I recently attended a Funeral Buffet at this restaurant. There were about 50 people at this solemn occasion. The food was just terrible! It was not hot, there were no warming devices under any of the entrees so they cooled quickly. Chicken Parmesan was overcooked and some were even burnt, the salad was enough for about 25 people and was never replenished, coffee served in small urns and once they were empty, they were never refilled. The deserts were worse! They consisted of store bought brownie like cakes, stale lemon loaf cakes cut in small pieces, day old store bought whoopee pies cut in quarters and shortbread cookies cut in half! - no one went back for seconds! However, on a positive note, the mixed vegetables were very good but once the dish was empty, it was never replenished. There are no "do overs" when you book a restaurant for a special occasion. You only have once chance to make a first impression. I was so embarrassed for the grieving hosts. Many of the attendees, myself included, had never been to this restaurant before and I know, for sure, that no one will ever return. Don't waste your time and money! read more

Held a surprise 30th birthday here last night in their private room and everything from the ambience, service and above all the FOOD was OUTSTANDING. Despite Cucina Rustica bad reviews and the negative remarks other people had warned me about the owner Gina, and some of their staff, I still decided to rent their venue to host my Baby Shower. BEWARE!! If you choose to host a function there, get a contract!!! If they say no to a contract, RUN!!The ratchet, unprofessional owner promises one thing and then when the day of the event comes, they will not come through with what was agreed, and when asked for what was agreed on, I was verbally attacked, disrespected, humiliated in front of my family and guests. Not only did the owner Gina, verbally attacked me on the most important day of my life, didn't consider that I am 8 months pregnant and caused me to stress about unnecessary things that could have been easily fixed with proper and professional communication. She almost ruined my night! I do have to say, their food is good, so despite the horror movie I experienced with the owner Gina, and Kelly the waitress, that was the only good thing about my night. I was mortified to hear my guests of 58, tell me that the waitress Kelly was so unpleasant and unprofessional to deal with. Also, their Bar ran out of beer and didn't have many options stocked. Now I see that what people say about the owners is true. I am still in disbelief that the owner of such a nice looking establishment will go out of her way to talk to their customers like crap and belittle them in such a disgusting way! I will never recommend Cucina Rustica to anyone I love, because of fear that they will be attacked and have their special night ruined! read more

This is a mistake I went in the back room where my party was seated first off smells awful mess everywhere uncleaned dishes on almost all tables bad service. The water tasted like dirty tap water. Took 45min to get a drink. The bread took 30 min to get and the butter tasted like sugar and it ruins it. The appetizer took 1 hour and was ok not amazing but not worth 1 hour. Over all don't go here for a special occasion but just for a hopefully quick dinner. read more

Had dinner at Cucina Rustica last night with great friends. Honestly it was the most delicious meal I have had in a very long time. Even my husband was overwhelmed by how much he loved it. Our server Kate was marvelous. They even have flavored lemon water served as you sit! I highly recommend visiting this restaurant on Atwood Ave in Cranston. Gina and Kelly will treat you right. I don't always give a 5 but this restaurant is amazing cook to order. I've only been there once and granted it wasn't that busy. I would recommend making reservations if you plan on a Friday or Sat night. The Salmon, Risotto dish was off the charts. nice homemade bread with Whipped Butter. Great fountain for those who love soda. They give a complimentary dessert wine after the meal. The antipasto meat and cheese platter was very good quality. Looking forward to trying another dish. Just had dinner there. Lovely setting. They have half portions of pasta, which were very generous. The menu is somewhat limited, but has something for everyone, including vegetarians. The service wasn't great. Our waitress seemed uninterested in us, always needing to be asked for water, etc. But overall was a good experience. read more

Just enjoyed a mid week dinner at Cucina Ructica. I had the prime ribeye steak cooked to medium an that's the way it was presented at the table. My wife had the salmon special of the night and it was wonderful with the homemade pasta. The wine bottle was a little pricey but was acceptable with other local restaurant pricing. Mike our waiter was attentive to our needs and was not pushey with the attention. Bryan the chef was pleasant with his delivery of our meal as he personally delivered it to our table, I'm sure was an extra service not always provided. My mom, friend and I had Thanksgiving at Cucina Rustica. The restaurant is so pretty and the atmosphere was perfect. Quiet and enjoyable. Our waitress was awesome. Wow, So much better then i expected! A friend and i stopped in here this past Sunday night for a quick bite. I specifically did not check Yelp beforehand because i wanted to form my own opinion without any influence of others. The original plan was drinks and an appetizer. But once we saw the menu and heard the specials we decided to order dinner. Where do i begin.... First off, great atmosphere. Warmly lit and beautiful decor. Comfortable and ample seating. Our hostess was also the bar tender and waitress and she did a phenomenal job. Knew all about the menu and the specials and was very attentive to us and the other guests. We had the meatball appetizer which was a huge home made meatball made for sharing as well as a large mixed green salad. Both were great. I had a dinner special that was a layers of chicken, eggplant and mozzarella cheese smothered in their home made red sauce. It came with a side of home made pasta that tasted like it was literally made to order. And the tomato sauce was so good i i was spooning on to each bite. I forget the name of this special but it was incredible. I am seriously considering making a trip back to this place for this dish alone. My friend had Lobster Ravioli that i sampled and despite not being a big seafood fan i could have eaten all of it! The portions by the way were quite large. Not "family style" Italian where 3 people can share one plate. But generous enough that we both had to get "To go" boxes. Plenty of fresh bread with sweet butter and the chef himself bringing our food out to the table rounded out the meal and made for an amazing visit. We both had mixed drinks that were made perfectly and were also offered complimentary Sambuca shots afterwards. The prices were very reasonable considering the overall quality of the meal. Two specials, plus the appetizer and 5 mixed drinks came to around $86.00 if i recall. And again, the portions are excellent. I have paid a lot more for dinners of lesser quality that had portions so small i left the restaurant still hungry. I WILL be coming back to this place. read more

Worst dining experience I have ever had. We will never be coming back. This place hit the hat trick of sucking. First of all almost 2 hours to get our entrees. Second the server was missing for most of the dinner, we had to ask multiple other servers for bread and water while we waited with a 2 year old. She didn't come over to our table for at least an hour to inform us what was happening. And finally the ownership was not much better than the server. They were at the bar sitting down most of the time instead of helping the waitstaff and kitchen. They eventually came to the table about 1:45 minutes into waiting, to say thank you for your patience. Never even offered to get us a glass of water or take the appetizer we waited 45 minutes for off the bill. Nothing! The sad part is the food was actually very good, but the food cannot make up for the terrible service. This place will fail if it is not addressed quickly. read more

We should have seen the signs on the wall when we entered and it was extremely noisy (two very large loud parties- one sat right in the middle of the dining room and HOT (it was 87 degrees outside that day so they should have had A/C on) but we took a chance. The server took a good 5-10 minutes to first greet us (busboys should drop bread and water as soon as the party is seated) and then was in and out because she had too many tables, then the food took at least a half an hour. The food was nothing stellar, but ok for Cranston. My husband had a margarita pizza (it came without tomatoes and basil???) Wait, what??? The whole idea behind a margarita pizza is the slices of tomato and basil on top. If they think it's ok for "their version" to not include those,it's not! It's ok to have your version of a dish, but it has to maintain the essence of the original!!! Then to make matters worse, the outer crust of the pizza was substantially burnt (BLACK!) but the server said it was because of the oven they use a wood fired oven which I know, but there was still no reason for so much of it to be charred. They also over cheesed and under sauced (a cardinal sin to a great pizza) the pie. Also, the cheese was bland and didn't taste like a good quality mozzarella. Can you tell that it was an extremely poorly executed pizza? I had the meatball sandwich with truffle fries. The meatball was big but didn't have much flavor and the fries were greasy, barely warm and I couldn't taste the truffle at all! The guys in the kitchen were sweating their butts off too and you could see them wiping off the sweat from their face with their fingers, then continue to work (yuk!). I complained to the owner about the food, but instead of her apologizing and taking in what I said, she immediately took a "defensive" mode, which is probably why I took the time to write this review and wouldn't give them another chance. read more

My wife and I went to dinner with friends @ Cucina Rustics last night and I must say everyone really loved their meal...Our food was prepared by the chef in the open kitchen...All our meals came out piping hot made with totally fresh ingredients just as we ordered...The waitress was wonderful..anything we asked for was at our table in seconds...The chef came out to introduce himself and we greeted him with compliments...The waitress came to our table with complimentary cordial drinks after our meal...and we also enjoyed the strolling guitarist singer Nino who came to our table and sang to us...I must say Cucina Rustica is now on my list of favorite restaurants in RI..We will be back soon...Thankyou.. read more

Our only concern was that they were having a party in the a joining room and allowed 8 and 9 year children to enter our dining area and run around and sit and order soda at the bar and no one from the restaurant addressed the issue. I won't be going back. Very bad experience. The waitress was overbearing when we were trying to read the menu. She asked us at least 5 times within 5 minutes if we were ready to order. It was new to us, we never saw the menu before. She was almost at the point of being 'pushy'. After she took our order it was 'POOF' she pulled a disappearing act. We got our meals, they were just ok, not bad but nothing to brag about. My water glass was empty, no one refilled it. The busboy asked if he could wrap anything for us. At least he was paying attention. Then we sat and sat and sat some more. We wanted espresso and cappuccino and maybe dessert. But we waited. Our waitress kept walking by us saying she would be right with us. then she passed again and again. A half hour passed. Finally fed up, my husband called the waitress over, for the second time, and asked for the check. She looked surprised and said 'no coffee or dessert'. I replied, 'we wanted coffee and dessert, but we waited so long we don't want it now.' She rolled her eyes, huffed off and brought out check. She is lucky she got 15%. We usually tip 20% or better, but she deserved less than she got. To add to our displeasure, we watched as the waitress went around to every table around us offering a complimentary Sambucca, and yes, you guessed it, she never offered us any. My husband would have wanted a glasses, but he never was offered any. He still insists we were overcharged by a few dollars, but I wanted to get out of there and didn't add the check. I just said, 'let's go, we won't be back here for sure'. Overall, a very bad dining experience. Unless you have all night to wait for your waitress, don't bother to go here. If you want really good food, don't bother to go here. With so many good, local restaurants around, the food and service here put it on my 'don't bother to go back' list. Also note, the music was too loud. It sounded more like a nightclub than a relaxing atmosphere. I am being king by rating it fair. It should be poor, but thanks to the nice busboy, I'll go with fair and never return here. read more

Excellent experience!! My girlfriend and I have eaten here on several occasions and it only gets better each time! This visit we went with my parents and my 19 yr old daughter for dinner and had a great night. A duo was setting up to play music as we entered the restaurant. We mentioned to the owner that I was recovering from a concussion and could not tolerate loud music. She graciously asked the musicians to keep the music at a quieter level. The music was perfect! My father was without one of his hearing aids and was able to follow the conversations at the table and enjoy the wonderful music without difficulty. We all enjoyed the Calamari appetizer and for the entree's we all loved our meals!! All took home "lunch for tomorrow" including my father who usually always finished his meal. Service was very attentive and personable. Our waitress even noticed my mother removing the onions from her salad and offered to get her another salad since they are all made to order. Went there for the first time last night prior to going to a show at the Park Theater. I had the Sunday Gravy and my wife had a pasta dish- both were outstanding and served piping hot! Mine came with a salad which was very fresh and my wife started with a delicious spinach salad. Our waitress was perfect- didn't ignore us at all but also wasn't at our side every five minutes. With the open kitchen set up we could easily see how hard the chefs were working and another thing struck us- every single staff member was hustling the entire time we were there- that goes for the owner as well as she was delivering meals. She also came to our table to be sure we had a good experience which we thought, given how extremely busy they were, was a nice touch. Only slight negatives were they ran out of the house featured wine and not enough peas in my wife's sausage and peas dish. So glad I ordered the Sunday Gravy- it was spectacular. We ordered the box of desserts to go and they also were very good. Can't wait to go back! Great job folks! read more

I was so anticipating coming to this restaurant that maybe a buffett on Easter wasnt the right day to go. We got there for a noon time reservation and couldnt get to the line (food wasnt ready) until 12:40. The table for 5, my wife, myself, and my three teenage children, was appropriate for four people but we were ok with that. After our first trip, we waited 20 minutes for the table to be cleared so I did it myself, and then cleared it again for a second time. When the bill arrived there was a 40 manditory gratuity that was never told to us at any time prior or during the so called brunch. When I approached the hostess about the table clearing as well as the manditory gratuity, I informed her that being in the business for years we were a good tipper anyway. At that juncture she removed the tip and became very confrontational telling me that our server cleared the table which never happened. This was the cause of the server to recieve a zero gratuity, she can thank the hostess.The bread was stale and there were no apps or breakfast items at the buffett that was explained to my wife. I even looked at the website the day prior to check the menu and it said "coming". When was it coming? the day after Easter. This was a complete disaster from the moment we arrived to the time we left, Thank you for making this a sorrowful day for my family espically my Daughter who flew in from D.C. to eat with us on thisvery special holiday. read more
