Passed this place on the way to our Airbnb, read some reviews here, and ordered take out for dinner. We ordered late - just a few minutes before they closed - no problem. We ordered 2 beef empanadas, the Ropa Vieja plate, and a side of meduro and congri. Everything was freshly made and delicious. The empanadas are so tasty they could be a meal on their own. Decided to go to Cubanitas on whim and wanting something new. The space isn't big for a large party but you can make work depending on your group. Definitely best decision that day! The customer service was outstanding! Even though you order and sit, we were checked on multiple times while sitting and enjoying the food. The food was SOOOOO flavorful! The rice was nice and moist and the beef was cooked to perfection! Not pictured was a sauce which consisted of onion, garlic, and lemon juice I think. The best way to top off this delicious meal was to order one of their milkshakes! Since I had my littles with me, I had the excuse of ordering two different flavors. We enjoyed both the strawberry and mango milkshakes.... Seriously the best milkshakes I've ever had! My only con would be there isn't a restroom for customers to use so plan accordingly. I had really high expectations after readings reviews, Only to be highly Disappointed, I was born in Miami, Raised in Puerto Rico,So you can say I know a Little about Flavors, I had the Puerco ( Pork) Asado plate with congri and I had Yuca on the side with mojo, The Pork was super dry like 2 days before left overs and the Yuca to be honest I don't know what that was?? there's nothing Traditional or even AUTHENTIC about this food, My Wife had the Bistec de Cerdo with congri as well, That was a little better Tasting, But not to ever go back, Service was ok, She took my plate off the bill because I hardly ate, Atmosphere was decent nothing to be excited about. In closing I know I live in Arizona now, And not Florida so the flavors aren't going to be there, Or not even close to the Caribbean islands, But don't call it Authentic or even Traditional, It's an embarrassment to our culture. read more

This was our 2nd time coming here and both times everything was sooo delicious! Hubby and I got the same thing both visits and it was great each time. We started with an Empanada, which had a crispy pastry and the picadillo filling inside was so tasty. For our entrees, Hubby got the Grilled Chicken Plate, which comes with a salad and congri (black beans and rice). His chicken was so tender and the congri is perfectly cooked. I got the Grilled Pork Plate, which is served with grilled onions, a salad and congri. The pork is tender and grilled so nicely. We also got a side of Plantains Maduro (sweet plantains), which are delightfully caramelized. We like to add them to our rice, it's fun to get the pop of sweetness in a bite...yummy!!!! I really love Cuban food and am so happy they've opened up near us. This is definitely a go-to. It's a small place with just 4 tables, but each time we went, there were people coming in to pick up orders. It's very welcoming and the owner, Angel, is incredibly friendly and helpful. I'm so happy this place opened up close to us. The owners and employees are so friendly. They took a good amount of time explaining their menu to me. I'm very grateful for that. Cuban food is somewhat new to me. The food is fresh and hot. Even as i took it to go, the food was still hot when i got home. I was able to order a bit of everything. Their cubano, pork plate and appetizers were great. I wasn't too fond of the beef plate. But it wasn't because of quality. Just persona taste. The ambience is standard. Note... They have moved to downtown Glendale at the corner of 57th ave and Glendale. Nice outdoor patio / bar area. 1st thing you will notice how clean and immaculate the restaurant is. Sat up at the bar area and was greeted by a nice server as well as the bartender. Had an excellent cup of cafe con leche. Waiter recommend the puerco asado (pork) which was full of flavor - served with rice and beans as well. Nice size portion of all. Also ordered a side of maduro frito and the bowl that it was served in was topped off. Excellent service and the food was really good. Will be back soon to try the rest. read more

I'm hyped that I found this place on maps! Went in expecting some good Cuban food and I was not disappointed at all! We all got the Cubano sandwich and enjoyed the flavor and portion size for the price we paid. The staff was super friendly and made us feel like we entered in their own house. I understand it was busy, but we couldn't even get waters from staff after asking, we had to go to the bar to get it ourselves. other tables around us, who arrived after us, were getting their appetizers and entrees while we were still waiting. Angel, his wife and team and pushing out some of (if not) the best cuban cuisine in the city! The ropa Vieja has so much flavor and is one of the best guisados I've had. The black beans and rice were also top notch as u can taste the herbal notes of the bay leaf and sazon shine thru. The cubano sandwich was also just as good and even gave a big hot cheese pull! (Make sure and ask for extra cheese+extra toasted! ) Not to forget to mention they are some of the sweetest people I have met in the food game. Originally from Los Angeles, but came to Cubanita's for a last hurrah with some co-workers on our last day of training here in Phoenix and according to the Cuban in our group, the food was authentic and we all agreed that it was absolutely delicious. I had the Cubano sandwich and it was excellent. For the first time ever I had a Cuban coffee, something I was always afraid of because it's straight expresso. I ordered a Cafe BomBom, which had a bit of condensed milk and to my surprise, it was delicious and surprisingly sweet. The service by the owner, Angel, and his team were very welcoming and friendly. Angel added a personal touch by greeting us all and had conversations with us at the table. The ambiance was very homelike and cozy as well. In the time we were enjoying our dinner we forgot about work and that we were all away from home. We tried various restaurants every night for the week we were here, but Angel gave us by far, the best and most personable experience of all of them. My father's 83 birthday was coming up and he is not in good health. He requested a Tampa style Cubano sandwich but that is not available in the area. I contacted several other restaurants to see if they would be willing to make one as a special order. Cubanita's is the ONLY restaurant that would agree to help me out.
