truck with safe equipment and we are currently awaiting their arrival. Getting into contact with this company was the best possible thing that could have happened for this move! Very great group of guys and equally hard workers, would definitely plan to use them again in the future if we make another move. read more

The guys at the pickup were a different crew at delivery however they all have the same uniform and I suppose they have locations other than CA and NY. I wasn't aware they come with supplies to wrap all the furniture so I had did that myself however they wound up basically double wrapping everything which was very nice of them. They also bring bubble wrap and plastic saran wrap so don't buy that separately if you haven't already (like I mistakenly did). read more

Cross Country moved my son's car from California to New York and everything went smoothly. The pick up took minutes, and the car arrived in New York a couple of days ahead of my son. There was no one to arrange delivery for him, so CC had to make arrangements for temporary storage. My son made a call when he arrived on a Saturday morning and got the car with no problem. Without hiring someone, I was worried I wouldn't be able to get my belongings on time, or even take everything with me, no way everything would fit in my car. My wife and I recently made a cross country move from SF Bay area to Maryland. We used Cross Country movers and had an outstanding experience. From the walk-thru with us for the estimate, to preparation, packing and pick-up, their entire team was a pleasure to work with. On moving day, the team was very professional and responsive. They were extremely careful with our household goods in disassembly, packing and loading. They were very efficient and completed the load up in the time frame promised (1.5 days). They made sure to address any concerns we had with the move process and the security of our furniture and goods before they left. Also as a part of our move, we had a sedan that needed to be moved to Maryland. They provided a very reasonable price for enclosed transport. The driver showed up as scheduled, called when he was on his way and was very courteous and helpful. He took detailed notes on the condition of the vehicle and took care loading and securing in the transport. The car arrived as promised and without a scratch to the Maryland location 4 days later with the same driver. We were in temporary housing for about 3 months, which left our household goods in storage at Cross Country's San Leandro, CA warehouse. The 1st month storage was free, and the monthly rate was very reasonable for the next 2 months. When we finally had an escrow close date for our new home, we contacted CCM and scheduled for 2 weeks after the close. They arrived exactly as scheduled, and the delivery crew provided the same excellent service as the load up crew. They unpacked, re-assembled and placed everything right where we wanted it and ensured we were happy with the result before they left. They finished the job within the window they estimated (1 day). All of the furniture arrived intact, with no scratches or damages and with all of the necessary parts (screws, bolts, etc.). We had some minor damage with a few broken plates and dishes, and a piece of tempered glass for a sofa table. Somewhere in the move, a computer monitor was lost, which they assisted us on a claim. However every other piece of electronic equipment (4 LCD TV's, stereo receivers, computers, etc.) all arrived without damage and in working order. The entire move process was very smooth and everyone we interacted with from Cross Country Movers were very professional and helpful. Patrick in particular was very helpful and responsive to any of our questions or concerns. Researching online about cross country moves resulted in many very negative, stressful and costly experiences, so we were naturally concerned. None of those concerns applied to our experience with Cross Country Movers and we would without hesitation highly recommend their services. Very stress free experience. I had to help my grandma relocate to our uncles house, and I was the only on with some free time on hand to help her do it. Man, she had a lot of stuff. I tried talking her into donating most of it, but it was hard. It was also difficult to explain her the process , but I'm glad guys at Cross Country moving company had the patience. We had to go back and forth a few times, and I was afraid my grandma would change her mind or postpone her move again. Luckily everything was finalized rather quickly, and we didn't have to worry much. I can only imagine how difficult it is to move to another state after she spent most her life here. These guys also offer storage and auto transport, which many companies don't do actually. It was interesting to find out why the is involved in this relocation process. In all honesty, I was more worried about the actual moving process itself than our transition into a new city and a new home. It was not something like a local move in which adaptation could occur fairly easily since the environment does not change so greatly. However, thinking about being in a completely new state and leaving everything behind was troublesome but not as bad as thinking how I could possibly manage to get all of my stuff there without damage. My father elected to be in charge of deciding how to proceed with the move and called a buddy of his who had prior experience with moving companies. He gave us the contact information of these gentlemen and they were truly a blessing to be able to hire them for assistance. They handled everything with care and caution, taking care of our things as if they were their own belongings. Things happened fairly easily, they were able to empty the two rooms in just under a day and we are currently waiting on our things to arrive. Totally recommend them. read more
