Ughhhh there's so many great things I can say about the food at cucina 437 however there are so many other variables that deter me from wanting to come back. The service is awful. This could be an easy fix if they hire people over 17 to be wait staff or literally anyone who has some type of experience. The front of house is extremely inexperienced and understaffed. First off, the food here is amazing. The people are nice, but they don't really have a clue what they're doing. If you're doing take out, don't leave till you've checked your order. It's like it is your responsibility to ask them to give you every item in your order. Every time I've ordered slices I've left without them because they don't give them to you unless you remind them. The girls in the front just need a bit more training. This time my friend and I paid and stood waiting for our order for a few minutes before asking where it was, and the girl turned around and it was right there, she just didn't hand it to us till we asked for it. They are lucky the food makes up for it. In the beginning we excused this as it was new and maybe they didn't know what they were doing, but now it's just getting annoying. First of all disregard the 5 star reviews, probably family or friends. Absolutely LOVED the old Oakland Pizza Egg plant so I gave it a try at the new restaurant. Way to much bread and way to much sauce, ill never order it again. It was like a fried bread dish with some egg plant. I gave it a second try with a chicken cutlet dish. Again to much bread and it was dry and not that tender. They probably make all the chicken earlier and use it as the night goes on. The sauce was a little watery. I haven't had their pizza but with two strikes there wont be a third. The table bread was good, go figure because if you get good bread the meals are usually also good but not here. A little disappointed they missed the mark because it is so close to me. I used to go to OP frequently when they were there for years. It could have possibly been a one star. Customer service is terrible! I'm trying to be understanding during these times, but honestly there's no excuse for rude behavior. I called to order the special family meal and there's a 2pm cutoff time, I called at 2:04pm and was turned away from ordering by the girl who answered the phone. Not only did she say no, but said it so rudely. This wasn't the first rude phone call I've had with them. I called another time during quarantining to ask about a family meal of the day, and the lady who answered the phone had an attitude when I asked about the special. These times are rough and small businesses are suffering, I am trying to support them. The least they can do is treat their customers with respect. Great food and excellent service. Everything I've gotten from here has been top quality. The Sassy Drunken Grandma's Pizza is out of this world delicious. WILL NOT RETURN! I am breaking up with this regularly visited dining spot after two very poor experiences. Last night was the second time within one month where I have experienced a complete lack of customer service from this establishment. While we have patronized Cucina 347 for a few years because the pizza is really good and the food tends to be consistent; our recent experiences have been lacking in customer service, kitchen efficiency and management. Last night, we had a reservation at 6:30pm, placed our food order by 7pm and did not receive our dinner until 8:35 pm. While we were a large party, there were other large parties around us who arrived after we ordered and received their food before we did. Our patience ran out an hour into our wait and when we asked about our order were told twice in the following 30 minutes that the food was being plated. The main issue here is the lack of attention to our party as we were not even offered refills on our drinks or anything to ease our concern or our hunger while we waited. Upon expressing our concerns, nothing was done to retain our patience and patronage. As we stood to leave our food finally came out so we stayed and ate. However, my crab and angel hair pasta was not real crab but imitation crab (not in the menu description). We ate our dinner and was presented with the bill which included a 20% tip. Normally, this is appreciated, however, the waitress did not earn the tip as she was not attentive to our table. In my opinion, management is the culprit for every failure I have presented. All could have been prevented with proper standards, training and floor management. I hope they can learn from this experience and improve their onboarding and daily operational procedures. read more

Called the place and the person on the phone told me 10-15 minutes. I come in and am rudely told that they've been saying an hour and a half which they clearly did not tell me. Also I got the Buffalo chicken salad once and when I received it there were things that were not on the menu specially, it said ranch but it came out with ranch and blue cheese. The prices are a absurd for the quality of food. Do NOT recommend. read more

Got a sliced sausage pie from them a few nights ago and it was the worst thing I've ever seen and eaten. There was barely any cheese, the crust was gooey and barely cooked, and there was barely any sausage on it. Extremely disappointed that this place took the place of Oakland Pizza. They've been running some great specials weekly, that's how we found out about it. All the dinners we've tried have been very good.....I don't even think we had the pizza yet, but with all the other choices we haven't wanted to. Ate there for the first & last time today. Some of the worst pizza I ever had! Our waitress not only screwed up my order, but delivered all our food at separate times instead of all together so that we could eat together. We were seated under an AC vent which made all our food cold instantly, and the AC was so loud it was difficult to have a conversation. Also, the waitress walked away so quickly after delivering our food, so we were unable to get salt, pepper, ketchup, and other condiments which were not on the table to begin with. I want to like this place but they are a mess! The hostess has no sense of urgency to seat people. There were 5 tables glaringly open and about 15 people standing in the awkward waiting area for 20 minutes. There was one waitress. Oakland resident that just learned of this new restaurant, so I stopped in to try a pizza. Greeted by the owner Guy, he couldn't have been friendlier and took the time to run through the various pies on the menu and what sets them apart. I settled in on a Margherita pie with sausage and it was fantastic. Not sure why there are some poor reviews on here, but I'm glad I gave it a try. We will surely be back and look forward to dining in and trying some of their other meals. The dining room was nicely remodeled and was surprisingly well attended for a Wednesday at 5:30. Prices do seem a bit more than other places in town, but worth a few extra dollars if the food is consistently this good and they use good quality products. The sauce, fresh moz, & sausage were a cut above what you would typically get, so I would expect to pay a small premium. By the way, while I was waiting, the owner went above and beyond for a number of customers to ensure they were happy! read more

I stopped by there last night to see what became of the old Oakland Pizza - I took two plain slices to go and they were outstanding, solid NJ slices with perfectly crispy crust. Bergen County still has some of the best pizza in the world and this place did not disappoint. I will be back! read more

Went there with my family at 6:00pm Friday night (4 of us). The hostess dismissed us. She said she had a large party of 14 and if we didn't have a reservation, she could not seat us. We live local and had been wanting to try this new place for sometime. Our Sunday family dinner turned into a ridiculous wait for 1:30 min (did not order apps either) and with continued promises that the food will be right out. When I finally got up to inquire they said a "cook called out tonight", and I asked why is that my problem. Maybe they should not have sat our table if they can't properly service us. After promises and way too many "so sorry it will be right out" the food arrived and was disappointing as we knew the cooking was rushed. I feel really bad for the busboy who was a great kid, and the waiter. They were setup to fail by the owner and his management team. What most of us know what the right thing to do in this situation is, the opposite happened. They offered us dessert and then 20% off. If you want to make it right, have us come back for a meal on the house and show us how great you really are. From many other reviews I don't believe we are the only ones that had issues. Some of the better curated posts are obviously friends and family of the owner. Maybe Guy ( the owner) will reach out to make us an offer we can't refuse to come back on his dime. read more
