The food was very good overall -- I'd rate it 9/10. Great variety on the menu, delicious chips and salsas, and the cauliflower our server recommended was excellent. Prices were reasonable as well, especially when sharing dishes. However, the first impression at the host stand wasn't great. I had called to say I was running late and one of my guests arrived before me, but he was simply met with a hand gesture and told "wait at the bar." When the rest of us arrived, the host left me and my six guests standing in the hallway by the bar, right in the entrance, without directing us to a proper waiting area or asking us to move -- which felt uncomfortable since we were clearly in the way. I understand that arriving late can disrupt reservations, and as someone who also works in hospitality I'm very aware of that. But in a city like New York delays happen, and the host's role should still be to welcome guests rather than make them feel uncomfortable. Came for an annual Christmas lunch with some friends and I so enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. first and foremost It's situated right across from radio city music hall, so it was incredibly festive. It was nice to still see all the Christmas lights up despite it being January 2nd. the restaurant is very pretty low lighting. we saw that they have like a specialty lunch menu that's $39 for a three course menu and you get a lot of food for an incredible price. Everything that we ate was absolutely delicious starting with the appetizer which was the beef taco absolutely delicious then moving on to my entrée I had the milanesa, which is a fried and battered steak and that was also really good despite me never having tried something like that before, but the thing that was incredible was the drinks I had like a Mezcal margarita but it had like some candied steak in it that you could chew while also drinking the drink and so I really really enjoyed that overall I'll definitely be back. Beautiful experience. From beginning to end. Walked in early and needed a seat at the packed bar while i waited for my friend. The hostess made sure to move someone who was occupying two seats so that i could get one. Bartender Elliot (sp) was so friendly and his drinks were amazing. Wow! Cuerno has quickly become our favorite restaurant in the city. We've now been five times and it is consistently great. The atmosphere, food, drinks, and entire management team are wonderful (especially Frutos)! We tried several drinks and they were ok. There are two floors and the first floor has a great ambiance and decor. If possible, make a reservation so you don't get seated in the basement. I came to Cuerno for a friend's birthday dinner with a group of girls, and overall, we left feeling underwhelmed. I made the reservation specifically noting it was for a birthday, but it was never acknowledged. It may seem small, but when you choose a restaurant for a celebration, those details matter. There were also a few execution issues throughout the night. We were sent shots (which we later realized someone in our party had ordered), but instead of charging us for the reposado that was requested, the bill reflected Don Julio 1942 -- nearly double the price. We had to catch and correct that ourselves. The first round of drinks was also poorly made and had to be sent back. Once remade, they were significantly better. For a restaurant at this price point, however, that level of inconsistency is disappointing -- especially when cocktails are $20+. The most frustrating issue was with our takeaway food. We ordered both a ribeye and a filet and asked for the remaining portions -- which were on the same plate -- to be packed together with the roasted garlic. When we got home, only the ribeye was included. The remaining filet was missing entirely. Since both steaks were on the same plate, it's unclear how one was packed and the other wasn't. It was disappointing to realize that part of a steak we paid for simply wasn't there. To be clear, our servers themselves were kind and attentive. (Thank you JP & Daniel) The issues seemed more operational than personal. All three of us work in hospitality, so we understand how busy nights can go. Despite the hiccups, we still chose to pay our hospitality forward and invited both of our servers to dine at our restaurant so we could take care of them the way we know how. That said, between the billing error, the drink inconsistency, the missing food, and the lack of birthday acknowledgment, the overall experience didn't match the expectations set by the ambiance and pricing. For a restaurant positioning itself at this level, attention to detail is everything -- and unfortunately, that's where the experience fell short. read more

Love this place! Have been twice now and the experience has been excellent both times. Great service and menu selections, we went for a birthday and sat downstairs. The staff was very attentive and made sure to honor the occasion. Complimentary chips & homemade salsas give the traditional Mexican restaurant feel at a high-end steakhouse. Also enjoyed the guacamole as an edition. Portions are large, so I would suggest trying a few taco dishes as a table and then splitting an entree. Taco Taquero is a signature dish where they make the tacos table side, but if you like marrow I would suggest the Ribeye con Tuétano. Also have enjoyed the Arrachera as an entree. A culinary delight! Everything was exceptional... The food, the service, the drinks all hit the mark and exceeded expectations. As a Texan it is hard to find Mexican food outside of Texas that makes an impression, but Cuerno leaves a mark that will not be forgotten. First, thank you Fredy for taking care of us last night. Your recommendations and attentiveness were very much appreciated. As for the drinks, the Paloma was refreshing and I requested an Old Fashioned with Don Julio Reposado and they nailed it! There were three shining stars during our visit: First, you should not miss the Coliflor Trufa Habanero! This dish is the absolute best cauliflower dish I have ever experienced! The flavors in this dish are well balanced and unique. Again, this is a must try! Secondly, the Arrachera Nortena paired with the Pura de Papa are two menu items you should not pass up. I know a lot of people come here for the Tomahawk Steak and if you need that to feel special then go for it, but if you want a delectable piece of meat at a very reasonable price, then try the Arrachera Nortena. The Pure de Papa is a unique side that is light and fluffy topped with a crema to balance out the flavor profile of the potatoes. This side will go well with any of their steaks, so don't miss it! We ended the meal with the Campechana, which is a multifaceted creation that has a little something for everyone. Ice cream, puff pastry and caramel all put together in a presentation that is impressive. Note: This dessert is worth a solo visit if you are just looking for an after show dessert that is unique. This was a new restaurant for us and we will be back again on our next trip to NYC! It was FANTASTIC. We split the Tacos Callejeros which were scrumptious as an appetizer. Great flavor and amount of meat. Our entree which we split was the Corazon De Filete which was mouth watering great. Cooked perfectly and they cut into slices for us which made it much easier to share. You have to get the Verduras Al Grill which is an assortment of grilled vegetables. Sounds blah, but we have never had the assortment of vegetables that we were presented with. It appears to be very seasonal and definitely not to be missed. Service was exceptional (Henry) was helpful and attentive. We had a show to catch so he kept an eye on us without making you feel rushed. My only wish is that they would open in Atlanta. I came today without reservations for myself and they were very accommodating which I appreciated. I got the complimentary "chips and dip" no cutlery, no napkin. When I am given the cutlery I had to ask someone else for a napkin. Those items should come together and since I was a party of one it should come quickly. I ordered the Ceviche Tostada which was tasty as an appetizer. My main course was supposed to be grilled branzino, there was no way that fish was grilled with soft skin, and no grill marks. It tasted as if it were broiled and grilled as advertised. Thoroughly disappointed since Monday I had grilled branzino at Oceana and it was prepared perfectly. Once my meal was complete I had to wait 11 minutes for dessert which was tasteless - fruit plate and vanilla whipped cream. I came to see if I could recommend Cuerno to my C-Level bankers who dine out often with our clients. Sadly I cannot. Perhaps I will come back, but the jury is still out about that. I have been to Cuerno twice - my first visit a few weeks ago was terrific (both food/service). My second visit was on Sunday and mixed (food generally good/service bad - probably some of the worst service I've ever had, but rectified by Cuerno's manager). I work two blocks away, so either way, I'll be back. First visit: Quick after work stop for drinks and snacks. As such, we just ordered cocktails, guac and the queso. All were excellent; service was friendly and efficient. Second visit: Sunday evening for a late dinner with a friend in town. Lighter meal as it was later in evening - we ordered the guacamole, chicharron de pulpo (octopus), Caesar salad, tacos richi (ribeye) and the tableside tacos taquero (skirt steak with bone marrow). Notwithstanding that I specifically asked our waitress to please course the meal at a sensible pace (ie appetizers first), ALL the food arrived at once EXCEPT for the chips for the guacamole. While our waitress had reassured us she "was taking care" of the situation, literally every course showed up within minutes, including the tableside tacos taquero -- when I told the taco server, please, we'd like to eat some of the appetizers first, he was a bit testy and insisted "chef says not to wait or this will get cold" -- we relented but it was clearly a mistake, because the bone marrow steak tacos, along with everything else, got cold quickly. With this firehose of food, the greatest irony was that we had to wait - and ask many times - for chips for the guacamole. After asking our waitress 4 times, we asked another server, but the chips still did not appear. By that time, it was about 20 minutes (I have NEVER waited so long for chips which should be instant), fed up with the rest of the food arriving prematurely but not the chips, I went inside to chase down a manager. After speaking to someone, our waitress then finally showed up with the chips. To Cuerno's credit, a manager came to our table - he BROUGHT MORE CHIPS for our guac, listened and acknowledged that clearly, there was a miscommunication between our waitress and the kitchen. Asked what he could do to make it right, offered to redo the tacos or anything else. At that point, we asked for a "do-over" of the octopus chicharron appetizer as it had been sitting there and now cold (since it had been brought out concurrently with the tacos and everything else instead of properly coursed). All that said, the manager really restored the credibility of our experience. Our waitress may have just been way off that night - or had hearing issues - as one example, toward end of meal, she asked my friend if he wanted more soda. When he said "I'm good", she said "great, I'll get you another" - it turns out she had thought he said "I would" (?!! ). All the food that actually came out hot was good. The tacos taquero which are social media gold got cold fast (due to rushed service) and were totally average. Maybe they would have tasted better still warm, but who knows. Anyway - I will be back as I work in the area. 3 stars for great first visit, diluted by bad service on our second visit. read more

This is a great place to have drinks with your coworker at the bar. The restaurant is gorgeous and packed with people meeting up for drinks after work. I had dinner with my friends and the food was really good. The tacos are excellent. The tomahawk steak fed four hungry girls and the cocktails were yummy. Great place to hang out with your friends.
