We had the most wonderful dinner at Crown Landing a couple nights ago. Our server Trevor made everything super special. He was super excited to be there and joyful in demeanor. He enthusiastically explained all the wonderful new things on the menu. As each course arrived, each was better than the last. Thanks Trevor for making our evening memorable. We come here often when we stay at the Loews hotel during summer , service was fast and great then . We now experience the worst of their service . 20 minutes just to get water on our table , waited another 15 minutes just to get coffee refilled ; 40 minutes before we got our breakfast . Breakfast and Dinner on different days reveal similar flaws: 1) lack of coordination between Hostess and Servers. On both occasions we seemed to be in "no-man's land. None of the staff took the initiative to recognize we had been forgotten/ignored. For dinner, we waited nearly 15 minutes before a waiter came to our table. 2) Slow kitchen: for breakfast, our order must have gotten lost or misplaced. I tracked down our waitress who assured me our food was coming. Shortly after that, one of the four of us received her order of pancakes. I attempted to find the manager, but to no avail. Nearly 10 mins after that the rest of the food came out. My omelette was on par with what you'd expect from IHOP (maybe slightly worse). The assistant mgr/ hostess attempted to make it up to us but she didn't have a leg to stand on. Tonight's dinner was off to the same start, and the wait staff struggled to keep up with routine duties (i.e. refilling water, clearing dishes, etc.). Was very excited to go to this place due to the unique menu and many positive reviews. However, once the food came we were very underwhelmed with everything we had received. I ordered the Coronado eggs benedict and my sisters ordered the corned beef hash and the chorizo chilaquiles. The food looks good on the outside, however, once we started eating there was a lack of flavor completely. The crab cake in the eggs Benedict was too breaded you could barely taste the crab and it tasted like I was eating eggs with breaded.. bread. The chilaquiles were bland and the chorizo was very atypical and didn't taste good. The corned beef hash's flavor was okay but it wasn't what was expected at all. I should've seen the subpar flavors from the food coming from the moment I was served coffee and it tasted like watered down Keurig coffee. We should have done the breakfast buffet. Just horrible. Group of 14 looking for a nice dinner before having a wedding at the hotel in which this restaurant is located. On top of that the bride and groom booking a room for the night costing over $1500 and the hostess refused to accommodate our party. Said we can sit outside but it's cold. We asked to move tables together outside she said we are not allowed and would have to sit separate, the patio was completely empty as it was freezing outside. The restaurant offers blankets and an amenity but after asking multiple times the group again was ignored and refused the service. The food options were less desirable then options at establishments such as Denny's. This classy establishment even offered a buffet of stale cookies and old salad option. While staying at Loews Coronado Bay Resort we had the opportunity to eat at Crown Landing for both dinner and breakfast. The atmosphere is very nice; casual, yet upscale. The menu was very diverse with many fresh fish/seafood options, as well as other things. The salads we ate were extremely fresh and different, not your standard lettuce with dressing. The portions sizes were excellent for both meals. The staff was on top of everything. It was a little pricey, though maybe not for San Diego, but worth every penny. Weekend breakfast offered both buffet and a la carte. Excellent restaurant for both casual dining and celebrations! read more

Terrible service during breakfast - we were very patient and we were snickered at when we asked for water after being sat for over 20 minutes. The waitress was obviously overwhelmed and very busy so we tried to keep quiet and not bother her too much. We should have just had the buffet to make her life easier but we ordered off the menu which came sporadically and incorrect. She was apologetic and I had to ask the assistance of another waitress to help her. The fruit and banana bread was amazing! Shrimp and grits were lumpy, gross Bbq sauce and very soupy. The corned beef hash also was thrown together and doused in the same Bbq sauce. We kept quiet, ate our food and left. If they look busy - just leave. The hostess gave off a bad vibe that I should have read and trusted. They gave a 20% off discount that we greatly appreciated. read more

We decided to try as we were staying here. We brought our kids and they have the usual kids fare; hot dogs, mac and cheese.. The menu is a bit all over the place. Are they pushing seafood or Italian? The bar was a bit backed up and my weak tasting dirty martini was served in a champagne coupe. Typically wouldn't mind but the drink didn't even taste good. Corn soup and crabcake were delicious. We did not go the the restaurant, but actually went to the craft bar which is right outside the restaurant. We were able to walk right up sit down and order. The bartender Rourke was fantastic and made amazing drinks (by the way you can order a drink and leave you don't have to stay at the bar) The fish tacos are excellent, the butternut squash is superb, and the flatbread is delicious. Cheyana our server was amazing! Very friendly and helpful with all our questions about the menu. All of the staff are always nice and attentive. We have a boat on the marina so we usually come to eat here since it's very convenient. My boyfriend had the fish tacos, which tasted amazing and they came with 3 tacos which is a plus. The spaghetti is also very good. 4 stars because it is very expensive! But worth the money for the good service and quality food. read more

Was actually dreading eating here for breakfast. Hotels never have good food and it's always overpriced. I was, however; pleasantly surprised this morning. First ones in the restaurant so were seated immediately. It was clean and actually seemed newly renovated. Ordered an Oj and iced water. The waitress confirmed I wanted iced water and not cold water in a bottle they had waiting. Orders an omelet with bacon and wheat toast. Water and oj came out quick. She noticed some floaters on the water and immediately got another; which was awesome. Toast was delish. Perfectly toasted and huge slices. They were also soft so you knew they were fresh. The omelet came with whole golden potatoes and I was blown away by the simple yet delish flavor. And they were cooked all the way through which never happens. Everything tasted awesome; the only thing slightly off was that the egg was a little rubbery. But otherwise actually had a fantastic breakfast. We are long-time vegetarians, and have eaten at some of the very best restaurants offering vegetarian fare, including Hubert Keller's "Fleur de Lis" in San Francisco, "Ubuntu" in Napa City, "Root" in Waterford and "Selden Standard" in Detroit. The offerings of Chef Zack at Crown Landing in Coronado are among the very best! We decided to sample one of each of the vegetarian dishes on the menu: the roasted beet salad, burrata and snap peas, roasted cauliflower, and spaghetti al pomodoro. Each of these vegetarian dishes were unique, with surprising use of spices and accenting fruit details enhancing rather than detracting from the integrity of the featured vegetable. Simply put, each featured vegetable was showcased to its very best advantage. The beets were perfectly roasted, presented with a smattering of crispy/sweet walnuts, ribbons of daikon radish, mint, and smoky goat cheese. The snap peas [shells carefully filleted so that their interiors resembled an origami] were at their peak, sweet and crispy, layered over a small heap of watercress and arugula, with thin slices of preserved kumquat peeking among the greens, hiding the buried treasure of creamy burrata. The roasted cauliflower appeared as a small mountain on its plate, deeply browned on its surface, with notes of Indian spices [what were the little crispy bits?] and chive yogurt, resting in a thin pond of caper raisin puree. After these beginnings, we wondered if the spaghetti pomodoro might be pedestrian, but the thick, homemade sauce of tart tomatoes and roasted cloves of garlic over perfectly al dente spaghetti just made us hungry for more. We were so impressed with the imagination and skill demonstrated in this round of of dishes, we asked Chef Zack to "surprise us" with any vegetarian dish he would like to make. He presented us with thinly sliced ribbons of smoky eggplant marked on the grill, layered with buttery slices of fingerling potatoes, barely drizzled with piquant pickled onion juice, resting on zigzags of sweet, obviously fresh basil pesto. OMG. We completed this fabulous meal with lemon panna cotta in a super crispy, thin, buttery-brown crust, with white chocolate flakes on top, accompanied by a spoon of lemon sorbet, merengue flakes and blackberries on the side, puddled in lemon curd. This is the best vegetarian meal we have had in a very long while, and rest assured we will return for more. My only regret is that our home is in Michigan, and we will be unable to make this a regular indulgence. We understand that Chef Zack changes his menu as the produce changes with the season. This is become my favorite place to eat. The food is served with perfection. Quality is excellent and the attention to detail is amazing. I have had several dinners and enjoyed every plate. The food here was okay and the portion sizes were reasonable. I was not impressed with the service. It was quite slow and we had to wait a long time for our food. Several people did not like their food, and luckily I went with the burger to be safe; which was okay, but nothing great. There aren't many options in the area, so if you're staying at the Loews, this may be your only option. read more
