Absolutely terrible. I know this is an airport restaurant but wow no efforts made here. We were traveling for Boise State family weekend, like so many others, and wanted some breakfast. By the way BSU family weekend is like a Super Bowl here in terms of visitors. The menu offers very little but they had an egg and potatoes plate which sounded good. Guess what they were out of potatoes. Out of potatoes at 10 am in Idaho! On parents weekend! Not prepared at all for the weekend rush. They offered croissant sandwiches in there quick to go counter so we thought we could get just the croissant , but the guy working there said he couldn't give us a croissant unless it was only made as a sandwich! We got the wrap and it tasted like it was made with powder eggs. The side was tots. You might think that counts as potatoes but he was more like overcooked crunch salt balls. Seems like they were from yesterdays leftovers. Also got the avocado toast. Terrible. Plain toast with more like guacamole, not fresh cut avocado, with sliced tomatoes. That's it. They should serve this with tortilla chips and call it guacamole dip. Beyond the food being barely edible. We sat next to the bar and could hear the waitress complaining to the bartender that "everyone is being cheap" and only ordering juice and coffee. Not mimosas, beer or wine. But when I saw a guy at the bar fry and order a cocktail they said they can't serve hard alcohol until later. If you are concerned with your tips try having good customer service and a menu that is available to customers. How can you complain when items aren't available to the paying customer and they only ordered what little was available. Hard pass next time. I'll wait for Smashburger to open or grab a bagel. read more

When I fly, I typically don't partake in libations but my son was celebrating his 21st birthday so why not. The star at Cross Grain Brewhouse is Alicia. She's very friendly and was able to glide through the busy dining room with ease. Her recommendation of the Mother Earth Boo Koo IPA was an excellent choice. With the TVs playing sports and the constant chatter with passengers it can be loud for regular conversations so keep that in mind. read more

I guess I'm spoiled. I live in Portland, Oregon, and there is a rule established by the city that prohibits businesses from charging more for the same product at the airport than they do in the city. When I get a beer at PDX, I pay the same prices I would in town. Having that mindset, I was flabbergasted when I got my bill for 1 pint at this place. $12.72?! Sweet baby Jesus... it's one beer! Nice little fresh stop before hopping on my flight. Total spot for sports fans. My Vegas Golden knights were playing so I got to watch them all the way in Idaho....awesome! Nice little airport pub. Not a huge selection of menu items, but quite adequate. Kayla did a good job as our server. We split the regular burger & fries it was more than enough. Catching a late night flight with my husband and stopped in for a beer about 15 min before close. The server was *negative amounts* of enthusiastic about us coming in and was VERY clear they were CLOSING. She sloshed our drinks over to us (as well as the people near us; the top ounce of their drinks landed on the floor and splashed my ankles) and reminded us multiple time, sans any friendliness, that they were CLOSING. The thing is, we get it. You're closing. We didn't walk in 5 min to close and order steak dinners. We ordered beers. A smile and a little hospitality goes SUCH a long way in this business. When it comes to airport food, expectations are low, but I have to say this place is pretty good- good enough that I ended up here twice during a weekend trip to Idaho. Highlights: -Solid menu options (especially in comparison to the one other sit down restaurant in this airport). They've got a variety of sandwich options including vegetarian options. -Nice staff. Both nights I was there, I experienced great service. Super friendly and quick. -Good price. I ordered a veggie burger with tots and a side salad and a glass of wine and it came out to about $25. -Food was tasty! I really enjoyed my club sandwich. Waited 40 minutes at table without being served. I understand the server was handling way more tables than she should have been assigned, but it was the bartender who ruined the experience. After waiting to get the servers attention, the bartender stated that I needed to move, without him asking or caring to understand the situation. In a calm tone, I mentioned I had been waiting 40 minutes without any staff stopping by my table, but he cut me off and said I needed to leave. Not too shabby for an airport pub. They were extremely busy but that didn't effect the service one bit. My server was quick, attentive and pleasant to interact with (which, as someone who spends far too much time in airports, I can confidently say is hard to find when dining in airport establishments). I can't comment too much on food because I just had a Caesar Salad with quinoa but I will say it was actually a decent portion for the price. Drinks were pretty strong so that was a plus. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because there's nothing really special about it, not a place I'd recommend to a friend if it were outside of the airport. read more

I do love the Boise airport and Cross Grain has a lot of great things going for it. I sat at the bar and my bartender was friendly, prompt, and so darn smiley. I wish I'd gotten his name, because he was a wonderful addition to their team. I ordered two local brews (they have tons of local options! So fun). I tried a hef from Payette and a stout from Boise Brewing. Both were delicious and cold and helped settle my nerves before my flight. I was feeling like something salty and fried would also take the edge off, so I ordered the nachos. They're made with thick potato chips, drizzled in all sorts of stuff and served with a stack of jalapenos. I liked the chips a lot and the pico de gallo. However, I was pretty bummed that the "cheese" was from a can and only mildly warm. While I've been know to enjoy a good stadium nacho on very desperate occasions, the reason why they serve the "cheese" in a separate cup is because that stuff will soggify even the sturdiest chip. They definitely made my nachos soggy and I only finished about half. But then, I was really there to chew some brews. I do love sitting at the bar in airport restaurants because I occasionally get to have some great conversation. The lady that I sat next to was a delight and added a remarkable element to an otherwise mediocre food experience. read more

We had time to kill before flying out and were hungry. It is the airport, so I was surprised the food wasn't SO expensive but the cost of the drinks made up for it. Jeez. The Sparkling Lemonade was $14, and a draft beer was $12. The lemonade was so-so. We had the BODO nachos. The cheese is the cheapo like the canned that you get at events. We usually stop here on our way out of Boise. Although we rarely want a full meal here, the appetizers are nice (we like the truffle fries) and a beer takes the edge off of the travel stress. Awesome airport place! Not too quiet but not noisy. Eating Whole 30 this month so made some modifications to my order....and removed the cheese, dressing on the side and croutons.
