    Chicken Paillard
    David G.

My wife and I both had the Chicken Paillard. It was delicious and so were the vegetables that came with it. The bread that came before dinner was also delicious; a type of corn bread muffin and a soft focaccia. Staff was kind and gave great recommendations. Outside seating had a great view of the marina.

Food was really good and service too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very reasonably priced for ambiance and San Diego.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you are looking for a nicer, affordable and casual date spot with views, this is your place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only downside is we had to pay $10 for parking, but if that doesn't bother you, go check it out! Includes starter bread which was yummy

We arrived for dinner reservations (recommended) and seated promptly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is simple, classy, modern with a quiet, refined atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Given ice water and drinks upon sitting. We ordered dinner and were served in a reasonably expeditious manner. The staff were extremely polite, proficient and meticulous. I enjoyed the staff efficiency, teamwork, and table work. Superb service! Started with Clam Chowder (clams, jalapeño, bacon) THIS is how all clam chowders should be made! Perfect consistency, creamy; not too thick or too watery , loaded with clam bits and clam flavor, bacon to compliment, and jalapeño for a clean spice and not one element overbearing, all the flavor blended perfectly, impressive. The Shrimp cocktail: shrimp cooked perfectly; it's done right, you get the sweet, succulent, shrimp meat with sour lemon and spicy/sweet cocktail sauce and it's music in your mouth. I ordered Short Rib Stroganoff for my main dish, if they would've asked me to pay double for this I would've happily, as I haven't found better in San Diego. The Cassarecce noodles are perfect al dente, curled into itself and wavy and with channels to grab sauce and cream, the beef melts in your mouth with juicy flavor. The mushrooms and onions popped with fresh flavor. I had a side of asparagus, I'm still thinking of it because the preparation was immaculate, no stringy fiber I've come to expect, the stem was as soft as the head, the spears were prepped and steamed consistent top to bottom! Great attention to detail all around. Standing ovation to the wait staff, prep cooks and chefs. Bravo!

We went to this place for dinner, and it's such a hidden jam in San Diego! Way in Coronado further down the island, [[HIGHLIGHT]]unexpectedly good restaurant with amazing views and fabulous ambience, makes you feel like you're really out of San Diego.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You stepped into another world. The menu is a bit limited, though, I wish they had more options, but whatever we had was overall good. Service was slow, but waiters were extremely kind and accommodating, and made us feel good even though the food was slow. We've had salad, short rib and pesto pasta. Overall would come back for brunch !

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Breakfast spot tucked in a pretty resort at the bottom of Coronado.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will preface THIS PLACE IS EXPENSIVE... for continental breakfast vibes. A fruit plate is $23 .... This place had a long line so go early to snag a table on a weekend. I will say, for it being basic breakfast, they do it well. The breakfast potato's were perfectly crispy and soft in the inside, perfect amount of salt. I still think about it .... Overall it was yummy but not worth the price

Had a nice birthday dinner for my husband at Crown Landing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Beautiful setting both inside and outside dining.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Love the delicious clam chowder with jalapeño and bacon starter, the fresh large shrimp & crabmeat with creamy lobster sauce and the large glazed salmon on bed of saffron rice and garnishments. Great drinks. Ended great dinner with Pistachio Crème Brûlée Desert. Wait staff was amazing!!!

What is supposed to be an 8 ounces NY Steak for $45.

I will get to the point. I felt that Crown Landing was a disappointment and just average and I will not return today here again. From the very beginning, the hostess made a comment "we have been waiting for you" when we arrived. We were 5 minutes early so I didn't quite understand the comment. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were sat down right at the front where every person walked by so the ambience was missing, especially for such a pricey meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] From the beginning, it went down hill. It took so much time for us to get a server that the hostess actually came over and asked us for our drink order to help out. It wasn't that busy so I was surprise. We placed our drink orders and again, they took a long time and my wife and I didn't get our pre dinner cocktails until our meal was served. We order 3 NY steaks and they were to be 8 ounces. We also ordered two pasta dishes and checked fingers for the little one, clam chowder, shrimp cocktail, Brie apps. For the most part, the meal was good. The clam chowder was delicious and chock full of clams and the Brie and shrimp were tasty. The bread they served was good as well. We did have to ask for water a couple of times which was irritating. The pasta dishes were ok... the bolognese had a nice flavor but the linguine with seafood lacked one important ingredient, seafood. For $28 that was surprising. The sauce was bland at best. Now the steaks. We ordered three of them and they were cooked the way we asked. However, all three of us noticed a strange gassy/ profane like flavor on them. They were still good but something was off. And what was supposed to be 8 ounces was 4-5 at best. And lastly, the Baine of any chef is having to cook chicken fingers or nuggets I am sure... and it looked like it. It literally looked like three or four of them were thrown on a plate with a handful of fries. $12?? Yikes. One thing I don't mind is paying for a quality meal and paying big. What I don't like is that this place was presented as a high end restaurant and it was average as best, with a $500 price tag with tip. Did the food taste good? Yes for the most part. Did I feel I got what I paid for? No. I would say that Crown Landing is mismanaged, needs service training and their impression of their food is much higher than my perception. Food: 3 stars Service: 3 stars [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cleanliness: 5 stars[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Atmosphere: 3 stars Price to value: 2 stars I won't be returning and I can't recommend this place unless you are in a pinch and there is nothing else. I felt ripped off when I left and I even waited a few hours to write this to see if my feelings changed. Not worth what I paid.

This is our second time here. This time we came to celebrate my passing my board exam! Chucky was our server and he was very kind and helpful. The manager was very attentive, my daughter cried in the beginning of our dinner because she wanted water and she came to see if she was okay. It was very sweet. She also offered to get us a thing for her. We felt accommodated and cared for during our visit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was very quiet and intimate, it was a Monday night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Besides the services the food was 10/10 last time we came the food was exceptional. Both dishes were great! My daughter loved the veal and pork bolognese. And I got the short rib stroganoff. Chefs kiss!

    French Onion soup

We had a lovely time at this restaurant for dinner and breakfast. I will start with the service. Erika did a fantastic job in all areas. She knew her menu and was able to answer all questions for both dinner and breakfast. All of the people at this hotel (Lowes Coronado) were really good and made us feel special. We had scallops, cauliflower puree and asparagus for our main dinner. The scallops were cooked just a little over but were still tasty. The French onion soup was one of the best I have had. The broth was so rich and had a deep flavor. It was not too salty and had a nice balance of onions, bread and cheese. For breakfast we had the bagel, cream cheese and smoked salmon (two times). The bagels were lightly toasted. The cream cheese had bits of green onion that were perfect. The salmon was plentiful, fresh and tender. It was served with capers, sliced red tomatoes, red onion and lettuce. The only comment I have is that the first time there was plenty if cream cheese and the second time there was not enough. Not sure if it makes a difference but the second time was room service and the first time was in the restaurant. Drinks were good. Great wine choice too.

Updating my previous review because this place has consistently exceeded our expectations. We spent Thanksgiving dinner here last year and most recently I took my team building here for brunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everyone was raving about the food, the excellent service, and the coastal view![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We lived in the neighborhood next door and this has been our neighborhood grill and bar. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You feel like you're on vacation![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Truffle mushroom pasta
    Olivia C.

The food was very good! We ordered the pistachio pesto pasta & truffle mushroom pasta. The truffle mushroom pasta was pretty decent but the pistachio pesto pasta was amazing! It had Brussels sprouts and extremely flavorful pork Pieces in it. The restaurant has a beautiful view of the weather and boats from the patio. The reason it's not giving a 10 is the service could've been better. The server was a little awkward but no big deal, she was sweet. The food took a long time to come out. My other issue is that they claimed things were house made that clearly weren't. The pasta wasn't made from scratch because I found a random rigatoni in there. It was good though! If you are not staying in the resort, I'm not sure what the parking situation would be. It's $47 a day for self parking and $50 for Valet for resort guests but if you wanted to just visit the restaurant, you should call ahead to see what your options for parking are.

Here for a conference and stayed onsite for dinner--food was alright, tuna tartare was great and Brussels sprouts were good albeit on the sweet side. Risotto was a bit underwhelming and scallops were a bit over cooked--service was on the slower side but it was a busy night so understandable.

The brussels and calamari were really great! However, the fish of the day was dry and overcooked.

No dress code. Casual is fine but you wouldn't be out of place either if you dressed a little nicer.

Like several other places on this street, this place gets slammed constantly, especially on weekends. Even so, the customer service is super fast and friendly. They really try to stay on top of my coffee cup. The coffee itself is a really smooth and balanced flavor. The traditional diner appearance is also great. The only reason I would give 4 stars would be the chicken in the chicken and waffles.....which is not even bad. I have high standards for this in particular. Thinking about it again, there's a lot of bad chicken in this country, but I've rarely had bad chicken in chicken and waffles. Maybe it's because a breakfast place wouldn't attempt it in the first place if they couldn't make it well. I found this portion to be a bit light on the actual meat. The breading is excellent, but I can see that the meat starts to become drier in the sections where the meat is thicker. And, of course, still a bit lean. I believe chicken for chicken and waffles should be dark meat, like any self respecting Asian should. Lmao. Grits were good too.

You can check out my 2 menu pics for the thematic food and drinks that are available. We started with the Volcano Fries. This dish starts with your basic fries, and goes up from there. As you can see from my pic, there are plenty of seasonings on the fries. But it's ALL about their sauces: Sriracha Aioli and Hot Honey. (BTW, the heat wasn't overly hot and didn't distract from the flavors.). Between the garlic, the sweet/heat action, the creaminess of the Aioli, these fries were very hard to stop munching on. While not a super-phenomenal appetizer, it was incredibly irresistible. We then finished with the Pineapple Fried Rice with Spam & Portuguese Sausage, see my pic. We liked the combination of the fried rice with the rich meats (yes, I classified Spam as a meat. This reminded me of some of the Hawaiian Spam dishes.) The seasoning was rather weak. But it still was a hearty and robust meal.
