Turkey leg, fried okra & corn
    Kelly B.

On a road trip from Nashville to Memphis, or just happen to be cruising along I-40? Make sure to fuel up at Crutchfields! Fried okra, smoked turkey leg, sausages, corn...they've got it all. The flavors are great and the prices are fair. If you're feeling chatty, be sure to talk with the friendly staff and share food stories from your travels. We enjoyed our lunch and will certainly be back if and when the road carries us this way.

Disappointing. Not good. Bad area, looks like folks dealing drugs right in front of the place. Not soft drinks, only tea and fruit drinks. Pulled pork sandwiches, dry, no flavor, chewy. Mac N Cheese was good, as was okra...but hard to mess those up.

Old molded spoiled meat served to me and my children at Crutchfield BBQ

When my smoke sausage combo arrived, I took a bite and noticed no flavor what so ever. I figured it was because it was the beginning of the Sandwich so I took another bite and it still had no flavor so I pulled it away and noticed pale green meat in my smoke sausage!!! I peeled the skin part near the green meat only to find more green meat! I asked for the manager . Told her my meat has some green stuff in it she had an attitude and said "so you want another one?" Ummmm no! I asked for a bacon cheeseburger instead. While waiting for my sandwich, I took a picture of it but it came out blurry. One of the female workers noticed me taking a picture and she asked if I was done. She took my plate and threw it away telling the owner I didnt like my sandwich. Too afraid to eat anything else from the restaurant we left with upset stomachs and no apologies from the owner or manager. Both appeared upset with me for not wanting to eat old spoiled meat with no flavor. This was my first and ABSOLUTELY my last visit. So much for eating local... very disappointed.

    Best whole wings in Memphis!

I thought Commisary had some good wings..these were smoked then flashed fried and carried a wealth of flavor from the cooking method..hatr the ribs werent done but Ill be back soon..

And we are at it again. Today we tried Crutchfields BBQ at the recommendation of a Memphis officer. He first suggested A&R. . . NOT. I am willing to pay for food, not Nasty Attitudes. Then he suggested Crutchfields. He said it was a family owned place, really nice and clean and a good Christian environment. I have had such horrible experiences with food lately, that I gave him a little side eye. This place couldn't be all that and it's sitting on the corner of Hollywood and James. I COULDN'T BE MORE WRONG. When we walked in, we were actually greeted by the employees. WHAT THE WHAT?!?!?! Very nice young black men, no sagging pants, clean uniforms and respectful were greeting the customers. There was no yelling across the restaurant. There was no cursing. There was no loud music playing. One on the employee's apron was dirty. He stopped doing what he was doing and put on a clean apron. Just on the service alone, I will definitely be going back. Now, on to the food. The chicken wings were So DELICIOUS. They were perfectly seasoned. The wings were actually big enough to eat without wondering if there was any meat on the bone. The rib tips were so tender that they fell apart when I tried to pick them up. The baked beans were okay. Not what I would make in my kitchen, but the best I've had from a restaurant. Crutchfields definitely has my vote for the best BBQ Joint in Memphis, Shelby County, TN.

Gross filthy place. food was cold dry n no flavor. Soda machine broken. We thought we would try it cause it smelled good. Only ate a few bites then went into trash.

A great family run operation with excellent menu options, many of which are made in house. The bbq sandwiches were stacked high with generous amounts of quality meat, although I found the pork was not as remarkably flavorful as I would have hoped. Still good, but the weakest park of the meal. (Maybe the ribs or rib tips will be better). The sides however, are the real standouts here so far. The potato salad and smoked mac & cheese are noted as being house made along with the coleslaw. That said, the one MUST HAVE when coming here are the fried green tomatoes. OMG!...they were perfection and the best I have ever had! Hand battered with a cornmeal coating which was artfully applied at just the right ratio ...and then quick fried to a golden crunch. Not greasy at all and worthy to be served at a royal dinner. I look forward to trying other menu items at Crutchfields. These people seem to care about their brand and appear to be dedicated in bringing customers a good value.

They're always cooked fresh to order, served piping hot, and incredibly juicy. The burgers are medium-sized, but they also offer a double burger option. I usually choose the regular cheeseburger, but this time I tried the "Chiflet," made with Snake River Farms Wagyu beef and topped with applewood smoked bacon, egg, and American cheese on a potato bun. Absolutely delicious! They also feature a daily burger special, which keeps the menu interesting. The crinkle fries are consistently hot and pair perfectly with the burgers. On top of that, they offer a great selection of both imported and domestic beers. The staff is always super friendly. Overall, it's a great spot to grab a burger, hang out, and enjoy the atmosphere.

I had the Dr. Gonzo burger which had a burger patty, Swiss cheese, grilled onions, and bacon. Great choice of yummy ingredients to make a solid burger. The burger is kind of small but I was full after inhaling the fried and perfectly seasoned crinkle cut fries. The fry sauce was a total Hit! Service was good. Our server Becky was very friendly and helpful. The place has tables and chairs and high top tables too. The bar is dark but they do have some picnic tables near the entrance for more light. Bathrooms were clean and had a lot of personal signatures and art. I am going to return to get a different kind of burger.

Later during the meal, he admits that Momma's is one of his spots, so that's saying a lot. It sort of looked like another bar/restaurant from the outside, but they have a nice outdoor patio overlooking an old decrepit building which is at least some scenery. Once inside, you'll quickly see it's highly decorated and has a claim to be one of the only trucker themed bars in the US. Inside is decked out to the ceilings with signs, neon, old mirrors, collectibles, and many other items. I swear it looks like it's been in business for 30+ years, but my client said only a couple of years. I looked over the basic menu and saw burgers, breakfast, salads, sandwiches, a famous pork chop, wings and a few other items. The client and my colleague quickly ordered devilled eggs, cheese curds, and chili cheese fries. The first two apps were really good, I didn't try the fries though. They had a burger of the day, and a food special of the day, but I settled on the wings. With those I chose the 10 pc, Buffalo with dry rub, smoked. Kind of a weird combination since most people usually order dry here apparently, but I like saucy wings. When they come out, they are huge and I knew I wouldn't be able to finish them. I think I could only eat 6-7. My colleague had a ribeye steak salad which was a protein bomb he loved, and my 2 clients ordered a big rig grilled cheese which he also loved and a fried chicken sandwich (firebird) which looked really good. Overall, I really liked this place and it's one of the best meals I've had in Memphis the handful of times I've visited.
