Our group enjoyed ourselves at Crust on a Friday evening. We started with fried calamari and drinks, moving to a charcuterie tray moving on to the New York pizza adding pepperoni and finishing with tiramisu. All of it was fantastic!! This was our first visit and we had previously made reservations. We were accommodated fairly quickly with a nice table for the 12 of us in a beautiful setting with low lighting and privacy. Our server was very polite and provided excellent service! We had drinks, appetizers,(Burrata), and really delicious lasagna, salads, salmon, pizzas and their wonderful Garlic Knott bread!! The food was AMAZING. We ate here tonight for our 39th wedding anniversary. The service was fast. We got checked on by management which we appreciated. There were 4 of us and we all loved our dishes. I had the Short Rib Pasta and it is one of the BEST dishes I've ever had. The staff really hustled. We made a last minute decision to eat at Crust the other night. We had about a 30 minute wait so we went to the green area and visited some of the vendors that were set up. Once we got called to our table we started with the meat and cheese board. I mean you can't go wrong with mean and cheese in an Italian restaurant. I had their GF pizza which was pretty good. The crust had a nice taste and texture. My son had the spaghetti and meatballs but he didn't like the meatballs. My husband had the chicken parm which he said was above average but he's has better. My daughters had Alfredo and spaghetti and meatballs. They didn't have much feedback for me. We looked at the dessert menu but there wasn't really anything that caught our eye that was also Gluten free. Overall it was a decent meal and we will eat there again. read more

This was a great spot! The ambiance was very relaxing and family friendly. We ordered the whipped ricotta and the Nicky's Buratta which was a good amount of food for two people. The whipped ricotta was good, I just wish the bread was a bit more toasted (my personal preference). As for the pizza, it was great! Savory and flavorful! The service was also great, our server was very attentive and personable. We also ordered the sorry not sorry cocktail which is strawberry forward cocktail perfect for someone who prefers a drink more fruit juice forward. I love Crust! I'll be honest they make my absolutely favorite salad anywhere - the warm arugula salad plus I add grilled chicken. I've had pizza there which is tasty and the salmon, also yum! I sit at the bar often and the servers are always attentive and pleasant. I love the atmosphere and they play great music. I'm a huge Billy Joel fan and they play him often. I really wanted to like this place, because the ingredients and overall flavor have potential but it's such a shame how they ruin it every single time. The bottom of the pizza is always burnt. Not just a little crispy...completely black, to the point where it takes away from the whole experience. It feels like the people cooking just don't know how to handle pizza properly. Every order I've gotten, the undercarriage is charred and basically inedible. It's frustrating, because if they ever got this part right, it could honestly be a great pizza. Until they fix this, it's hard to recommend. No one should be paying for a pizza that's burnt on the bottom every time. read more

Have tried this place, close to my home, THREE times. First time my party of 6 was seated outdoors under a VERY LOUD speaker.We asked them to turn down the music so we could talk.They did.Our appetizers for happy hour arrived almost ice cold.Meatballs included.My server said the meatballs were "not meant to be hot." The salad was drippy wet with dressing. Tried again. Same service and cold food at happy hour. THIRD TRY: A friend from Fountain Hills visited and we had a big lunch. Seafood pasta was barely hot and not much seafood.My Caesar salad was dripping wet and soggy with dressing. A great disappointment as Crust is so close to home, we'd eat there if the food were served hot, and someone knew how to make a Caesar salad. I won't be going back. Meet the Business Owner: Michael M.

Michael spent his childhood learning and perfecting his family's Italian recipes until it was time to join the family business. Francesca's, the family's pizzeria on Long Island, is where Michael's father created Pizza Rustica in celebration of the Pizzetta from back home. The Pizza Rustica stands as the cornerstone of the menu for Crust Simply Italian when the first restaurant opened in 2007. The combination of growing up and learning the Italian culinary traditions, making mealtime family time, and working tirelessly in his family's pizzeria have all culminated into the inspiration to create Crust Simply Italian. A neighborhood gathering place where his family could share the culinary traditions of Italy, his family, Long Island, and his own passion for cooking and serving others. I was about ready to write the place off. But then Aubrey, our server, came through and saved the day. She noticed that I wasn't really feeling my first dish and recommended her favorite dish on the menu. And let me tell you, it was amazing. Like, seriously one of the best things I've eaten in a while. And Aubrey's attitude was just so pleasant and welcoming, it really turned the whole experience around. On top of that, the ambiance and decor of the place were top-notch. Cozy and inviting, with a cool rustic vibe. Overall, I'd give Crust 5 stars. After being seated by the hostess and given a menu, I waited for a long time for someone to take my drink order. Despite my patience, no one came. To make matters worse, two families were seated after me, and their orders were taken before mine. It felt as though my presence was completely ignored, and after a considerable wait, I decided to leave. As much as I wanted to enjoy a meal here, the lack of attention and disregard for my time was unacceptable. I won't be returning and can't recommend this restaurant based on my experience. read more

Ok so I've been to crust multiple times and it feels like it's getting worse each time. Today we came for lunch and the pizza slice and salad was just so sad. The pizza was reheated and "little Caesar's" quality. The salad looks sad hell, and the ranch was sooo watered down. We spent $70 for lunch and we would love to have enjoyed any part of this lunch. Please just get it together. We love eating out and blowing money on food and drinks but make your guests "crave" the food so they come back. Service was great! They gave us a perfect round table for seven even though it looked like there was going to be a wait. Wait time - zero minutes! Appetizers were great especially the meatballs! We also had the Caesar salad, Nicky's Burratta pizza, Goodness Greenness salad, and the Tortellini Alla Panna. They were delicious! Dessert was the shining star! Cannoli was amazing! To top it off, our server was great and when I mentioned we were new to the area and it was our first trip she was so nice telling us the history of the original and the other stores, and the manager later stopped by to continue that conversation as the server told her we were new. I mentioned that I live closer to the Scottsdale store, and she said it's the same food and I'll like it just as much. I'll have a hard time deciding which shop to return to - it might be worth the drive to the original just for the ambiance, but I'll give the other a try soon because it was just that good! 5 stars. When she finally brought out my main dish, she even apologized for the wait and said "I had to go yell at them". For a main entree I ordered the French dip with onion rings, another reviewer mentioned they were the best they had had. The meat was kind of tough and dry (which is odd for a French Dip, and everything just lacked flavor. Even the au jus really had no kind of salt or much flavor to it. I really hoped after seeing how everyone else rated this place that I had found that little hole in the wall spot putting out killer food that we all long for, sadly this wasn't it.
