I honestly don't know what took me so long to go here. I pass it every day to and from work and kept telling myself I wanted to try it. I finally did and it was delicious. My first visit I had the Best Cuban sandwich. The meat was so tender and the flavor was so tasty. About a week later, I find myself back trying the Lechon Fiesta bowl with Cha-cha-churri sauce, packed with rice, black beans, lettuce and tender pulled pork. I also tried a mini chicken empanada. Everything is so flavorful. And the portions are big enough to share!! The restaurant itself is small but has seating inside and outside, with the patio secluded from the street for more privacy. There's also a small parking lot for convenience. I'm glad I finally decided to give this place a try.

Fresh and delicious sandwiches and Cuban fare at reasonable prices. Their fresh juices, lemonades and teas are quite spectacular and are bottled to go. The sauces take everything to the next level. Today I got a strawberry and mint lemonade with a surf and turf sandwich, which apparently is new on the menu. This sandwich was greater than the sum of its ingredients because of the Cienfuegos and aioli sauces. From the buttery toasted roll ( a little too soft to hold up to the heft of the stuffed sandwich)the sautéed sweet onion and peppers, thick sliced tender rib eye much juicier than shaved meat) and the plump pink shrimp and surprise sweet pickle chips. It was a decadent meal ( two actually. Take advantage of the half sandwich and drink special during certain hours, because half of a sandwich goes a long way. The Cubano sandwich is also a must try and I don't know of another restaurant in the Bay Area that makes them. Simple, no frills and 10 indoor tables with a few outdoors as well.

I love coming to Cuban kitchen. Their food here is consistently delicious and flavorful. I always order the best cubano san'wich. The service here is always friendly and it's a small restaurant but they do offer indoor and outdoor seating.

I stopped by on a weekend for lunch. I got on of the last seats. Tostones was my favorite item here. Ropa veija plate was flavorful. Fried plantain side was excellent. Mojito chicken was also flavorful. Side salad was fresh.

Super gluten free (GF) and vegetarian friendly. All their sauces at gluten free. A lot of meat and vegetarian options that are both gluten free. Very allergy aware business. Tasty small business that I'd support many times in the future.

Ive been here twice and the food is so good. I had the guava juice which absolutely amazing. At first I was shocked with the size of the chicken empanadas but they were so good. I tried the yuca fries good as well. Also had the plantains. I tried the yellow rice and beans wasnt my favorite but wasnt bad. Service was great and the inside was nice and clean. They even had some good music playing. I definitely will be back.

Ordered to go review! Parked in small parking lot next to busy El Camino road. Friendly service. Love the dining area very intimate setting. Food wasn't bad. Shrimp was not overcooked and veggies were not soggy (also not salted if you're wondering!) Lots of sauces to choose from. I enjoyed the lemon one the best of course! Thank you!

We've driven by this restaurant on El Camino in San Mateo many times and finally tried it. We love the richness in the variety of international foods available in the Bay Area. This was a great example. We placed a take out order, which took about 15 minutes around 6:30pm on a Thursday night. The restaurant was not crowded. Had we been dining in, we would have been seated immediately. Parking was available in their small lot. Overall, we were quite pleased with our experience. The ordered a variety of chicken, beef and vegetable dishes and found the food to be very good. The main dishes are available a la carte, which was better for us as we don't like to consume a lot of carbohydrates. To go food can sometimes degrade by the time it gets home. This was not the case here. The food was still in good shape when unpacked it. We liked the appetizers, especially the Maduros and the empanadas. the Tostones were good, but we found them to be a little dry. But maybe that's the way they're supposed to be. We're not experts on Cuban cuisine. The a la carte chicken and pork, which ranged from $9 - $10 were good. We found these to be a better value than the beef dishes, which were also good but cost $19. We liked the Pollito Mojito better than the the Pollo Pimenton, which was a little dry. The Pollito Mojito was juicier. The flavor was good on both. To be healthier, we also ordered a large broccoli for $8 and a large salad for $6. Next time, we probably won't get the plain salad, which we thought was not as good of a value for a tray of bag lettuce, tomato and cooked onions. We also ordered one Pollito Mojito salad, $14. Next time we do take out, we'll probably order it as a large side for $9 and adding our own lettuce at home. In general, we thought the food was pretty good. it was a nice change of pace to have Cuban food. We plan to go back to Cuban Kitchen.

We wanted Cuban food and this place nailed it, amazing service and the food was fantastic! Ordered a Cubano to eat for dinner. Was so good I hadda get one to go! Wife had an entree plate and the house sauces were delicious with the meal.

The cute little restaurant is located in a somewhat commercial area. We actually ended up here after after another one ended up not having a dine-in option, but we are glad we found it. We walked in before noon and there were a few customers. Once noon hit, the restaurant got real busy. This was on a Monday too. We came here to have a birthday lunch, so we started off with mimosas. I preferred a bit less juice, but the flavors were delicious. We got the guava and mint mojito. For food: -Mini beef and chicken empanadas: 5/5 sooo good. I wish they were bigger. -1/2 surf & turf sandwich with fries: 5/5 The fries were crisp to perfection and sandwich super delectable with a healthy portion of meat -Platter - Pollito Mojito (chicken) with black beans and rice 4/5 The chicken was a bit dry, but all the flavors were there and the sauces made up for it. Once it got busy, service was a little lacking, but there were only 2 servers there. Looking forward to going back to try the other menu items.

Great vibes and delicious food! I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner and she was incredible! I will definitely be going again!

This place is a hidden gem in the bay area! Sitting lone, with enough parking, this spot is located in San Mateo near Hillsdale mall! The restaurant is on the smaller side, but definitely enough seating both indoors and on the patio!! The service is fast casual, and the food is heavily portioned! Literally their tapas made me so full! Their kids meals are under $10 and are just as delicious as the entrees! My faves were the Vaca frita, Lechon, beef stew, and the plantains! Affordable pricing and everything is made organic and in house!

El Camino isn't known for great food but don't skip over this spot! We had a great time after finally stopping by - the food was good overall and it was consistently busy. I really enjoyed the black beans, whereas the veggie side had way too many onions. The guava dessert was pastry.

Is Cuban Cafecito strong as they really say seeing that you serve Cafe Bustelo?

Hi Alberto - thank you for your inquiry. Cuban cafecito is as sweet as it is strong... typically I order "una colada" which is about 6oz of espresso and lots of sugar! While we do serve Bustelo, we are in the process of acquiring a commercial…

Are there any gluten free options?

The corn tortillas are probably gluten free but you should call them to make sure.

Do you have printed menus? I have heard you need an i phone to order using a qr code.

As of 7/4/21, are they still open for business? Thx

We are open for business- please see our website for hours of operation www.qbacubankitchen.com thank you

    Do you have vegan options?

we do! our rice and beans are vegan, most of our appetizers and sauces are vegan, and we have 6 different veggies to choose from to make your own meal or salad cuban kitchen combos! thank you for asking and happy new year!

What type of music do you play on Saturday nights? Is it live band or DJ? Thinking of having my 50th bday dinner here.

Hi Sally, thank you for your inquiry and for considering our Cuban kitchen to host your birthday dinner :-) Currently we play Cuban / Latin music from playlists...we haven't hired professional bands or DJ's as of yet - our establishment is small and…

    Are cortadito served daily?

yes! but we are closed mondays :)

What type of bread do you use in your Cubano s'wich? Is jarlsberg traditional in a Cuban s'wich? Is a mofongo like dish found on a Cuban table?

sorry i hadnt seen this earlier...we use LeBoulanger Deli Strip, which is closer to Media Noche bread than Cubano bread. i prefer Jarlsberg because this imported swiss has the best flavor, we dont serve mofongo but fufu is similar and more typical

Is it real Cuban flavor or just Cuban inspired cuisine?

I'm half Cuban and was born and raised in Miami. This is probably the ONLY place in the Bay Area that I would say is "authentically" Cuban.…

    Is it dog friendly?

Yes - we have an outdoor patio area where dogs are welcome and have access to doggie water bowl :-)

Everything is freshly made, the portions are generous, and the meat is packed with flavor. The oxtail was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the jerk pork was ridiculously juicy and flavorful. I also tried the jerk chicken and NY strip. The chicken actually stole the show--the steak was good, but the jerk chicken had that extra something that made me keep going back for another bite. And of course, the coconut rice and plantains were the perfect companions to all that rich, savory goodness. My only wish? Give me something fresh and refreshing on the side! A little salad, slaw, or something with some acidity would balance out all that richness beautifully. Overall, though, everything was delicious, portions were big, and my Caribbean food cravings have officially been satisfied. Definitely coming back!
