Everything was okay. The salads were good. The hummus was good didn't like that the dipping bread was torn up with more what seemed like pizza crust then pita or naan. Pizza sauce had too much acid content in it it was like a can of tomato paste was put on the pizza not sauce. read more

They are one of the only places we could find in the area that serves salads. They make some good bowls with veggies and have cauliflower rice. There is a nice selection as well, for both meat eaters and veg heads. Crushed Red also means Crushed INSECT After placing my order, I got a couple of uncleaned glasses. The worse thing was when I got my order. I was in the middle of eating it that I realized there was something weird-looking in my salad. As I looked closely, I saw an insect with multiple legs (I could not upload the picture). Well this was a pleasant surprise. I had read about Crushed Red opening a location near my house, and thought, "Why would I want to go to a place that just serves salads?" Then I read that they also had pizza, and thought, "Oh, so this is another build-your-own-pizza place that also does salads." I was still not impressed, and figured the market was just getting crowded. Then I looked online at the menu. It seemed interesting, with a lot of choices and extensive ingredient choices and pre-fab combos. However, $9 for the "Urban Crafted" salads seemed like a lot. And the pizzas were actually slightly cheaper than the salads. Anyway, we were in a crunch and didn't have time to make our own dinner, so we decided to try Crushed Red. Walking in the place, I was pleased with the decor and first impressions. We were quickly greeted and informed that if we wanted pizza we should order that first so that it could be put in the oven and be ready shortly after our salads. I asked about the size of the pizzas, and was pointed to a stray that was sitting on top of the pizza ordering screen. That was actually pretty smart on their part to have it right there, since I assume it must be a common question. Seemed a little small to me, though. Well I was pretty hungry, so I ordered the Yukon Gold Steakhouse pizza and then a regular size Cowpoke Smoke salad. The wife ordered a mini size Chipotle BBQ Chicken salad. Too bad a didn't see that there were different size salad options until after I had ordered. Well that explained the relatively high price online for the salads. Turns out I didn't notice that the online menu also noted that mini salads were cheaper (and large ones cost more). I also didn't notice how big a regular size salad was until after I ordered. So the salads were quickly prepared while we waited. Pretty interesting to watch. The lettuce is finely chopped - which is how I prefer my salads. It lets the dressing mix better with the greens. And all my ingredients were thoroughly mixed in, since my steak was chilled. The wife's shredded chicken was placed on top of her salad, since it was served warm. The pizza was delivered to our table just shortly after we sat down. My salad - Cowpoke Smoke - Sirloin steak, tomato, onion, blue cheese, & jalapeno straws with field greens. Goddess dressing. Wife's salad - Chipotle BBQ Chicken - Chipotle bbq chicken breast, roasted corn, black beans, pepper jack, cilantro, tortilla strips with field greens. Ranch dressing. My pizza - Yukon Gold Steakhouse - Parmesan cream, sirloin steak, bacon, Yukon potato, onion, gorgonzola & Crushed Red mozzarella blend with fresh rosemary. Everything was really flavorful. They don't skimp on the ingredients or toppings. So I felt I definitely got my money's worth. The salads, with the finely chopped greens, are really dense and fill you up. And the pizza's hand-stretched crust is thicker so that it also is pretty filling for its size with all the toppings. Had I known all this beforehand, I definitely should have gotten a mini salad instead. Especially since the wife at less than one piece of the pizza, leaving me approximately 15/16 of it to eat myself. I actually left some of the salad behind (which I never do), after picking out all the steak and other ingredients, of course. The meats were quality on both our salads and the pizza. Steak was cut into small cubes, with all tender meat and no gristle or fat. The chicken was all breast, shredded, mixed with the flavorful BBQ sauce, and a generous amount. I left with a completely different (positive) impression that I came in expecting, and will definitely be back for more. read more

This is my favorite restaurant it's always peaceful, but I was in town from 3 hours away and they weren't seating inside but seating outside with 87 degree weather. They said it was due to low staffing yet there's barely any customers paid $30 for two small pizzas and had to sit outside. They even brought it out to me. One person can't wipe off a table every now and then. The salads are ok, I usually get the South of the Border option. However I would avoid going there for several reasons: -They charge a lot for the amount of ingredients you are give. For instance they will fill the South of the Border with tortilla chips but skimp on lettuce and avocado - Most of the salads hardly have anything in them, but they will nickel and dime you if you try to add extra of anything. For instance the South of the Border hardly has anything in it, but they will charge you extra for chicken. - Incompetent workers. I ordered a salad to go and when I got home, the salad was missing a third of the ingredients it was supposed to have. Not worth my $10 Crushed Red does not compare to other salad options across the country like Sweetgreen or Chopt. Honestly, you are better off going across the street to Panera. Similar pricing but at least you would get mroe food/ingredients in your salad. read more

This used to be my favorite lunch spot but each time i visit, I like it a little less. Also, I should clarify that I used to frequent the Creve Coeur location but my job moved so now I go to Chesterfield. So I am not quite sure if it is a location thing or overall. I used to get a 'mini' salad and it was the perfect portion. I am sad that they did away with the mini so I have been getting a small but honestly, it is pricy for what you get. My small salad now feels to be just about the same size as the previously mini but is a few dollars more. I also don't feel like the salads are as loaded up as they used to be. Finally: a local designer salad chain arrives in St. Louis! Though you'll find several incarnations of this type of specialized eatery in San Francisco (for example), the concept is still minty fresh in St. Louis. Roll up and select your choice of specialty salad from the Urban Crafted menu, or you're free to design your own before the salad artists get to chopping up your desired creation. My personal faves are the Chipotle BBQ (chicken, roasted corn, black beans, pepper jack, cilantro, tortilla strips with field greens and ranch dressing) and the Emerald Coast (pesto roasted shrimp, avocado, cucumbers, mushrooms, and bacon with field greens and roasted red pepper vinaigrette). And the regular size is rather massive, so I wouldn't recommend opting for the large unless you're a strapping rugby player. Even the mini was way too large for my 11 year-old-niece - would be great to see a kid's version just like they offer with the flatbreads. Speaking of flatbreads, they're delicious and they offer a gluten-free version for an up-charge! Or you can opt for a side of piping hot flatbread to pair with your salad or soup for only $1.50. Crushed Red is always packed, as it seems to make everyone happy, from health nuts to picky children. We've quickly fallen in love with this place! So many menu options sound good--it's a good thing they have their "Two for You" combo where you get a half-serving of two items. So far we've had the margherita pizza, the Hawaiian pizza, the Health Nut salad, the Tulsa Twister salad, and the butternut squash soup. We've been happy with all of it! They also have a nice selection of iced teas and beer & wine. The ambiance is very cool, and as California transplants, we appreciate all the things they do for sustainability, especially cloth napkins and reusable flatware. Ran out in a full sprint to avoid puking when i found a long black hair wound through my romaine. Wish my stomach wasn't so sensitive or i would have taken a picture. Kharma was bad on my first trip - the lettuce appeared wilted from afar, avocados being served were damaged so i opted for a salad with no avocados. Then despite asking for "no cheese" it was put on my salad and then pulled off (partially) rather than starting again. I walked into the Chipotle in the same strip mall and got turned off and said to myself "why not give Crushed Red a try?" It hasn't been open long and I know they have a nice salad selection. There is one employee at the door that is super enthusiastic and there to guide you into the line. I read the menu and decided on the regular size South of the Border Salad (Avocado, tomato, roasted corn, Cheddar cheese, & tortilla strips with field greens. Low fat chipotle ranch) but asked to add chicken as well. When the woman handed me my salad I asked "Is there chicken in this?" She said she forgot and added the cubed chicken. I asked if she could add a bit more salad dressing on top since the chicken had not been tossed with the rest of the salad and she did. I began eating and the salad was very dry but the chicken was so tough and dry it made the salad seem moist. There was no flavor here and no pleasure eating. After I was about 1/2 finished I noticed the oils, vinegars, etc. that Crushed Red offers to dress your meal was at the very front of the restaurant. The station for drinks and napkins etc is at the very back of the restaurant. This means you have to go to two different places to collect things. When I was about 2/3 finished with the salad I gave up. I couldn't stomach anymore of it. On the way out I read the menu again to see what was in the South of the Border Salad and I realized I received neither the avocado nor the roasted corn. Never again. read more

My first experience at Crushed Red made me realize why I hear such good things about this place. I went for an early lunch and luckily got there early, because by the time i was leaving the line was literally out the front door. The parking lot at this location is a challenge, as there are several businesses and very limited parking spots. I tried the BBQ Chipotle Chicken Salad, regular size. The employee making my salad was very friendly. I substituted spinach for the field green mix and I also substituted the low fat chipotle dressing for the ranch, and it was great. They were not skimpy on any of the ingredients and the portion of the salad was huge. The taste was amazing. The atmosphere was very nice. However, it is very loud in the restaurant. The tables are cleaned quickly after the patrons leave. The only reason I did not add the fifth star is because of the price. I got a regular size salad and a drink and it was $11, plus the register asks if you want to add a tip. Even though the quality of the food is great, I think it could be slightly cheaper. I will definitely return, however, for a special treat every now and then. read more

Food was killer. I really liked the "This Pear is On Fire" salad and the roasted veggie pizza. I ordered a pickup order through GrubHub because I had a coupon and specified no spinach on the salad due to allergy. When I arrived, there was spinach on the salad, which is no biggie. It's a weird allergy, I know and things get misconstrued easily through apps like grub hub, I'm sure. When I let them know, a line worker got a bit defensive about it, saying that I didn't clarify an allergy. Which I did clarify, and it's not a big deal. I just wanted my salad remade because I can't eat spinach. The worker making my salad seemed a bit annoyed with my request. If I could give some advice : 99% of the time, customers are not upset, and understand things happen. You don't have to get defensive or seem put out by customer concerns or requests... it's very uncomfortable and as a guest, I shouldn't have to feel like I'm inconveniencing you. An allergy is a serious thing to consider when handling food. Besides that weird interaction, the food was great and I will certainly recommend it and I will be back.
