Located on the outskirts and other side of Mountain View, close to Googleplex, Microsoft and right across the street from Shoreline Theatre lies this nice Italian inspired gem. It is merely about 2 miles from downtown Mountain View, adjacent 101 and towards the Shoreline Amphitheatre and Shoreline Park. So without a doubt a great location! So for me Italian food is my space given I have eaten it all my life since my paternal grandparents were direct from Puglia Italy. I always look for authenticity and ambiance when it comes to Italian food, and this for the most part did not let me down. Where it had me confused was a couple of items that were on the menu that are not necessarily Italian but Spanish, such as the Spanish octopus and the signature and national dish of Spain which is Paella. So honestly, this sort of confused me. I feel I can speak on this end too because my maternal side grandparents are from Spain. Now given Italian and Spanish food are not miles apart, however they sort of in some senses with their culinary influences, Spanish having more of a Moorish and Arabic twist on some things. Once I got over that I was fine. The service here is very nice, the ambiance is great as well as the food. I would most certainly say that be it lunch or dinner you will not be disappointed. Go in with the mindset that this is not, I repeat not a pizza establishment or inexpensive Italian American experience! Understand that this is a fine dining establishment. Best way I would categorize is high class Italian inspired cuisine on the SF Peninsula meets Silicon Valley. I am certain that it will leave you inspired and charmed. What would I recommend that you give a try? Truthfully it all depends on your palate and what you like, however what did catch our taste buds were the flatbread with sausage and honey, the Caesar salad, Fettuccine Carbonara and the Salmon. I got a the angel hair pasta with tomato sauce and it was ok but I could have made it at home. To "shake it up" I asked for burrata to be added and they charged me $16 for it which I knew they'd add a charge but $16 felt crazy. I ended up paying about $40ish just for that meal and I didn't have left overs so I would never go there again. I went bc it was a birthday dinner for a good friend and the bill for 6 of us was about $500. We got two apps to share and everyone got their own main dish. I thought the bruchetta was good and their free bread was good too but nothing to write home about. Two ppl got the lamb and loved it but I didn't try it so idk. I stumbled upon this place on Yelp when looking to branch out from San Jose restaurants. I was not disappointed. We opted to sit on the patio where we were seated next to a heater and surrounded by beautiful hanging chandlers. Second to the atmosphere the staff was excellent. Although my fiancé found his main entree of Fettuccini with Duck Confit bland and disappointing, we both loved the plump, garlicky Sizzling Prawn appetizer, and I thought my entree of Halibut Filet entree was outstanding. I especially loved the side of Black Truffle Risotto which managed to taste rich and creamy but somehow still light. We also both agreed that the slice of Chocolate Hazelnut cake we shared was excellent. The one strange thing was bread service. Small rolls were brought around fresh and hot for delivery without any butter or dipping oil. They were good, but could have been better. Cucina Venti's main issue which won't allow a 5 from me is pricing. I have to agree with the many other reviews stating that the high prices are simply not warranted by the experience. Alcohol especially is priced WAY too high for what you receive. I felt guilty ordering a light pour of Pinot Noir when the glass, while good, was no better than entire bottles I've bought for less. We came here for a work sponsored dinner, and were pleased by the sophisticated atmosphere with a back room that allowed for presentations. I was happy with the cocktails, which were classic and inventive. We tried the Duck Confit Fettuccine, which was a rich, flavorful creamy pasta dish. The Bone-In Roasted Chicken was a smaller portion and the chicken was a bit dry. The Mushroom Ravioli was similarly a small portion and I wish that this dish had been more seasoned. For appetizers, we tried the Bruschetta and the arugula salad, which were both fresh, crisp, and flavorful. Service-wise, our food took a long time to come out and was somewhat cold by the time we tried it. However, the general service was pretty accommodating, and they were able to box up our desserts to-go so we could enjoy them at home. Overall, the experience was average, with some details keeping it from being a 5-star experience. Some dishes could have used a touch more seasoning, and the pacing of the courses felt delayed at times. That said, the venue allowed for a good work dinner. read more

No children allowed, they said. Just like that. No apology. No compassion. No willingness to listen. We tried to explain. This wasn't a casual dinner--we had a reason for being there, and we weren't trying to disrupt anyone. But they wouldn't budge. What hurt the most wasn't just the policy--it was how they chose to enforce it. Three men towering over a group of women, speaking to us like we were a problem. As women of color, we've all felt that tone before: dismissive, cold, indifferent. It brought back memories of times we've been made to feel small, like we didn't belong. We walked out feeling humiliated. Not because we broke a rule--we didn't even know there was one--but because our humanity was so casually ignored. We weren't treated like guests. Made reservations here for a Saturday night. The place wasn't hard to find and had lots of parking. They have both outdoor and indoor seat and we opted for indoor. The staff here are really nice. I wanted to try their pesto tortellini. Didn't know it was into served during lunch. However, our waiter asked the kitchen and they said they could stay make it for us. How nice of them! We ordered the calamari as appetizers and each got a pasta. But both agreed that the food wasn't that special. Rather spend the money elsewhere. Brought my MIL here for her 65th birthday dinner and had such an amazing experience! I booked a relatively early reservation online...so when we arrived there was ample parking and the restaurant was still a bit quiet. LOVED the interior which was def. a very intimate, romantic, and fancy vibe - also really LOVED that there were no young kids allowed in the main dining, since it really did set the right tone for everyone to enjoy their dinner (Perf place for a date night). They do have outdoor seating (with heat lamps) which is where kids are allowed which totally makes sense. Menu had a variety of options, but is mainly focused on Italian and some New American touches. They have a great COCKTAIL menu as well as a nice wine list (but ofc I'd opt for the cocktail =). Our service was amazing throughout the night; there was a cute little "Happy Bday" sign on the table and our waiter made great recommendations and checked on us throughout our meal. The manager, John also made our drinks for the night which were sooooo good, & went out of his way to check on us which we really appreciated. Let's Dig In: (1) Comp House Bread - these beautiful little rustic pillows were amazing! They had great flavor and were not just simply covered up in butter. Great crust/crunch, while the inside had what looked like little olive pieces throughout, + yummy sprinkled cheese on top. (2) Octopus - was DELISH! The octopus was super tender with a nice slight char to them - BUT what really stood out was the complimentary vinaigrette salad on the side that just brightened up each bite. (3) Lamb riblets - this was my FIRST time having baby little lamb riblets and will NOT be my last. It was one of the most memorable lamb dishes I've ever had. The exterior was so crispy, but still so tender at the same time. Great flavor as well! But that texture is something I'll never forget. (4) Caesar Salad - was very tasty! Dressing was flavorful but not overbearing, while they def. packed on the cheese which gave great texture and richness to the overall. (5) Lambchops - this was also SOOO GOOOD. Mind you I'm not even a lamb fan, I usually don't enjoy lamb since it's too gamey. But they're just doing something so right here with how they're cooking it. The Lamb chops were so flavorful and tender; also good portion size as well. The roasted potatoes were also amazing, they were like thick steak cut fries with the perf. crispy exterior but soft pillow-y interior. (6) Ribeye - cooked perfectly and had a great herb butter sauce on top! Pretty large piece which was great for sharing + those delish roasted potatoes again were the best pairing. (7) Duck confit pasta - also tasty. The duck was shredded to smaller pieces so the pasta still had that great duck flavor but thankfully wasn't overly salty as most duck dishes tend to be. The pasta was cooked perfectly, while the sauce was creamy but still light enough to let the duck shine. (8) Mushroom Ravioli - one of my FAVESSS. The mushroom filling is something really unforgettable...topped with more buttery sautéed mushrooms, and then doused in a creamy mushroom sauce. We also added fresh truffle shavings for $35 which was just the perfect touch. A MUST for any mushroom fanatic like me. (9) Dessert - tiramisu was good! Light and airy with a good amount of cocoa and coffee flavors to it. We also had a comp. bday desert which was like a hazelnut chocolate cake - super rich and also tasty. (10) Libations - I had the LYCHEE MARTINI which was perfect...Great lychee flavor without being overly sweet, but still boozy in all the right ways. "Wow, oh my gosh! This is the best lunch I've had in ages!" This was my internal dialogue while dining at Cucina Venti. This restaurant is absolutely fantastic. I need to give a special shout out to Victor/Viktor; a true hospitality professional who cares about his craft. He is so warm and outgoing, he is attentive to the table needs without being intrusive. All of the staff showed warmth and kindness but Victor is special. Thank you, Victor. I ate Zucchini Fritters, Margherita Flatbread, Caesar Salad, Penne Pasta, their Salmon Entree and two, stunning desserts, Chocolate Nocciolato and Creme Brulee. I capped it off with an Espresso and the food was remarkable. This restaurant is tucked away and I didn't know it was there. More people should know about it and I hope this review encourages people to check it out. I'm going back and trying more of the food and l know Victor and his team will give me another great experience. Great ambience, superb service and good food. I love how they start off with warm bread and a divine dip :) I really liked their appetizers, we tried a salad and their arancini balls. We tried the gnochi and mushroom ravioli for the main course. Both were great but I could use more seasoning and salt. their pizza (Margarita) was strictly okay, and I'd give it a skip the next time. Drinks were allright. We didnt have desserts, maybe we will save that for the next time we visit. Simply delicious! All the plates I tried today taste flavorful and sophisticated. Definitely one of my favorite Italian restaurant experiences. The scallops were cooked and seasoned well, plus the sauce, mushroom, and garnishing complements it well. The Black Truffle Risotto was very flavorful, with different kinds of mushrooms topped with black truffle shavings. The Angel Hair Pasta is smooth to eat, just enough tomato acidity, with chunks of tomatoes. The service was good. Bread was served while waiting for our first plate. Food came out at a decent pace. They have a good number of staff were professional during service. The ambiance is rustic Italian indeed. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Totally a delightful lunch meal. The plates are a bit on the pricey side, but the food were satisfying and thus justifiable once in a while. The soda is $7+ though, and the iced tea at $9, those are a bit hard to justify, so might have to just stick with the cocktails ($20+) and tap water next time. Me and my sisters decided to try this place for a night cap and desserts. First , When you walk in the place is very fancy and well decorated. Very nice outdoor patio with heaters and the service and staff were nice. Once we sat down, we changed our mind and wanted to take a look at the menu. We decided to get some appetizers so we got the mushroom flatbread and the zucchini rolls. Both items not great at all! The Trader Joe's mushroom flatbread is like 10 times better and 1/8 of the price! Extremely overpriced and may have been OK if the food was actually decent, but it tasted like they popped it out of the freezer and warmed it up. We decided to order two drinks so the waiter said that they had a special going on for a passionfruit margarita. They brought us two drinks in a tiny cup with a huge ball of ice so basically it was like three sips then charged us $30 each drink! We could not believe it! Absolutely insane for a drink we took three sips of that they didn't even state the price of. They asked if we wanted bottled water or tap so of course we chose bottled and I could not believe when we got the check that they charged us $13 for a bottle of water. Last we decided to order an espresso drink with ice cream. The ice cream obviously had freezer burned because there was pieces of ice inside. It was disgusting. On the way out the waiter decided to give us $15 back because they felt bad for not letting us know how much the margaritas were which was nice but I still felt like we were robbed after spending $200 on two appetizers two drinks and two desserts and being very disappointed. Fine dining in a very unexpected place. Tucked into the corner of a random, ordinary looking strip mall is Cucina Venti. Once inside, it is a completely different vibe. We came for dinner with friends which do typically do once a month. We are all empty-nesters and are always looking for a place to have a nice, relaxing dinner. Did I mention that Cuncina Venti does not allow kids under 10 for indoor dining? More fine dining establishments should offer this option. Their cocktail menu was innovative yet a tad pricey. The food menu was a variety of classic favorites and modern fusion italian dishes. There was literally something for everyone in our party of 6 to eat, even the picky one. Dessert was pretty basic. The appetizer with chef's special is already the size of the main course. Afterwards, we consulted with the waiter about the main course choices. We chose chicken lamb chops and scallops. Our aim was to taste every flavor. The lamb chops that came in the appetizer plate was the main course for the second time. Everything is really overpriced. The food is delicious, but the main course of scallops is the same size as the appetizers everywhere. Definitely a dish to add to the appetizers.
