I started getting my nails done with Hoang about 8 months ago (2023) and she's the best nail tech I've had! She always does such a thorough job prepping my nails, that they stay on at minimum two weeks while still looking fresh (I get gel manicures and occasionally gel pedicures). She takes care in her work and makes sure the quality is high and you're happy when you leave. She is also incredibly friendly and such a kind person to talk to. When I go back every 2-4 weeks, she asks me about people I've mentioned, my job, and other topics we've covered in the past. She's also happy to sit in pleasant silence if you don't feel like talking. Going to Hoang makes me feel apart of the Sunset District community and I'm very happy I found her. First time in, priced well, location, MUNI J line and parking a snap, I ventured in for a manicure and left with lovely nails. Manicurist Hoang was well-organized, detailed, and thoughtful too. Once on a nail but keeping silent, she could see I wasn't happy with my color choice so we stepped up to the bar and picked something that blended with my skin tone. It was clear she wanted a happy customer so, I was happy to oblige. Always interested in life stories, we bonded over Lowell High where our son's attended and currently attend. Now we're smiling knowing we are the smartest moms. Ha-ha. All the while I watched the owner cutting hair and eavesdropped over her immigrant story. Great with her scissors, cutting current hairstyles she talked about quickly learning English so she could move forward here in San Francisco. The petite salon space is furnished with all the basics: a manicuring table, another table for drying, two super deluxe pedicure chairs, a shampoo area and a salon chair yet it doesn't seem cluttered. Kim has a liking for orchids which is evident as soon as you see the shop through the windows. When it comes to versatility and just a job well done, this is the kind of place that's advertised by good word of mouth. She advises appointments for multiple services but I've been added in for a same day appt or taken in as a walk in depending on how busy she is. Loanne does the best mani/pedi's in SF! I can always get in when I need to and they are more than accommodating. She also does a fantastic job on my brows. Yuki, the owner, does my hair color perfectly. When I was growing up I had auburn hair. As I have gotten older I have turned into a brunette, but Yuki has been able to give me Auburn hair color back, without it being too red, too orange or burgundy. I've never been one to get my nails done...but I think I found a place that will make me get them done more often! This place is great. I was a little skeptical because the reviews were a little old and there weren't many reviews in general. But I just wanted a simple place to get a manicure for my mom and a pedicure for me. Walking in, it's a very small place with a couple huge comfy pedicure chairs and a couple hair salon chairs. Yuki, the owner, does hair while Loanne does nails, facials, and waxing. They're both very friendly. Because Loanne is the only one who does nails, my mom and I got our nails done one at a time but we weren't in a rush so it was okay. She did my pedicure first, asking if I've been here before and how I heard about the place. After mentioning Yelp, she proceeded on to do my nails very attentively and thoroughly. Not sure whether it's because I brought up Yelp or because she is normally this thorough, but it was amazing! She spent a good 40 minutes on my pedicure, soaking my feet in water, cutting my nails, focusing on my cuticles, etc. She shaped my nails, massaged my calves and feet with an intense scrub (it did hurt a bit but beauty is pain right?), rubbed lotion on my legs and feet with a simple massage, and painted my nails nicely. All for $19, I would say that's worth it. Loanne then did my mom's manicure and it lasted about 30 minutes and cost $10. My mom and I both enjoyed the place and the ladies who worked there. I think my only suggestion would be to add more colors to the nail polish collection (i.e. more matte/pastel/bold/bright colors to attract younger customers), as most were in the red color or were glittery/sparkly which aren't my taste currently.
