I've been coming to Cuantos since before its Michelin recommendation and unfortunately the quality has dipped a bit. I feel that their meat doesn't taste as seasoned but this place is still amazing and should be on any tourist's list. I always get the pastor tacos and a quesadilla. The salsa pairs so well as it adds the needed spicy kick.

Located in an unassuming food truck park in Austin, Cuantos Tacos ended up being the absolute highlight of our trip. These tacos are seriously next level. Every bite felt over the top delicious, and we kept eating until our stomachs hurt... totally worth it! The staff were extremely friendly, and everything was made fresh to order, which you can really taste. It is honestly hard to find tacos this good, and the hype makes complete sense once you try them. Do not skip the green salsa! It is the perfect pairing and takes the tacos to another level. I would also highly recommend getting a quesadilla. It is just as incredible and definitely worth adding to your order. If you love tacos, Cuantos Tacos is a must-visit in Austin! This is the kind of place you think about long after the trip is over.

we tried one of each taco, and my favorites were definitely the mushroom and the cachete (beef cheek). the flavors overall were really good, but the tacos were pretty oily and heavy on the sodium. the red salsa was fantastic! super spicy and aromatic, but the meat itself was already quite salty, so i couldn't add much without it becoming too much. overall, they're good tacos with bold flavors, but too greasy and salty, so i think it's a little overhyped

So good every time. Also( the order ahead for pickup works quite well and highly recommend for avoiding wait times. It was still super fresh this way.

Cuantos Tacos is a true gem and especially rewarding for those of us who would rather have a few bites of something extraordinarily delicious to a heftier portion of forgettably mediocre food. After trying two Mexican City-style tacos--the Suadero (brisket, onion & cilantro) and the Champinones (Grilled mushrooms in Salsa Adobo, onion & cilantro), both on Nixtamal tortillas--it seemed a good idea to return sooner rather than later simply because these tacos were that good: delectably seasoned, served with fresh lime plus green salsa, and securely wrapped to go. Service was straightforward, friendly, and fast. On the minus side: the food truck tables were grimy and dotted with bird droppings and the parking area was rocky/not very accessible, detracting from the area's overall ambience though not surprising for anyone familiar with Austin's food truck dining experiences.

The tacos here were pretty good but also kind of tiny. I ordered the 6 to try each one and could have had more through the hungry night. So might be advisable to get more. Or perfect for a light snack. The seating here is not so great. Almost every table is really dirty and full of bird poo and nor will kept. Some over head tarps would have maintained the area better. Which this will make me think twice before wanting to eat in this food truck area. Since there are other things in the area also.

Cuantos Tacos tacos are fine. They are made with fastidious care. The meats on each of them (I ordered one of each) are cooked to spec. The salsas are bursting with garlic and thickened, I think, with oil. They are worth ordering.

Our first visit to this food truck on 12th street. Ample parking for maybe 20-25 cars and limited street parking with a few other food trucks including Thai. There are several picnic tables in the center so bring some wipes for tables, benches and hands. We all tried the six taco plate. They are street sized tacos with 2 corn tortillas. I wasn't a fan of some that were salty, or not very flavorful in my opinion. The salsas were very tasty with a kick. After driving 25 miles one way, I'm not sure I'd come back.

Lets keep this one short and sweet. The taco's here really are as good as you've heard. I got lucky when I got on line, as I was third in line, and after I ordered, the line had 25+ people on it. Just, go, it's well worth it. Do note the taco's are street taco size. As i'm writing this, I want tacos.

The food was magical untold stories stirred me up upon my first bite to the suadero it was so gah damn delicious I'm not kidding when I say top contender for this meat. Not at all and understatement why they're featured for Michelin guide. Service is diligent even at brunch hours I say about a quick ten minutes and less. Ambiance is food truck setting is very true to Austin's local

Came to Cuantos on a San Antonio-Austin trip from multiple friends' recommendations - and so glad we did! Cuantos Tacos is a truck located in the larger food truck park, with ample parking and picnic tables - two portapotties also. We came around 6pm on Grand Prix Friday in Austin and didn't wait long. Staff were super fast and friendly. I ordered the beef cheek and pork stomach tacos, and they were SO packed with flavor. I would have ordered more if I wasn't so full from the day's BBQ. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth, and the tacos really respect the ingredients, they don't fuss with extraneous toppings. All in all, will definitely come back to Cuantos - hopefully again this trip!

I'm not gonna lie, I haven't had anything but their 1 of each taco plates and a pineapple jarritos at this truck ever, but I usually enjoy my food here. think Some nights are busy, others aren't so. The parking can be a bit of a pain, but street parking is also an option.

This was my first meal in Austin and it absolutely smashed. Cuantos is a food truck around a lot of other food trucks and a shaded area with benches. I ordered one of each taco, and every single one of them was delicious. The mushroom taco was definitely the most unique, and the stomach was my favorite. The sauces are also wonderful- there's a spicy brown sauce and a tasty green one. One of the best meals I've had in a long time.

I recommend trying one of each. My least favorite was the mushroom taco. I would pass on that the next time I come

Pastor tacos were super salty. If it wasn't for that it might be better but I was shocked how salty they were.

Tortillas are homemade, and pastor is cooked on a trompo. Don't feel like a taco? You can also snag a quesadilla or tostada-like volcanes. There are several salsa options, and drinks include Mexican Cokes and horchata, among others. We ended up getting two tacos (pastor and carne asada), a nopales quesadilla, and an order of chips and guac. At $5 to $6 a taco, this wasn't cheap despite the no-frills surroundings, but it was well worth it. Everything looked and tasted fresh and smelled amazing. D/10 is known for its pastor, and it's easy to see why. Served in strips rather than chunks, it boasts a crisp edge and a nice bit of pineapple flavor. At this point, El Dorado is an Austin favorite. People don't really debate whether it's good. They debate whether the wait is worth it, which is a very different conversation. So rather than adding another voice to the pile of praise, it seems more useful to talk about what people should actually expect when they go. First, yes, there may be a wait. This place is popular, and popular restaurants attract crowds. That's not a criticism; it's simply the reality. But it's also worth noting that many of the legendary wait times come from showing up exactly when everyone else does. If you can sneak in before or after the prime lunch and dinner rushes, the experience becomes much more manageable. Once you're seated, do yourself a favor and order the white queso. Better yet, if you're with family or friends, just get the sampler. It turns the beginning of the meal into an event rather than a formality. The white queso is every bit as good as people claim, but what surprised me even more was how seriously El Dorado takes its salsa. Most restaurants treat salsa as a free opening act before the main performance. Here, it feels like something carefully considered. Several varieties stood out, and more than one made me wonder why so many places settle for mediocre salsa when it can clearly be this good. As for the food itself, it's important to know what kind of restaurant you're walking into. If your idea of Austin Tex-Mex is fresh, light, bright, and vaguely health-conscious, you may need to adjust your expectations. El Dorado leans toward the heartier side of the spectrum. These are rich, deeply flavored dishes that feel rooted in tradition rather than trends. The portions are generous, the flavors are bold, and the meal has a certain gravitational pull to it. This is not food that politely taps you on the shoulder. It gives you a warm hug and then insists you have another bite. What impressed me most, oddly enough, were the beans and rice. Normally, they're supporting characters that exist simply because tradition demands they be present. At El Dorado, they seem to receive the same attention as everything else on the plate. It's a small detail, but great restaurants often reveal themselves through small details. The service deserves just as much praise as the food. During our visit, we interacted with several different staff members, and every one of them was friendly, attentive, and genuinely pleasant. There was none of the rushed indifference that sometimes sneaks into busy restaurants. Even better, management was actively moving through the dining room, checking on guests, talking with tables, and making sure people were enjoying themselves. It's the kind of thing that doesn't always get noticed when it's done well, but it absolutely contributes to why places like this develop loyal followings. The atmosphere itself is cheerful and comfortable. It's colorful without being flashy, lively without being chaotic. Nobody is going to leave talking about the interior design, but that's perfectly fine. The room accomplishes what it needs to accomplish: it feels welcoming and relaxed, allowing the food and the people to be the stars. As for negatives, there really aren't many. If you're looking for an elevated dining experience with dramatic plating, moody lighting, and a server who explains every ingredient as though introducing characters in a novel, this probably isn't your place. El Dorado seems far more interested in feeding people well than impressing them with presentation. And honestly, that's probably part of the reason Austin loves it so much. Go when you can avoid the biggest crowds. Order the queso. Explore the salsas. Don't overlook the beans and rice. Show up hungry. The food is hearty, the people are kind, and the restaurant knows exactly what it is. In a city where so many places are trying to become something, there's something refreshing about a place that already has.

THAT PLACE IS THE BEST". Located off Mopac and Anderson in North Central Austin, this beloved tex-mex restaurant is situated in a relatively aged shopping strip less than half a mile from the highway. Parking is ample and available so there should be no issues with access getting to the restaurant. Although easy to get to, it's a whole different story getting into the restaurant. First and foremost, they are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Secondly, they are so popular that you should almost always expect a wait. The pro move here is to book a reservation, but if you don't have one - anticipate waiting anywhere between 30 - 90 minutes in order to get in. Once in, you have the option to pick from a variety of tex-mex cuisine, including some local house specials such as the "crunchwrap supreme" which has an interesting backlore related to Taco Bell. Free chips and salsa (choose up to two salsas to try) land as soon as you arrive. El Dorado is known for its vegan tex-mex offerings so those with more particular diets will certainly be able to find something that works. The salsas are tasty. The serving portions are large. The flavors are good - there's really not too much to complain about once you're in and seated.
