It's in the name. The wontons are IT. Very traditional pork and shrimp recipe but giant and delicious. Reminds me of what I grew up on. I'd come here everyday if I could. It was PERFECT on this cold snowy afternoon. Many other traditional dim sum dishes which were just like any other dim sum. Soup dumplings were also very good. But it's the wontons that you want. Best part is that they sell these wontons frozen for you to take him. I took home 3 trays and they are incredible. Simply goes into broth that's at boiling, few minutes and they are perfect. GREAT place to go eat! This is a pretty small shop with not a ton of seating, but it seemed pretty empty and quiet when I went so we were seated quickly and attended to very well. Service was very solid and the worker there was very kind to double check our order to make sure it was correct (we had a bunch of food). Chill vibes and overall very relaxed and casual. The food didn't take too long to come out. We had the pork soup dumplings which were super juicy and delicious. Chicken cutlet was nice and tasty; crunchy and lots of sauce that makes you want more. I also ordered the braised beef stew noodle soup (forgot to take a picture, sorry!) which was a very solid noodle soup. I'd recommend it as the number one entree here. The curry fish balls were also good, but honestly the spicy wontons blew everything else away. They were decently spicy and surprisingly sweet. I was real close to getting a 2nd order of it. Parking around the area can be difficult, but there is street parking available. Additionally, there's a 2 hour parking lot nearby as well next to the Blanchards. I'd highly recommend this place. As someone who ate wonton soup all my life, I cannot be a fair judge. However, my BF said that their noodles are just decent and the soup can be more flavorful. The portion sizes are huge and it's a fairly priced bowl. That being said, I agree with him but I do think it is one of the better wonton soups in Boston. This is a new Chinese spot specializing in wontons!! They make Hong Kong-style food. The owner is so kind! It's very small with only a few tables and service is typical of that. They specialize in their gigantic wontons (hence the name) along with lots of other dishes like wonton noodle soup. For food, we got soup dumplings, spicy wontons, cumin fried wings, wonton soup, beef tripe, rice rolls, and egg yolk buns! The soup dumplings were good with delectable soup but the wrapper is a bit thick for my taste. I liked the spicy wontons a lot. The wontons were indeed gigantic and so juicy and the chili oil was great. The wings were crispy and also juicier than expected and I liked the spices. Unfortunately, I did not love the wonton soup because it was a bit bland but Hong Kong style tends to be more bland so if that's your style, it'll be right up your alley. The beef tripes were not for me.. I didn't like the texture at all. Rice rolls were very thick and very heavy but I liked the chewiness of it. I hadn't seen many places selling wonton noodles, so this was definitely a must-try. We stopped by here on a weekend around 2pm so it wasn't too busy - we were immediately seated and given menus and water. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and when we asked about the difference between the signature wontons and the HK style dumplings, they pointed out the photos on the menu and what each one was called. They both looked great, but I ended up getting the signature wontons instead since the HK style dumplings looks like a thicker skin (my partner got the HK style, and they were very similar - with maybe mushrooms added?). The food came out incredibly quickly, and they even didn't mind that my partner had brought in a bubble tea she had purchased somewhere else. Signature wonton lo mein - While this may look like plain wonton noodles with wontons on top, veggies, and a side of broth, it's one of my favorite ways to eat wonton noodles. Mixed in with the noodles is actually a salty and savory sauce (perhaps oyster sauce based?) that seasons the noodles. I mixed in some chili oil and vinegar from the table and it was just perfect. The noodles were fresh tasting and bouncy - just how I like them. The wontons were delicate and full of flavor, and the side of veggies and soup were a nice addition on top of that. The only issue stopping this from getting 5 stars is that $14 for this type of food feels a little steep. I've definitely had this meal for much cheaper in the past, but with inflation this may just be the market price. Still, it feels a little much, but the actual taste of the food was great. This is such a great addition to the Allston area! The restaurant is tiny on the inside but the staff are very quick, friendly, and attentive. I was in the mood for some wonton soup so I ordered the trio dumplings in soup ($15). It came with 6 plump wontons (3 different fillings, 2 of each), some fresh veggies, and a light but comforting broth. The wontons were super impressive. The skins were tender while the filling was plump and flavorful. Each wonton had its own unique flavor profile and I loved how there were still large-ish chunks of shrimp in the shrimp wonton. There are a lot of condiments at the table (chili oil, salt, white pepper, vinegar, soy sauce) so you can dress up the broth to your taste. I also got a salted plum spritz ($6). Its a very small shop that has maybe 5 or 6 tables. The place is brand new so it looks clean. We were seated facing outwards so I didn't get to observe what the place really looks like. There were people behind us so I didn't want to be awkwardly staring backwards and taking pictures. Oh, this place does not have air conditioning! As for their food, the menu is not huge. Come with an appetite for wonton noodle soup! The wontons are a good size, maybe slightly larger than the ones you get in chinatown (thinking of Chinatown Cafe and HK Eatery). There also are good amounts of shrimp inside. The egg noodles are cooked perfectly. 2 pieces of green veggie pieces are also included, as are some scallions. You can choose up to 2 additional "toppings" or add-ons (wontons, dumplings, brisket, etc). The broth was hot and savory -- more on the salty side for both my wife and I. The stuffed chicken wings are mostly boneless, stuffed with some shrimp. I was most excited for this but it wasn't as special as I'd hope. Just get the wonton soup. My wife and I had the 2 bowls of wonton soup with brisket, and an order of wings. With the 5% cash discount (it comes this way - they assume you are paying cash), and 18% tip, it came to $60. Afterwards, we went to pick up my daughter and her friend who ate at Spring Shabu Shabu (down the street). They also paid $60 total for the 2 of them with a plate of meat. Hmmmm....? I'm glad to have tried this place, as its different from most of the korean offerings in the area. The menu is small, but confusing.. not sure why the items listed as side dishes are mostly just the main entrees copied and pasted into the section. We ordered the spicy beef noodle soups and opted to add wontons (+$3 for two wontons) into one of the bowls. Waitstaff speak mandarin and canto but English was a bit of a language barrier. They don't automatically give you water, which I didn't mind since I was having noodle soup anyways. The beef was very tender, falling apart easily. Great braised flavor. Wontons were the highlight. Well seasoned, not salty. Thin egg noodles were chewy. The broth tho... got very salty as we were eating. I'm not sure if it's the same broth they use for the regular wonton soup but I think the added beef made it much more salty. Might be fine if ordering just the wonton noodle soup. Waitstaff doesn't really check on you. Wave them down if needed. I just walked up to the counter and paid since we were in a rush to leave. We were seated pretty quickly as the place was empty and the interior was pretty plain - sparsely decorated, but at least it was clean. The service was pretty slow - waters were rarely refilled and also the cups were distributed with differing levels of water which was definitely strange. The food also came out staggered so one of us got their entrees several minutes before the rest - not ideal. The menu had a good selection of dishes which was nice, albeit things were lackluster. The spicy wontons came out after all of our dishes and were extremely small, not living up to the restaurant name. The entrees were all right - the serving of wonton in my opinion was very small, although the size of them were pretty big. The noodles and soup were also lukewarm which left something to be desired. Their signature food is Hong Kong style wonton noodles. This is one of the rare places that offer paper thin wonton skin. Noodle is flavorful with the traditional "alkaline" taste. Even the Chinese broccoli (gai lan) is fresh and tasty. Service is quick, some may find them rushed but that's efficiency for you. Despite being such a small place it's like the servers didn't realize we hadn't ordered yet. I ordered the signature wonton noodle soup with a side order of curry fish balls, but the order got mixed up. It was an easy fix and my friend and I were able to enjoy our meal. The wontons are good and stuffed with plenty of shrimp. The thin egg noodles were okay and the broth was very light. This place is quite expensive compared to others, but being in Allston is a great location. Gigantic Wonton has been at the top of my want-to-go list ever since I saw Instagram videos featuring the wontons. We finally visited this weekend, and it definitely won't be our last visit! The restaurant is cozy, with seating for around 20 people. The service is good and the food came out quickly. We got the signature wonton noodle soup ($14), and I loved every part of this. The soup comes with 4 huge shrimp+pork wontons, a good helping of egg noodles, and warm savory soup. The wontons are truly stuffed to the brim, and the filling is high quality -- you can see the big pieces of shrimp when you bite in. They are delicious and savory. The thin egg noodles have a nice chew and pair perfectly with the soup and wontons. The Chinese broccoli is a nice touch as well. It looks like the signature wonton soup comes with 5 wontons for $15, so I think it's not a bad tradeoff to get 4 wontons + noodles for $14. We also tried the Hong Kong style dumpling soup ($14) which comes with 6 huge dumplings. The filling here is similar to the wontons but with the addition of wood ear mushroom, which add a nice crunch. I really enjoyed this dish as well. The soup tastes a bit different from the wonton soup (it kinda tastes like they cooked the dumplings directly in the soup or something), but is still good. We also got the spicy wontons ($9) which comes with 5 (not gigantic) wontons. The chili oil has a mala kick and there's also a slight sweetness in the sauce. I thought this dish was good, but I enjoyed the soups more. To wrap it all up, we got the egg custard buns ($7 for 3), which were quite tasty. I want to try the golden black phoenix bun next time! Usually when I eat wontons at restaurants, I lament the lack of filling compared to the ones we make at home. But Gigantic Wonton definitely has our homemade wontons beat in terms of filling amount. I got the wonton lo mein which comes with the soup on the side. The dry noodles allow the sauce to mix a bit better if you want to add sauce on the side. For $3 more, you can add an extra side and I added more dumplings. My wife got the wonton noodle soup and that was pretty good. It also doesn't show the green vegetable in the photo and I wasn't sure if it came with it and didn't want to pay extra but they do come with it. We got the spicy beef noodle soup with added wontons with thin egg noodles and then the lo mein with hk style wontons and thick egg noodles. The spicy beef soup was honestly one of the best I have had. It is very spicy but not too oily and I love the thin egg noodles. It came with a large amount of beef and we probably didn't need the extra two wontons because the lo mein came with 4. The lo mein was very good although would probably get something different next time. Came with 4 large wontons and soup on the side. This place is so good! It was light but also flavorful, making it easy to enjoy. My friend shared a piece of his wonton, and I enjoyed it quite a lot. I only tasted shrimp in the filling, but it was flavorful. The wrapping was thin and nice. The drinks on the other hand sucked. Instead of calling it lemon tea, they might as well say it is watered down tea. There was no lemon flavoring in it, and the tea was barely noticeable. The Hong Kong milk tea was slightly better, but it was not that fragrant to my liking. I found the flavor lacking as well and not worth the purchase. Overall, the food here is solid, but I recommend skipping the drinks. A solid three stars for me! The wontons is a must eat, but the noodles had a baking soda/baking powder taste to it. The more you ate the noodles, the bitter it became.
