I came today without reservations for myself and they were very accommodating which I appreciated. I got the complimentary "chips and dip" no cutlery, no napkin. When I am given the cutlery I had to ask someone else for a napkin. Those items should come together and since I was a party of one it should come quickly. I ordered the Ceviche Tostada which was tasty as an appetizer. My main course was supposed to be grilled branzino, there was no way that fish was grilled with soft skin, and no grill marks. It tasted as if it were broiled and grilled as advertised. Thoroughly disappointed since Monday I had grilled branzino at Oceana and it was prepared perfectly. Once my meal was complete I had to wait 11 minutes for dessert which was tasteless - fruit plate and vanilla whipped cream. I came to see if I could recommend Cuerno to my C-Level bankers who dine out often with our clients. Sadly I cannot. Perhaps I will come back, but the jury is still out about that. The photo probably would have helped my point of broiled versus grilled but I was so disappointed with the presentation and taste that I forgot. read more

I have been to Cuerno twice - my first visit a few weeks ago was terrific (both food/service). My second visit was on Sunday and mixed (food generally good/service bad - probably some of the worst service I've ever had, but rectified by Cuerno's manager). I work two blocks away, so either way, I'll be back. First visit: Quick after work stop for drinks and snacks. As such, we just ordered cocktails, guac and the queso. All were excellent; service was friendly and efficient. Second visit: Sunday evening for a late dinner with a friend in town. Lighter meal as it was later in evening - we ordered the guacamole, chicharron de pulpo (octopus), Caesar salad, tacos richi (ribeye) and the tableside tacos taquero (skirt steak with bone marrow). Notwithstanding that I specifically asked our waitress to please course the meal at a sensible pace (ie appetizers first), ALL the food arrived at once EXCEPT for the chips for the guacamole. While our waitress had reassured us she "was taking care" of the situation, literally every course showed up within minutes, including the tableside tacos taquero -- when I told the taco server, please, we'd like to eat some of the appetizers first, he was a bit testy and insisted "chef says not to wait or this will get cold" -- we relented but it was clearly a mistake, because the bone marrow steak tacos, along with everything else, got cold quickly. With this firehose of food, the greatest irony was that we had to wait - and ask many times - for chips for the guacamole. After asking our waitress 4 times, we asked another server, but the chips still did not appear. By that time, it was about 20 minutes (I have NEVER waited so long for chips which should be instant), fed up with the rest of the food arriving prematurely but not the chips, I went inside to chase down a manager. After speaking to someone, our waitress then finally showed up with the chips. To Cuerno's credit, a manager came to our table - he BROUGHT MORE CHIPS for our guac, listened and acknowledged that clearly, there was a miscommunication between our waitress and the kitchen. Asked what he could do to make it right, offered to redo the tacos or anything else. At that point, we asked for a "do-over" of the octopus chicharron appetizer as it had been sitting there and now cold (since it had been brought out concurrently with the tacos and everything else instead of properly coursed). All that said, the manager really restored the credibility of our experience. Our waitress may have just been way off that night - or had hearing issues - as one example, toward end of meal, she asked my friend if he wanted more soda. When he said "I'm good", she said "great, I'll get you another" - it turns out she had thought he said "I would" (?!! ). All the food that actually came out hot was good. The tacos taquero which are social media gold got cold fast (due to rushed service) and were totally average. Maybe they would have tasted better still warm, but who knows. Anyway - I will be back as I work in the area. 3 stars for great first visit, diluted by bad service on our second visit. read more

This was a new restaurant for us and we will be back again on our next trip to NYC! It was FANTASTIC. We split the Tacos Callejeros which were scrumptious as an appetizer. Great flavor and amount of meat. Our entree which we split was the Corazon De Filete which was mouth watering great. Cooked perfectly and they cut into slices for us which made it much easier to share. You have to get the Verduras Al Grill which is an assortment of grilled vegetables. Sounds blah, but we have never had the assortment of vegetables that we were presented with. It appears to be very seasonal and definitely not to be missed. Service was exceptional (Henry) was helpful and attentive. We had a show to catch so he kept an eye on us without making you feel rushed. My only wish is that they would open in Atlanta. Till then this is a DEFINITIVE dining stop for us in NYC. read more

This is a great place to have drinks with your coworker at the bar. The restaurant is gorgeous and packed with people meeting up for drinks after work. I had dinner with my friends and the food was really good. The tacos are excellent. The tomahawk steak fed four hungry girls and the cocktails were yummy. Great place to hang out with your friends. The Taco Taquero bone marrow tacos aren't worth the money so skip those and get regular tacos. The Corazón de Filete filet mignon was great and the Pastel de Campechanas (traditional Mexican puff pastry, vanilla ice cream, pecans, dulce de leche) dessert was incredible! This is the best Mexican restaurant I've been to outside of Mexico. Wow, where to start. We started with guac and an elevated queso fundito that was absolutely to die for, and then had the hamachi appetizer which was even better - absolutely magical flavors there. For dinner, four of us shared a variety of tacos, and the ribeye steak. The rib-eye had incredible seasonings and melted in our mouths. The tacos were elevated, looked stunning and tasted even better. Cocktails all on point. Only small ding was that our reservation was 830 and didn't get seated til 915. That said, they put us at a bar table where we got drinks and first round of appetizers. And given we weren't in a rush, it didn't bother us. Had a surprise dinner at Cuerno last evening. What a surprise!! Just absolutely fabulous food all around. But the steak Tuetano was BY FAR the best steak I've ever, ever had. It was flavorful, tender and truly just the best. And I've eaten at steak houses around the world. We also had short ribs, the Mexican corn and broccoli. My girlfriend and I have been to cuerno often because it's one of her favorite restaurants from her home town in Mexico. The food as always was fantastic as well as the cocktails. Recently was the first time we got a table on the bottom floor and though it was lovely the service was really lacking compared to other visits. We had to wait more than 15 minutes for tortillas, salsa and a check having to ask multiple people multiple times and our waiter wasn't even the one that ended up helping us as we had to ask others most of the time. A little disappointed after this most recent visit but we will still be going back just hoping for better luck with service. read more

Four hosts stood by the door, but no one offered to take our coats. In New York, on a cold day, that's a basic courtesy--especially for a restaurant trying to present itself as fine dining. Good service begins at the door, and here it felt like an afterthought. After being seated, we waited fifteen minutes for water, which set a tone of inattention. I placed our order as soon as someone approached, worried we might be in for more delays. Midway through the guacamole, a server apologized for forgetting the sauces that should have accompanied it--an unnecessary miss that undercut an otherwise excellent dish. Later, our waitress reached across me to clear unused place settings without so much as an "excuse me," interrupting a conversation and adding to the sense of disjointed hospitality. The result was a low hum of chaos that bled into the guest experience, making what should have felt polished instead feel unsettled. Bottom line The kitchen is doing impressive work--thoughtful, layered, and genuinely delicious. But the front-of-house needs to match that standard with warmth, organization, and attention to detail. If the service and operations come up to the level of the food, this could be a standout destination. Right now, it's a terrific meal wrapped in an frustrating service experience. I usually don't knock off points for service/atmosphere as I typically care most about food and drink quality but I had to make an exception here. We had a 7:30pm reservation for a Friday night and were seated promptly. We were not close to the entrance of the restaurant at all, but every time someone entered / exited the restaurant we felt the cold air from outside. It was uncomfortably freezing throughout the entire dinner. People at other tables were wearing their winter jacks the whole meal. Service was also just OK. The food was spaced out slightly longer than what it should have been but we were ok with having more of a longer dining experience so that was only an issue because we were so cold and wanted to get out of the restaurant. Well we, a party of 10 went to Cuervo for dinner this past Saturday 8/23. Just when you think an establishment was already great, we were pleasantly pleased to see a great thing rise to a beautiful leave of superb. From the moment we entered we were greeted by Marcella a dear who escorted us to the perfect table for ten, round with a lazy Susan so we could all interact with each other. Just the beginning , here comes Dyana which we adore, greeted us with her beautiful smile and remembered our diet issues and preferences. And the fun begins with delicious trays of the best Mexican salsa's and the most amazing home made triangles of delish corn also know as chips but in this case too good to be called chips, that said at least 4-5 trays were devoured by all. Oh, here comes the tequila bar, run by the talented Ernesto, also the beverage director, he asked what we liked and suggested Casa Noble, absolutely divine, smooth and delicious, even the non tequila drinkers were in awe, yummm. Then came the apps chicharron de pulpo, crudo de hamachi, guacamole and ?? all gone and hummed about. Next more deliciousness, Tacos callejero ,gringa portobello, tacos vaquero,ribeye a la sal, Corazon de fillete, pescado zarandeado, fideo de poro asado, papas ajillo, ensalada cuerno, tortilla soup :) happy happy were we, but there's more, yes the desserts, also all devoured because we were already full. and last but not least, Tobais who gave us his undivided attention throughout the evening, making sure we had everything we needed.
