Highly responsive. Custom least-toxic service by asking! I hired Crystal for a very fussy client. Personally sending out many pieces out twice per week. And inspecting returns. The driver delivered over-the-top service. Carried big armfuls of steamed garments up the stairs. Passed along all my special requests too. I rewarded him with a $5.00 tip per transaction-- after which his performance improved even more. STEAM GARMENT CLEANING METHOD This newer method is less toxic than conventional dry cleaning. My jury's out on quality. Items came back basically very clean. Some spots remained, in which case they re-do. Refunds when they can't. Bottom line: Crystal's working hard at fixes. So responsive. Given their least-toxic methods-- worth the wait! And nothing was ever damaged. WASH AND FOLD I sent out cotton sheets and towels, along with blended socks and underwear. All went smoothly enough. Quick phone response. The excellent driver picked up, clarifying my laundry instructions at the door. Laundry done next day. "Free and Clear" detergent by default, if I got that right. But happy to use least-toxic products we provided, along with our special instructions for using them. Namely, Seventh Generation Free and Clear Detergent, and Ecover Zero liquid non-chlorine bleach. Next time I'll write out all my instructions. For example, to pre-soak white sheets in our non-chlorine bleach-- if possible. I'd forgotten to mention that. Great cleaners I mostly use wash and fold but sometimes dry cleaning. Since I semi retired I don't do as much but never had a problem staff is always friendly and accommodating. My best thing is a have a 40 year old Santana shirt that was getting holes from age the young lady put it on the sewing machine and did the repair I was impressed I will wear that shirt until I die. read more

Let me start with, I've gone to this place multiple times in the past few months and never had an issue. Before this incident they had a solid in my book This past time I got 2 pairs of my pants back with bleach splatters all over them. I understand that accidents happen, and I was sad but wasn't going to be that angry customer yelling at service workers. I returned a few days later with my pants in hand, and was told that I was at fault and was just looking for a quick buck. She talked in circles about how they do not ever use bleach unless requested, which I believe. Never the less I still have 2 pairs of ruined pants. After asking for a refund she laughed and said she would not do that. All in all, it's just a few pairs of pants, not the end of the world. I recently used Crystal Cleaners to dry clean a suit and shirt for a wedding I went to this last weekend. They weren't my first choice, but they were close by, and the other places nearby were unable to turn around the job in 72hrs. An hour before the wedding I started to get ready, and I noticed that Crystal Cleaners had applied pleats to the front and back of my pants. I hadn't asked for them, and pleats don't go with the style of my suit. Annoyed, I went ahead and checked out the shirt they dry cleaned. Instead of the lightly starched and pressed shirt I was hoping for I had a rushed and wrinkly mess where I had to iron out wrinkles in the front, cuffs, and collar even though I meticulously packed/hung the suit in a high quality garmet bag. I'm truly astounded. These issues weren't in hard to spot places either. Thankfully the ceremony was a little late so being late wasn't a major issue, but I'll never use Crystal Cleaners again, and I would advise anyone to take their dry cleaning business elsewhere. read more

Crystal Cleaners is a friendly, reasonably priced dry cleaners on Fulton at Divisidero. I've found them to be great over the past several years and I strongly recommend them, particularly compared to other dry cleaners in the hood (who are more costly). Mostly use them for dress shirts and slacks, my wife uses them for all her dry cleaning needs. They're great. They usually open 15 minutes late. If you're in a hurry, it's annoying. Cheap dry cleaning that aggressively cleans & damages your clothes. If there's any kind of issue - even a solvable one, don't expect anything but a blank stare. However, if you do have the dreaded experience of coming in and innocently asking what happened, you should expect the response "Are you sure you come here?" and it's all downhill from there. I honestly don't know what happened and just wanted to see what they could do when my things came back all jacked. Because the damage swept through all of my nice clothes, my friends encouraged me to ask them about it to see if they could try something else. Used this place for wash and fold about 5 times with no problems I was aware of. Then upon getting home with my laundry I had not one but two items that were not mine. This brings on the dreaded thought.... what did I give them that they gave to someone else? I don't take an inventory of what I drop off so have no way of knowing. Then I think how many times has this happened in my prior services? Mixing laundry loads that people pay for is cutting corners. The hours each week I've saved in exchange for a reasonable price (I'd estimate $12 more than it costs to do it yourself - and that doesn't count the cost savings of laundry detergent since they use their own so it's even less than that). I was pleasantly surprised the cost was so reasonable. And, if I could fold laundry as snappily as they do, I'd consider myself the domestic goddess of all time. How do they fold those sheets so well so when you put them on the bed they have absolutely no wrinkles?? They look machine-folded/brand new. I didn't realize they picked up and dropped off until I read Yelp! reviews. After reading this, I saw their pick-up/delivery service is plastered all over their front window so I guess my powers of observation need work! Gave them a try because of the high rating, but wow the RUDEST AND WORST QUALITY cleaner I've ever met. Picked up my coat, it's dirtier than before I dropped it off! It was full of lint, and when I asked to borrow a lint roller, the lady screamed at me "Do it yourself at home! We don't do that kind of SHIT here!" (I literally quoted) It was completely uncalled for! I walked in with a smile and am super sweet the whole time, I don't understand why they were so rude after doing such a bad job! Customer service is non-existent. If you have nice things and they ruin them, you're out of luck. I've been using Crystal for years (as they are the closest to my house) so I'm bummed to have to write this review after my most recent and last experience at Crystal. I have been a customer for almost 7 years at Crystal Cleaners having spent over $3k on dry cleaning and washing. One day when I unpacked 5 shirts recently cleaned by Crystal I found what looked like oil stains on each of my shirts. When I took them back to Crystal, they denied having any involvement (as the cleaners they outsource their dry cleaning to "do not use oil" they said). They were eventually able to clean all but one, which happened to be a $140 custom made shirt. When I asked them to compensate me for it they refused, insinuating that after 7 years of patronage, I sabotaged my shirts in a scheme to get reimbursed for new ones. In reality, they knew it was their fault but did the math and decided it would be more profitable to lose me as a customer than pay for the shirt. Hopefully enough people reading this will prove their decision a poor one. Bottom line: In terms of average quality of service, no problem. However just know that money will always come before the customer here, so if you have a problem (or any expensive clothes), don't hold your breath for a solution. read more

Ugh. I will never go to Crystal Cleaners again -- they have the WORST, WORST, WORST service. I have dropped off a number of items since my initial Yelp review. I have a sh*t ton of 'dry clean only' items and have been giving them steady business on a weekly basis since I first discovered them... it's not that they did such an incredible job or anything -- they're just the closest to my apartment! I am so tired of dropping stuff off there only to have the women there immediately tell me how some stain will never come out blah blah blah. Fine. But there's no need for the attitude. One woman in particular uses such a sh*tty, rude tone that I want to remind her that she's in the customer service business and shouldn't talk to people like they're f*cking idiots. I also noticed that they seriously just make up prices as they go. There's no standard which is uber annoying. One time I'll pay $4 for cleaning and press, another I'll pay almost twice as much for press alone. And sometimes they ask you to pay up front, and others you pay when you pick up. Last week, one of the women rudely demanded I pay up front -- after I handed my card over, I distinctly remember her stamping the ticket (their copy, not mine) as PAID. I went to pick up my stuff tonight (I had a ton of stuff waiting for me) -- it wasn't until I got home that I realized I had been charged again for my pre-paid stuff (different amounts of course). After looking at my receipt and slips, I saw she had added to my other slip and charged me the higher amount accordingly. The stamped slip was definitely there when I picked up -- but she went ahead and charged me again anyways. This place is in a great location, its cheap and fast! But they have the worst customer service! They are so rude. They lost my linen bag I bring my clothing in and gave me my laundry back in a garbage bag. I asked them about it and they refused to even look for my bag. "It must be at your house, we don't have it." I have been bringing my clothes here for years and they have ruined several things and lost many brand new items. Life is too short to do your own laundry. Conveniently, with Crystal Cleaners you don't have to feel too much like a lush because their wash n' fold service is about 90 cents/lb. Yes, it is more expensive than doing it yourself, but you're not paying just for the wash n' fold, you're paying for perfect, pre-folded, fresh meadow smelling, freedom. You're paying an extra $20 over what it would cost you, for a Sunday afternoon of pure "Me" time, You're paying for the freedom from sweating in the laundromat and touching other people's fuzzy wet socks. They offer free pick up and drop off if it's more than 10 lbs. word to the wise though, they have frequently come at the end of the hour window they give you. Worth every penny. PROTIP: if they give you your laundry in the canvas bags, they work great for 3 legged races. read more

After reading all the rave reviews on Yelp (and the fact that my laundry basket was overflowing profusely) I decided to call up Crystal Cleaners to test out their pick up/delivery laundry (and dry cleaning). I called yesterday late afternoon (4pmish), they promised to pick up by 6:30 (which they did) and delivered it to me less than 24 hrs, clean and folded! For dry cleaning I had: 3 dresses (one that needed a zipper replaced) 3 trousers 2 blouses Then I had about 3 loads of laundry. All of this came to the total of $61. I figured (based on their rates on their card) that the dry cleaning/alteration was around $51, so that means for 3 loads of laundry they charged me $10. It would've cost me about that much to do it myself at the laundry room in my building, plus it would've been a lot of time waiting and folding. This is an excellent service they have! For straight wash/fold there is a 20 lb minimum if they come to pick it up - but that's still only $15. (They charge 75 cents/lb). I will definitely continue to use their service! read more

This business ruined my clothes and doesn't have the insurance to replace them! I gave them some very precious, very expensive clothing to clean. They did not handle them gently or carefully. The lace is ruined, the fabric changed color, and the mohair detailing completely shrunk and matted. I showed the owner the clothing and explained my situation. She told me that they did not have any insurance to cover this mishap. This is a bad business with bad practices. I WILL NEVER DO MY OWN LAUNDRY AGAIN. It just does not make sense to spend any time at the Laundromat. I don't even think I'll ever buy a washer and dryer in the future if I buy a house after experiencing the wonderful that is Crystal Cleaners. Sending my laundry out has changed my life. It is the definition of convenient! Crystal is pretty flexible and extends an effort to be even more convenient than they already are from the beginning. They pick up and drop off for free! And, if you're not going to be home, they will drop it or pick it up when you're not there if you give them a key. And, they'll allow you to mail them a check as well after they drop it off! Everything comes back folded perfectly and smelling clean. Its been wonderful...I'm just kicking myself for not discovering this sooner. Also, its pretty cheap, too! I just sent off a HUGE load (that would have taken up about 3 or 4 washing machines at the laundromat) and the cost was $25. I don't know...to me, not only is that on the cheap side, but it is money SO well spent. Please note that they only pick up and/or drop off from 4-9pm on weekdays. But, they'll work with your schedule and if you give them a key, they'll return it each time so that they aren't holding on to a spare copy of your key if that makes you uncomfortable. I have never had issues, sometimes they arrive a bit after expected time but they are extremely busy and I understand that. I guess this is so minor considering the amount of time I have been doing business with them. All my clothes are neatly folded, I could never imagine doing my laundry myself again. However (you knew a however was coming, didn't you), they have, on multiple ocassion, shrunk my clothes. Not new clothes that were going to shrink anyway. No, I'm talking about that favorite t-shirt that I've had since college, that pair of jeans that fits just right and those underwear that, until last week, did NOT cut off the blood flow to my legs. The purpose of Yelp is to elicit opinions about ALL businesses, not just the fun ones. I LOVE this place and would give them 6 stars if I could. I found them recently on Yelp after I had knee surgery and couldn't go downstairs to the laundry room, carry my laundry etc. They charged me $22.50 for 3 loads (which would have cost $10 in quarters if I did it on my own in my apartment's machines which sometimes dry and sometimes don't), AND they picked up, washed, ironed, folded, delivered back to me, and carried it back upstairs to my apartment. Such a deal! I have used them twice so far and allegedly can go back to doing my own laundry now, but I have to think up another excuse to have to keep calling them to pick up my duds. The price is right (it would have cost $40 at my cleaners across the street, and they wouldn't pick up and deliver), and I definitely would never iron my own sheets. Nancy is very sweet as are the 2 people who have picked up delivered. I gave them tips, which they didn't want to accept, but I insisted. I also gave them my own Rainbow Grocery groovy detergent which they were fine about using. I can't stand that perfume-y stuff. Nice people. Quick turnaround. Two thumbs up. read more

Yup, this was awesome. My clothes came right back in the way they went out; without me having to set foot outside my door. They were clean, neatly folded into nice, tight little bags (I even got my own reusable bag for next time!), with clothes in one and towels and linens in the other. And my 80 pounds of clothes (well, three GIANT bags) were less than $50. It would've cost me $40 to wash them at the laundromat myself. I am an absolute convert and have just placed another order for pick up tonight, delivery tomorrow. Yes, I have multiple pounds of dirty clothes again already. You wanna make something of it? Tldr: come here if you want good cleaning at a fair price and don't need to drop off/pick up early morning Cleaning is completed on time (they can do a very fast turnaround if needed) price is fair, quality of cleaning is very good, and the owner is nice. Why I they didn't get 5 stars: they don't open on time...usually open 10 to 15 min late (around 8:15 rather than the posted 8:00) based on the few times I've tried to drop off clothes before work. So if you need an early morning dropoff, this probably isn't the right place for you. I would upgrade to 5 stars if they opened at 8am sharp. read more

I have lived in San Francisco for about 5 years and before finding Crystal Cleaners I spent 2 years suffering through the miserable act of wasting hours washing, drying, "folding" and walking back and forth to a shady local laundromat. Discovering wash and fold delivery services (Crystal Cleaners specifically) was life changing. All you do is call them up, tell them when to be there and when to return your laundry; for me that means pick up at night on day 1 and return at night on day 2. In addition to the regular laundry, I recently found out they do dry cleaning. I don't have a sense of industry standard prices for any of these services, but what I do know is that for a huge laundry bag packed to the brim + 5-6 shirts to be dry cleaned + next day delivery + everything folded like it came out of a retail store, $25-40 is a damn good deal. Consider the amount you spend on washing and drying machines, detergent, the opportunity cost of spending a few hours sitting around at a laundromat, how terribly you fold everything and this is a no brainer. Additional notes: 1. I love the guy who does the delivery. He doesn't speak English very well, but you can just tell he is a great guy; always smiling and happy even if it is pouring rain and he is carrying your 50 pound laundry bag. 2. They take checks. 3. I recommend this to everyone I know. 4. Downside: Pretty sure they don't use fabric softener or any detergent that smells good, then again, this isn't your mom doing laundry for you. read more

After finally realizing I don't have enough time in the day to do my own laundry anymore, I found Crystal Cleaners on Yelp. This was my very first time ever having my laundry done at a wash and fold. I called in and scheduled a pick up at 7pm the next day. They came within 10 minutes of the scheduled pick up. The next day they dropped it off within 10 minutes of the scheduled time in a huge white laundry bag with my name and address on it. I guess they didn't like the white trash bags I threw my dirty clothes in. Opening the big white bag was like opening presents on Christmas day. A majority of the clothes are all grouped together and everything was folded nice and neat. The total came out to about $36 for my 4 big white trash bags full of dirty clothes. I scoured yelp until I found Crystal Cleaners. I called yesterday and they picked up my three bags of laundry around 5pm and it was delivered back to me about twenty minutes ago today. 24 hour turnover. Let me just say... I can't believe I didn't use W&F delivery before now. 25$ for all of my laundry done with free pickup & delivery, brought back in a huge white bag that they let me keep. And they didn't forget to bring back my reusable bags. Holy crap, I am never going to do my own laundry again. Screw laundromats. I need to remember to tip the driver next time! read more

Life-changing. Crystal Cleaners will come to your house (as late as 9P) to pick up your laundry and dry cleaning, turn around 99% of jobs in 1 day, and drop your clean clothes right back off at your doorstep. Despite what people say, it's not anywhere near the same cost as doing laundry yourself at your local coin-op (unless you're the ass who needs to use 7 machines on laundry day), but the price is not completely unreasonable either. For me, two weeks worth of laundry runs around $25-$35. Well worth it regardless, as the time saved is worth every penny. I usually don't give two shits about supporting local businesses simply for the sake of supporting local businesses either, but I will fully endorse Crystal Cleaners since the folks that run this place are EXTREMELY nice. I was so nervous when I called last night. I'm such a cheapskate-- I've always done my own laundry, and the cheapest way possible. But the SF neighborhood laundromat has worn me and my husband down. I called last night-- admittedly late and past business hours, and suprisingly someone answered and took my order!! I was just planning on leaving a message or retrieve more info-- but they took my order, and picked up in a 15 minutes!!! (Note: I'm now painfully aware of their hours and will never call that late again. Neither should you! They're closed after 7pm) When they picked up my 2 heaving hefty bags of clothes-- the pickup guy refused my tip. They dropped off around 6pm tonight, as promised and they folded every single garment PERFECTLY-- all in the same size and neatly stacked and bundled into bags, and in a large reusable laundry bag. They even had my dog's clothes nicely stacked and folded (how embarrassing to admit I have dog clothes). The laundry smells super clean and looks great and I couldn't be happier. It felt like xmas when I opened up the bags. Alright, I'll stop acting like a major cheapskate nerd. I'm just so happy for finally using this affordable, time saving service. Only $37.50 for everything (equivalent of 3 loads). I normally spend $25 @ the laundromat and 3 hours of my Sunday evening. Definitely worth it to my husband and I. I've been getting my laundry done at Crystal Cleaners for almost a year. So far, it's been fabulous. They pick up and deliver. And, they will use my own detergent and softener if I want (so it smells just like I like). They are definitely bare bones when it comes to laundry. Everything has to be available to be dried on high, so I don't send anything of any delicacy. But, everyday casuals, sheets, towels, etc. are perfect, and they come back folded and somehow all packed into my very own laundry bag. I've also sent along things to be mended, and they did a good job with that too. They are a must for everyone who has ever stressed about not having laundry in their building. read more

I've only been to Crystal Cleaners twice, and had completely conflicting experiences (hence me settling on a 2 star rating): My first visit went off without a hitch. It's hard to find a good dry cleaner, so I felt fortunate that the 4 star rating on Yelp was actually accurate! Unfortunately, I wasn't quite so fortunate this last go round. My silk blouse was returned with burn marks (?) and my wool coat was returned full of white animal hair and crispy strands of human hair (which I had to pick out individually because they were so ingrained in my coat that my lint brush wasn't able to remove them). LOVE THESE LADIES! I am a busy woman and will gladly pay them to do my laundry for me. FREE pick up and drop off with 24 hour turn around for wash and fold. Not to mention, 80 cents a pound really only costs you a few more dollars to have a giant bag of laundry to be done and folded perfectly than spending hours at the laundry mat and doing it all yourself.
